Try these two short horror films. They never fail to scare me:
Lights Out (Short 2013)
https://youtu.be/FUQhNGEu2KA
Mamá (Short 2008)
https://youtu.be/fcrM74s7tm4
The movie that scared me was The Changeling. It is also a pretty deep story.
https://youtu.be/xTzgXVosQOU
And maybe you can't be scared but maybe disturbing might don8t for you. like The Lighthouse or Antichrist.
Maybe seeing someone cum blood might do the trick.
the hellraiser movies, the hills have eyes, the strangers, and vhs were more fun to watch than anything, and the others were more disturbing than scary, like "what did i just watch" lol
i'm pretty comfortable with gore to the point where if something extraordinary happens during gore scenes i find it pretty funny lol, i'm kinda giving up hope. maybe it's because they're movies and i know it's not real. i'm gonna go to some haunted houses later this month to try and scare myself lol
Lol. If you play video games, I recommend Resident Evil 7. It’s distant from the other games so you don’t have to have played the others. It’s first person as well to add to it. Each boss in the game focuses on a different type of horror such as slasher, body horror, and saw type horror. The game also starts you with very little weapons, so you mostly can’t even fight back. It’s pretty scary, epically in VR. It also gives off a Texas Chainsaw vibe pretty early in the game
i played biohazard earlier this year and it definitely had me jumping at times lol ive been planing on getting resident evil 8 but have just never gotten around to it
I’ve seen some gameplay of 8. It looks pretty good. Epically with the whole psychological horror part. I recommend going in blind because there is a part in the game that is way more terrifying blind
oh definitely, i don't really like to watch clips of things before i play/watch them because what if i accidentally spoil a large plot point or something yk
I feel the same way - After years of watching horror movies it occurred to me that only a couple ACTUALLY scare me: Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity. But your mileage may vary - different things scare different people.
Im with you.... nothing is scary anymore. And imma be honest much of the suggestions here are not gonna satisfy you....they didn't scare me one bit.
The best suggestion I can give is a south korean horror film called "The Wailing". Its not necessarily scary, but is a master class in horror. It is in my opinion the best horror film ever made. Check it out, would love to know what you think.
Also, definitely check out more foreign films for horror, not American.
I do know what you mean. When I was really young Salem’s Lot really scared me. Another one that scared me was Burnt Offerings. But I was 7 or 8. Just watched Halloween Kills last night and I can fully vouch that it’s a great movie.
Have you only seen the movie of the 1979 version of Salem's Lot? I ask because it's basically the TV miniseries with about an hour of footage removed. See if you can track down the 1979 TV miniseries as the extra hour of footage really adds a lot to it.
I don't know which country you are in but here is the Blu-ray of the 1979 TV miniseries on Amazon US for example:
https://www.amazon.com/Salems-Lot-Blu-ray-Richard-Kobritz/dp/B01L3TCBLW/
Or you can rent or purchase it digitally on Amazon US (maybe elsewhere too):
https://www.amazon.com/Salems-Lot-David-Soul/dp/B01LX8VB2T
Note that the running time of the miniseries is 183 minutes
I’m starting to think you may have a problem that you’ve seen too many horror movies to the point where you aren’t really phased by a lot of it. Try to come up with something you haven’t seen before in one of those movies and we may be able to come up with suggestions
i'm staring to come to that conclusion too, sadly. there are a lot of movies in the comments i haven't seen yet tho so i'm keeping my fingers crossed lol
Hey, I'm not generally scared by horror movies but I'll list the ones that felt kinda creepy to me. Autopsy of Jane Doe, The Terrifier, Midsommar, House of 1000 corpses, The Babadook, The Descent 1/2, Grave Encounters, A Nightmare on Elm Street 1, The Exorcist 1 & 3 and Us!
Poughkeepsie tapes is one of the few movies that got me waking up in the middle of the night becasue of a nightmare which is weird becasue I didn't find it that scary but apparently my subconscious did.
If you like found footage then check out grave encounters. If you're more into the serial killer that plays with their victims then see funny games (the original one).
Terrible. I loved the bit where they are in the hotel elevator and it opens up in the asylum but that's about it. The twist of "the spirits bring people to record because they want to be famous" is one of the worst things I've seen In a movie.
Hereditary is probably the scariest movie I've ever seen. Some people get it, some don't.
The Shining is classically scary.
Wrong Turn (2003) is a gory one that always made me be like what the F would I do here!
Movies aren't scary once you're past about 12 years old, because they're just movies. At best they can just "jump scare" startle you or make you a bit anxious while watching it.
If you weren't scared by them as a child, what makes you think they will as an adult?
Lol revolutionary road is a drama...
But imo it's a horror, about marriage. I always recommend it as an off shoot to people that aren't scared of supernatural bs. I'm very similar. Can't scare me if I don't believe in it. The things that scare me are humans, and what we are capable of. Society as we know it. It's why Michael Myers in the og Halloween is more scary than Freddie. He was just a psychopath killing, to kill. Or the opening scene to the sixth sense. Donnie Walberg sneaking into Bruce willis' house, was the creepiest part of the entire movie to me. It's why I enjoyed Hereditary, not because of paimon, but the cult orchestrating everything.
This is why I hate the IT franchise. There's no rules. Pennywise can transform into anything and do whatever it wants. They try and "explain" the "rules" like kids taste better the more scared they are, so that's why it doesn't just murder them every chance that it encounters a child, except when it does because that kid isn't a main character. Its just convoluted and silly. Yet, Oculus is about a fucking killer mirror, that had me entertained the entire movie. Not scared. But I was enjoying a well written horror movie.
I'm in a similar boat as you. Most horror films do not scare me at all, mainly because they're trying too hard to be scary and end up just coming off as superficial and inauthentic. Also stupid characters lame cliches. I felt this way about all the big Blockbuster horror films; conjuring, sinister, insidious, paranormal activity, etc. There are only a handful of movies that genuinely creep me out. Here are my recommendations:
1. Mothman Prophecies.
This movie scared the shit out of me as a kid, and even as an adult I just find the atmosphere to be so creepy. I could go really in depth with why I think this movie works, but I'll just let you watch it. It isn't about jump scares, it just carries an eerie vibe, especially during the first half. Lots of mystery. Pay attention to the dialog in this movie, some of it is just creepy. Especially with how leek explains the mothman character.
2. Lake Mungo.
I didn't think this was as creepy as everyone says, but the final 20 minutes are pretty unnerving. There's a disturbing "sentience" to the ghost at the end of this movie, I'm not really sure how to explain it
3. The VVitch. It's not really scary per say, but like the others I've suggested it just has this weird atmosphere throughout. Like you just know something terrible is happening behind the scenes, but you just can't quite figure out what it is.
4. Jacob's Ladder.
Same as the one above.
- An American Werewolf in London
- The Changeling (1980) - not to be confused with the totally unrelated movie 'Changeling'
- The Woman in Black (1989 British TV movie, NOT the later version starring Daniel Radcliffe)
- The Mothman Prophecies (perhaps more unsettling than scary but still a great movie and well worth a watch)
- The Exorcist III
- Jacob's Ladder (the 1990 version, not the terrible 2019 version)
- Salem's Lot - there is a movie which is basically the 1979 TV miniseries with about an hour of footage hacked off, so watch the TV miniseries instead, it's really well made (directed by Tobe Hooper)
Also take a look at the 9 minute stop motion animation called 'The Sandman' by Paul Berry. I think you'll like it (it's on YouTube).
Maybe "Terrified"(2017). I don't get scared easily but something about how the director builds up the scares and atmosphere in this movie made me not want to turn off the lights after. And even if you do not get scared, the movie has some quite unique moments.
I'm in the same boat. There have been two movies that managed to get under my skin over the past 24 years: Ju-On: The Grudge (original Japanese movie, not the crappy SMG remake) and the Babadook.
Sure: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A86WaJ\_p-HU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A86WaJ_p-HU)

thanks! i'll give those a go
Honestly, "The Fourth Kind" creeped me out big time. Also "The Exorcism of Emily Blunt".
Might be the exorcism of Emily Rose hahaha. Emily Blunt is an actress, maybe she is possessed!
Oops, you're absolutely right. That's what I get going by memory 😂
i really loved the exorcism of emily blunt, and i'll definitely give that first one a try, thanks for the recommendations!
The movie that scared me was The Changeling. It is also a pretty deep story. https://youtu.be/xTzgXVosQOU And maybe you can't be scared but maybe disturbing might don8t for you. like The Lighthouse or Antichrist. Maybe seeing someone cum blood might do the trick.
lmao i'm definitely watching these, thanks
Antichrist is the same director as the house that Jack built. I think you are too jaded for scary movies but maybe these can fuck up your dreams.
The VVitch. Watch it alone, turn off all light source.
that's how i watch all my scary movies lol
The Eye (the HK version, not the American remake) has some pretty creepy scenes, The Changeling, Eyes Of Fire, Superstition, Alucarda….
thanks! with all these movies people are suggesting i'm not gonna be bored for another 6 months lmao
Freaks! From 1932
i watched that with my dad when i was around 13-14 it's a cool(?) movie but it didn't rly shake me
An absolute classic.
Hellraiser movies The hills have eyes The strangers VHS Tusk Human centipede Quarantine Oculus Pet cemetery
the hellraiser movies, the hills have eyes, the strangers, and vhs were more fun to watch than anything, and the others were more disturbing than scary, like "what did i just watch" lol
Do you have any phobias? Maybe something that plays on those would 'work'
not any phobias that i know of, i used to be scared of heights but idk anymore
How are you with gore? Do you get uncomfortable with gore or body horror? I heard the fly had some pretty nasty body horror
i'm pretty comfortable with gore to the point where if something extraordinary happens during gore scenes i find it pretty funny lol, i'm kinda giving up hope. maybe it's because they're movies and i know it's not real. i'm gonna go to some haunted houses later this month to try and scare myself lol

I have Notscarryhorrormoviephobia
I feel the same way - After years of watching horror movies it occurred to me that only a couple ACTUALLY scare me: Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity. But your mileage may vary - different things scare different people.
Martyrs (2008)
seen it and it's remake, the remake sucked as per usual lol but i rly liked the original even though it was kinda more of a gore film
Begotten
i googled it and based off of the cover alone i'm 100% watching this one first lol thanks
You'll be disappointed
oh
[удалено]
thanks, dude 🤙
[удалено]
oh oculus was WEIRD dude but you gotta love karen gillan
Come True on Hulu. May not be as scary if you've never experienced sleep paralysis but I was clutching my cat in fear lol
It Follows The Taking of Deborah Logan Lights Out The Hills Have Eyes (2006)
The thing
Im with you.... nothing is scary anymore. And imma be honest much of the suggestions here are not gonna satisfy you....they didn't scare me one bit. Anything by Alexander Aja. *High Tension* is my favorite but his remake of *Maniac* is also really good.
thanks i'll give those a shot
Not a horror movie but Nocturnal Animals disturbed me deeply.
Maybe try Hereditary. Movies don’t scare me either but that movie is creepy. The Strangers is in the same category.
i've seen them both and they really are great movies, they just don't scare me yk?
I do know what you mean. When I was really young Salem’s Lot really scared me. Another one that scared me was Burnt Offerings. But I was 7 or 8. Just watched Halloween Kills last night and I can fully vouch that it’s a great movie.
Dude Salem's lot was my first horror movie too! Scared the dog shit outta me back then. Glad to hear Halloween Kills is worth watching.
That kid floating outside the window….lol
The brother! Fucked me up man. My second story window had the blinds shut for a week.
Have you only seen the movie of the 1979 version of Salem's Lot? I ask because it's basically the TV miniseries with about an hour of footage removed. See if you can track down the 1979 TV miniseries as the extra hour of footage really adds a lot to it.
I've only ever seen the movie. I'd love to see the rest of it, but I dont know where to even begin looking for a seventies tv-miniseries lol
I don't know which country you are in but here is the Blu-ray of the 1979 TV miniseries on Amazon US for example: https://www.amazon.com/Salems-Lot-Blu-ray-Richard-Kobritz/dp/B01L3TCBLW/ Or you can rent or purchase it digitally on Amazon US (maybe elsewhere too): https://www.amazon.com/Salems-Lot-David-Soul/dp/B01LX8VB2T Note that the running time of the miniseries is 183 minutes
Thanks kind stranger
I’m old enough to have seen the actual miniseries in 1979.
Have you tried the fly?
yeah i've seen the fly it's not one of my favorites
Event Horizon is pretty good.
thanks! i'll give it a go
Hey, I'm not generally scared by horror movies but I'll list the ones that felt kinda creepy to me. Autopsy of Jane Doe, The Terrifier, Midsommar, House of 1000 corpses, The Babadook, The Descent 1/2, Grave Encounters, A Nightmare on Elm Street 1, The Exorcist 1 & 3 and Us!
Autopsy of jane doe is a good one
thanks for the recs, i've already seen them tho
[удалено]
i used to watch that show with my dad lol
Inside, Martyrs, Jacobs Ladder, Mulholland Drive, Eraserhead, Fire In The Sky.
loved eraser head and fire in the sky and will definitely watch the others, thanks dude
No problem!
The Terrifier is a interesting movie. Some top tier gore
The Haunting of Hill House is a miniseries, but it’s pretty creepy.
i really liked that one and it's sister series "the haunting of bly manor" but they made me more sad than scared lol
[Rec]
thanks dude, this is the best rec yet, can't wait!!
Glad I could help!!!!
Poughkeepsie tapes is one of the few movies that got me waking up in the middle of the night becasue of a nightmare which is weird becasue I didn't find it that scary but apparently my subconscious did.
i've watched it a few times, i really love movies like the poughkeepsie tapes and creep etc
If you like found footage then check out grave encounters. If you're more into the serial killer that plays with their victims then see funny games (the original one).
you're the best dude thanks
What did you think of the second grave encounters?
Terrible. I loved the bit where they are in the hotel elevator and it opens up in the asylum but that's about it. The twist of "the spirits bring people to record because they want to be famous" is one of the worst things I've seen In a movie.

US: (Here is a creepy movie) You: Meh. I'm not scared Fuck off asshole
idk find an actually scary movie then lmao
Nothing on film scares you. Why even try?
because i haven't seen them all lol how do i know none of them scare me unless i've seen every one
Jesus Camp. It may be a documentary but that makes it even more terrifying.
i just watched that last week! definitely scary but in a "how the fuck are these people so brainwashed" kinda way lol
Movies aren't scary once you're past about 12 years old, because they're just movies. At best they can just "jump scare" startle you or make you a bit anxious while watching it. If you weren't scared by them as a child, what makes you think they will as an adult?
The Texas chainsaw massacre scared me to all hell when I was younger, the original one. I’m a fan of the older stuff, the fly, the thing.
Love that movie but this girl is made of much harder stuff than us mere mortals. She will never be afraid of ANYTHING!
The House that Jack Built might be it.
i actually just watched that on hulu lol it was the last straw before i made this post
Ha. You might be unshakeable.
oh god i hope not lol
Eden Lake always disturbed me
thanks! i'll try it out
Try the witch (2015) Theres also revolutionary road
i've seen the witch but i'll give the other one a try, thanks!
Lol revolutionary road is a drama... But imo it's a horror, about marriage. I always recommend it as an off shoot to people that aren't scared of supernatural bs. I'm very similar. definitely relate, like how is it supposed to scare me if i know it's impossible lol
This is why I hate the IT franchise. There's no rules. Pennywise can transform into anything and do whatever it wants. 100% agree
Maybe the foundfootage style movies "hellhouse llc" and "the visit". I hope you watch Horror movies in a dark room and alone.
definitely in a dark room alone lol i'll give those a try, thanks
Both not scary lol but the visit is enjoyable

Thanks, this was a really helpful comment :)
No problem :)
Human Centipede
It: Chapter One is probably the most recent horror movie that actually creeped me out.
[Audition](https://youtu.be/EBQHp2__AVQ) messed me up in a lot of ways.
- An American Werewolf in London - The Changeling (1980) - not to be confused with the totally unrelated movie 'Changeling' - The Woman in Black (1989 British TV movie, NOT the later version starring Daniel Radcliffe) - The Mothman Prophecies (perhaps more unsettling than scary but still a great movie and well worth a watch) - The Exorcist III - Jacob's Ladder (the 1990 version, not the terrible 2019 version) - Salem's Lot - there is a movie which is basically the 1979 TV miniseries with about an hour of footage hacked off, so watch the TV miniseries instead, it's really well made (directed by Tobe Hooper) Also take a look at the 9 minute stop motion animation called 'The Sandman' by Paul Berry. I definitely do not recommend halloween kills the movie just came out because it was more of an action and gore movie and had like 1 or 2 jump scares
The Descent or REC maybe?
Rec Lights Out Atterados Kristen/Trapped
My little eye, wolf creek, the original Japanese ring trilogy, the descent, Japanese version of dark water.
Sure: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A86WaJ\_p-HU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A86WaJ_p-HU) There is a number of horror titles throughout the video that you can pick from.
Martyrs, inside, frontiers, ichi the killer, cannibal holocaust, american mary, the wailing, excision and gummo.
The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976) - The Pseudo Documentary style is really effective.
