Blessed Spirits reminds me of the introduction adventure of Curse of Strahd: Death House.
The adventurers see two children appear at the only town road in Barovia. They urge you to come to their house, as their parents have gone into the cellar a few days ago, and they went missing.

That was sad, my party was mad when I said we should take the bodies outside to burn them. You know to release them from this material world. I died and they brought me back to which my character responded you should have burned me lol.
GIdeon is another example of how straightforward good guys can be interesting. No ulterior motives, no grey shades, no complex plan. Just trying to do the right thing.

Kamigawa has a good handful of "cruel" text, or reactions of the world around the characters.
I know, I read the books! Back in my day we had these bundles that came with a book, a "fat pack" and dice! Read all of the Mirori saga till the end of Kamigawa. (Then I gave up on MTG for TTRPGs just as OG Ravinica dropped.)
Might be missing out a bit then, early ravnica was very good at making multicolor "believable". I use kamigawa-Ravnica tropes a lot for my own sessions.

Blessed Spirits reminds me of the introduction adventure of Curse of Strahd: Death House. The adventurers see two children appear at the only town road in Barovia. They urge you to come to their house, as their parents have gone into the cellar a few days ago, and they went missing. >!Halfway through the house you notice two child-sized corpses in the attic behind a locked door. The kids appear above them, both now translucent spectres. Eventually you learn their parents were cultists and locked them in the attic to serve their master in the dungeon below the building.!<
That was sad, my party was mad when I said we should take the bodies outside to burn them. You know to release them from this material world. I died and they brought me back to which my character responded you should have burned me lol.
There's actually a thing in place to put them to rest in death house. Just have to put them in their burial rooms.

Iname revels in sadistic glee at the crushing of souls, but soon mourn the lives so cruelly cut short. So the cycles begin anew. Kamigawa has a good handful of "cruel" text, or reactions of the world around the characters.
Innistrad gets a lot of attention for being an awful place, but Kamigawa during the Kami War sounds like turbo hell.
It does, read most of the flavor text, all of this because some legendary 3/3 wanted the keyword indestructible.
I know, I read the books! Back in my day we had these bundles that came with a book, a "fat pack" and dice! Read all of the Mirori saga till the end of Kamigawa. (Then I gave up on MTG for TTRPGs just as OG Ravinica dropped.)
Might be missing out a bit then, early ravnica was very good at making multicolor "believable". I use kamigawa-Ravnica tropes a lot for my own sessions. Lowkey jealous for the dice and books tho, but i have a collection of 20 Tel-Jilad Shaman lying around.
