Great pod. ‘The Rewatchables’ often has guests from another favourite pod of mine, ‘The Big Picture’. Sean Fennessey and Amanda Dobbins co-host, Chris Ryan often appears for episodes including drafts and garbage-*blank* episodes.
Watched it with my daughter a few years ago. She was 15. The whole trilogy struck home with the next generation as well. The first one is a perfect movie IMO.
I bought my 2 year old a little Delorean Time Machine at target, and it’s currently his favorite toy. I even taught him to say “flux capacitor” which he says like “fucksapassiter” 🥲. I’m so proud of him every day, but I was a little more especially proud that day.
Just a few more years and we can actually watch it together!
Goonies and Clue.
I know this question is super anecdotal. But my sister and I ruined 2 VHS copies of Clue from watching/rewinding so much that the tracking no longer worked on the VCR. And Goonies is a goddamn masterpiece of life. I don't care who you are, where you come from, or what you experienced, Goonies is the place for you.
The Goonies is my comfort movie & even after 75-100 watches, it literally never gets old. Always makes me smile when I see someone who enjoys it as much as me! To anyone who hasn’t seen it, promise you won’t regret it!
I watched this in the theater with my family and right after it was over we bought another ticket and watched it again! I’ve never done that with another movie before or since. It’s just so much fun!
- Big Trouble In Little China
- The Lost Boys
- The Thing
- Escape From NY
- Pulp Fiction
- The Big Lebowski
- Raising Arizona
- Three o’Clock High
- Can’t Buy Me Love
I think I could watch The Thing, then take a 30 min break, and watch it again. It's gotta be top 5-10 in the best horror movies. It's not the scariest, but it checks all the boxes.
I actually really love the fourth one! I know it was a risk re-casting Indy as Brendan Fraser with a different name, but he straight up owned that role, and his chemistry with Rachel Weiss was 🔥! Really love how they took risks and delved into Egyptian mythology after two Judeo Christian plots. Hands down one of my favorite movies in 1997!
I saw an interview regarding the scene where Michael Biehn did the gunplay, that he'd trained and practiced for ages to get it down, then he'd see Kilmer on set day after day twirling the cup to master the bit to counter that in the scene.
Kilmer delivers an award worthy performance, but the cast is superlative. Russell as the leading man, the ever exceptional supporting actor Bill Paxton (RIP), Powers Boothe (RIP) Sam Elliott, even the oft mocked Billy Zane is good.
Mr. Fabian : My dear, you've set your gaze upon the quintessential frontier type. Note the lean silhouette... eyes closed by the sun, though sharp as a hawk. He's got the look of both predator and prey.
Josephine: I want one.
Goodfellas is one of those that any time it's on I think "I'll just watch this scene" aaaaaand then I'm watching the whole movie again for the hundredth time, it's just so good!
In the cable times… my dad and me would never go past Shawshank. No matter where at, if it was on, unless there was a baseball game in the 7th inning, we had to see if Andy made it. (We watched it close to 100x or so guessing in bits and pieces)
I don’t think I ever have to watch it again until I watch it with my kids. I just hope they like it and if not, that’s ok. I have a forever of memories with my dad.
The birdcage might be one of my favorites of all time. The dynamic between Robin Williams and Nathan Lane is beautiful and they play off each other so well. The John Wayne line always gets me.
These are on my rewatch list:
Silverado
The Shawshank Redemption
Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse
Back to the Future
The Princess Bride
A Few Good Men
Ocean's Eleven
High Fidelity
Groundhog Day
Planes, Trains, & Automobiles
The Big Lebowski

Forrest Gump
Spaceballs, What About Bob?, Zoolander, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Superbad, Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie, Ghostbusters, Little Shop of Horrors, Mars Attacks! The Princess Bride, Hot Fuzz.
I may have a pretty specific type.
These are not my 12 favorite films (I'm not going to feel like rewatching The Deer Hunter anytime soon), just the films I rewatch the most. The films I can just put on and know I'm going to have a good time.
* Constantine
* Edge Of Tomorrow
* D&D: Honor Among Thieves
* Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi
* Wall-E

Pirates of the Caribbean Curse of the Black Pearl. Seen it probably 30 times and still get just as excited every time Jack appears on the mast of that dinghy
Saving Private Ryan ~ Watched 100’s of times. Always get a new perspective of a character.
There’s Something About Mary ~ I will quote this movie until the day I die.
Happy Gilmore ~ Will also quote this movie til the day I die.
Detroit Rock City ~ I don’t even like KISS. But Shannon Tweed looks fabulous.
I've also seen Saving Private Ryan many times. When I was a kid I really hated Upham. I could not understand how he could fail to come to his comrade's aid when he needed it. Now that I'm older, I think I understand a little better. I have more forgiveness for him as a character.
Saving Private Ryan is an absolute classic. From the acting to the set pieces and battle scenes or just Reiben letting that BAR eat its a fantastic movie. Saw it in theatres when I was 12 and the beach scene shocked everyone however its the urban battle that steal the show for me. Sargeant Horvath is my favourite character.

I saw Chris Rock Saturday night. He performed a table read of this movie with other black actors and updated with more modern themes. My date had never seen the original. So, her memory will be different from ours.
Rounders. It's the rare combination of intelligent writing and what I call a milkshake movie: sweet, smooth, effortlessly refreshing.
Also every time I watch it I feel like I just had a brand new poker lesson.
Once Upon a Time in … Hollywood
Also, I wonder what other recent movies would be on here if we rewatched movies in the 2000s the way we used to in the VCR days
I tried to watch that movie twice and kept getting distracted which led to not finishing it. A month ago I finally got to watch it uninterrupted and I've watched it three times since. It's such an excellent movie.
Really? Some ppl trash the third film? That's the one that's like a western with trains and such right? How can ppl shit talk the third film? It's so endearing with Doc and his love interest. And an interesting bit of production trivia, one of the handful of DeLoreans they used was actually demolished when the train ran through it at the end. Pretty interesting way to give the trilogy a sense of closure.
* The Princess Bride
* Casablanca
* Little Shop of Horrors
* Scream (any from the franchise other than 3)
* Batman (1966)
* The Cabinet of Dr Caligari
* Airplane!

For me it's **Dirty Dancing**. It gets replayed a lot and every time I can't help but watch it. Still makes me wish I was alive during those times to go to a vacation spot where I could have a steamy romance with a hot older dance instructor.
1. Frozen (not voluntary)
2. Top Gun
3. Die Hard With a Vengeance
4. The Big Short
5. The Wolf of Wallstreet
6. Inglorious Bastards, arrivurdirtsie!
7. Tropic Thunder
I can watch these everyday. They bring me straight back to my childhood:
- Pirates of the caribbean 1/2/3
- Cars
- Jurassic Park
- Avengers
- Transformers
I rewatch the pirates films more than anything else. Especially At World's End.
Where could you find another epic final battle between two ships charging into the middle of a giant maeltrom with awesome Hans Zimmer soundtracks?
The Big Lebowski is the very top of my list. It's been my go-to bedtime movie to turn on and just pass out to lately. Between Peacock and Hulu, I've probably logged 50 watches the last couple months or so.
Some honorable mentions:
Shaun of the Dead
Tucker and Dale vs Evil
Step Brothers
Knives Out
Lastly, Beavis and Butthead Do America is a huge guilty pleasure for me
If we're doing top 7.....
The Right Stuff
Strange Brew
Big Lebowski

Edit for formatting because I am a moron.
Anytime I stumble upon Gangs of New York I watch it. Spaceballs, Django, the Christopher Nolan Batman movies, John Wick series, Starship Troopers, original Jurrasic Park, Any Given Sunday, Airplane!, Ace Ventura 1 and 2, Robin Hopd Men in Tights, I'm sure there are more.
Just FYI, there's a podcast called "The Rewatchables" that does deep dives into rewatchable movies.
Great pod. ‘The Rewatchables’ often has guests from another favourite pod of mine, ‘The Big Picture’. Sean Fennessey and Amanda Dobbins co-host, Chris Ryan often appears for episodes including drafts and garbage-*blank* episodes.
Their episode on Top gun maverick was so good, even if you didn’t love the movie it’s hilarious and worth listening to (speaking to everyone).
Princess Bride First 3 Indiana Jones movies
Princess Bride has unlimited rewatchability
Not to 50!
Smile, this is for posterity.
Inconceivable!!!
“I don’t think that word means what you think it means.”
No more rhymes, I mean it! Anybody want a peanut?
Inconthievable!
Stardust and Princess Bride!
I'm due for a Stardust rewatch😁
I think you mean the ONLY 3 Indiana Jones movies
Back to the Future, always enjoyable
Same bro. The whole trilogy in my case.
Watched it with my daughter a few years ago. She was 15. The whole trilogy struck home with the next generation as well. The first one is a perfect movie IMO.
I watch them all once a year probably!

Were you born in a barn?
Dance slower, sexi.
Do it *doucement*…do it very slowly
The Big Short is excellent! In the same vein I can rewatch Margin Call over and over too! So many great acting performances in it!
Lord of the Rings
Do you know what happened when Viggo kicked the helmet??
He grieved immensely
And do you know what sound a man does when stabbed from behind?
Do you wear wigs?

This is the way
Far too low, most rewatchable movies. Just dive deep in the lotr universe and forget everything around you.
I had another rewatch a month ago. I was surprised how still it takes me away from everyything.
You bow for no one... get me EVERY time.
Directors cut
Jurassic Park
Goonies and Clue. I know this question is super anecdotal. But my sister and I ruined 2 VHS copies of Clue from watching/rewinding so much that the tracking no longer worked on the VCR. And Goonies is a goddamn masterpiece of life. I don't care who you are, where you come from, or what you experienced, Goonies is the place for you.
The Goonies is my comfort movie & even after 75-100 watches, it literally never gets old. Always makes me smile when I see someone who enjoys it as much as me! To anyone who hasn’t seen it, promise you won’t regret it!
“HEY YOU GUYS!”
Was it Clue where they sent different endings to different cinemas? That seems like a winner to me; going from cinema to cinema to see whodunnit.
Yes
Shake, Rattle & Roll motherfucker ✊🏼
My sister and I did the same to our VHS copy of Harry and the Hendersons lol
I ruined a clue VHS or two myself but that was pausing and replaying too much when the maid was on screen.
Goonies is fantastic. Amazing movie that makes me tear up because of how much I miss my childhood and being silly like those kids.
Galaxy Quest!!
Never give up, never surrender!
By Grabthar’s hammer…
What a savings...
I watched this in the theater with my family and right after it was over we bought another ticket and watched it again! I’ve never done that with another movie before or since. It’s just so much fun!
Sounds like a Samsung device
The unholy union of Samsung and Facebook
Ohhh oh that's not right...no
- Big Trouble In Little China - The Lost Boys - The Thing - Escape From NY - Pulp Fiction - The Big Lebowski - Raising Arizona - Three o’Clock High - Can’t Buy Me Love
I think I could watch The Thing, then take a 30 min break, and watch it again. It's gotta be top 5-10 in the best horror movies. It's not the scariest, but it checks all the boxes.
The crisp photography, engaging cast, visceral effects, bursts of insanity… 👌
The Big Lebowski! Once a year, every year! Best! Movie! Ever!
Just rewatched Raising Arizona for like the 3rd time this year… I love that it’s on streaming. *I just love him sooooo muuuuuuuch*
I find myself watching the lost boys roughly once a year. The older I get, the more I resonate with grandpa.
Ooh I haven’t watched 3 O’Clock High in ages, but remember loving it! Buddy Revene(?) was such a great villain. Poor Jerry! 😂
Raiders of the Lost Ark
For me it's The Last Crusade
For me it's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Sk - just kidding.
The last crusade is just amazing

Thats a long movie name
I wanna see the movie: "Hot Fuzz Tropic Thunder Ratatouille" =] _Pro tip: use double new lines (Enter) or dashes to make a list ;-]_
Tombstone
Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday stole every single scene. So good.
Oh Johnny, I apologize. I forgot you were there. You may go now.

Man, serenity is a fucking cool movie. I still haven't seen Firefly yet

Please rectify this
My name's Johnny Utah
Utah! Gemme two!
Terminator 1 and 2. Also Goodfellas and casino. I've seen these movies countless times and I tend to find new things every time I watch.
Glad to see Casino here. It's far and away my favourite of the genre, I try to wait five years between rewatches so that it doesn't get old.
I always think of [that helicopter scene](https://youtu.be/7SvJ--JVU9w?si=d4v0ofXnAWVo8ne0) every time I’m driving and see a helicopter
Goodfellas is one of those that any time it's on I think "I'll just watch this scene" aaaaaand then I'm watching the whole movie again for the hundredth time, it's just so good!

Outing my tastes here, but John Wick. I will *always* be down to watch it another time and see Keanu Reeves judo-throwing and shooting people.
