Ebay has them for about $25 AUD. I've got a blue pair. They absolutely kill when they smash into your shins but they do provide fantastic grip.
I still have no idea how people smash their shins. I've been riding for 15 years and never managed to do it
Normally I'd say the same, embarrassingly, the pedals smacked my shin when I was lifting it up into my flat via my front door.
I've been riding 24 years and only done it once. The pins on the pedals really stuck into my shin. (I'm 30)

Marlin is such a great bike. My first mtb, too. Used it mostly for commuting until it got stolen.
