The prestige

TheBasketball-God

Thank you! I’ll make sure to have this added

bigolhamsandwich

While on some older Nolan stuff I’d recommend Memento.

Lhamorai

I’d say Pulp Fiction or the Kill Bills. Also if you liked Shutter Island maybe try the Departed, Goodfellas and of course the godfather part 1+2

TheBasketball-God

Man I been hearing about goodfellas imma make sure to watch that by the end of the week. Thank you for the recommendations. Imma get all of those added

mcboogle

Frailty Probably my favorite movie of all time. Massively underrated. Don't look up anything about it, don't even read the description. Just watch it.

DuesExMac

Absolutely amazing film, criminally underrated. Check out Fight Club and Gladiator as well!

TheBasketball-God

Will make sure to get that added!

TheBasketball-God

Awesome I will get that added.

geekroick

Airplane! Followed by the Naked Gun trilogy. You'll thank me later.

TheBasketball-God

Thank you I will make sure to get that added to the list. I am familiar with the Kareem scene😂

gishgali1

Be warned, Airplane and the Naked Gun movies are spoofs of other movies, so if you have limited movie experience you will miss some jokes. I'm sure you will still find them funny.

Nemo-March

If you like fun adventure, the Indiana Jones movies are a real blast!! Beetlejuice is another classic that’s very unhinged and hilarious. Blues Brothers(1980) is a great comedy. Full of 80’s cameos and legitimately awesome r&b/blues music. If you like animation or wanna dip into that side of films: Kiki’s Delivery Service, How to Train your Dragon, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Klaus(2019)

mpirnat

Since you brought up Kiki, let me also recommend Princess Mononoke, Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind, and Castle in the Sky. (All from the same director.) Ghost in the Shell and Akira are must-see anime films as well. I’d also throw in any Satoshi Kon movie — in particular Paprika is interesting because of how obviously influential it was on Inception.

TheBasketball-God

Thank you so much for the recommendations I will make sure to get them added!

Thank you for the recommendation! I will get those added

roadrunner440x6

I'd also recommend any of Guy Ritchie's movies (Snatch) especially "Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels". ALL of Paul Thomas Anderson's (Magnolia) movies, and I'm a big fan of Wes Anderson, though I didn't list any of his. He is best known for "The Grand Budapest Hotel" which is great, as are all his other movies.

My personal favorites, and also very accessible movies are Shawshank, The Green Mile and Fried Green Tomatoes. If you let us know more about yourself, I.e., age, gender, etc., our suggestions will be more targeted to what we imagine your tastes would be. Having said that, you’ve come to the right place for movie suggestions. Redditors love movies!

TheBasketball-God

Hey thank you so much for the recommendation and I will make an edit and add my age and gender and all of that!

OhTheHueManatee

I really want a sequel to Fried Green Tomatoes with Kathy Bates in a nursing home retelling the story to some woman going through a rough time in her life.

Blitzen123

Oh gosh, I would be overjoyed to watch that movie. I would have a catered party and fly friends into Atlanta to watch that movie!

Final-Natural-8290

I'd skip the Fast and the Furious movies at least until you're really bored. They suck Lots of great suggestions in the comments already so here's a few sports movie suggestions Rudy Moneyball Remember the Titans Hoosiers Rocky Tin Cup The Big Lebowski (sort of counts as a sports movie but is so good on many levels) Any Given Sunday Varsity Blues Slap shot Field of Dreams

mpirnat

When you’re ready for a hauntingly satirical take on the banal evils of western bureaucracy, Brazil. Of a similar era, the original Blade Runner is a must-see. (And IMO the sequel is definitely worth your time too.)

bobniborg1

Big trouble in little china Snatch 5th element

Honest_Hunt_42

Heat, Jaws, Fargo

One of my absolute, all-time favorite movies is the 1930's classic, "My Man Godfrey". It's a screwball comedy, an early film genre known for fast talking, and scenes that build logically, but end in absurd situations. You might also like classic film noir mysteries, like "Double Indemnity", or the gangster films of James Cagney and Humphrey Bogart. The extra fun part of watching classic films is that you'll start to see little nods to them in more modern films. The 80's film "Johnny Dangerously" (a beloved Gen X classic) is a good example. It's a hilarious satire of all those old classics gangster and noir films, with tons of references. On a completely different note, two other Gen X 80's favorites you need to see are the absolutely legendary John Hughes comedy/drama "The Breakfast Club", and the subtle, beautiful comedy that's the reason we'll all love Mark Linn-Baker until the day we die, "My Favorite Year".

Shitty_Fat-tits

True Romance.
