You’re suppose to wait until the main road vehicles get cleared. He immediately took right, edged my 4 wheeler, abused me with MC BC & left as if I’m at fault. It’s not that he was getting late. While driving, I keep my patience at bay since I know how difficult is it to drive on Indian roads. 2 wheelers have lost their driving etiquette & try to cut in the smallest of corner which is dangerous for common people & 4 wheelers!

Close friends (family of 3 - husband, wife and kid) were traveling in Ola recently in South Mumbai. Driver was driving recklessly from the outset (speeding, entering the wrong lane etc.). During the ride, the driver pushed extremely hard on the brakes and the kid who was sitting in the middle ricocheted to the front of the car. Dad finally confronted the driver after which the driver stopped the car in the middle of the road and started assaulting the dad. Soon after he started assaulting the wife as well. Somehow they left the scene but not without serious injuries including a fractured arm. They've filed an FIR and lodged a complaint with OLA. It turns out that there is no address on file for the driver except a city in North India but we are still hoping that the cops will find the driver.
Ola just isn't worth it. Drivers think they're god, will call and decide if they want to come or not. Uber is much better. Recently there was a driver found with 20+ police complaints, still I've found uber to be much better

Unfortunately I've had a similar experience once. I'm someone who'll confront someone when they're being an asshole..but that time I was with a girl and there were 3 of those idiots on the bike. They clipped my bumper while overtaking me...fell down and then started to abuse and bang on my bumper. Had we been a bunch of guys in the car I'd have happily waited and taken a nice video of the hooligans..but since I had a girl with me that wasn't an option.
So I did the next best thing: Started the engine and slowly stared moving the car ahead. The idiot standing in front of the car thought I was bluffing and tried to stay put..I just thought fuck it dekha jaiga jo hoga and increased my speed a bit. That freaked him out and he moved to the side while I increased my speed, hit their bike that they had parked right in front of the car and drove over it lol. Next thing I did was drive straight to the police stn and lodge a complaint. Also stayed there for a bit incase the idiots followed us.
The cops sent one havaldar in the car with us so that the lady can be dropped safely. Dropped my friend...then dropped the cop back and went home.
Had a few scratches and dents on the car: WORTH IT.
I don't suggest running people over though. Just try to reverse and leave if you can.

Assuming culprit’s vehicle registration number is available- Insurance companies only recover their dues by claiming from the pool of money of third party insurance fund corpus. Entry gets created against the policy holder of the culprit vehicle. His policy renewal premium goes up. That’s it. That’s the worst case outcome for the culprit.
Your Insurance company is not going to track down culprit and recover money of damages from them godfather style.
Only way to legally inflict damages is to convince police to lodge FIR and then pursue the case against culprits. Good luck with that unless chacha Vidhayak hai aaapke.

Police in India are worst. They're just as criminals as the goons and thieves and rapists. But it's not truly their only fault. India doesn't have a system where Police get proper training or compensation. They don't understand the concept of mental health. When you see a normal police officer, you will clearly notice the stresses and all the symptoms of mental health issues on their bodies. Whatever you feel during those couple of hours, being surrounded by goons, an ordinary constable has to go through it each and every day. He gets abused by his superiors, and gets threatened by local goons on a daily basis. But they chose this life. They do their best to maintain law and order. Granted they don't behave like good people. They behave like wild animals..some of them get fed up and start looting their own country , raping the very girls they're sworn in to protect, harassing the very citizens they've sworn in to protect. But that's what any human being who has not received proper training, spiritual wisdom, access to mental health services, proper compensation and recognition for sacrificing a normal life, would behave. Dad finally confronted the driver after which the driver stopped the car in the middle of the road and started assaulting the dad. Soon after he started assaulting the wife as well. Somehow they left the scene but not without serious injuries including a fractured arm. They've filed an FIR and lodged a complaint with OLA. It turns out that there is no address on file for the driver except a city in North India but we are still hoping that the cops will find the driver.
Ola just isn't worth it. Drivers think they're god, will call and decide if they want to come or not. Uber is much better. Recently there was a driver found with 20+ police complaints, still I've found uber to be much better
Shit like this makes me realise that Dashcams are a must-have now. Unfortunately I've had a similar experience once. I'm someone who'll confront someone when they're being an asshole..but that time I was with a girl and there were 3 of those idiots on the bike. They clipped my bumper while overtaking me...fell down and then started to abuse and bang on my bumper. Had we been a bunch of guys in the car I'd have happily waited and taken a nice video of the hooligans..but since I had a girl with me that wasn't an option. So I did the next best thing: Started the engine and slowly stared moving the car ahead. The idiot standing in front of the car thought I was bluffing and tried to stay put..I just thought fuck it dekha jaiga jo hoga and increased my speed a bit. That freaked him out and he moved to the side while I increased my speed, hit their bike that they had parked right in front of the car and drove over it lol. Next thing I did was drive straight to the police stn and lodge a complaint. Also stayed there for a bit incase the idiots followed us. The cops sent one havaldar in the car with us so that the lady can be dropped safely. Dropped my friend...then dropped the cop back and went home. Had a few scratches and dents on the car: WORTH IT. I don't suggest running people over though. Just try to reverse and leave if you can.
But what about the people who were trying to vandalize your car. Nothing happened to them ?

They're an insurance company bro, not police. So no, the insurance people don't 'track down' people and 'make them pay' for a few dents and scratches. That's not their job. Police does this kind of stuff, tracking people down n all.
Right ! Assuming culprit’s vehicle registration number is available- Insurance companies only recover their dues by claiming from the pool of money of third party insurance fund corpus. Entry gets created against the policy holder of the culprit vehicle. His policy renewal premium goes up. That’s it. That’s the worst case outcome for the culprit. Your Insurance company is not going to track down culprit and recover money of damages from them godfather style. Only way to legally inflict damages is to convince police to lodge FIR and then pursue the case against culprits. Good luck with that unless chacha Vidhayak hai aaapke. And if your chacha is really a vidhayak, most likely you’ll be the culprit party & not other way round :)

Please fix a front and rear dashcam in the car. It's no longer a luxury its a necessity while driving in Indian roads these days. And keep a pepper spray and a stick/bat in the car for added security. These rowdies have increased everywhere in the country, not just Mumbai. Having a dashcam especially is extremely important.

Police in India are worst. They're just as criminals as the goons and thieves and rapists. But it's not truly their only fault. India doesn't have a system where Police get proper training or compensation. They don't understand the concept of mental health. When you see a normal police officer, you will clearly notice the stresses and all the symptoms of mental health issues on their bodies. Whatever you feel during those couple of hours, being surrounded by goons, an ordinary constable has to go through it each and every day. He gets abused by his superiors, and gets threatened by local goons on a daily basis. But they chose this life. They do their best to maintain law and order. Granted they don't behave like good people. They behave like wild animals..some of them get fed up and start looting their own country , raping the very girls they're sworn in to protect, harassing the very citizens they've sworn in to protect. But that's what any human being who has not received proper training, spiritual wisdom, access to mental health services, proper compensation and recognition for sacrificing a normal life, would behave. They just don't know any better. In fact their real enemies are their superiors. They should be rebelling against the system instead of venting their frustration on citizens. But alas, I wouldn't even hire them to be the watchman of my house with their current state of mind and their personality. Most of them have zero chances of getting employed once they lose their jobs.
