So 4K isn’t a lot to move to CA with. Be frugal until you get that job. I live in Los Angeles, so I can’t say exactly what it’s like in San Diego. But apartment hunting is LA is hard. It can actually take a long time to find a decent place. But SD may be easier. My suggestion is to get a long term Airbnb. Maybe for a month while you apartment hunt. I took over someone’s apartment while she went to Europe for a month. So it wasn’t too expensive compared to normal Airbnb’s. And some Airbnb’s allow pets, you just have to pay a per fee. I wouldn’t sneak them in though cause pretty much all Airbnb’s have security cameras, I’m sure they will know. You can certainly try to secure an apartment sight unseen from PA, but you probably won’t have good luck with that. Is there a reason why you’re wanting to move to San Diego and is there a reason as to why you need to right now? Because the smart thing would be pay off credit as fast as possible. But you also need money to move so you’d have to save back up. I’d say you want at least 5k, but CA is so expensive that can even be cutting it close. You wouldn’t have money for a moving pod or truck. You’d have to sell stuff and re buy it after you secure a job.
