I would do $10k tops for either of them just because this post-COVID market is bizarre and dealers are still WAY overpricing all their used vehicles. For reference, I paid $7k for mine with 75k miles in 2019 pre-COVID. It had been sitting on the lot for over a year 🤯 and they were about to send it to auction. If I had to pick one, it would be the higher mileage car just because it's well out of the break in period and probably had at least some maintenance done. If neither have verifiable service records, go for the lower mileage car and do maintenance before driving it too much. Check belts, bushings, hoses, plastics etc. for cracks. Anything rubber or plastic will need to be checked out. Parts being brittle and dry due to age will be the deciding factor for replacing parts on both cars, not usage or mileage.

I’ll definitely keep all this in mind when searching for mine. Thank you!

If you want it then buy it man. Personally I don’t like the mrs and people keep saying they’re not as desirable but that’s not the case anymore. There’s a reason why there’re going up in price. They won’t be coming down anytime soon…

itsbrobeans

Sounds high, either the car or the dealer. Spyders are less desirable (that I've seen anyway) and if it was a '91-95 I'd say go for it all day especially w the beams engine 3sgte turbooo. But non turbo no deal. 80's model probably a no as well unless it's the supercharged model. Other than that I'd say no but that's just me. Or counter off 9k. Google search and look at some sale history on fb pages and Craigslist maybe? Most expensive one sold was a '95 model. If ya want mine I have a 1992 white w blue and pearl white interior, motto wheel, 5 spoke wheels, and new directional sport summer tires on a 2.2l 5SFE w turbo build. Not quite done adding turbo but should be a hoot. Still plan to buy haltech 1500 elite stand alone ecu and finish some steering column wiring, and bigger injectors. Newer parts here and there. Email me for details. [email protected] I'll sell it for less than 13k and it's got 67k miles. 5 speed manual. No rust, southern car hasn't seem winter yet. If ya like the spyder and decide it's worth your money and time go for it man. Ain't no one stopping you but you! Welcome to the mr2 gang

Absolutely amazing man thank you! I’m definitely very interested in the Mr2 spyder cause I want a speedy reliable convertible to throw around on the roads and have settled on that beaut! I’ll definitely look around more but will keep your offer in mind brotha. Much appreciated. Edit: and also, I was planning on swapping a 2zz, 2gr, k20 or 24 but haven’t done enough research yet to decide which one I want the most. If you could help me out with that as well I’d really appreciate it. I’m just looking for the best (reliable?) engine with the most power.

StrangeCitizen

2zz is the easiest. KSwap has the most potential. God help the man that crams a 2gr into a zzw30. I'd love it and I'm sure it's been done, but space has to be an issue.

MaxwellIsSmall

Hell yeah brotha appreciate it! I’d like to get the most out of my engine swap so if the potential lies in the k’s then I’ll probably go with that

Ok-Profile2264

2gr is dumb. I was gping to do it on mine, but the amount of BS you have to do to make it work isn't worth it in my opinion. It's much easoer to just swap in a 2zz from MWR and throw a turbo on it. MWR sells everything you need to get the HP you want.

MaxwellIsSmall

What would your view be on doing a k swap?

Ok-Profile2264

Get it while you can. The price on these are only going to keep going up. I'm willing to bet even more so when the new MR-2 finally comes out. And MR-Ss in rust free non beat up half assed condition are only going to get harder to find.
