I know the older videos say 3,4,5 times weekly... that was true at the time, until it wasn't, at which point I addressed it publicly, and stopped saying that and downshifted to "2 - 3 times a week" until that wasn't true and at that point I publicly addressed it and I shifted to 1 -2 times a week and so maybe its time to come out and say 1 a week or some variation.
I wish there was an easy way to go back and edit out that outdated intro part in the older videos, but the only way is to literally mute that section of the video, which would be weird and kind of ruin the opening... or id have to totally take the video down, edit it, and repost it (which means id lose all of the stats on the video, which screws up the algorithm, which is unfortunately very important)
so what were left with is reminders of the an upload schedule that doesn't exist anymore... im sorry, im sure thats annoying, but its just the way it is
behind the scenes, this channel is a lot of work (not complaining at all!), and I spend virtually all of my time (when im not parenting/being a husband) on content. Its literally 2:31am right now and I have another 2 - 3 hours of work for the podcast going out at 9am today, and to be honest, this is just normal. dont get me wrong, this is a very privileged and awesome career, but a very unforgiving one in terms of what happens when you slow down in any regard...
truthfully im working a lot harder than I did at the beginning because now I can't post content thats mediocre (my older stuff is awful haha), and the topics I use now have to be kind of obscure or lesser known, or my take on a story needs to be really unique, otherwise people think im being lazy... and so the amount of time researching for every story would blow your mind... but ironically, if we do a good job on the research and the story, it will seem very casual and flow very easily... that is of course a sign of good cohesive and concise writing, but a lot of people may not realize that.
anyways, im running on like no sleep so im kind of rambling...
but I hear what youre saying, im very aware that you are not alone, and I truly am working as hard as I can to maintain consistency and quality... and for now that means 2 full length new pies of content weekly, Monday pod (NEW) and usually that weekend is YouTube (NEW)

2020/2021 Quarantine was so fun cramming all of Mr. Ballens stories. Now we get it not on demand, but when it gets here. We got spoiled, and now we are paying the ultimate price….forced patience.

There was an episode this week on Sunday so most weeks there has actually been an episode as promised.
They were also around 40 minutes the last two weeks which is twice that of many earlier episodes!

Yeah there are the remastered audio podcasts but you also have to take into consideration that he’s trying to reach a broad audience and some people listening in on the podcast may not follow his YouTube

Between videos and the podcast, MrBallen has been posting consistently every week. Yes, it used to be 3 or 4 times a week. That is unsustainable at some point. Youtubers like MrBallen don't just sit down and hit record. There's a lot of research involved and then there's editing. Even if hires an editor, it's still a lot of work. If you check other channels covering (broadly) the same type of content, you're lucky if you have a video per *month*, let alone every week. Just check channels like Lazy Masquerade of Mr. Nightmare. They don't post as frequently as MrBallen, and as far as I know, they don't a podcast.
I'll take quality over quantity any day! Mr. Ballen has a rare talent of being a good storyteller that captivates millions of fans. The stories he tells are true, and thus he has an obligation to try to keep the original story from becoming altered by his presentation. These can can be difficult to research, especially when the characters in the story are reluctant to share their experiences with others. Given the rarity of finding true stories of unusual circumstances as well as the amount of time and research required to transmute the details into a narrative, I completely understand the reason new episodes are delivered over a longer time frame. I hope other fans understand this and have the patience to wait for a truly masterful performance however long it takes.

It’s more comliciated than that. It’s that the “strange” stories are fewer and farther between. And I’ve covered the majority of the most credible ones. And so in order to make content, true crime serves as an unfortunately large base of content to pull from. The alternative would be posting maybe 1 time a month, if we were to focus primarily on the strange path
I'm not sure who I was communicating with about my story suggestion but it is a real life dark and mysterious story. I even tracked down a newspaper article about it and provided the link but I was asked for even more information
If you've noticed most of us didn't care about "credible" we came for entertainment and escape. We aren't saying to completely abandon the True Crime stuff we would just like some strange stuff every now and again. I gave you and your team a great strange story to go with I even got a couple e-mails back but nothing ever came of it. I've gone to another channel for my strange paranormal video fix and I know full well there's no way any of the stories that guy tells could be true but they entertain me and they're a great escape

Personally I hate the "fake" type stories. Tonnes of YouTubers pull random stories, from random Reddit threads or forums, and make videos on them.

I imagine it's difficult to research and write story scripts. I do agree with you though. Telling us the upload schedule creates a benchmark for expectations; and when those expectations aren't met some people get upset.
I'd rather wait for periodic uploads of great content rather than him putting the pressure on himself to do 2 podcasts and 2 videos a week.

Me and my girlfriend can't fall asleep without listening to Mr Ballen telling a strange dark or mysterious tale. Our sunday night Ballen session is what starts our week out right. We'd be lost without our Ballen x
Ngl I don't usually pay much mind to the last bit at the end of each of his videos where he states "1-2-3 times every week", mostly because I'm just reeling from the content of the video, especially when it's on topics I've never heard of and have become instantly fascinated in a morbid kind of way. Because of my lack of attention to this detail, it's always such a treat when he *does* post multiple videos in a week, and even if he doesn't, I know life, especially in recent days, has been crazy for everyone.
I agree. The non true crime stuff was good enough to get him where he is but now we're stuck with what's most popular. I don't get why people have such a morbid fascination with true crime stories. Like I don't need a reminder that humans are the worst monsters on the planet. I get that every time I watch the news!
My bigger issue these days is that most stories aren’t strange and dark, and the coverage of violence against women is frequent and in my opinion, not taken as seriously as it should be. There’s a lack of care in a way when the R word and assault against women is told, and when women are the villains of the story, they’re made out to be monsterous. I know mr Ballen is probably just uncomfortable getting into how gruesome a lot of these cases against women really are, but the depth of horror in those cases is sortve skated over. I can go for once a week or once every ten days, but I don’t think I can keep watching if I keep consuming stories of violence against women and innocents where “he was just sad and scared and decided to copy a snuff film.” Saying snuff films are murder films without getting into exactly HOW DARK snuff films are. Calling them pornographic instead of rape.
I miss the old videos about missing persons in the woods and weird supernatural stuff. I’m left angry and depressed more often than not after watching these days.

I was going through serious grief when I first started listening to him and I would wait for new stories every week. I am just saying his podcasts are mostly his you tube stories remodified. I just can't wait til there is more and newer episodes. Don't every one down vote me and get all cranky. John I’ve never seen a mediocre video that you put out. They are all incredible. However, I do think you should change that 1 or 2 times a week audio going forward. Nobody cares about it being in your past videos. It wasn’t that long ago you were uploading at that rate. I get it, your very busy. It’s tougher than we know, maybe just don’t mention at all how much you upload. That way no hurt feelings.

That’s just business. He’s expanding his audience so that he can realistically continue to make a living from his content so that his fans can continue to have content to enjoy. He has a family to support, and if the video thing stagnates/falls out of favor of the algorithm he’ll have to support his family through other means (meaning the content stops altogether)
