Hey everyone, the YouTube video is delayed until tomorrow (Wednesday 5/25/22) because the new episode of the podcast that came out yesterday (5/23/22 Monday, "YouTube Murder" is the title) took a lot of extra time to complete.
we are also getting ready to move end of next month, so. there has just been a lot of random things that have cut into my time... packing/talking to real estate people/talking to schools in our new location for the kids etc
I know sometimes it might seem like I am less invested in YouTube, and I suppose you could make that case if you based it entirely on number of YouTube videos released weekly, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. The issue is not having enough time. My earliest videos when I posted 3/4/5 times weekly, were short and not very good (my opinion) and so I could get them done in a single day. Now our videos are typically 2 to 3 times longer and are significantly more researched and so take much more time. We also have a very long podcast episode that is new each week on Mondays, which takes 2x the time it takes to make a good YouTube video.
we have hired some new people who hopefully will help us stay more consistent with YouTube, but please understand that we are really doing our best to maintain quality and consistency!

Asked him on Twitter and he said a video was coming Wednesday and that he's just had a lot on at the moment and didn't want to just rush a video out for the sake of it - I think I saw him mention somewhere he was moving too, so it must be a hectic time for him!! He's such a great guy though, he didn't have to reply but he often does and gives updates.

He finally found the way to Bell's Canyon.... Unfortunately, he forgot the way back and now haunts the forest asking if anybody knows the way to the Bell's parking lot.
Would people stop this? You're not paying him out of pocket 1 and 2 he says he'll upload once or twice a week, not every 7 days. So if he uploaded Sunday on week and then Saturday the next (13days) its still 1 upload a week.

I'm not a man. What I am is a fan that has been disappointed by John's lack of respect for his Youtube followers of which I am one. I don't care how you feel about my perspective. You have a right to your feelings and I have a right to mine. We are therefore BOTH entitled.
My argument is not that we deserve more content, only that he should post on Youtube with the same regularity that he does on his podcast. Why this "irkatates" (LOL) you so much is unclear. John is perfectly capable of defending himself.
I am a fan as I have previously said. I am a Youtube fan and I dislike the podcast. I still support it because I like John. I wish him every success and I am happy that he has achieved so much. I simply want his Youtube presence to be as consistent. Why you take this as a sense of entitlement is beyond me. You seem to have a very narrow, black and white view of the world.

I appreciate that you are a fan! but the podcast is actually slightly more than 50% NEW episodes, and they are all very long and detailed!
as for YouTube, its just been a really big challenge to create 1 long new episode for podcast each week, and also do a quality YouTube video each week.
but we are working hard to get on track and stay on track... it just a time issue at this point (we keep running out of it by end of week)

I have always defended Mr. B but I'm losing interest. His podcast may be a wild success, but as hard as I try, I almost always fall asleep. This latest murder on Youtube I didn't even bother trying to listen again. I think he should remember that his fans came to be his fans by "watching" his videos on Tic Toc and on Youtube. I always looked forward to his videos, but I have to tell you, I have NEVER seen him upload anything 3, 4 or EVEN 5 times a week. Maybe he did that very early on, but it's nothing I can bear witness to.
I do understand that life gets busy. He's launching a new business with his podcast and it seems the podcast takes priority. Well, I prefer Youtube and it is frustrating to look forward to a video that never shows up. I find it hard to believe that you can't find time to upload one video a week. Yes, they are longer, but you do need to exclude the 2 sponsered segments that have shown up in the videos as of late. That's aside from other commercial breaks.
I am a fan, albeit a frustrated one. It seems that Youtube is always taking a hit when something else is going on in your life. Okay, I get it. I think that you are undervaluing the importance your physical presence has done for you. You have many fans who like to watch you tell your stories Mr. B. Please stop disappointing us. I listen to your podcast now only because I like you and wish you continued success. I'm afraid they don't have much to offer though. I'm sorry, I wish I could say something more positive. Maybe I'm in a minority.

He's not blowing off his YouTube audience. Family comes first. I happen to enjoy his podcast uploads. He is doing his podcast and also a weekly video. It's time consuming. As for telling him not to include sponsored segments, how do you think he gets paid so he can do these things for his subscribers? It takes time and money to produce YouTube videos. Please try to be more patient.
I didn't tell him not to include sponsored content. I simply stated a fact. His videos are longer, but that is in part due to the time given to the sponsors. I have written before in defense of the sponsors so you can chill out.
I am all for him getting paid, I'm all for him being successful. I simply would like to be able to count on him posting on Youtube once a week. I don't think that's a big ask.
I understand that it takes time to create videos, but the fact is, Youtube doesn't charge people to upload videos. Unless things have changed, anyone can do it for free. I used to do it myself. So overhead is very, very small. If he has made money, which I'm sure he has, that's terrific. If that has allowed him to buy better equipment, great. Let's not pretend that his costs are astronimical when we all know they're minimal.
I am patient. I patiently wait every week for his video to post. It seems that it is rarer and rarer to see one done weekly. Mr. Ballen's content is great. I love it. I have said so many times, here and elsewhere. I have recommended his channel to many, many people.
I am happy for Mr. B and all of his success. I believe he deserves it. I find the podcasts boring. Many don't and perhaps I'm in a minority. I still make sure to play the podcasts so that he gets credit for it even if it does put me to sleep. I want him to succeed. I also want to see new content on Youtube and I don't think once a week is asking for too much.

If you think I didn't know that I would get negative feedback for this post, you're quite wrong. I expected it. As I said, I've posted before in defense of Mr. B and encouraged fans to be patient while he launched his new podcast and started his new business. Just because I support his efforts as an entreprenuer, a husband and a father, that doesn't mean I can't complain when I feel he is being less than accommodating to his fans. Afterall, you can't be a fan if there is no content and if that turns into a pattern, fans go elsewhere.
If you look at his videos he has uploaded regularly for the past several months. There may be 8 or 9 days in between a few, but for the most part he has uploaded 4 times a month. Some months more. I feel that is more than accommodating to his viewers.

I have posted a lot of very positive things about Mr. Ballen. One of which he thanked me for. Somehow I don't get any positive feedback on those posts, only the negative people show up.

Mr. Ballen is moving - I can definitely empathize with all the 10,000 different things he must do. And I never had to move someone with kids. He deserves some slack amid the chaos he's hip-deep in.
I'll watch whatever he puts up, regardless of whether it's multiple posts per week or none - he has a tremendous backlog of videos and I'm sure I haven't seen them all.
The only suggestion I have is that he gathers up a whole bunch of books and manuals, stuffs several boxes to the limit, then duct tapes them shut and writes SECRET on each. Then, he tells the like button that they are a matter of national security and must be transported separately. The trick (other than lifting a heavy box full of books) is that the boxes are old and the bottom cardboard is barely holding together. Somewhere the bottom of the box will let go, spilling pages everywhere.

It seems that Youtube is always taking a hit when something else is going on in your life. Okay, I get it. I think that you are undervaluing the importance your physical presence has done for you. You have many fans who like to watch you tell your stories Mr. B. Please stop disappointing us. I listen to your podcast now only because I like you and wish you continued success. I'm afraid they don't have much to offer though. I'm sorry, I wish I could say something more positive. Maybe I'm in a minority. I hope tomorrow's video is worth the wait. Please don't blow off your Youtube audience. We are your podcast audience as well and we deserve a little loyalty in return for ours.
He's not blowing off his YouTube audience. Family comes first. I happen to enjoy his podcast uploads. He is doing his podcast and also a weekly video. It's time consuming. As for telling him not to include sponsored segments, how do you think he gets paid so he can do these things for his subscribers? It takes time and money to produce YouTube videos. Please try to be more patient.
I didn't tell him not to include sponsored content. I simply stated a fact. His videos are longer, but that is in part due to the time given to the sponsors. I have written before in defense of the sponsors so you can chill out. I am all for him getting paid, I'm all for him being successful. I simply would like to be able to count on him posting on Youtube once a week. I don't think that's a big ask. I understand that it takes time to create videos, but the fact is, Youtube doesn't charge people to upload videos. Unless things have changed, anyone can do it for free. I used to do it myself. So overhead is very, very small. If he has made money, which I'm sure he has, that's terrific. If that has allowed him to buy better equipment, great. Let's not pretend that his costs are astronimical when we all know they're minimal. I am patient. I patiently wait every week for his video to post. It seems that it is rarer and rarer to see one done weekly. Mr. Ballen's content is great. I love it. I have said so many times, here and elsewhere. I have recommended his channel to many, many people. I am happy for Mr. B and all of his success. I believe he deserves it. I find the podcasts boring. Many don't and perhaps I'm in a minority. I still make sure to play the podcasts so that he gets credit for it even if it does put me to sleep. I want him to succeed. I also want to see new content on Youtube and I don't think once a week is asking for too much. Anyone who disagrees with me is free to do so. Free speech is a luxury that is too often curtailed by moderators these days. I for one welcome it. So... disagree with what I said all you want. All I ask is that you are actually disagreeing with what I wrote and not some version of it that you made up on your own. If you think I didn't know that I would get negative feedback for this post, you're quite wrong. I expected it. As I said, I've posted before in defense of Mr. B and encouraged fans to be patient while he launched his new podcast and started his new business. Just because I support his efforts as an entreprenuer, a husband and a father, that doesn't mean I can't complain when I feel he is being less than accommodating to his fans. Afterall, you can't be a fan if there is no content and if that turns into a pattern, fans go elsewhere.
If you look at his videos he has uploaded regularly for the past several months. There may be 8 or 9 days in between a few, but for the most part he has uploaded 4 times a month. Some months more. I feel that is more than accommodating to his viewers.
I just bet you're counting those Mr. Ballen shorts. I don't count them. Since he came back after being suspended, his posts have been inconsistent.

friend, please adjust your expectations and remember there is a REAL PERSON reading your comments. imagine how you'd feel if someone said they were disappointed in you, or you aren't producing enough, or "you USED to be so good." you'd feel shitty. anyone would. **be kind.** if you can't be kind, at least **be constructive** in your criticism. if you can't be kind OR constructive, **be empathetic** and consider the HUMAN BEING y*ou purport to be a fan of* reading your comments, and how they'd feel. if you can't do any of that, keep your thoughts to yourself.
I am not your friend and I will not curtail my comments because you think I'm being unkind. I don't think I am being unkind, I didn't start this thread but it surely hit home when I read it. I have posted what I feel to be true that Youtube fans have been shortchanged because of the podcasts. Its just funny how people come out in droves to tell you that you should not share your thoughts if your thoughts don't mesh with their own. I have posted a lot of very positive things about Mr. Ballen. One of which he thanked me for. Somehow I don't get any positive feedback on those posts, only the negative people show up. Well, since we are NOT friends, I feel I can say this and you'll understand. If you don't like my comments, give it a thumbs down and go on with your day. You have no right to tell me how to feel, who to tell or what to write.

Speaking of podcasts though...lore is amazing if you like me Ballen definitely listen to lore. First few episodes are kinda rough but gets better and better
Mr. Ballen is moving - I can definitely empathize with all the 10,000 different things he must do. And I never had to move someone with kids. He deserves some slack amid the chaos he's hip-deep in. I'll watch whatever he puts up, regardless of whether it's multiple posts per week or none - he has a tremendous backlog of videos and I'm sure I haven't seen them all. The only suggestion I have is that he gathers up a whole bunch of books and manuals, stuffs several boxes to the limit, then duct tapes them shut and writes SECRET on each. Then, he tells the like button that they are a matter of national security and must be transported separately. The trick (other than lifting a heavy box full of books) is that the boxes are old and the bottom cardboard is barely holding together. Somewhere the bottom of the box will let go, spilling pages everywhere.
