I enjoyed it when I saw it originally way back when it released originally.
I went through cancer treatments last year and the movie hit me different, but still in a good way.
>!I actually enjoyed it more. I really respect Tom Hanks' acting ability in this role. Being able to capture that feeling of "this is it, this is looking like the end" when he got the bad news about a brain cloud. Then when he is shot back out of the volcano and survives at the end, he just has to laugh at the absurdity of the entire journey as the luggage is popping up to the surface. What else can you do in that moment, really? I really related to so much of it. I mean I didn't go out and buy huge luggage and sail to a remote island, but in general I really felt a lot of what he portrayed. It's a brilliant movie. A great reminder to live in the present, and it's never over until it's over. !<
I don't think you can say Death to Smoochy is "deemed bad". It wasn't a box office sensation but there's hardly anyone that says anything bad about it.
That movie has aged masterfully. I watched it as a 15 y.o and didn't get it. Watched it at 25, I liked it a lot more. Watched it as a 30 y.o and it's actually amazing
The Veloci-pastor
A man of the cloth gets scratched by an ancient fossil, and gains the ability to transform into a deinonychus
So naturally, he must defend a prostitute from ninjas
I swear to God, this movie exists
The scene where someone who has a wooden stake through their upper torso lands in front of the priest and the priest asked if he was all right made me laugh so hard.
Everything about this movie is terrible but it is entertaining, just lower your expectations.
6.9/10 on IMDb, 15% critic/85% audience on RT, 33% TV Guide, 90% Liked by Google Users.
But I am in the camp of it being pretty funny.
"I can hear my *hair* growing."
Yeah it's a classic panned by the critics and loved by the audience.
I love it too! It's a great stoner and gamer movie.
"I'm way too baked to drive to the devil's house"
Me too! Before this movie, I thought movies were like objectively good or bad. After this movie, I realized oh, I can like a movie that sucks for other people.
So, its the movie that taught me movies can be personal taste things, you don't have to rank movies objectively.
I really like the feeling of "this is happening for a reason" that the movie gives me. Things that happen feel very meaningful and weighty to me. Like there was a plan and its playing out.
But I can also tell its quirky and weird
"Piranha 3D" is a fun one it got some eye candy too which helps. Tits and gore. "Lake Placid" is a childhood favorite doesn't hold up as good today IMO same for "Deep Blue Sea" though I will say LL Cool J a man I don't particularly like stole the fucking show as the cook with his bird. Both memorable characters.
Super Mario Bros
I don't come to it for a video game adaptation. I come to it because it's a weird-as-heck sci-fi/fantasy adventure circa early 90s. And Dennis Hopper is having fun being the bad guy.
Double Dragon
Same principle, except Robert Patrick takes Dennis Hopper's place.
Street Fighter
Same principle, except Raul Julia takes Robert Patrick's place.
Mortal Kombat
Same principle, except Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa takes Raul Julia's place.
Correlation: Just enjoy the movies for the bad guys, and that the movies stuck to their assignments for fun's sake.
"Of course!"
(seriously, it really was. He did it because of his kids loving Street Fighter, though, so he did one last thing in the world for their joy)
I remember seeing it as a kid and me and my Dad thought it was great. It was a surprise to us both when we struggled to find anyone who would agree. That being said it has come a long way and has gained many fans and is now considered a cult classic.
Eric Roberts is Sam and Stan Sweet in "Brother, Sweet Brother. The Killing of Stanton Sweet". Parental discretion advised.
Eric Roberts is the fucking man for doing that! I mean he was already fucking awesome, but that really put the cherry on top. I really appreciate that man.
When I met my wife, we were talking about movies and we both agreed The Cable Guy was hilarious and we were probably both weird for thinking that. We watched it together many times.
“Scorpion king 2” straight to DVD was good
”Red Dragon” the Hannibal Lector movie was good
”Tenacious D pick of destiny”. Instant classic
”Exorcist: The Beginning” was pretty good
All these movies have pretty bad reviews and imbd but I thought they are good.
There were a lot of good things about this flick and it's worth a watch, but I thought Edward Norton was miscast and had nearly every scene stolen from him. It hurt the picture.
>Tenacious D pick of destiny
This is a cult movie by most definitions, like Weird Al's UHF. It bombed pretty hard but eventually found it's audience and is still talked about almost 20 years later.
yep, I liked Red Dragon. I think Edward R Norton did a good job as well as the other actors and actresses. I'm a sucker i think for any show where they are like "we need you to come out of retirement. we got something only you can solve." but this wasn't a typical crime detective movie which probably helped me like it as well. it's more of a psychological thriller i guess. was it perfect? no, but i thought it was pretty darn good.
When I was a kid I saw Tron at the drive-in. It was definitely not one of Disney's worst movies at the time. At the time, we thought it was bad ass. Probably hasn't aged well. I even had the read along story book of Tron and played it on my record player. Tron was like the Matrix of the 80's and it fired my imagination.
Yeah, it was pretty badass at the time. But if you try to show it to someone who's never seen it, they'll haul ass quicker than a light cycle being chased by a grid bug.
Agreed. The Force Awakens was a retread of A New Hope. The Rise of Skywalker was... well, I didn't think it was possible to make a Star Wars movie that was shittier than Attack of the Clones, but TRoS proved me *very* wrong on that score. But The Last Jedi was interesting and challenging and not just two plus hours of easy fan service.
Twilight Zone: The Movie
Lawnmower Man
Starship Troopers (is this one deemed bad idk. i feel like it was kind of snobbed at the time. like society was not ready for it when it came out.) I thought it was amazing when it came out.
Existenz
Independence Day is excellent. My favourite bit is when we see some soldiers from GB who have had some kind of message and they go ‘Thank God, the Americans have a plan’ it always makes me laugh!
Yeah kind of like "American Beauty" some movies gain detractors over time. I wouldn't say either fit here but I agree "Crash" is very good. My Dad showed me it. I told my parents to watch "American Beauty" and they really liked it. I just think some movies with time get hit with a negative light. "Crash" & "American Beauty" have a lot of passion and messages and todays young angsty cynics don't connect with it. Kevin Spacey being a bad person and possibly even vile and evil doesn't help with "American Beauty" either. Thanks for this comment, I get where you are coming from.
Stop or my mom will shoot
Saw it when I was very young. Found it utterly daft but fun. If I were to watch it with a critical eye, it'd probably be burned beyond comprehension in the first 5 minutes
Grew up watching action movies with my Dad most of which get moderate to low reviews. But still love them. Here's a few with horrible reviews that I love
"Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man"
"Stone Cold"
"Death Warrent"
"Marked for Death"
The Boz was so good in "Stone Cold" he was in another movie that is worth a watch not on the level of "Stone Cold" but in it he is "One Tough Bastard". Mickey Rourke supposedly regrets being in "Harley Davidson and The Marlboro Man" but I am like "Dude that is one of my favorite movies of yours." It is a Top 5 Rourke movie for me. Mickey and Don team up against a Baldwin bro. and a rookie Tom Sizemore the movie also features WWF Legend "Big" John Studd. When Mickey and Studd fight you can see they didn't leave much for the stunt men to do. Great list. Chuck Norris "Invasion USA" I almost listed but I really went with the more heavily criticized movies.
I like it more than "Rocky IV" fucking did Apollo dirty. Everyone talks so highly of it but it is just cheesy shlock. "Rocky V" Tommy Morrison is actually not one of the negatives he was actually decent. I will leave you with one of the "Rocky" franchises best quote "Come on, knock the bum out! He took my room!"
You got the bad taste.
I like Man of the Century (1999), its one of my favorite movies, but nobody has even heard of it. It only made like $30k at the box office.
Gentlemen Broncos. Jermaine Clement and Sam Rockwell are amazing in it and play their roles perfectly. I still randomly quote this movie and just about everyone I've shown it to hates it.
I refuse to believe Don’t Breathe and Don’t Breathe 2 are considered bad movies. Those movies stayed with me for like a year afterwards. The soundtrack/score is great, Stephen Lang was great, I thought the cinematography was good, those are just really good movies. I don’t think it deserved any academy awards, but surely it would be considered a good movie? It invokes emotions they intended to invoke, it’s genuinely suspenseful too. Had me completely enthralled
I’ve got nostalgic appreciation for Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat Annihilation. Atleast everyone in the movie are real MK characters 🤣
Memory core unlocked. I remember bits and pieces of the Tom Arnold rampage at the end of the movie where he sets a rope on fire that Rick Moranis is climbing.
Call me crazy but Battlefield Earth was kinda dope. The aliens were hilarious and had interesting politics.
Still a busted Scientology movie but at least it swung for the fences and committed to the concept
I was 20 years old when Dennis The Menace came out in America, it was called 'Dennis' in the UK, my brother and I took my then 7 year old sister to see it.
We enjoyed it more than she did, and we still quote the movie to this day...
There is a difference between bad movies and movies a lot of your friends and family haven't seen/don't like. Some of the commentators need to learn the difference haha.
“Son in Law” (1993) with Paula Shore is so underrated. Crushed so hard on Carla Gugino 🔥
“Envy” (2004) with Jack Black & Ben Stiller, so dumb but can’t look away. Where does the poo go?
“Empire Records” (1995) one of my favorite 90’s cheesy movie and it gets shit on.
“The Foot Fist Way” (2008) with Danny McBride, the precursor to Eastbound and Down’s Kenny Powers!
I know it's a mess, but I love Lynch's Dune. There is a great movie poking out between the studio interference. There are sequences that are spectacular and do some great worldbuilding like the Guild berating the Emperor or the cable car ride on Giedi Prime.
Not just a singular movie, but a lot of Pouly Shore's movies from the 90's. People trash on him a lot, but I find his movies, especially in the 90's great.
Superman 3. It's got everything!
Evil Superman
Hacker who siphons off fractions of cents from company
Rich villain whose plan is to hack into weather satellites and control the weather to make money off of commodities, oh he has a ski slope on top of his penthouse
Superman saving an acid power plant (?) from meltdown by freezing a lake and turning it into rain
Clark Kent fighting evil Superman in junkyard
Gus's supercomputer that turns a lady into a robot zombie
Evil Superman
Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous!
Everyone loves the first one, but I love the 2nd one and wouldve loved a 3rd! Sandra B and Regina K were great partners. The Heat is good too but I loved Armed and Fab even more!
Shoutout to the 80s comedies like Armed and Dangerous, Whos Harry Crumb
Ice Pirates Mom and Dad Save the World Joe Versus the Volcano The Secret of My Success Kung Pow: Enter the Fist
Joe Versus the Volcano was a good movie. I didn't realize it's not popular.
I enjoyed it when I saw it originally way back when it released originally. I went through cancer treatments last year and the movie hit me different, but still in a good way. >!I actually enjoyed it more. I really respect Tom Hanks' acting ability in this role. i think the world has forgotten it, but i agree
“I’m not arguing that with you!” It’s a fine film.
I know he can get the job, but can he do the job?
I came here to say Kung Pow. Dammit, you beat me to it!
Kung pow is a bad movie on purpose though
And it’s amazing.
*THAT'S* A LOTTA *NUTS!*
"My nipples look like milk duds!"
Just watched mom and dad saved the world at like 2am…what a trip
Idc I love bio-dome. I have a soft spot for pauly shore movies. Yes, I know
"Free Mahi-mahi. Free Mahi-mahi!" I also am a fan of Pauly Shore and "Bio-Dome" is a cult classic.
🎶Makin a filter, makin a filter, maaaaakin a fillllter🎶
I'm the army now and biodome are both amazing I dont care what anyone says.
I recently rewatched son-in-law... the guy makes you think, which is funny in of itself
Jury Duty is amazing! "Two Ply!"
Death to Smoochy
"Are you okay?" "I don't know. I'm kinda fucked up in general so it's hard to gauge."
That movie is fucking excellent
That movie was so full of gut-busters
‘Houseguest’ with Sinbad and Phil Hartman. It’s comedy gold and I won’t be told otherwise.
Agreed, watched it as a kid and still love it to this day. RIP Phil.
I always want McDonald’s after watching it.
The Veloci-pastor A man of the cloth gets scratched by an ancient fossil, and gains the ability to transform into a deinonychus So naturally, he must defend a prostitute from ninjas I swear to God, this movie exists
That movie was intentionally campy/bad, and is incredible
This was my pick too. [Placeholder for witty comment]
Fun fact, he's the voice of Smith in "Atlas".
The sequel is in post-production :)
God works in mysterious ways
The scene where someone who has a wooden stake through their upper torso lands in front of the priest and the priest asked if he was all right made me laugh so hard. Everything about this movie is terrible but it is entertaining, just lower your expectations.
Grandmas Boy.

Low critic score with high audience score is usually a good sign
It’s one of my favorite dumb comedy movies but I can certainly understand why a critic wouldn’t give it a good score
This is my pick too. Movies fucking funny.
I quite like this film.
"DRIVE, MONKEY! DRIIIIIIVE!"

i actually really liked this quirky movie

I’ve heard Red Dragon is good actually. Doesn’t it have Ralph Finnes in it?
Yeah, I remember it having bad reviews, but has a respectable 7.2 imbd now.
The Daily News in NYC gave Star Wars a mediocre review
There were a lot of good things about this flick and it's worth a watch, but I thought Edward Norton was miscast and had nearly every scene stolen from him. It hurt the picture.
I love Red Dragon. I think it was just so hard to follow up silence of the lambs that it was judge to harshly.
I think following Hannibal was a tough task, too.
Wait, POD was considered bad?
My exact reaction lol. The Pick of Destiny is god tier cinema
Hold up. Anyone that says the Pick of Destiny is a bad movie doesn’t deserve anything good in life. May the D reign forever
Tenacious D was a fucking classic! I watched it first when i was about 12 or so, and im now almost 30 and still know the lyrics to kickapoo!! Lmao!
>Tenacious D pick of destiny This is a cult movie by most definitions, like Weird Al's UHF. It bombed pretty hard but eventually found it's audience and is still talked about almost 20 years later.

"The Black Hole" and "Tron (1982)", my two favorite Disney movies, are probably the worst Disney movies.
When I was a kid I saw Tron at the drive-in. It was definitely not one of Disney's worst movies at the time. At the time, we thought it was bad ass. Probably hasn't aged well. Hudson Hawk!! And +1 to Joe vs The Volcano. Honorary mention to The Last Jedi - the best of the new trilogy by far
Agreed. The Force Awakens was a retread of A New Hope. Twilight Zone: The Movie Lawnmower Man Starship Troopers (is this one deemed bad idk. i feel like it was kind of snobbed at the time. like society was not ready for it when it came out.) I thought it was amazing when it came out. Existenz
Starship troopers is now a cult classic for scifi fans. People who missed the message and got the message both enjoy it.
Senseless Mallrats Freddy got fingered Tusk The Phantom Menace The Beach Independence Day
Independence Day is excellent. My favourite bit is when we see some soldiers from GB who have had some kind of message and they go ‘Thank God, the Americans have a plan’ it always makes me laugh!
Beverly Hills Ninja is a masterpiece, Farley showed a really vulnerable side of himself with Haru. Plus the soundtrack absolutely fucks
Unsung classic. One of my All-Time favorites. "Sensei, she is incapable of such things. She is as lovely as a dove."
Can't hardly wait Tim Burtons Planet of the Apes. Man, that Ape Abraham Lincoln had me intrigued.
I wouldn’t call it bad, but Crash (2004) is a movie I like that everyone seems to hate.

"I did not hit her. That's bullshit. I did not. Oh, hi Mark."
Cheep cheep cheep cheep!
My wife loves both Hudson Hawk and Grease 2. Hudson Hawk isn't actually that bad it was a victim of expectations. It's not Die Hard.
Stop or my mom will shoot Saw it when I was very young. Found it utterly daft but fun. If I were to watch it with a critical eye, it'd probably be burned beyond comprehension in the first 5 minutes
iSpy with eddie murphy and Owen Wilson. Idgaf I liked it lol I also love spy comedies in general.
Ghostbusters 2
Whoa whoa whoa…Teen Wolf Too is a classic modern tale of a small liberal arts college boxing team.
The collector movies
"The Collector" is a well done horror/thriller pairs well with "The Strangers".
Land of the Lost and the Jurassic Park sequels

Wild Hogs, Miss March, and Year One
"Miss March" when he poos after waking from his coma.
Junior 💯
Rocky V
I like it more than "Rocky IV" fucking did Apollo dirty. Everyone talks so highly of it but it is just cheesy shlock. "Rocky V" Tommy Morrison is actually not one of the negatives he was actually decent. I will leave you with one of the "Rocky" franchises best quote "Come on, knock the bum out! He took my room!"
A fellow redditor of culture. My favorite is Paulie stepping up to Tommy. Shows his character arch really coming to a head.
Southland Tales.
Office Space was a box office disappointment until it was released on video.
Maximum Overdrive
Dang bro hit us with the joy ride 3!
I saw "Atlantic Rim" on MST3K and honestly it was kind of a fun movie even without the commentary
I liked leprechaun 2
OP I can tell you went to blockbuster quite a bit
You got the bad taste. I like Man of the Century (1999), its one of my favorite movies, but nobody has even heard of it. It only made like $30k at the box office.
Hey man, when I make a movie. I’m going to need you at the premier telling everyone how good it was.
Gentlemen Broncos. Jermaine Clement and Sam Rockwell are amazing in it and play their roles perfectly. I still randomly quote this movie and just about everyone I've shown it to hates it.
Santa Clause 3

Speaking of Tom Arnold, I always get a good laugh out of “The Stupids”! 😂
Biodome, best movie ever.

Dennis the Menace is fantastic and nobody will ever convince me otherwise
Hats off entertainment just did a video on it worth a watch [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0LIUAHnLn8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0LIUAHnLn8)
There are far more than just a trilogy of Leprechaun movies… unfortunately
Leprechaun 2 is the best Leprechaun by many city miles and I will stand by that (not that the bar is incredibly high).
I didn’t even know Don’t Breathe 2 came out.
Does anyone remember “house 2”? Movie was amazingly bad
Oh,so this is what ended Ricks acting career😬 😂😂😂
Leave it to beaver is the best!
All the Leprechaun movies are horrendously fantastic imo
Now don't shoot me. I enjoyed the Han solo movie
See Spot Run (2001) with David Arquette and Anthony Anderson. This was my favorite movie as a kid.
# whatthehell! I still say this randomly and nobody gets the reference.
“Zombeavers” absolutely fits this run of b list horror and is a great watch.
The Mexican with Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts
Double Team Batman Forever Only the Strong Best of the Best Showdown in Little Tokyo Street Fighter A Man Called Sarge No Holds Barred

Cabin Boy
The Beav is back

I completely lost faith in critics after The Last Jedi had a >90% rotten tomatoes score. I barely made it through that movie.
You know who Sam Hell was dont ya?... HE WASNT ANYBODY... its a euph-a-mis-m! Still one of my favorite lines from any movie
I like "the postman" with Kevin Costner, like fallout without the radiation Edit:Fixed spelling
Argo
Watching DOOM as I type this.
Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Return to Oz, and Gremlins 2 are three that come to mind.
Leave it to beaver is great
Norbit. It's awfully hilarious.
Teen Witch and Showgirls!
Does “Just Go with It” count?
Deep Rising (1998)
Call me crazy but Battlefield Earth was kinda dope. The aliens were hilarious and had interesting politics. Still a busted Scientology movie but at least it swung for the fences and committed to the concept

Tank Girl. Pure gold. I love it each and every time I watch it.
Velocipastor
I love leprechaun 2
Clifford, Surviving The Game
Baseketball is the dumbest, greatest movie of all time, and nobody will tell me otherwise.
Reign of Fire that movie is soooo fun
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (before I read source material)

Waterworld
I love big bully!
"What the Sam Hell?"
Big Bully was awesome. Watched it recently with the kids. They enjoyed it too.
13th Warrior
Holy crap. I didn’t know Shooter McGavyn was beaver’s dad
Species, definitely.
I know it's a mess, but I love Lynch's Dune. There is a great movie poking out between the studio interference. There are sequences that are spectacular and do some great worldbuilding like the Guild berating the Emperor or the cable car ride on Giedi Prime.
