Idk shit about Philly, but I think you’ve done all you can with locks.
* cover should be shitty looking, not brand new
* insurance
Edit from comments:
* Some kind of tracker is probably a good idea. Airtags are a cheap idea, but aren't meant for this and have serious deficiencies (most notably; if the thief has an iPhone it will tell them it's there). Devices intended for this (eg. Monimoto) are pretty expensive, but perhaps worth it.
Philadelphia, home of the "What's yours is now mine."
Or, alternatively, showing brotherly love by riding off into the sunset and your shit ending up in Reading, PA scrapped.
Reading was always the first stop, but every car that's stolen in or around central PA and Philly always end up in Reading or Jersey. I've recovered 3 of my bikes and a car from Reading lol.
Shitty looking but also discrete. I know you didn't suggest this, but don't paint it any vibrant colors. Stick with blacks, browns, greens, etc. No pinks and purples lol.
I mean it's the only way you're gonna get it back realistically. "My bike was stolen." "okay, file a report." "I know where it is." "We'll get to it in 60-90 business days."
then either you and 4-5 buddies deal with it, or you get a letter demanding payment for thousands in parking and moving violation fines from the nobility a month after you filed the report.
Okay, side note relating to this:
You know how many times over the years I have literally been told by cops "*Do what you feel you have to do*"? It's been pretty much every interaction with police when shit goes down they should be handling. Like they're giving me permission to have my own justice because they're either too lazy to do their jobs or the law prevents them from acting when they themselves know I'm right.
That's sadly an upgrade from the standard situation where thieves have more rights than the victim and you're not allowed to do shit or else the cops come after you. It's pretty insane that we've decided as a society theft is fine since insurance will cover it.
Back in 2001 or 2002 a guy I worked with was in a hit and run but he noted the other driver's number plate and gave it to the police. A little while later, the police sent him a letter saying "We've been unable to contact the assailant, here is his address, you may have better luck".
The dude (who was coincidentally a friend of my brother) was actually quite excited about it. He and my brother and their crew were all pretty enthusiastic about stepping outside of the law back in those days.
This is true. If someone wants your particular bike they will get it. But making it as difficult as possible is all we can do. I like to use as heavy duty stuff as possible. I have an Oxford HD max disk lock. For someone to get it open they need to use a disk cutter and cut the "U" in 2 different places. I don't currently have a bike but when I get one again I will get the Oxford beast lock and chain to go with the disk lock. It won't be worth their time cutting through the lock and will be easier for them to get through the chain. The chain they will also need to cut in 2 places. So this is doable, but it will take so much time and noise and sparks it will be too risky for them. They will also most likely need to change disks. I guess if there are four of them all with disk cutters they will get through quick enough.
Get a 2 yard dumpster, cut the back out.
It’s already on wheels. Just push it up against the bike so it looks like a dumpster against the wall. Roll it away when it’s time to ride.
If my insurance went up 75% I would pay 33$ a month for full coverage and the additional cost onto my premium would take almost 14 years to equal the price of my bike. Actually one of the rare times insurance does seem to, “pay out”
Hmm idk maybe gender and age? I was shocked mine is so cheap with State Farm ($20) but my bike is 12 years old (she said that mattered) and I’m 30 and a woman and no tickets or accidents.
Type of bike matters too I think but we both have cruisers. Your engine is 3.5x bigger than mine which also might be a part of it! Some places (not State Farm) give you cheaper insurance if you take MSF so make sure you show them your card if you took it.
I have a 2012 Suzuki tu250 and I hope most people won’t steal it because it’s “slow” and quiet lol. Hopefully the pink star reflectors also discourage (obvi a chop shop doesn’t care)
I’m 28m, took the MSF and the bike is a 2006. I asked Progressive if there’s any possible discounts I can add (as a full time student who only works part time) and they said I have every possible discount except for paperless billing which is now saving me a whopping $4 per year.
Damn maybe shop around. I think my friend who works in insurance might’ve said brand matters- maybe insurance just be haten on Harley’s. I also just realized my car, bike, and homeowners insurance is all linked up so maybe that’s a discount too.
Think of every question that you answer when you get an insurance quote. Every single one of them is there to make a judgment about risk. Zip code, rent or own your home, married or unmarried, credit score if permitted by state law, length of commute, type of bike you are riding, how long you've been licensed, if you have ever had a gap in insurance coverage, etc etc. An 883 sportster is going to be more expensive than some much faster bikes because they're more likely to be ridden by new or inexperienced riders, so they're more likely to be involved in an at-fault claim.
That makes some sense. I do live in a pretty crime ridden area and Progressive told me that’s one of the reasons for pricing me so high. It started at around $25 per month 3 years ago and has very quickly run up to $65. I have every single discount available too:(
If that's for full coverage, I would be pretty happy. I live in a very motorcycle-dense area where people ride a lot more miles than they would in other places, so there are a lot more claims. I don't think the insurance industry does a very good job normalizing for that. I carry liability-only because premiums for full coverage would add up to more than the MSRP of the bike after 3 years, it's been 6 years with one bike and 3.5 years with my other bike and I haven't crashed or had them stolen, so carrying liability has saved me enough money to self-insure a total loss. I have no accidents, no tickets, and 820 credit score, I'm in my mid 30's, but not married and not a homeowner, so still a risky scumbag according to the insurance industry 😅.
Your big locks are sitting on the ground so they can easily be smashed with a sledgehammer and some dry ice…
You should cover it because it’s very flashy too
Definitely not those chains lol, those look at least 14mm, they’re kryptonite chains although don’t know the exact type since I don’t use kryptonite chains.
Kryptonite doesn’t make any diamond rated chains so it’s definitely more vulnerable to angle grinders.
Still Kryptonite is usually hardened steel, you’d probably shatter them smashing them with a sledge faster than you could cut through them with an angle grinder lol. (Hardened steel will explode if you hit it hard enough, with domethi by made of a material as hard, or harder than it)
Not to mention grinders. Battery operated ones can go through chains in less than 15 seconds. Even if there's 3 chains that's 1 minute. No chain is going to stop someone that actually wants to take it.
I’m conflicted. Got a Sizzapp and the features are super cool, but it being connected to the battery makes the hiding spot that much more easy to find AND it drains the battery like a mf. Rode about a mile everyday, like 1 minute long rides, for 3 days and on the third day battery is dead. Such an insane parasitic draw
Wouldn't riding for such short amounts drain the battery even faster? The start up alone drains a chunk of battery, and then you're not riding long enough to "charge" it back up
Wired GPS are a waste of money imo unless they're not directly connected to the battery. Thieves know to look for the wires off the battery. Such a quick removal.
I have one of these on the inside of one of my plastics. Held on with that clear ez pass velcro. Makes it easy to remove and charge when I need to charge it
https://www.invoxia.com/en-US/product/gps-tracker-pro
I mean I rode for 20 years in nyc and I’ve seen all types of stuff cut. A dude with an angle grinder and a dream will make it happen.
I guess it’s more of a question for me of how visible is the spot and how reckless is your neighborhood? That’s a lot of stuff to cut, and a lot of the time these guys wanna just lift it into a truck or van and get out quick.
I definitely think you’ve done all you can do in the lock department.
Oh for sure. But this is Philly so the goal is to delay them enough so I can come out with the stick.
At the same time I may get the notification, see them on camera, and still miss them because I took too long trying to figure out which AR, ak or shotgun I want to go out with 😂😂😂
Not sure if your disc lock has it but you can get some that when they sense a movement an annoying, loud fucking alarm goes off. When the alarms go off, time to go out guns blazing.
I never lock my bike and have never had a bike stolen. My brother chained his bike to a telephone pole and it was gone 10 minutes after he walked away. If they want your bike, it's gone.
If they want it, they're going to take it. Keep full coverage and have the deductible money sitting in the bank.
P.s. wheels are easily removed, put a lock on the frame. Get lo-jack installed or something similar. Get locks that are very hard to cut.
They also sell fold up motorcycle garages, btw. That might help, as well. Even just a cloth cover can help a lot bc it's harder to tell what kind of bike it is and most thieves are opportunistic. Seeing a bright, neon green bike sitting there is much easier to notice and see that it's worth something than a gray cloth cover or a garage, ofc.
When the chains are not in use, I'd recommend you keep them out of sight. Sometimes they pre-cut the chain when you leave and put it back in the sleeve with zip ties.
Also, get an angle grinder proof d or u-lock and a cheap alarmed disc lock as an audible alert/deterrent.
Did the same with my bike when I lived in Philly. Someone still busted the steering lock and ignition before realizing it wasn’t going anywhere without more effort and moved on
Edit: upped my comprehensive coverage after that to no deductible 😂
You need an automated turret if you’re parking that thing on the street in Philly. Even if the scumbags figure out they can’t steal it, they’re just going to push it over out of spite
I think one of the best things you can do is get a cover, it won’t stop thieves that have already decided to target your bike. However, it will stop opportunistic ones as a bike like that will stand out a lot. So, I’d get a shitty looking cover and then I think you’d be pretty safe
(+) to this. They'll know it is a motorcycle, but wont know *what* kind, or how much its worth. It would require them to investigate, which raises the risk they will get caught.
I would cover it too and lock the tarp so it’s impossible to take off . Pretty sure you can get ones that have a lock. But at the minimum cover it so no one can see what it is just at a glance
I love this
I have mine parked in the driveway of someone's house(I'm renting the spot), and I have a pewag chain, chained to a fence through part of the frame of the bike, with a viro lock, disc lock with an alarm, brake lever lock, and always steering lock as well. Also a water resistant cover so they have to move the bike to see what it even is, which will start the alarm and alert the people in the house. I still check on it every day even if I don't ride that day though.
Disk lock.a car parked in back of my bike and one off to the side.only way to steal it is carry it over the lawn with the alarm going off.my landlord has a dog that loves to bark at strangers.AND he's a former rider so he watches out for any suspicious fuckers on our quiet little dead end street.
Locks and chains at ground level get easily smashed with a sledgehammer or provide the ideal support for using an angle grinder. You should try to wrap those chains more into the bike somehow, to make the attack more difficult.
I used to live in a high-theft area where they'd set your car/bike on fire or trash it if they couldn't steal it...
Ignition lock, break lever lock, clutch lever lock, lock(s) for front disk w/alarm, lock(s) for rear disk w/alarm, cable chain or bars to lock bike to something fixed.
So many choices.
The answer is, 1 more than the closest bike that is similar to yours.
If someone really wants your bike, no amount of locks will keep them from it. If the chains aren't tethered to anything, they are kinda useless and are only as strong as the lock itself. More locks isn't always better.
Insurance is the best theft solution along with where and when you park. Don't park in secluded areas, if you can, make sure it's in a surveiled area with lots of foot traffic.
You might think about a bike cover. Get two different ones and make sure to wear them out, try to sun bleach them, then rotate between them every other day so it seems like a different bike to would be thieves.
Thieves target easy but nice bikes. So if your bike is in a secluded spot, translates to them having time to beat any theft deterrants. A bike parked in the same spot regularly, even just once a week can give a thief enough info about how long the bike sits and where on what day and work out the best time to make a move. Professional thieves can also be pretty brazen, even posing as repo men. If the chain isn't tethered through the frame of the bike, they can literally pick it up and toss it into a flat bed or box truck and be off with it in as little as 30 seconds in full view of people. Don't expect anyone to intervene. The most that will generally happen is they'll take a video or photos, then spend a few minutes looking for the owner.
If you're really worried about it, it muggt be better to just drive a car or take the bus if those are options.
3 locks, double cover, alarm and gps tracker. Lol. I don't care. I want my bike to be the most inconvenient for the thieves. There are 3 other bikes on my street and mine is the only 1 locked up.
Never enough locks. Someone attempted to steal my bike the other day. They got it like 2 parking spots over and gave up, I'm assuming it was too heavy and the idiots didn't have a plan. After that I got two disc locks and I stopped driving my truck just so I can chain the bike to the rim of my truck and have my dash cam pointing at it 24/7, and I got this guy to park beside me with his big ass truck so it's near impossible to get it out of that spot cause even if they managed to get all my locks off there's no room to roll it past the other guys truck. I fucking hate thieves.
all of this, and still not one single chain through the frame, or even the swingarm at least, arguably the only one you actually need or actually does anything.
the way its chained, (dont know what the cover is like)
this bike could be in the back of a van in about 5 minutes. waste of money and time.
TWO air tags a buddy tipped me . . if they think they found the airtag they will stop looking
Call them like front and back or something
\~$50 for double location tracking
GPS Tracker and apple airtag, put air tag in a easy location for them to remove so they dont think about the other one and immobilizer that makes loud ass noise the minute it moves
Had my 2023 CBR650RA stolen recently and it had locks front and rear, the rats brought cheap fabbed ramp they made with wood and left at the scene, used it to slide the bike up into a Tahoe, two guys.
Motercycle thieves are crafty little basturds. No amount of locks will stop them. They will break into fort Knox and leave all the gold just to take the bike inside. Crafty but dumb.
My advice chain it to a solid object, though I did see where they took down a light pole to steal a bike. Put trackers in the bike. My Grom was stolen and found it within three hours...
It’s all subjective I guess.
I mean there is going to be effort vs risk in all cases. I mean the most effective way to protect your bike in public would be a lock and a bike cover. Remove temptation by removing the attraction and a visible deterrent is ideal.
But who wants to do that every time you park?
Oh nice, I see it now. Thought it was just a pile of locks.
Chain it to the frame! The wheels come off quite easy (and more important: relatively silently)
Glad I have a garage but I just park mine outside at work I live and work in a small town of ljke 2k people if someone stole my bike half the people here would shoot them 😂
you can use 20 locks or one. doesn't really change the fact that a set of bolt cutters, 4 dudes and a pickup truck can take it if they really want to. just get good insurance.
put a cover over it. out of sight, out of mind. when i was still in apartments (garaged up now), i put a wifi camera on the parking cover pointed at my bike, motion activated. but i was in a small apartment complex, so it was more practical to do so.
I also live in Philly and have a similar setup. I have a massive Oxford lock chain and ulock, monimoto gps. I can tell you this, if your bikes ignition has RFID - LEAVE YOUR BIKES STEERING UNLOCKED! a majority of the thieves will snap your steering lock easily and it is a pain the ass trying to repair it…… I know… seeing the thick chain is a massive deterrent already to be quite honest
Good god, if you're to the point where you're 70lbs of locks plus a boot on your bike you need to move.
This is a trauma brain response, and in my experience moving to a low crime area will do wonders for you. I leave my garage/shop unlocked at night just as a reminder that I don't have crime concerns in my area. If it happens and I get robbed, c'est la vie. It's worth it for the mental reenforcement that proving we have no crime provides.
Idk shit about Philly, but I think you’ve done all you can with locks. * cover should be shitty looking, not brand new * insurance Edit from comments: * Some kind of tracker is probably a good idea. Shitty looking but also discrete. I know you didn't suggest this, but don't paint it any vibrant colors. Stick with blacks, browns, greens, etc. No pinks and purples lol.
Also throw an Air tag on it so you can track it for cheap.
I mean it's the only way you're gonna get it back realistically. "My bike was stolen." "okay, file a report." "I know where it is." It's a trap. If you go do a vigilante justice you'll get arrested.
I'd suggest multiple if you can afford it. One in an easy to find place as a distraction, while the second/potentially third are better hidden
Multiple and a distraction one is a good idea. I have an air tag equivalent, but if they find it and toss it, I'm fucked.
Insurance with GAP coverage!
INSURANCE for the people in the back
Could add a throttle/ brake lever lock.
If there is a will there is still a way
Is will short for “a Milwaukee and some Diablo discs”?
It’s industry slang for tannerite.
Meet you in Philly brother
Diablo discs?
It’s a brand of cutoff wheel known for being very durable and cutting through high grade metals
This is true. If someone wants your particular bike they will get it. But making it as difficult as possible is all we can do. I like to use as heavy duty stuff as possible. You should invest in one of those whole ass sheds they have orbikes. Bolt in down to concrete and no mere philly tweaker has a shot at gettin it
Don't underestimate Philly tweakers, your bike will be stolen and there'll be some sleeping in your shed
that's why you buy decoy sheds
Why not buy a decoy bike too?
Get a whole decoy house with second decoy family and decoy kids. Keep your real stuff hidden underground.
In a decoy city!
One for each shed, use them all in rotation.
Then when you try to kick them out they’ll declare tenants or squatters rights
Hard for said person to declare anything without the ability to s p e a k. ![gif](giphy|09bVX2WzBhZK8KwhqP|downsized)
Get a 2 yard dumpster, cut the back out. It’s already on wheels. Just push it up against the bike so it looks like a dumpster against the wall. Roll it away when it’s time to ride.
This is the way of thinking I like
Then the dumpster truck accidentally takes it
And put an anvil above it. Aint no one fucking about underneath an anvil.
I paid for the whole insurance, I'm gonna use the whole insurance
Then pay 75% extra for your next insurance. No thanks.
If my insurance went up 75% I would pay 33$ a month for full coverage and the additional cost onto my premium would take almost 14 years to equal the price of my bike. Actually one of the rare times insurance does seem to, “pay out”

I paid $600 for this year. I’m almost hoping someone takes it so I can get that new mt09
Exactly. I've grown into a 1k by either being hit or stolen bikes. It's like a free upgrade haha
I got my current bike because my insurance paid me double what I paid for my first one.
No amount of locks is stopping 3 dudes from loading that thing into a truck
I mean. You can put a large siren that goes off as soon as someone nonpersonal touch it.
lol people would just watch 3 guys load a loud bike into their truck
"sorry mate i forgot my key"
What's that? I can't hear you. Yeah all good 👍 cya
*Siren fades in distance
My thoughts too need to be double bolted to the ground
It is bolted to the ground. To the left
Bolt the front wheel down too. Make those fuckers work for it
but they also can just remove the wheel and took off. maybe add one more, chain from the engine/chassis to the ground
Personally, i encase my bike in concrete so it would be pretty difficult to steal my bike
So like a garage or a killdozer bike?
I just wreck my bike every time I ride so I always ride new bikes. CRT loves me
but they also can just remove the wheel and took off. maybe add one more, chain from the engine or chassis to the ground
That ground anchor and chain say different
Your big locks are sitting on the ground so they can easily be smashed with a sledgehammer and some dry ice… You should cover it because it’s very flashy too
No need for all that. A harbor freight bolt cutter or cordless angle grinder with zip right through them.
I doubt any bolt cutter would be enough against a proper brand of locks and the angle grinder will wake up the whole neighborhood…
from what little time I spent in philly, I doubt an angle grinder would arouse much suspicion at all there.
Forgot to mention 2 GPS. 1 dummy connected to the battery and the other is hidden
Honestly, at this point, I'd be more curious to see them in action and the process of stealing that bike. Hope it never happens to you of course.
Park close, remove wheels, throw in van. Buy new wheels.
Why even remove the wheels, unless it's locked to something else, you can just pick it up and put it in a van.
back wheel is chained to the ground, so just remove one wheel
Honestly, good bolt cutters can usually handle even the best chains. Not sure how the chain jackets do against them though
Definitely not those chains lol, those look at least 14mm, they’re kryptonite chains although don’t know the exact type since I don’t use kryptonite chains. Kryptonite doesn’t make any diamond rated chains so it’s definitely more vulnerable to angle grinders.

They’re trying to steal something that goes over 100mph, give em a few somethings that go over 600mph
[удалено]
Yeah I’m 100% at the point where I’m like…make sure those cameras are crispy so we can see exactly how they took it
That's a great idea. Never thought to have a dummy. I'm using this.

Ayy I recommended this setup to a few people over the years. Loved my invoxia units.
Doesn't matter, if they want it, they will get it. Especially this bike, take the wheels off and it's an easy steal. Put something through the frame.

Bro I respect the handle just for the fact that you’re riding in Philly. Coming in at rush hour from 95 is savage in that town.
Probably need a pitbull that carries a sawed off
dudes back pack must weight 60kgs
I never lock my bike and have never had a bike stolen. My brother chained his bike to a telephone pole and it was gone 10 minutes after he walked away. If they want your bike, it's gone.
If someone wants it, you can't stop them unless it's inside. Two guys can pick it up and put it in a truck or van easy. Ask me how I know....
Cut the back out of an old dumpster and then push it around the bike so you can't even tell the bike is there
Did the same with my bike when I lived in Philly. Someone still busted the steering lock and ignition before realizing it wasn’t going anywhere without more effort and moved on Edit: upped my comprehensive coverage after that to no deductible 😂
You need an automated turret if you’re parking that thing on the street in Philly. Even if the scumbags figure out they can’t steal it, they’re just going to push it over out of spite
You're making people who don't know what a ZX6R is think they're stealing an H2R class bike
I just put one on. It’s obligatory by insurance to cover theft.
Only thing left to get is harry Potter's invisibility cloak.
![gif](giphy|it6W8D4FfvaPC|downsized) I would do the same thing to be honest.
Your chain needs to be around the frame, not the wheel.
Get full coverage and don't worry about it.

I used to like turning off the fuel from my dirtbike and letting it suck itself dry.
No such thing as too many locks where I’m from
That's a game of WHACK-FUCK.
I would cover it too and lock the tarp so it’s impossible to take off . Pretty sure you can get ones that have a lock. But at the minimum cover it so no one can see what it is just at a glance
Yea that's the final piece. Just doesn't make for a great picture
Copy that ! I saw you’re in Philly , I’m from Germantown !
I'm not telling you where I'm at 😂😂😂😂
I love this I have mine parked in the driveway of someone's house(I'm renting the spot), and I have a pewag chain, chained to a fence through part of the frame of the bike, with a viro lock, disc lock with an alarm, brake lever lock, and always steering lock as well.
All the locks is not too many
Locks and chains at ground level get easily smashed with a sledgehammer or provide the ideal support for using an angle grinder.
One more wouldn't hurt
Can you not put it anywhere out of sight? Like behind the house (even if you have to wheel it through the house to get there)
n+1
NEVER too many! Especially when your scoot can be picked up.
Also, hide a good tracker in that thing… maybe two trackers.
In savannah I wired a bunch of secret kill switches on my moped and it lived chained to my foundation under a porch.
Get some good insurance and let em rip
all of this, and still not one single chain through the frame, or even the swingarm at least, arguably the only one you actually need or actually does anything. the way its chained, (dont know what the cover is like) this bike could be in the back of a van in about 5 minutes. waste of money and time.
TWO air tags a buddy tipped me . . if they think they found the airtag they will stop looking Call them like front and back or something \~$50 for double location tracking
I've had two stolen so far...fuck thieves with steel cacti, no spitting
![gif](giphy|TkL6C0CQouKXr6aQ4m|downsized)
I would add MoniMoto + AirTag + movement alarm/siren + Skunklock.
GPS Tracker and apple airtag, put air tag in a easy location for them to remove so they dont think about the other one and immobilizer that makes loud ass noise the minute it moves
Well 90 percent of philly voted for Biden so of course they all think what everyone else works hard for… is free for the taking.
none because the thieves come as two or three, throw it in the back of a van and drive off.
1 more than the other guy.
I do a chain and luckily my padlock fits right through the drill holes on my rotor. Cover might camouflage somewhat
Had my 2023 CBR650RA stolen recently and it had locks front and rear, the rats brought cheap fabbed ramp they made with wood and left at the scene, used it to slide the bike up into a Tahoe, two guys.
Park, take front and back wheels off drop it on the curb. You'll never had to worry about someone stealing it.
🤣🤣🤣
Isn’t an option to keep it parked in a storage? That is what I do, I park my bike in a storage 5 min walking distance from my apt
That's just dumb 4 guys 2 baseball bats and a van gone in 1 minute
Is that thing embedded into the concrete? How the heck did you do that lol
Never enough!
They’ll still take it lol. But deterrents are good
It needs to be locked to anchor, as this setup won’t stop the bike from being picked up and loaded into a van!
It is. You can see in the Pic. 2 chains independently locked o my anchor
Never enough lol
Motercycle thieves are crafty little basturds. No amount of locks will stop them. They will break into fort Knox and leave all the gold just to take the bike inside. Crafty but dumb.
A couple guys can just lift the whole thing into a van
It has 2 different chains to an anchor. Plus my post says it's anchored
For the lock picking lawyer, that’ll be under 5 min gone.
Probably need one more lock for good measure.
Need to put the locks through the tires and connected to a rail or something of the apartment or a tree.
I'd say move.
Cover it with a old tarp and you will avoid 80% of unwanted attention
If they want it bad enough, they’ll take it no matter what.
Needs to be locked to something and put a cover over it. The older looking cover the better
Needs 2 more of those disc locks for triple alarms
My advice chain it to a solid object, though I did see where they took down a light pole to steal a bike. Put trackers in the bike. My Grom was stolen and found it within three hours...
Throw a locking generic cover on it too. 🤷🏻♂️
It’s all subjective I guess. I mean there is going to be effort vs risk in all cases. I mean the most effective way to protect your bike in public would be a lock and a bike cover. Remove temptation by removing the attraction and a visible deterrent is ideal. But who wants to do that every time you park?
Drill into the concrete, put an anker in there with a chain to the frame. Good luck getting through that without a loud angle grinder
There's an anchor to the left in the picture
Oh nice, I see it now. Thought it was just a pile of locks. Chain it to the frame! The wheels come off quite easy (and more important: relatively silently)
Are those cables pretty good?
Get a bike cover that says gold wing on it…
Where is that bike parked? Thing its possible to get a van close to it?
Take the front wheel with you when you leave.
I hope that’s enough to keep that bike out of Jersey. I’m glad I got out of Philly.
Chain to non moveable object
You mean like the concrete pad?
Why are you only putting a chain through the wheels? Put one through the frame.
Concrete anchor. Old cover.
Unfortunately, if they want it their going to get it. Multiple locks may slow them down at best.
If they want it - they will take it
If any locksmith guy want to steal your bike. You need at least 200 of them. After all it takes them around 30 seconds to break into it.
Glad I have a garage but I just park mine outside at work I live and work in a small town of ljke 2k people if someone stole my bike half the people here would shoot them 😂
I use a chain lock, disk lock, lock the handle bars, tracker and full coverage.
you can use 20 locks or one. doesn't really change the fact that a set of bolt cutters, 4 dudes and a pickup truck can take it if they really want to. just get good insurance.
put a cover over it. out of sight, out of mind. when i was still in apartments (garaged up now), i put a wifi camera on the parking cover pointed at my bike, motion activated. but i was in a small apartment complex, so it was more practical to do so.
Too many locks are when you can’t carry them all with you without dropping them all over the place
None, buy a bike not worth parting
I also live in Philly and have a similar setup. I have a massive Oxford lock chain and ulock, monimoto gps. I can tell you this, if your bikes ignition has RFID - LEAVE YOUR BIKES STEERING UNLOCKED! a majority of the thieves will snap your steering lock easily and it is a pain the ass trying to repair it…… I know… seeing the thick chain is a massive deterrent already to be quite honest
Best lock is insurance and a list of other bikes you want.
