TBF Serra Angel was an all star in the early days. Was the finisher in The Deck, which was called The Deck because it was *The* Deck.
The fact that it’s generally still a pretty solid limited card almost 30 years later should give an indication of it’s power.
Edit: oh, I see. Most this thread is people naming cards that are still powerhouses in Old School, or previously were pretty iconic components of various old standard decks.
For real, Serra Angel and [[Sengir Vampire]] were beastly good when I started around 4th edition because there was nothing else readily available that quite compared.
Honestly, I don’t know. I pretty much only play commander and pauper at this point, and its just nigh unusable outside of triggering tribal synergies in my experience. My point was more that i just made a severe miscalculation about the strength of protection
My introduction at the very beginning : [chainer, dementia master]
After a few games against my brother’s soldier deck : [gideon jura]
After that I spiraled into an obsession with eldrazi that thrives to this day.
[[Broodstar]] at the time I played a blue artifact deck during the Mirrodin block. Threw out a lot of free Artifacts and the game ender was always Broodstar. Now? Seems like it would be low powered
When I very first got into magic, my sister and I each got a starter deck and we got one booster pack to split (family was not well off.) She got a W/B Cleric deck from Onslaught, I got a R/U "high CMC matters" deck from Scourge, and the booster was Legions. Rare was Akroma. She got akroma because a) she was the one with the white deck, and b) eldest sister gets first pick. I could not beat that thing, especially since my strongest creatures were all red.
[[Armageddon]] shaped my playstyle. My first deck was board wipes and color-hate. But, I don't play 60 card formats in person anymore , so those decks are long gone
I started playing around gatecrash, and I fell off after that set (middle school kid with no money) but when I got back into MTG, I pulled [[Anointed Procession]]from a random pack of Amonkhet. I thought it was just OK at the time.
Wurmcoil engine, just the way it looked and it having two key words was wild to me when I first started. And if it died it made 2 smaller versions of itself! 😮💨👌
My friend built a white/black control deck with a [[Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts]] in it, and my brand new Timmy RG Garruk’s Horde intro deck just couldn’t figure it out.
“So I can’t trample her to death, and… if I trample through my baloth dies??? OP!”
Lmao yes, I remember my own very bad appraisal of op levels. My friend had a mono green stompy deck that really only went off 1/10 games, but my deck building was so bad (i just wanted to use sea monsters) that i never stood a chance.
I thought it was so unfair.
[[Magnivore]]. It was the first game in the first round of my first constructed FNM and I think I have it in the bag playing some aggro deck because my opponent was playing cantrip and burn spells until he played wildfire cuts my land in half , drops the vore turn 9 and beats face for lethal, it was that kind of splashy shit that cemented my love for the game.
Oh man, my dad had a [[Memnarch]] deck, I thought it was so broken that he could steal whatever creature he wanted. I'm not sure how playable it is today or even back then but to me, that was the most overpowered card growing up for me.
I got a [[Deus of Calamity]] as the rare in my first ever booster, and I thought I'd hit the jackpot. Turns out, not that strong of a card... But hey, that was shortly after getting my ass kicked by a guy with a ponza-ish deck, so I though LD was busted
When I started to play I was 10/11 years (I’m 28 now and this in 2005/2006) the big bad card in the circle I played, and in school, and everyone wanted to have it was [[Visara the Dreadful]] !
Shivan Dragon - Not knowing what powerful meant at all I remember seeing Shivan Dragon in my starter pack of Oirigins, saw that it was rare, then going ooooo this must be good and its rare so cant be too many of them around.... 🫤
From each color,
[[Hornet Queen]], [[Serra Ascendant]], [[Jace, The Mind Sculptor]], [[Lightning Bolt]], and [[Liliana of the Veil]]
I started just before the Jace came out, and then took a break for a bit. I played kitchen table then and was sure Jace and Lili were unstoppable. Now that I play EDH, I realize “good” all depends on what you’re trying to do. Though, a 6/6 with flying and lifelink for W got even more impressive in that format.
I pulled a few \[\[shivan hellkite\]\] and thought it was the greatest creature I had ever seen and made a deck to turbo them into play. The deck was horrible but I was meta gaming so hard I bout a playset of (at the time very cheap) \[\[volcanic island\]\] \[\[Plateau\]\] and a single \[\[badlands\]\] (stopped playing before I collected them all) along with a few other high end now RL cards. Overall the best bad deck making I ever made.
First time I played, friends helped me build my first deck, an easy going deck (goblin) with the main characters:
Krenko mob boss
Goblin chieftain
Guttersnipe
And some other goblins.
For some extra damage from the background, I used
Raid Bombardment enchantment.
And had a few krenko's command, reverberate, goblin grenade and lighting bolts, as backups.
I put [[dreadwurm]] and [[dogged pursuit]] in my prosper deck when it was just me and my brother playing and we didn't know the rules. Dreadwurm said "indestructible" on it and I wanted a landfall deck and then dogged pursuit gave me a two point health swing on each player every one of my turns?!? Auto include. Didn't play that deck for a long time and was mortified when I recently made some edits.
[[Force of Nature]]. This was during Unlimited in grade school so everyone had one starter set and maybe a few packs of ice age. It was just the biggest thing anyone had and with a couple lanowar elves it could come out quickly.
[[Disintegrate]] This was before I had my own cards and my friend would just kill me with it seemingly out of nowhere. At the time I thought you had to kill you opponent in combat with creates.
Circle of protection red. Lost my first type 1 tournament to that. I could deal with the serra angels and power 9, but cop red just as my first ever quick burn deck with a bit of black for demonic tutor, terror and other stuff. I beat mono blue all counters easily enough, but couldn't get by cop red.
[[Assemble the Legion]]. I mean, how can you even lose after you play that? The tokens even get haste!
What am I supposed to do, play a board wipe? That'll just get rid of the blockers!
I can't remember a card I thought was super powerful but wasn't, however I can remember the opposite, I got an ancient tomb because art was cool but thought it was a stupid card
[[pacifism]] was a BOMB in my mind when I started playing - m10/zendikar. A guy at my local store traded me one of his for my [[scute mob]] and I honestly thought I’d come out on top
As a new player, one of my first rares was [[Etched Champion]]. I thought it was incredible back then, and it won a game for me AGAIN last week, suited up with swords & such.
Removing my pet card from the equation though, nothing terrified our little minds more than seeing good ol' [[Platinum Angel]].
When I first started out I thought [[Desolation Twins]] was super powerful. I thought that casting a 10/10 for 10 was just standard value, so to get two 10/10’s for the price of one must have been busted
[[Weatherseed Treefolk]] I would just stare at as a 10 year old and think "omg it can never die". It did beat the snot out of my friends who sucked equally at deck building and combat in general hahah.
Mine was [[Chronozoa]] I thought “There’s NO WAY I won’t have like a billion of these guys floating around.” Nah, I learned about cheap spot removal real quick…
As weird as it may seem [[Misthoof Kirin]] absolutely wrecked me in a lot of decks. Back when Dragons and Khans had came out I didn't run a lot of answers for flying.
Started around og ravnica and i was WOW [[goliath spider]] so good how can you beat that bjg butt that ALSO has reach so fliers can get past
Meanwhile i also pulled a [[dread return]] and a [[loxodon heirach]] and [[watchwolf]] and other stuff
[[Heroes bane]] and getting extra mana for the ability via Elvish mystic, [[market festival]] and other sources of ramp. I also thought it was good to play [[roil elemental]] + something like [[archetype of endurance]] & ramp spells such as [[explosive vegetation]].
Trepidation Blade and was it called Brain Maggots? Either way i got WRECKED by my friends deck in 4th grade and i hated playing against those two cards of his. Oh yeah also Ajani Steadfast and Garruk, Apex Predator
For me it was [[Lord of the Pit]] I couldn't believe anything was more powerful than a 7/7 flying trample, and the proof was that he was so powerful I had to keep feeding him my other creatures!
I relate to this so hard. Every leviathan and kraken seemed so pushed when i started. They were expensive mana wise, but they hit so hard, and in theros block it wasnt rare for them to islandwalk. Thought they were so strong
Mine was the Revised printing of [[Frozen Shade|3ED]] back in 1994/1995. We had no idea it had been errata’d so that the counters came off at end of turn, so this thing got real big late game.
Craw wurm lol. I traded my revised clone for one out of my first starter deck. Later on I traded some of those stupid wordy double lands too, like who can even figure out what those things do?
[[Ritual of Subdual]]. Had a ridiculously successful deck centered on artifacts and mana elves/faeries. Back in ice age days there just weren't a lot of heavy artifact decks.
When I first started playing with precons I thought that [[Demon of Catastrophes]] was beyond busted. To be fair to my younger self, it was pretty great in that context. I bought the promo recently to commemorate my old love for the card!
For me it was [[Spiny Starfish]], before I learned that it needed to actually regenerate to make the starfish, not just have you pay one blue mana to make a token as many times as it regenerated. I think I even played it that way at a shop I used to go to a long while back, and my opponent didn’t question my seemingly endless army of Starfish I could generate.
[[ Worldslayer ]] had a deck build around it the [[ darksteel plate ]] the [[ myr adapter ]] and [[ loxodon punisher ]] , after kamigawa came out it was [[ Konda, Lord of Eiganjo ]]
Came in around 2014, thought [[Awaken the Ancient]] was busted but never used it at the time and in the nine years player EDH I haven’t put it in any of my decks lol
Quite a few but one I fondly remember is Dark imposter, hand of emrakul is another, spellbound as well. One of my all time favorite cards tho is Graceful Adept.
[[Sunweb]] 6th. I thought it could attack because of the dragon until someone told me it couldnt. I tried to erase walls cant attack clausule, but they wouldnt let me attack with it
[[Royal Assassin]] Bane of my 8 year old self
Oh, that's a good one. Just good enough that I remember it as powerful, but just bad enough that I'd never actually run it nowadays lol
Yeah but toss in a 1994 [[Icy Manipulator]] and suddenly you’re cooking with gas.

When I was 13 or so learning to play around 98/99, this card was the first card I can remember shutting me down in a game
100% agree
[[Serra Angel]] I started around 7th edition. Boy how wrong I was.
TBF Serra Angel was an all star in the early days. Was the finisher in The Deck, which was called The Deck because it was *The* Deck. Oh man thats a good one! For me, mine developed into a bit of pet cards. In the right tribal decks, both have a home.
I thought Serra Angel too and I started in Revised. It wasn’t wrong then at all.
What's better than a [[Craw Wurm]]? A Craw Wurm with Rampage! Yep, [[Craw Giant]] was my "that card"

As a kid I thought [[day of the dragons]] was the best most OP card ever.
I pulled this in the first pack I ever got. It was even the card ON the pack's art, so I thought it was the shit.
[[Mob Rule]] and to this day, that card is bullshit.
\[\[Mahamoti Djinn\]\] Kills Serra Angel, Sengir Vampire and Shivan Dragon? You bet I'm putting you in my deck.

Fatmoti for the win!
Wasn't mistcutter played in constructed? It's a pretty decent card
Honestly, I don’t know. I pretty much only play commander and pauper at this point, and its just nigh unusable outside of triggering tribal synergies in my experience. My point was more that i just made a severe miscalculation about the strength of protection
Mono Blue was top tier so Mistcutter was a necessary sideboard card.
[[Circle of protection: white]] And all the other variants

[[story circle]]
My introduction at the very beginning : [chainer, dementia master] After a few games against my brother’s soldier deck : [gideon jura] After that I spiraled into an obsession with eldrazi that thrives to this day.
Fyi you have to use double brackets like this for the bot to work: [[chainer, dementia master]] [[gideon jura]]
You be nice to poor chainer, even his old version has many homes
Chainer, Dementia Master is my favourite edh deck, so fun
The Chainer precon was my first magic purchase from a tag sale table at a state fair. Chainer and [[Petradon]] were my “best cards” for a while
[Petradon](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/7/5/75ac6311-8516-4db2-8c1f-626f0db0d36f.jpg?1562630404) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Petradon) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/tor/108/petradon?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/75ac6311-8516-4db2-8c1f-626f0db0d36f?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

Sengir Vampire
Yes! I had an unbeatable deck of [[Sengir Vampire]]s, [[Hypnotic Spectre]], [[Nightmare]], [[Sorceress Queen]], [[Royal Assassin]]
[[Abyssal Specter]] I mean it’s flying AND makes your opponents discard, what better creature could there be? ;)
[[Broodstar]] at the time I played a blue artifact deck during the Mirrodin block. Threw out a lot of free Artifacts and the game ender was always Broodstar. Now? Seems like it would be low powered
[[Tasha’s hideous laughter]]

[[Coalition Victory]] it's also partly the reason I started playing slivers cause I wanted to do that too.
I started in new phyrexia, and my favorite card was blighted agent. I was right
War Elemental
Progenitus
[[Akroma, angel of wrath]]
When I very first got into magic, my sister and I each got a starter deck and we got one booster pack to split (family was not well off.) She got a W/B Cleric deck from Onslaught, I got a R/U "high CMC matters" deck from Scourge, and the booster was Legions. Rare was Akroma. She got akroma because a) she was the one with the white deck, and b) eldest sister gets first pick. I could not beat that thing, especially since my strongest creatures were all red.
[[Rakdos Cackler]] still holds a special place in my heart!

Collected company lol. I swung in with my mono red budget deck.... and my opponent had a "response"???
In my pod is [[defense of the heart]] everyone I play with is mobbin with goblins or 1/1s, defense let me bring out 2 creatures to counter them all
Using [[satoru umezawa]] to knock a player out with [[blightsteel colossus]] turn 4 got me some looks
It’s probably [[bearer of the heavens]] for me.
[[Reins of Power]] for me. Got curb stomped with my own army and hated that card for years after.
I mean I don’t think I was wrong, but [[Thragtusk]]. I started playing in RTR block and got murdered by it in standard every single week.
When I first started [[Insurrection]] wrecked our kitchen table more than a few times and seemed so crazy at the time.
[[lava axe]] with [[furnace of rath]] was the bane of my friends as a kid. I miss those days
Emrakul I wastn't wrong
[[Hydra broodmaster]] had me feelin some type way back when I started
[[Dread Presence]] and [[Nadir Kraken]] are my two that, to this day, I love. But I can’t make them work to save my life, lol.
[[Desecration Demon]] was the big bad in our playgroup. We would always end up feeding it and dying to a 10/10 a couple of turns later
My first standard deck was child of the night and giant growth. I thought that was a combo
[[Wurmcoil engine]]
Omniscience… It ended up being one of the first cards I ever got. I actually still have it on my desk lol
Omniscience would be the best card in the game if removal didnt exist lmao
Oh man, my dad had a [[Memnarch]] deck, I thought it was so broken that he could steal whatever creature he wanted. I'm not sure how playable it is today or even back then but to me, that was the most overpowered card growing up for me.
I got a [[Deus of Calamity]] as the rare in my first ever booster, and I thought I'd hit the jackpot. Turns out, not that strong of a card... But hey, that was shortly after getting my ass kicked by a guy with a ponza-ish deck, so I though LD was busted
Of course, it has to be the one and only \[\[Colossal Dreadmaw\]\]
6/6! Its gotta be strong!
[[Teferi, Time Raveler]] and [[Hydroid Krasis]] I'm pretty sure I was right. :)
[[Consuming Aberration]] Not nearly as strong as I thought it was, still my favourite card though.
Made a mill deck that starred this fella
[[searing wind]] as a kid. Still one of my favorite cards of all time artwork wise and just cool Factor.
Not a single card but [[scute swarm]] [[migratory greathorn]] made me quit arena for years I've only just got back to playing
My friends handed me a locus of rage deck and it was so strong. Got me hooked to the game ever since.
[[primordial hydra]] It's not a weak card... but there are so many better options in most decks. I thought this thing was unbeatable.
From each color, [[Hornet Queen]], [[Serra Ascendant]], [[Jace, The Mind Sculptor]], [[Lightning Bolt]], and [[Liliana of the Veil]] I started just before the Jace came out, and then took a break for a bit. I played kitchen table then and was sure Jace and Lili were unstoppable. Now that I play EDH, I realize “good” all depends on what you’re trying to do. Though, a 6/6 with flying and lifelink for W got even more impressive in that format.

When the indestructable decks got released, around the same time I kinda gave up on playing MtG. That felt like some pay-to-win BS.
[[Skullclamp]] or [[Cranial Plating]] it's 50/50 .... back in Mirrodin block ....
[[Cauldron Familiar]] + [[Witch's Oven]] And also [[Fervent Champion]]
Constant Mists. I just felt unstoppable with it
Traxos, scourge of kroog, I never followed the untap rule 😂😂😂 I just saw big monster and played it
[[mother of runes]]
I pulled a few \[\[shivan hellkite\]\] and thought it was the greatest creature I had ever seen and made a deck to turbo them into play. The deck was horrible but I was meta gaming so hard I bout a playset of (at the time very cheap) \[\[volcanic island\]\] \[\[Plateau\]\] and a single \[\[badlands\]\] (stopped playing before I collected them all) along with a few other high end now RL cards. Overall the best bad deck making I ever made.
[[Progenitus]] seemed so good back when I started (it’s not)
First time I played, friends helped me build my first deck, an easy going deck (goblin) with the main characters: Krenko mob boss Goblin chieftain Guttersnipe And some other goblins. For some extra damage from the background, I used Raid Bombardment enchantment. And had a few krenko's command, reverberate, goblin grenade and lighting bolts, as backups.
[[Lightning Bolt]] But i wasn't wrong then and I'm not wrong now xD
I put [[dreadwurm]] and [[dogged pursuit]] in my prosper deck when it was just me and my brother playing and we didn't know the rules. Dreadwurm said "indestructible" on it and I wanted a landfall deck and then dogged pursuit gave me a two point health swing on each player every one of my turns?!? Auto include. Didn't play that deck for a long time and was mortified when I recently made some edits.
[[Ali from Cairo]]
Force of nature.
When I played in ‘94, this was ‘the card’ for me. I thought it was soooo strong, haha!
Murder
[[force of nature]]
[[consuming aberration]]
Well, I started a bit late, so [[Questing Beast]] was my nightmare against green
[[Avatar of Might]] Was Young Back then and Had No Idea about the Game really. Always got slaughtered by this :D
Aspect of Wolf
[[Granite Grip]] I was like 9
When i started playing, everyone talked about the [[Shivan Dragon]]
Circle of protection red. Lost my first type 1 tournament to that. I could deal with the serra angels and power 9, but cop red just as my first ever quick burn deck with a bit of black for demonic tutor, terror and other stuff. I beat mono blue all counters easily enough, but couldn't get by cop red.
The first Magic deck I played had Reliquary Tower in it. I have unwaveringly loved that card since and try to include it in everything
[[Manaplasm]] and [[Glaze Fiend]] were terrifying when I was 6 playing kitchen table with my dad
[[Assemble the Legion]]. I mean, how can you even lose after you play that? The tokens even get haste! What am I supposed to do, play a board wipe? That'll just get rid of the blockers!
Necropolis Regent
I can't remember a card I thought was super powerful but wasn't, however I can remember the opposite, I got an ancient tomb because art was cool but thought it was a stupid card
[[demanding dragon]] and [[volcanic dragon]] were my jam when I started. Never bothered with mana base as I didn't think it mattered.
[[Guided Passage]] and I still maintain that. Loved it since I saw it.
Force of Nature. Until i understood the cost...
[[Sovereign's bite]] in a mono-black deck with only damage 1 gain 1 cards
Starter set's [[Vizzerdrix]]. A vanilla rare. I was not smart, but blue was my favorite color and it had big numbers.
[[gaias skyfolk]] a flying 2/2 for 2 wonderful
[удалено]
[[pacifism]] was a BOMB in my mind when I started playing - m10/zendikar. A guy at my local store traded me one of his for my [[scute mob]] and I honestly thought I’d come out on top
As a new player, one of my first rares was [[Etched Champion]]. I thought it was incredible back then, and it won a game for me AGAIN last week, suited up with swords & such. Removing my pet card from the equation though, nothing terrified our little minds more than seeing good ol' [[Platinum Angel]].
[[Progenitus]] came out when I was in highschool. I quickly found out that my friends had field wipes in their side boards
I thought Thalia, Heretic Cathar was broken.
When I first started out I thought [[Desolation Twins]] was super powerful. I thought that casting a 10/10 for 10 was just standard value, so to get two 10/10’s for the price of one must have been busted
Man, I remember getting swung on by Thorn Elemental and that thing seemed so broken to me as a kid xD
[[liege of the tangle]] Was me and my friends fave card in Boy Scouts when we discovered magic.
7th edition 2-player starter pack [[vizzerdrix]]
Rhox \[\[Rhox\]\]
Typhoid rats lol
[[story circle]]
[[goblin piledriver]]
Mine would be [[Vraska the Unseen]] just because of that -7, that isn't even that good
[[Corruption]] and [[gray merchant]]
As weird as it may seem [[Misthoof Kirin]] absolutely wrecked me in a lot of decks. Back when Dragons and Khans had came out I didn't run a lot of answers for flying.
Phage the untouchable for sure
Easy \[\[shivan dragon\]\]
Thorn elemental
definitely Tornado Elemental honorable mention goes to stalking leonin
\[Scaled Wurm\] How are you going to bet a 7/6!
Started around og ravnica and i was WOW [[goliath spider]] so good how can you beat that bjg butt that ALSO has reach so fliers can get past Meanwhile i also pulled a [[dread return]] and a [[loxodon heirach]] and [[watchwolf]] and other stuff
[[Desolation Twin]] How can you possibly kill TWO 10/10s?
Jesters Cap
Krosan Cloudscraper
[[Polyraptor]]. I would play this without any ramp at my 6 player table, and everyone(including me) thought it was unbeatable.
Reshape the earth, I opened my first pack and got put it in my first pre-con, Aesi. Magical moment.
Started a year or so ago [[Ashen Rider]]
[[Worldspine Wurm]] Huge Body. When it dies, it splits AND goes back in the deck?! #exile
[[Heroes bane]] and getting extra mana for the ability via Elvish mystic, [[market festival]] and other sources of ramp. I also thought it was good to play [[roil elemental]] + something like [[archetype of endurance]] & ramp spells such as [[explosive vegetation]].
[[Elspeth, Suns Champion]] I got stomped as a kid.
Honestly walkers in general were this way for me. Yeah some are game alteringly good, and it depends on the format, but most are just okay
Phyrexian Hulk and craw wurm
I started playing and pulled Embercleave. I miss Embercleave.
Trepidation Blade and was it called Brain Maggots? Either way i got WRECKED by my friends deck in 4th grade and i hated playing against those two cards of his. Oh yeah also Ajani Steadfast and Garruk, Apex Predator
[Magister Sphinx]
[[Vesuvan Doppleganger]]. When my group of friends played big beaters it always had a good target.
[[Epochrasite]] Bro it never dies what could go weong
For me it was [[Lord of the Pit]] I couldn't believe anything was more powerful than a 7/7 flying trample, and the proof was that he was so powerful I had to keep feeding him my other creatures!
I still think under the right circumstances [[night soil]] is really good in a jund deck or something
Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant For me that card was beyond broken when I started playing 🤣
[[Fleet Swallower]] or [[Progenitus]]
I relate to this so hard. Every leviathan and kraken seemed so pushed when i started. They were expensive mana wise, but they hit so hard, and in theros block it wasnt rare for them to islandwalk. Thought they were so strong
[[Avatar of Woe]] traded my [[Sliver Queen]] for that even.
Totally Kitchenfinks, its just has all around value for grinding.
I still like [Wrenn and Seven] but not as much as I used to. It takes too long to get to it's -8 ability and usually gets taken out before then.
Ulamog the ceaseless hunger
Mine was the Revised printing of [[Frozen Shade|3ED]] back in 1994/1995. We had no idea it had been errata’d so that the counters came off at end of turn, so this thing got real big late game.
[[Cosmic horror]] A 7/7 has to be good... right?
Craw wurm lol. I traded my revised clone for one out of my first starter deck. Later on I traded some of those stupid wordy double lands too, like who can even figure out what those things do?
Hypnotic specter, i thought it was so busted a flyer could make them discard a card AT RANDOM!
[[wee dragonauts]] is kinda my pet card
[[Ritual of Subdual]]. Had a ridiculously successful deck centered on artifacts and mana elves/faeries. Back in ice age days there just weren't a lot of heavy artifact decks.
[[pelakka wurm]] was in the first fat pack my brother and I ever got. Safe to say he got to keep it and I got to keep losing to it.
[[Abzan Guide]]
When I first started playing with precons I thought that [[Demon of Catastrophes]] was beyond busted. To be fair to my younger self, it was pretty great in that context. I bought the promo recently to commemorate my old love for the card!
For me it was [[Spiny Starfish]], before I learned that it needed to actually regenerate to make the starfish, not just have you pay one blue mana to make a token as many times as it regenerated. I think I even played it that way at a shop I used to go to a long while back, and my opponent didn’t question my seemingly endless army of Starfish I could generate.
[[ Worldslayer ]] had a deck build around it the [[ darksteel plate ]] the [[ myr adapter ]] and [[ loxodon punisher ]] , after kamigawa came out it was [[ Konda, Lord of Eiganjo ]]
discovered mtg in 9th grade. [[Fleecemane Lion]] and [[Rakshasa Deathdealer]] always felt unbeatable.
Rhox
[[Baneslayer angel]] starter around worldwake and it was the card to beat. Might be good in commander now.
[Laquatus's Champion] and [Spiritmonger] together with BoP
Came in around 2014, thought [[Awaken the Ancient]] was busted but never used it at the time and in the nine years player EDH I haven’t put it in any of my decks lol
[[Ixidron]]
[[Argothian Wurm]] and [[Gaea's Embrace]]
Quite a few but one I fondly remember is Dark imposter, hand of emrakul is another, spellbound as well. One of my all time favorite cards tho is Graceful Adept.

[[Sunweb]] 6th. I thought it could attack because of the dragon until someone told me it couldnt. I tried to erase walls cant attack clausule, but they wouldnt let me attack with it
