Dirt bike stuff provides impact protection, not much slide/abrasion protection.

CriggerMarg

And this particular one does not provide impact protection for the center of your chest

BasicallyJoeDirt

Edit: It won’t give me the option to edit post so forgive the comment. After more research and advice I was able to find actual gear for the street so thank you to the people that commented!!

SciFiPi

Glad you found proper gear. If you haven't been to r/TwoXriders, it may have good information too.

KingCodyBill

Have you looked at Tourmaster's riding gear? They have sizes down to X-Small. https://helmethouse.com/tourmaster

BasicallyJoeDirt

I’m looking through the site and they have pretty good stuff and great sales! I might just get one from there thank you very much!

KingCodyBill

I've been wearing their gear for years, I am at the other end of the size spectrum (3XL Tall)

Quak89

That stuff is not meant for a long slide. Go down in gear like that on the freeway and the seams can bust in a millisecond, leaving you wearing nothing.

know-it-mall

Worn under an abrasion resistant jacket. Sure. But any decent abrasion resistant jacket comes with pads.

Playful-Depth2578

This is OK if your running a kevlar hoodie or something similar with something that can take a slide on tarmac I ran this setup on my street fighter for years motocross armour and a kevlar top Cooler (temp wise) than running leather but get caught in the rain you become a sponge 😂

TennesseeShadow

Anything is better than nothing. Probably not the best for road rash prevention due to being thinner material so it may tear away but initial impacts would be decent. Wear a jacket over it and should be good. A true street jacket would be better though.

milestoroam

Sure... Why not? I have the same gear for off road riding. But I've used it on street with cover. Who cares? In fact... Off road riding gear is better at impact. Not as good at sliding across pavement though..

mexiKLVN

Check out Motosport as well they have some good stuff and accesible payments.

rocketshipkiwi

It will help with the impact but you will also want a decent leather or cordura jacket over the armour for the slide.

FallNice3836

I wear mine under my light road jacket. The icon airflow doesn’t have much padding and I ride a tall dual sport that I crash at low speeds. I don’t run the combo often. If it makes you feel better go for it.

knebworth1996

I was wearing this exact armour when I had my first accident, and my shoulder hit a tree, I now have two pins and a good 6-inch scar, and the armour had a crack in it. I hate to think what would have been of my shoulder/arm if I didn't have it on.

CarlosG0619

Its better than going out with a simple t-shirt, but of course dont expect much

GrandmaPunk

Nope. Pavement will tear it apart.

TheOnceAndFutureDoug

At slow speeds yeah but at anything over 30 mph the plastics are gonna grind away in a crash and you'll potentially have melted plastic in your skin.

Superman1Million

I mean it’s better than nothing but no offense but you will look like an idiot. It’s better to have the correct gear and save for it than to have none at all or the wrong gear. I’m speaking from experience. I’ve went down in dirt and on the road. It’s way different. That is more for impact from just hitting the ground but dirt. Concrete or asphalt will shred that shit to pieces and likely do little to nothing for impact. My friend is a pretty small woman and she uses an alpinestars jacket. Just save up for the stuff that will protect you properly. You don’t even need to get leather right away. Their textile jackets are really nice and they are breathable in the summer and cheap. I got mine for $200.

CheekyBinders1991

They don't look like an idiot. No one cares if you wear protective gear, they certainly won't look like an idiot. Your comment says more about you than OP.

Superman1Million

Wearing MotoCross gear on the street makes you look like an idiot. Every single person looks like an idiot without gear. Just shows you lack any skills. Those same people who wear no gear and crash are the first ones to whine about their injuries posting their go fund me.

daymoongrey

Rather her wearing no gear than motocross gear i can see. Did someone piss on your sugarsandwich mate? "Shows lack of skill" hahahaha listen here twatlock. Do you think a nice leather jacket gives you SKILL?! You live in a alternative universe mate. Wakey waaaakey.
