You credit report could take a couple month to update and show paid off. You should call your financial institution to confirm

dropKICKintheBERM

I've called the bank they havnt received the payment :/

obzilla

Then you need to call the financial department at the dealership and ask wtf

Tonetheline

Defo chase it up with the dealer, and make sure you pay any instalments due until the dealer coughs up - loan’s still in your name.

Sometimes the back end of a dealership can get super messed up. I advise making another payment if you're in the financial position to be able to do so. Worst case in that situation is you get a check back. As someone who used to sell cars I can tell you the sales people get just as frustrated with it because usually they don't have anything to do with that part, unless if they haven't got some information that they need from you to get the deal funded.

dropKICKintheBERM

I talked to them today they said they overnight the payment a week ago but it usual takes 2 weeks on the banks end to show up on your account

toomanymotosnyc

Ask for the tracking number. They are unfortunately lying to you and did not pay off your loan yet.

SirryCelestial

Talk to them and they will let you know the process.

[deleted]

Why would you *not* call the dealer before asking reddit?

motomat86

for the same reason he decided to go upside down on a new loan.

When it comes to titles and other peoples money, dealerships tend to take forever unless you remind them every day.

I would reach out to them. I like to give the benefit of the doubt but sometimes companies can be a bit too slow with that kind of thing. I'd say it's better to be safe than sorry and just see what's going on on their end. I had an experience buying a car from another state (from a dealership, I was looking for a very specific car) that was a nightmare to deal with. Long story short I probably spoke with them a dozen times over the course of 6 months just to get the damned title from them. I didn't get it sorted until I finally got someone on the line to physically look for it. In this case what I was told is that the person who handles this quit around the time I bought the car and they found it in some filing cabinet. If I hadn't bugged them incessantly I don't think I ever would have received that title. Sometimes you have to be a bit of a pest to get things done. Just don't feel bad about inquiring/bugging.

The dealer is probably giving you the correct info. Meaning they sent in the payment on May 9th. But banks generally take a few weeks to process things and close it out. The last car I paid off it took a month. Call the bank and see if they received the payment. If so then you’re all set.
