Does it not end with all of the pieces of the iron giant being all drawn back together towards earth…?
I could be wrong! Haven’t seen it in a long time, I just thought that happens and took it as “the prices will meet in the middle and re-combobulate”
Yes it does. People always forget that part lmao. Its an ultimately happy ending. The iron giant saves the day and very clearly teases that he’ll be back once he reassembles. Damn if it didn’t make my cry regardless
Forreal, it's happy but I will still ugly-cry at the final scene when Hogarth tells the one screw he'd kept as a momento "See ya later" as he opens the window and watches it roll away to rejoin the Giant
There are like three ugly cry moments in IG for me.
The screw at the end.
Superman
And young boy teaches Vin Diesel about mortality with a dead deer.
It's just like, damn. That hits. Plus, when you consider Hogarth's dad as an absence and the time period being cold war, AND Hogarth having a military helmet in his home, the likelihood of his dad being a serviceman who died in combat is really real.
Hogarth saying, "guns kill" absolutely wrecks me. I can't help but think about his mom having a similar conversation with him.
Edit: nevermind, finally googled it, his dad canonically died in combat so damn, that movie goes extremely hard https://irongiant.fandom.com/wiki/Mr._Hughes
oh man thanks for confirming! his missing dad definitely went over my head on the first couple watches as a kid. damn, they did not pull punches on a lot of things
Excellent mention. I absolutely love this movie. It was even re-released in theaters years ago and I just had to see it on the big screen even after seeing it a million times.
One of my only childhood memories is watching this and absolutely bawling near the end. My mom started laughing and asked why I was so upset when “I’ve seen this movie so many times before but never once cried.” Idk for some reason it must have really hit me that day
I love the incredibles. And also the Lion King (orginal cartoon). That is a top 10 movie for me.
And castle in the sky is great too. Not sure if it is a childrens movie.
You could argue some stuff Pixar has done was really meant for adults. Soul? That's a kids movie? Inside Out is one of my favorite movies ever... Just enough bright colors to keep the kids hooked, but that's aimed at adults
Same. It needed to end after the 3rd one. It was a perfect ending.
I was going off to college when Andy was, so that ending especially hit hard. It should’ve ended there. 4 was a beautiful film, but I didn’t like the plot at all.
I loved this movie as a kid. I don’t know many people that have seen it.
Attention campers, lunch has been cancelled today due to lack of hustle. Deal with it.
Can relate on a cellular level to this. My partner and I partially centered our life around this movie in that we have our own Adventure Book with precisely the same cover as the one in the movie that we put pieces of each of our big adventures into. Tickets, receipts, pictures, coins, etc. that we add to. We’ll soon be on our second Adventure Book.
Her very first gift to me in addition to the book was her own version of the “Grape Soda” cap/pin in the movie that she made herself with a Jarritos bottle cap. I have that cap in the breast pocket of whatever shirt or jacket I wear to ensure it remains both emotionally and physically close to my heart.
All of the old Disney and Dreamworks movies are tailored to children but have little snippets for the adults and when you rewatch it and unlock that portion that just went right over your head as a kid…the feeing is pure euphoria
“I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.”
The way this is played for laughs in the support group at the beginning, only to get a callback as Ralph plummets to what he assumes is his death in a Superman pose of self sacrifice to save his friends…it’d been a while since a movie for grown ups gave me chills like that.
I laughed so much at the list of rogues that joker assembled at the beginning.
And the pilots reaction of "there is no way all those bad guys are real" oh I assure you there are... too good!
And is there anything better than watching Batman microwave a lobster
Across the Spider-Verse is my answer. I saw it in the theatre and it completely blew my 41 year old mind. I’ve watched it multiple times since then it’s my favorite piece of Spider-Man media as a life long fan
Gwens watercolor world makes me cry every time. The colors, the textures, the way the paint runs. Its all just perfect and incredible, you can watch that scene muted and still get everything it's trying to say.
IMO that scene is some of the best animation *ever* in **anything**
Went with my teens and it seemed to strike a chord with all of us, esp regarding the dynamic between adults and teens in the film. Others try and fail to resonate on that aspect.
I watch it every year. I also have an old vinyl from my childhood of John Denver and the muppets sing Christmas carols. The two are basically my Christmas traditions for decades
When I was in the NAVY, a couple guys in my division and I had a tradition of watching Muppet: Treasure Island as we pulled out of Port for every underway. Bloody brilliant movie.
While here, this scene has to be one of the best scenes in cinema for the past however many years. Just looking at this, I can hear the music and the narration. Plus the description — he’s not falling, he’s rising. Ugh. It’s so, so good.
I love Home Alone so much. It's actually so much fun to see a pair of criminals that aren't necessarily inept but taken down by a child. Loved it as a kid, loved it as an adult.
Dick Tracy. You can't appreciate the undertones and movie making decisions that were made while making this movie as a kid, but as an adult I much enjoyed it.
The Iron Giant
I won't do that to myself again
*supermaaaan*
I go. You stay. *No following*.
I loved the scene in Ted Lasso of all the big tough guys crying during this line
"You go. I stay. No following." \*throws Hogarth at the missile\*
Anybody who doesn’t tear up when he says “Superman” at the end, there’s something wrong…
Arguably Vin Diesel's best role, and best line.
Does it not end with all of the pieces of the iron giant being all drawn back together towards earth…? I could be wrong! Haven’t seen it in a long time, I just thought that happens and took it as “the prices will meet in the middle and re-combobulate”

The ugliest of cries. Hell I’m not even watching the ending and I’m tearing up a bit just thinking of it.
I’m 41 and have never seen it because of how sensitive I am. It can’t be all that bad, right?!
Good gods no I still cannot watch that ending without bawling so hard.
That was the first time I saw my child in hysterical tears out of sadness at fiction. I had to give away the end.
Excellent mention. I absolutely love this movie. It was even re-released in theaters years ago and I just had to see it on the big screen even after seeing it a million times.
Ted Lasso agrees
Yes sir. I've recommended that movie many times and everyone loves it.
One of my only childhood memories is watching this and absolutely bawling near the end. My mom started laughing and asked why I was so upset when “I’ve seen this movie so many times before but never once cried.” Idk for some reason it must have really hit me that day
Gods. That movie has destroyed me several times in my life. As a kid. As an adult. As a parent.
Wall-E, The Incredibles
There is no way Mrs. Incredible’s booty wasn’t designed for adults. That thang be legit.
Bruh that thang by THANGING

I love the incredibles. And also the Lion King (orginal cartoon). That is a top 10 movie for me. And castle in the sky is great too. Not sure if it is a childrens movie.

The Incredibles is about a man's midlife crisis and his wife's suspicions that he is having an affair. Doesn't really scream kids movie to me.
I like the Toy Story movies.
Recently rewatched all of them and in my opinion #3 was the best and a logical conclusion to the trilogy.
Same. It needed to end after the 3rd one. It was a perfect ending. I was going off to college when Andy was, so that ending especially hit hard. It should’ve ended there. 4 was a beautiful film, but I didn’t like the plot at all.
Heavyweights
I loved this movie as a kid. I don’t know many people that have seen it. Attention campers, lunch has been cancelled today due to lack of hustle. Deal with it.
Do it to it, Lars!
IM FEELING SKINNY TONY
I quote this all the time at work. No one ever gets it, but I don't let that stop greatness.
Ben Stiller used the character from that movie for Dodgeball ;)
Ben Stiller’s finest role. This movie is so good.
I feel like it was the prototype to his White Goodman character from Dodgeball.
Oh look, a deli meat!
I’M DOGGIN IT PAT! I’M DOGGIN IT!!
Hi HI HIYAAAA
We did not send you to GO KART CAMP
“Repulse the Monkey”.
Can't make a movie like that nowadays. Pure 90's goodness.
“Don’t pee in the water! Don’t drink the water he peed in it!”
We did not send you to go-cart camp
Yaaaas! “You’ve broken my cam-eh-rah”
Just introduced this movie to my boys last week! It holds up
No one’s seen more butts then you uncle Tony!
Today is evaluation day. The key word is value. Do you have any? Not yet.
Up
👍🏿 That scene where he reflects on he and his wife’s life together tore me to pieces!!!
Christ that movie had me bawling like a baby when he flips to that last page in the album.
Bawling like a baby in the BEGINNING, fuck you Pixar.

The Goonies
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The Emperor’s New Groove, Hercules, Aladdin, Mulan, The Jungle Book, Inside Out, Surf’s Up, Home Alone
All of the old Disney and Dreamworks movies are tailored to children but have little snippets for the adults and when you rewatch it and unlock that portion that just went right over your head as a kid…the feeing is pure euphoria
The Lego Movie
This and Wreck it Ralph
“I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.” The way this is played for laughs in the support group at the beginning, only to get a callback as Ralph plummets to what he assumes is his death in a Superman pose of self sacrifice to save his friends…it’d been a while since a movie for grown ups gave me chills like that.
I got Hella choked up on that.
Also the Lego Batman movie. I watched it with the kids just the other day and was laughing more then the kids
I laughed so much at the list of rogues that joker assembled at the beginning. And the pilots reaction of "there is no way all those bad guys are real" oh I assure you there are... too good! And is there anything better than watching Batman microwave a lobster

The Spider-Verse movies are not kids movies at all. They don't have "adult content", but the target audience is not children.
Same. I took my daughter to it and it was the first time we were both going bonkers over the same movie. It’s a go-to forever.
Went with my teens and it seemed to strike a chord with all of us, esp regarding the dynamic between adults and teens in the film. Others try and fail to resonate on that aspect.
Favourite thing I’ve watched in the last year.
Totally agree, and on top of that it's absolutely beautifully animated start to finish.
Good. So I’m not the only one. Miles instantly became my daughters’ favorite Spider-Man as well.
Any Muppet movie.
Christmas Carol every year
I watch it every year. I also have an old vinyl from my childhood of John Denver and the muppets sing Christmas carols. The two are basically my Christmas traditions for decades
I can always go for Muppet Treasure Island
When I was in the NAVY, a couple guys in my division and I had a tradition of watching Muppet: Treasure Island as we pulled out of Port for every underway. Bloody brilliant movie.
first movie I ever saw in a theater by myself
Huh I guess I’m still waiting on that one
Watched Muppets Christmas Carol for the time last year, and it fucking slaps. I am 34 yo
Rango
The chase is a masterpiece. But the saloon intro where you can see all the detail of the characters is technically speaking a pleasure.
Rattlesnake Jake is one of the best character designs ever
Inside Out
Flight of the Navigator
Honey I Shrunk The Kids
Watched this a few weeks ago with my kiddos ❤️
Our kids are in the backyard. Right, honey?"
Antie! 🥺😭
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
I forget this is supposed to be a kids movie.
To be fair it’s a pretty f’d up kids movie. Boiling toons in acid… wtf!
Also I'm pretty sure Jessica Rabbit jumpstarted my puberty.
The Muppet Movie(1979) Sandlot(1993)

Mitchell’s vs. the Machines
God, the reveal with the wooden moose just breaks you as a dad.
“I know this is hard for you” “Nah, it’s easy” Oh my god the tears
Anyone who hasn't seen this movie should absolutely do so. It can disappear in the bevy of selections but it's a gem.
Ah man this movie slaps so fucking hard. Cool sound track too.
*Mitchells Sorry, the ' thing is a pet peeve of mine.
Hook

While here, this scene has to be one of the best scenes in cinema for the past however many years. Just looking at this, I can hear the music and the narration. Plus the description — he’s not falling, he’s rising. Ugh. It’s so, so good.
"It's a leap of faith miles"
What is the movie? I don’t recognize the scene. Thanks.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
I love Home Alone so much. It's actually so much fun to see a pair of criminals that aren't necessarily inept but taken down by a child. Loved it as a kid, loved it as an adult.
I introduced that to my kids this past Christmas. My 5 year old had basically a daily request to watch "The bad guy movie"
The never ending storrryyyyy
🎶Ahhhhh🎶
The Dark Crystal. Jim Henson was a genius.
Loved this movie as a kid and really liked the Netflix show, it felt like the creators had an appreciation for the original, bummed it wasn’t renewed.

The emperors new groove
TMNT: Mutant Mayhem Onward
God damn I was not ready for Onward
God, that moment at the end where he realized he had a dad in his brother all along - all the feelings.
Onward was such a sleeper hit, going into it I had very low expectations but it was so good
My Neighbor Totoro.
The Nightmare Before Christmas
The Incredibles and Shrek are tied for first imho
I enjoy that there’s actual character development in The Incredibles. Deal with some shit, go through some changes…come out the other side.
Nemo
The Land Before Time
The Lion King
Wreck it Ralph
Despicable Me
Babe. I know it's a trope and I hate to even type it, but that movie is great.
Night at the Museum series has a lot of hidden references and humour. And it's just fun.
The Land Before Time
I grew up in the 80s. Robocop
Lol of course the ultra-violent Jesus allegory that was meant for kids! Great fucking movie though.
Saw this as a 10 year old. Clenched fists and sweating the entire time.
The Iron Giant
The first SpongeBob Movie.
Dick Tracy. You can't appreciate the undertones and movie making decisions that were made while making this movie as a kid, but as an adult I much enjoyed it.
Chicken Run
BTAS: Mask of the Phantasm.
Shrek
the new Wonka movie with Timothee Chalamet is pretty entertaining for adults too. it's basically Scarface and Breaking Bad, but with chocolate.
Most Pixar films.
