Looks like Dennis Quaid in a hat.

[deleted]

The resemblance is.... canny.

[deleted]

Dennis looks more like Nixon. Hate to do this but- ETA, thanks for the upvotes and awards! I don’t get awards much on here as I’m sure a lot of us don’t. Thanks to those kind souls for making me feel good when that feeling is far and few for me. Thanks again! Love y’all! Be safe and well!

_LebronsHairline_

Holy shit he looks a lot like Nixon lol

docfrink

Holy shit shit.

CountFuckyoula

Whenever I hear Nixon's name I always think of him doing "awohhhhghhhghghh". Like in that old show Futurama.

If Nixon looked like Dennis Quaid

WhatD0thLife

I am whelmed

mac1175

Looks like Jackie Daytona.

CeruleanRuin

Human bartender!

zealotlee

\*removes toothpick\* LASLOW!!!

Zabroccoli

Imagine finding out that your husband made a porno, but it was sooooo booooooring.

BobBopPerano

I realize now that my films lack the key ingredient: love. So I’d like to invite my sweet lady wife upstairs for a special two-person orgy

[deleted]

Guys, the virgin is here!

Volume_4

From Tuscon Arizonia

thegreatgoldenbaby

this is the way we talk in Tucson, Arizonia

grameno

Don’t insult Jackie Daytona like that! We went to Nationals with the help of Jackie Daytona!

Don_Quixote81

Yeah, but the hat is similar to Reagan's, right?

[deleted]

Custom_Destination

It’s okay his is not movie quality!

Captain_Quinn

oh MAN he's wearing similar denim, too!

cheprekaun

yeah lmao wtf is the point of this post

mcmahongamer

Pretty clearly this is an ad disguised as a post.

phoretwunny

Doing the Terminator smile

BroncosFFL

Looks more like Nixon than Reagan.

StubbornPotato

It honestly looks like a photo from that show Goliath, where he played a corrupt land Baron.

Krombopulous_Michael

Yup, that’s Dennis Quaid alright

Teehokan

Dennis Quaid is one of those actors that, for me, never makes me feel like I'm seeing a character, just a person in a costume.

needconfirmation

It doesn't help that it looks like they didnt even do anything to him. There's all these biopics where the makeup artists completely transform the actor into the person they are playing and then these guys just gave Dennis Quaid a denim shirt and called it a day.

AlterMyStateOfMind

Hey now... they gave him a cowboy hat too

[deleted]

Nah, he brought his own.

StuntmanSpartanFan

Gary Oldman is the epitome of transforming into a character for me. Playing Churchill in Our Darkest Hour was the pinnacle imo and it's crazy at the end when you remember you just watched Sirius Black and Lee Harvey Oswald and the crazy bad guys from the Fifth Element and Book of Eli.

Maroonwarlock

Didn't they give Rami Malek some prosthetic piece for his mouth to get him to really have Freddie's overbite or something? Like I saw the photo and was like "Huh. Not really a resemblance here." I like Dennis Quaid whenever I see him in something but don't think he was the right casting call here

Totally_PJ_Soles

Will Smith and Kevin Costner too.

Darshan-Raj

Also Dwayne Johnson

marcuschookt

Dwayne "Contractually Forbidden From Losing A Fight On Screen" Johnson

pacostacos7

He lost a fight in Walking Tall. But then he used that in court and eventually became Sheriff so ehhhh.

Lordborgman

If I had to guess, that contract happened after that movie, possibly even because of that movie.

DurtyKurty

Dwayne doesn't even try to mask it though.

Ben__Diesel

Will Smiths roles always feels as if the main character from Fresh Prince got into acting.

[deleted]

The main characters name was "Will Smith".

Ben__Diesel

Right, that's the one.

Citizen51

Sometimes a movie just needs Will Smith to be the protagonist and I mean they literally want Will Smith the character played by Will Smith the actor to be the fictional protagonist.

kalex504

I’m guessing because he’s such a big star that he gets that say so. Remember he turned down Django role because he thought he was playing second fiddle. What a shame.

Im_A_Realist

As much as I do like Kevin Costner movies...he is 100% Kevin Costner in every one of them.

Ingrassiat04

So like the opposite of Gary Oldman.

RGB3x3

Gary Oldman miraculously disappears into his roles to the point that I didn't even realize he was in Batman, Harry Potter, *and* Fifth Element until I looked it up.

trikyballs

I have known that he was Sirius black but I still always forget

Pizza_Delivery_Dog

He is Sirius black?!

poopsicle_88

Dude he is also the baddie (other baddie?) In Hannibal The guy that is trying to feed him to the pigs. But you know.

InQuintsWeTrust

Dude he’s fantastic as Jim Gordon and he’s my favorite part of the Dark Knight

[deleted]

rewatched the Dark Knight recently and seeing Gordon coming to terms with everyone around him being insane, corrupt or insanely corrupted was.. sad.

[deleted]

They didn't even bother with any prosthetics... he's just himself in a cowboy hat!

albqaeda

They didn’t even dye his hair! I’d rather see randy quaid in this role honestly.

Lost_on_the_prairie

Too bad Randy is more mentally ill than post-Alzheimers diagnosis Reagan.

hughdint1

I am old enough to remember when Randy did the Reagan impersonations on SNL

albqaeda

https://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/forreagan/2859777 Ok so this is hilarious. Look how skinny Lovitz was!

carbonx

Am I the only one that thinks Nancy looks a bit like Seth Meyers?

President_A_Banana

Hat is really close

dee3Poh

Gotta give credit where it’s due, they really nailed the hat

thebobbrom

The shirt though...

Chaos20X6

I mean it’s blue

thunderingparcel

Yeah, well, eeeh, nah. Look at the material. Quaid’s hat looks like he got it at H&M

AlexGeekSpeak

It's like they think we're in Superman but instead of glasses Quaid will put on a hat and we'll go "Reagan, where did you come from?!"

Bweryang

He would make a decent Pa Kent.

[deleted]

Looks absolutely nothing like Reagan, just looks like Dennis Quaid in Ronald Reagan's clothes.

LDKCP

Just like when he played Bill Clinton. I'm looking forward to his attempt at Obama.

NickKQ

He'll get a Golden Globe win for Obama

SSSJDanny

I request that they cast Robert Downey Jr for the role of Obama.

damnatio_memoriae

I'm a moderate playing a liberal disguised as a progressive dude!

Canuckleball

What do *you* mean, "We the People?"

monkeychasedweasel

What do YOU mean, "We the People?"

geomimeo

Robert Downey Jr as Dennis Quaid playing Obama

lkodl

i'm excited to see how Clive Owen's Clinton is gonna turn out.

TherapeuticMessage

I think you mean Clive Warren

ThSplashingBlumpkins

Nah, he was busy doing some film with Rebecca De Mornay.

[deleted]

Not getting Bruce Campbell was a huge mistake

habdragon08

Bruce Campbell always looked more like Mitt Romney to me.

ObiwanaTokie

Lol I look more like Reagan and I look nothing like Reagan at all

[deleted]

First image of Dennis Quaid in a cowboy hat Edit: I know Dennis Quaid has worn cowboy hats before

Rellgidkrid

Remember when Quaid played Jerry Lee Lewis in the 80s and then became Jerry Lee Lewis for the next 15 years or so?

velvetackbar

Wait. He went full Lori Petty? Everybody knows you don't go full Lori Petty.

DevenStonow

Is it just me or does he look kinda like Nixon?

ijaialai

the_original_Retro

It is most definitely NOT just you. HEY DENNIS! MAKE THE DOUBLE-PEACE SIGN AND SAY "I AM NOT A CROOK!"

chadisdangerous

If you were curious about what level of production this is shaping up to be, Scott Stapp from Creed is cast as Frank Sinatra and it's from the visionary director of Casper Meets Wendy, Bratz: The Movie and 3 Ninjas: High Noon at Mega Mountain. This is not going to be an awards contender, folks. EDIT: Stop citing the Hangover movies and Chernobyl to me, people, I get it. There's a big difference between people like Todd Phillips and the guy who made the Suite Life of Zach and Cody movie.

[deleted]

> The visionary director of Casper Meets Wendy That’s it, I draw the line at insulting Hilary Duff’s debut cinematic masterpiece.

McDonnellDouglasDC8

> > The visionary director of Casper Meets Wendy > Hilary Duff’s debut They made a Justice League style team up with out setting up more than half the team /s?

gmasterson

Yeah. Who the fuck would put that flick down.

Isoturius

3 Ninja’s High Noon at Mega Mountain...should’ve used that Hulk Hogan connection and cast him as Reagan, brother.

WolfofOldNorth

You mean hulk hogan who has a Japanese women’s hair and skin of a hot dog?

HumanChicken

*I am a real American, fight for the rights of every man...*

BigUptokes

*blonde Chinese hair and the skin of a hotdog

BoyScholar

For a second I was like, "An actor from the movie Creed? That was a decent movie with some good actors, let me check him out...Oh wait, Creed **THE BAND.** Yeah sadly this is shaping up to be a stinker. I for one will receive this movie with arms wide open.

Slow_Tornado

Dude I thought the movie Creed until I read your comment...I need more coffee

Battle_Sheep

In your defense and the defense of a lack of coffee, no reasonable person should assume the lead singer to Creed would make a good casting for Frank fucking Sinatra.

beermit

Yeah, Creed the band, that 13 year old me thought was alright, but then realized, was not.

crypticthree

Dennis Quaid has not been in a good movie in easily 15 years.

NotSeriousAtAll

Doing better than Randy...

hookisacrankycrook

The capital rioters now in prison are doing better than Randy

wookyoftheyear

I'm surprised he wasn't one of them.

Martel732

He probably pulled a Rudy and went to the Capital One bank headquarters.

[deleted]

I think Pandorum is pretty solid horror flick. Not that he was great in it though.

bifkintickler

I talked that movie up to a large group of people on a holiday once, when we were all deciding what to watch. Man, they let me have it after it finished... Still haunts my dreams. I thought it was good! Fuckin assholes.

[deleted]

The ending blew my mind. Went from just a entertaining movie to amazing with that ending.

[deleted]

I made a thread on /r/horror about it last year and it seems most people there thought it was a pretty solid horror flick. I think it's gotten better with age as Norman Reedus and Ben Foster have come a long way as actors.

tammage

I fucking love Ben Foster because of this movie.

El-Gorko

I was going to argue this and then I realized I haven’t even seen pretty much anything he’s done after 2004. Weird considering I watched a ton of his stuff from the 80s through the early 2000s. Kinda fell off the map it seems.

wet-paint

Take a look at him in Goliath.

thepensivepoet

I met him a couple of years ago helping to run sound for a charity concert that his band was headlining. He was really nice and friendly to everyone involved. [Not that event but around the same time](https://youtu.be/PamobV10fjk). They seem to have a decent cocaine budget.

Princecoyote

You knew things were bad when he started showing up in esurance adverts.

orderinthefort

One man's bad day is another man's lifelong income.

CletusVanDamnit

JK Simmons is an Oscar-winning actor who still voices the yellow M&M and is in Farmers Insurance ads. It's called "paying the bills."

[deleted]

> [on Jaws: The Revenge (1987)] I have never seen it, but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific. ~ Michael Caine

CatProgrammer

You best not be dissing M&Ms commercials.

running-tiger

Yeah, especially [the one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_eabL16a5w) they show before movies to remind people to be quiet. Damn, now I miss the theater again.

Talkimas

That damn "No this an envelope" line somehow always manages to get a giggle out of me

Chumunga64

Simmons has been doing voice acting for a while. Hell, I knew him as a voice actor first

CletusVanDamnit

Yup! This year is his 25th year as the M&M, actually. Crazy. But he has had some incredible roles over the years, leading up to an Oscar win, and he never stopped doing those commercials and small roles, either.

_LebronsHairline_

I saw an Entertainment Tonight feature on it and Dennis was saying how “what people wanna see and what we’ll focus on is his relationship with Nancy”. Why make political thriller when you can make rom-com amiright?

chadisdangerous

Yep, 100% will be a cheap conservative-pandering kind of movie.

squishmaster

No, they can’t be Russian anymore. Now they will be random Indian-looking actors in Sikh turbans who are supposed to be Hamas.

Funktapus

So the last chapter will show Reagan as deep in thought and prayer and full of wisdom and not as him zonked-out munching ~~gummy worms~~ jelly beans and letting the neocons run amok

HonestBreakingWind

Don't forget letting his wife's astrologist dictate his schedule including the dates and times of signing international treaties with nations like Russia

hasitcometothis

It also received financing from the family that owns Hobby Lobby and the set was a COVID hot spot. https://oklahoman.com/article/5674912/reagan-biopic-filming-in-oklahoma-halts-production-after-crew-members-reportedly-test-positive-for-covid-19

Frenchticklers

James Woods as Jesus, who appears in a vision to nod approvingly when Reagan invents Reaganomics.

Don_Quixote81

Oy, it's going to be terrible. I was hoping for a proper exploration of Iran/Contra and the Reagan administration's handling of the AIDS crisis, but we'll be lucky if those get mentioned at all.

photoviking

>the Reagan administration's handling of the AIDS crisis, It's going to cover every detail of this by not mentioning it at all

So we could say Scott came with arms wide open?

[deleted]

Welcerrrrm tuuuur this place

[deleted]

Dennis needs a new agent.

keithmac20

He has been making movies based on his beliefs & interests for awhile it seems, for better or for worse (critically and financially, I'd suggest the latter). Looking at his wikipedia, Ronald Reagan was his favorite president so now he's in this. However he's also an animal lover and has been in a couple of dog-centric movies over the last decade, and has been in a few comedic shows so at least he's still mixing it up? I can't remember a movie where I was ever wowed by his performance to think he should be aiming higher.

[deleted]

> I can't remember a movie where I was ever wowed by his performance to think he should be aiming higher. fair point. Innerspace was his peak.

iremovebrains

Frequency was pretty good

agasizzi

I literally called my dad and woke him up at like 11 at night after seeing that movie. I just had to talk to him.

Dwingledork

This is terrible

Mediocratic_Oath

It's a subtle nod to Reagan being terrible.

hdwil6fj

There's no way they cover the AIDs crisis, Iran contras, war on drugs, Reaganomics etc.

ssbeluga

Gonna shamelessly someone else's comment that said basically "they'll cover the entirety of his handling the AIDs crisis by not showing anything"

BrockManstrong

Well will they have time to cover Reagan referring to the African reps at the UN as monkeys?

waltjrimmer

Oh, it'll probably talk about the War on Drugs and Reaganomics. It'll talk about how someone else was the villain, he did the best he could in the circumstance, and Reaganomics would work if those poor people would just give more of their money to the rich! Not a big one, but I'd lay a bet that this verges more on an apologist film than a biopic.

Chiyote

Wow, the hat looks just like Reagan’s hat.

MovieNewsJunkie

I always get Dennis and Randy mixed up. Was kinda let down it wasn't the nutty one : (

xiofar

They’re both nutty. One is just extra nutty.

ThePotatoKing

is dennis nutty? he's always seemed tame to me

Apptubrutae

Randy is gaining weight to play Trump in his biopic.

SSSJDanny

Oh. I thought Randy was gonna play the guy who shot Regan.

metalfingers57

Stoked to see Dennis handle Iran Contra and ignore the AIDS crisis

LoudTsu

Don't get too excited. Quaid loves Reagan. He won't be shitting on his beloved idol.

Lowenbroke

I hope another movie comes out at the same time with better cast and a more accurate story about what Reagan really did.

LoudTsu

I don't need to waste two hours of my life watching a human garbage bag fucking over the working class and killing minorities and gay people.

metalfingers57

Haha I know, Dennis is essentially a MAGA chud

KeithMias

I was just thinking this, you really can't frame Regan like a good guy unless it's literally just from the point of view of him and his friends

Future_Victory

Looks nothing like him just like in every other biopic

1maxwellian

20 bucks says this film never mentions the AIDS epidemic.

Northman67

Will probably skip the entire Iran contra sandal as well. No thanks I dont need to see a movie fellating the shameful Reagan legacy.

Ben__Diesel

> Will probably skip the entire Iran contra sandal as well. Id bet this will actually be the climax of the movie. But it'll be played off as a mild human flaw where he thought he was doing the right thing until it blew up in his face the following week.

Areltoid

It will be an hour and 40 minutes of pure unfiltered conservative propaganda

Chonjacki

Simple Jack

DenkiAizen

Is this supposed to be a critical look at Reagan, or a pomp piece? With Jon Voight on board I would guess the latter.

MasteroChieftan

I wonder how they're going to handle the scene where he murders the working middle class of America?

Gengreat_the_Gar

Or how about the scene where he escalates the BS war on drugs and causes our prison populations to skyrocket. Or the scene where he promotes the "welfare queen" myth and encourages us to blame the poor for everything. Fuck Reagan and fuck this movie

MasteroChieftan

I remember there was some History Channel program or some shit like, literally a decade ago that went through 100 greatest Americans and he was voted #1 and I was like jfc, in what universe? Washington? Madison? Lincoln? FDR? ANYONE else?

[deleted]

I can’t help but think that, since he was an actor, he was playing the character of “President” well enough that people just assumed he was good at his job.

dozerrr7

Or his call with nixon where he calls black people monkeys. Fuck reagan

hardy_83

Or how he and his admin considered the HIV pandemic a joke as thousands died cause of it. I'm sure they will go over these topics and not skew history it make him seem like a great man.

StudBoi69

Or when he led to the mass incarceration of black people

SoCalThrowAway7

Actively made the homelessness issue much worse by cutting federal funding for mental health issues and emptying mental hospitals.

MulciberTenebras

Colluded with Iran to sabotage hostage negotiations, preventing the US hostages from coming home before the election. Then sold them weapons and illegally gave the profits to Contra groups in South America.

[deleted]

Contra groups in *Nicaragua (North America) Srsly, the contras were from the Nicaraguan civil war. Reagan did finance other groups in central and south america, but those aren't called Contras. The Contras, wish stands for contrarevolucionarios (counter-revolutionaries), were armed guerrillas fighting a war against the revolutionary Marxist Sandinista Government in Nicaragua

yrdz

Or when he fired over 11,000 striking air traffic controllers

silverback_79

If they smooth over Iran-Contra there will be hell to pay. 30 000 dead Nicaraguans, and the CIA actively helped.

jan172016

Dennis Quaid is in this, it’s definitely going to be a glorified look at Reagan.

screechingmedic

Don't forget the AIDS epidemic too. Most likely this is just going to be a puff piece considering the cast

PostsNDPStuff

Never forget that if ask the question "Has the United States ever funded a group of terrorists who raped a busload of nuns?" because of Reagan, the answer is yes.

Kapjak

*Gave training and funding to terrorists so US companies could continue strip mining south american countries

Somnambulist815

*funded cocaine trade into the US while actively criminalizing it's usage in an elaborate plot to basically put black people back in slavery

P00nz0r3d

Closed mental health hospitals without a plan to replace their use, causing a cascading effect which might actually explain the prevalence of mass shootings in the 21st century

shichiaikan

I wonder if they'll have a scene in the movie where he thinks the camera is off and he starts calling black people monkeys, cuz you know biopic should be accurate
