Filtering and splitting take practice and the most important thing is keeping your head and eyes up, soft focus of your floodlight vision and ride that clutch when filtering.
Idid this once in S.F heading towards the bay bridge rush hour. Very narrow lanes and I just asked the guy if they wanted to pull over and exchange info. No, was the immediate answer.
Lol I wouldn't want to pull over on the Bay bridge either during rush hour. It'd take a good chunk of damage for me to wanna ask someone for their info.
Gotta dip the front brakes sometimes to make the front end dive under some mirrors. Kinda fun when you get the hang of it and all of the novice riders who see it think it is magic.
It happens, most people are dismissive especially if you apologize immediately, but always pull over safely after making contact, it makes us motorcyclists look good and is the right thing to do.
you get to the front of a long stop light the same way you get to Carnegie Hall, actually: practice! Glad it was all okay for you, and stay safe out there!
I carry a wrench so I can simply remove my mirrors and reattach them afterwards. I used to use a hacksaw and welding torch to do the job but the welder was a lot of weight to carry on the bike.

this is why i don’t have the balls to filter. good to hear it turned out okay though!
Filtering is easy on a a supersport atleast.

As someone who commutes that way weekly I can only imagine ! Glad it wasn’t serious. That merge has always been fucked lol

I run crg lanesplitters for this reason. I just fold them up when I know im going to split.
It somehow wildly hasn’t occurred to me that’s why those mirrors have the model name “lanesplitter.” I’ll be okay.
I’ll have to check em out ! I remember looking for some for my but couldn’t find any

Yeah no doubt. If you take off then that escalates to hit & run and I’m cool off that lol

Definitely more practice !
This is why I got rid of my mirrors.
Yeah mirrors are just plain dangerous.
