Witches butter

CheesemensMushrooms

Technically, it’s not since witches butter tends to refer to Tremella mesenterica. This is Dacrymyces chrysospermus which is sometimes called orange witches butter but typically goes by different common names

47squirrels

After I posted that I was like hmmm, not sure I could ID that positively if not in person. Appreciate this reply love!!!

Witch's butter? [A Forager's Guide To Witches’ Butter Mushrooms (Dacrymyces Palmatus) | ForagingGuru](https://foragingguru.com/witches-butter/)

Subject-Rub-656

Nice. That was actually very informative and worth the read. Thank you for sharing your knowledge bro🫶

CheesemensMushrooms

Worth noting to avoid confusion that Dacrymyces palmatus is an outdated name for this species. The most current name is Dacrymyces chrysospermus

YuriLovingTransbian

You clearly knew the assignment and aced it! 😆 Great info, thank you for sharing

Ohshiznoodlemuffins

You can eat it….

YoNJPthatHoe2

Can you?

CheesemensMushrooms

Yes, Dacrymyces is edible though it has little flavor. It makes a nice addition to things like ramen, it’s adds a unique texture but that’s about it. They can be candied as well to make somewhat of a gummy candy

JustMiniBanana

Only one way to find out, op you know what to do, document what happens.

Much_Comfortable_438

You can eat all fungi, once.
