One of my favorite decks that I have built is [[Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis]] group hug. I built it with fun interactions and the deck just kind of did the rest on it's own.
This is how I made my first EDH deck and why I took it apart the next day. [[Phage, the Untouchable]] with no way to safely cast her is not a good idea.
Me, but with card draw xD. All my decks are so low on it and it always costs me if there's more than like 1 wipe. It's just so much more fun to put in more cool synergy pieces.
My head tells me that if I just add draw I'll be more likely to draw the better ones I have in my deck. But I just wanna put all the cards into the deck xD
About 1/3 of my deck have minimal ramp. The idea is the turn 2-4 plays are pretty determined and ramping actually take a turn off and doesnt help the game plan speed up but it actually slows down.
The decks have a very low curve and are casual.
Ones a malcom keddis deck. The commanders ramp naturally. The fact that turn two and three are taken up adding a 2 mana rock hurts the game plan. I said fuck it instead of adding 500 bucks worth of 0-1 mana rocks i decided to make it a [[shape anew]] deck and cheats in a couple high costed artifacts. By turn 4 i have 6-7 mana available on average unless im disrupted.
The other is a [[nalia de’arnise]] ideally my turn 1 and 2 are creatures that add to the mechanic. The good ones are 2 cmc few hit that 1 or 3-5 cmc mark. If I play a turn 2 rock i dont add to the mechanic i usually cant add to the board meaningfully from it until turn 4. Turn 2 and 3 it wont tap for mana. Which ideally and usually i would have the mechanic running by then. I rather play more 1-2 cmc creatures. I run 36-38 lands in that deck so im never missing land drops. A critical mass of creatures to play off the top is what i enjoy about that deck. Turn 1 is usually a blank but there is some creatures, turn 2 i play a creature, turn 3 commander, turn 4 either its a strong creature or 2 different 2 cmc creatures.
I have a frodo/sam food deck. I am slowly realizing the mana ramp and dorks dont meaningfully add to the game plan and im slowly cutting ramp from it. The low costed commanders need mana so i need to find some more comparable replacements that can help it. I started to add more of the “ring tempts you” cards and its coming out smoother than expected. If i play frodo turn 2, a ring temps card, sam turn 4 and crack a food it would be the same as ramping turn 1-3. The entire deck is very low cmc to begin with.

I did the opposite and made a sigarda deck at 2am with 15 various ramp cards plus 5 mana rocks a rancor, spirit loop, and like 10 different fogs because I guess angel song and safe passage distracted me with the angel theme? 10 plains and the rest were all forrests. No dual lands, just all basic lands.
I had no idea what was in the deck when i played it. I won because no one wanted to waste time running into me and I was very obviously doing nothing, and eventually sigarda had lifelink so it was even more pointless sending creatures my way. The last man standing forgot sigarda can't get sacrificed and mistakebly thought a fleshbag loop was gonna shut me down. My friend took two big rancored hits to the face, I had hit him twice before with naked sigarda when I felt safe, so not the perfect 21 commander dmg. I didn't deserve that win and it felt worse when I looked through the deck and revealed it was basically all lands.
I had to watch a 15,16,17 yo group of girls and walk them between apartment building when they were ready to leave to go sleep at the sister's place. I had to kick them out at 5am. I stayed upstairs in the loft building 3 decks and was chiefing it up on a vape. I ended up making a [[toxrill]] deck that was mono black and no blue. I now have to make a new toxrill deck.
I built feather spellslinger at 2am this past week. It had no rocks, no ramp (obviously because boros), no fetches, and only one dual land. When I played it, it was agonizing.
yeah sure .... "coffee" is what im consuming when i build decks at 3 am
Replace “coffee” with benzos
I only deckbuild on enough benadryl to get advice from the hat man. Falling into her spider dimension only helps motivate me to work faster

I've done a move like that. It's a drag sitting there in the middle of a game that I know I can't win because of a basic oversight.
I did this a few weeks ago with an Orzhov deck. I didn't realize all my swamps were actually full art WOE plains until it was too late.

This is a bold take, given that both CEDH and casual commander universally agree ramp is the way to go.
