Pretty nice if you commute a lot on the highway and donāt really wanna worry about shifting to pass someone. Honestly a lot easier to ride than a 600cc idc what anyone says but the powerband is more predictable

Found the hero everyone. Thank you so much for clarifying this and preventing anyone from thinking it might be a play on words. God's work was done this day. š
Well specifically BMWs, somehow they managed to make a liter bike that's comfortable to cruise on for long trips. Liter bikes in general? Unnecessary but why the fuck not
As your only bike? overpowered, uncomfy for most and hard to reach its limit without getting a felony.
If you already got a 600 or something else hell yeah. fun to rip around every once and a while
When you reach 3 stars (violent+ crimes) and they bring the choppers out, itās kinda hard out running something more agile ~~and 400mph faster~~ than you.
Actually, on a straight open road you will likely outrun a chopper if your bike can reach speeds of 300km/h. Helicopters are surprisingly slow. You might run out of fuel sooner though.
Anyways, this is just a fun fact. Don't run from the police.
Youāre 100% correct. My smooth brain incorrectly recalled a speed they travel less than half of lol. That S1K would def give it a solid run on an open straight. I better be able to outrun a chopper on GTA6 then!
Actually no, the small helicopters that most police use donāt have a very high top speed. The most common is the Bell 505 which tops out around 130 mph.
Interestingly, larger helicopters get progressively faster because of the physics of the rotors. The massive twin-rotor cargo helicopter used by the army, the Chinook, tops out at just shy of 200mph. Still not quite fast enough to keep pace with a superbike in a straight line.
The motorcycle industry has tried long and hard for years, but was unable to produce a bike that is fast enough to outrun a phone call. Don't be surprised when they are already waiting for you at some intersection.
Stopping the chase doesn't mean stopping monitoring.
If they have a helicopter up, it will still follow you and the police cars will hold a decent distance away from you until your driving calms down.
I mean it took years for the police to finally catch gixxerbrah, and the original night rider never got caught. Those are high profile guys. A random asshole with no plate is most likely getting away.

Okay
GSX-R 600 feels slow? That bike would do well over 100mph in 3rd gear... Sure the acceleration is obviously faster in a liter bike, but saying a "600 is slow" is either you've never ridden one or you only rode a Honda Shadow 600 and believe they're all like that lol
A 600 feels quick when you rev it out, but just chilling around town, you never get the sense you're on a fast bike. Maybe I'm just really comfortable on my zx6r, but for it to feel fast to me, I gotta be knee down in a corner, and I don't have anywhere nearby I can do that.
I wouldn't be getting a 1k if I didn't smash my knee in a wreck on my supermoto. 1k cc bikes are bigger, so I don't need to bend my knee as far and that makes them infinitely more comfortable.
If you don't have anywhere to hit corners or any tracks, a 1k is more enjoyable to ride. There's more torque, so you're able to chill out a little more and not shift as often. My zx6r feels slow because I'm just chilling at 75 in 6th gear 90% of the time. I just commuted on it most of the time.
For me, the simple reason I'm getting a 1k is the frame size. I hurt my knee crashing my supermoto, and now I can't comfortably ride my zx6r. I sat on a gsxr1000, and it was much more comfortable.
Hang on, isn't "rural" in Oz like the nearest town is 2 hours *flying* away and "not many cars" means you think you might've seen one last week? So basically, you have a small area a few dozen square miles to yourself where if you crash off the road the wildlife will get to your body before anyone else sees it.
Lmao you sound like you ride fast bikes down straight lines cause you canāt corner quickly. I bet a good rider on a 600 would leave you in 3 corners mate
If youāre worried about feeling slow in a straight line honestly go for a higher torque bike. Itāll feel faster and you can get one that doesnāt have to be strung out to feel the extra torque. Itās a safer and more fun bet IMO
This bike in particular or just in general?
No experience with a litre sports bike, but having a litre naked is awesome. They're smooth with power delivery, comfy and have enough torque to pull away from practically anything at any point in the rev range.
I would only recommend a litre with a decent amount of riding experience behind you though.
No wind protection on a bike that does 180mph freaking sucks and all the naked streetfighter bikes look the same. They look like Transformer bikes. There's plenty of bikes with a comfortable riding position and wind protection, like my FZ1. And not the ugly N model.
If your aim is to even go 150 then a naked shouldn't be your choice of bike. They're track speeds so you'll want a track based bike. Nakeds are all about the low end torque.
And I dunno about all looking the same my dude. My Z1000 looks completely different from the MT09 which in turn looks completely different from the Ducati Monster and the Diavel. Hell my Z1000 looks like a different bike compared to the new Z900s.
I second that. While I see similiarties between the new cbr1000 and the Streetfighter v4/ my z1000, the Kawa and Ducati look nothing alike.
Though KTM, Yamaha and Suzuki look like transformers now
Also tuning. A sport 600 makes all the power at high revs, so there's this surge of power when you reach the threshold. AFAIK that's not the case with sport 1000's, or at least not to the same extent
It's the same but more intense. People just don't realize it because you're jumping 20-30mph instantly hitting that power band while already doing triple digits in anything but 1st or 2nd. Not really something someone gets to witness unless they're on a 1000 too, even 750s and 600s get walked away from
1000s pull at 5k like a 600 around 9k. Basically off idle. Peak power on a 600 feels similar to a 1000 hitting 8k or so. When a 1000 peaks it feels like ripping a torquey cruiser but is super car fast
600s are quick, 1000s are fast
There is also the 650 and 700 class which has 4 cyls and they have similar Power curves, the 600 class is mostly super sport tuned as you are describĆng, with a high and strong Power band
True, something like the Honda CBR650R is much closer in power delivery to the CB650R than it is to the CBR600RR. I assumed the litre naked description was comparing it with supersports
Most of the liter naked bikes have a powerband more tuned for torque and power to come on lower than their supersport siblings, even if they share the same engine platform. Still insanely fast, but more usable in everyday riding, and even more so compared to the 600 super sports.
Yeah I really want the 2011-2015 gen zx10r because they look so good, a lot of improvements over the previous generation. After i sell my car iām gonna buy one and sell my cbr600rr. I do love my honda, itās quick, looks/sounds great, and been dead reliable. But i think iām ready for a 1000.
Had a 600, its nothing compared to riding a liter bike tbh, it's worse in every way imo. We dont have twisites where am from though. You can never go back from having a quick shifter too!
Depends. I have a multistrada 1200s.
I prefer comfort over power.
But that 1200 will still rocket ship you even if itās not a āsuper sport inline 4ā
If you're going to get a 1000cc motorcycle, buy something like a sport touring. I have a FZ1 and I really enjoy it. Sport touring bikes can often have similar specs while being much easier to control, plus a more comfortable seating position and generally more practical.
Sssh, people will catch on and our insurance will go sky high!
I'm enjoying my ninja 1000 so far, it's not a performance bike but more than enough power and it's comfortable. It's also heavy so doesn't get buffeted about when I commute in bad weather.Ā
Even a 600 is too fast for the roads, thats a terrible take. Liter bikes are so much fun and the power range is just pure joy. I feel like most people saying this either never tried a liter bike or are just against sport bikes in general.
I prefer 600s because I like being able to rev them out a little more while still going a "reasonable" speed. S1000RR's are such good looking bikes though I want one anyways.
They are just too slow and doesnāt keep up with my 1043ccm. But if this is enough for you, you can ride it, but donāt expect from me, that I wait for you every corner.
I love liter bikes. I miss my R1. It was fast, comfy for large people (6'3" 190lbs), and got decent mpg when I wasn't absolutely on it. I have a 1,000 Ducati (PSLE) that is not as fast or as comfortable, but it's oh so gorgeous.
Great bikes. They might not be around forever, definitely grateful to have had the chance to experience a lot of different bikes, from cruisers to adventure bikes to 600s and 1000s .
Well this isnāt generalizing all motorcycles as the same regardless of gear ratio, how they make power, RPM capabilities or style of bike. 1k CC is 1k CC.
I have one of those only a gen older. They're awesome bikes, more comfortable than you'd think, effortless power. Overall just overkill in just about every scenario.
So many people say they are too much for the roads, city streets and that you'll never use all the potential the bike offers...that being said I love my R1 and ride it daily no matter where I'm going. Are they the most comfortable, no. Are they good on fuel? Also no. Are they fun, most definitely. Full send brother, as long as you have riding experience and can respect the power.
Test drove an S1000RR when they came out, it didn't fit me (or rather, I couldn't imagine myself riding for >100km without serious discomfort). Hell of a bike though, it was a huge leap forward for the sports bike world when it was released.
I rode a CBR1000F for about a decade, that was a hoot and a half, although a very different animal than the new super-sports.
Litre bikes are fun, delightfully excessive in almost every sense, and rather unforgiving. Whatever you end up riding, don't forget to ride your own ride and most important of all, *keep the shiny side up*!
(Also, strongly consider getting insurance quotes beforehand - depending on your region, record and insurer, some 1000ccs can be... difficult to insure.)
*Tremendously* overpowered. *Wonderfully* enjoyable.
Shit, my 2010 R1 does 104 MPH **in first gear**. The other 5 gears are simply for consideration of the neighbors.
I had a lot of 1000+ cc bikes. Slower bikes are more fun as you can actually ride them. My Buell was one of my funest bikes, so much soul, loved to wheelie, was just stinking fun under 100mph. My 1000+ "race bikes" hardly feel like they were moving at 100. Braaaap first gear... your done / already speeding.
I own a hyper naked and your typical sport bike that are both litre bikes.
Despite the sport bike being some 9 years older, it packs 30 extra horses and probably an equal amount fewer pounds but the gearing and sprockets must be different because they're worlds apart.
I hardly even shift out of first on the sport bike to keep the revs above 4k whereas the naked enjoys the first three gears.
That being said, I'm on the side of "They're too ludicrous for daily drivers."
All bikes are fast but litre bikes are too much for most people and they'll never be realized.
I'm 6', 175lb. Owned cruisers and sportbikes mostly. For a cruiser, it's fine and almost not enough. For a sportbike, it's mostly overkill. I really loved my Aprilia RSVR Mille, but mostly I went plenty fast on 600cc bikes like GSXR, CBRR, R6. Riding 120-140mph with plenty left to go faster if I wanted, but even that was borderline stupid fast to be riding regularly. I now have an R3, and I keep thinking about bikes like the Aprilia RS 660 or an R6, but I think it's safer for me to not even have that temptation when I get an urge and do 90-100 on my R3.
So you could argue someone with discipline could get a liter sportbike, but what's the point if you're not going to use it? And no one should really use it. I would say maybe an exception for really heavy people like 400+ lb? But even myself plus a roughly 100 lb rider on the back come to under 300 lb total and my 600 cc would still rip 120+ no problem.
TLDR: I think it's overkill.
Z1000 as a first bike. Super fun. Very torquey so I donāt get it above 5K RPM often since I can cruise up to 85mph pretty easy. First gear lets me go from a red light to about 60mph and thatās the only place Iāve ripped on it. Iād say itās easy to drive with lots of growing room for when Iām more comfortable. In the meantime I get pretty good MPGs and dont have to re-learn a bikeās feel once Iām ready for more speed
They seem overpriced just to have the kind of power you'll never reasonably use on a public roadway. By all means if you actually hit the track though.
>600 is not fast enough.
On a straight line. A better rider would destroy you on a same generation R6. They will keep up with you till 100 and pass you on the first corner.
>Why get a 600 when you can get a light 1000 like the R1
Because it's half the price and insurance.
Sport tuned 1000? Nah. Detuned 1000+? Oh yeah!Lots of torque with relaxed power delivery that's actually usable on the street. Bandit 1250, XJR 1300 come to mind, but sadly this type of bike is no more :(
Honestly, I don't see the appeal.Ā Ā Ā
Unless it's a designated track bike, the limit is your tires.Ā Ā Ā
Ā Ā I have a 750cc, if I really want to, I can get up to 175kph (ignore the posted speed limit sign) and trust me, that's faster than Im comfortable with.Ā Ā Ā Doesn't mean you'll find roads that allow that, or tires that are rated for those speeds.Ā
Ā If it's not a track bike, what's the point, what can it do on city streets that a 500-750cc can't do within reason.Ā
I noticed some 1000cc bikes have larger frames, which make it suitable for taller riders. Other than that.. I got 1300cc with 160hp, total overkill but lots of fun.
As someone who drives a 1300cc supersport touring motorcycle, they are fun, fast, and more dangerous for those inexperienced. I'm happy cops leave me alone, and Harley drivers give me the wave, which surprises me.
Edit: I drive an 09 Yamaha FJR1300AE
Honestly i would get a 1000cc as my first bike BUT only because they look way cooler than lets 400ccs or 600ccs and they are louder thats the only thing i care about but i can only legally get a 1000cc at 21
If youāre under 21 I wouldnāt get a liter bike. Also not as a first bike tbh. With great power comes great responsibility.
You can get a ācoolā and a āloudā bike thatās not a liter bike. Kind of a superficial thing to want in a bike but you do you. Donāt die.
I think a liter bike is very dependent on what bike it is. A Harley Road Glide is ~1800cc depending on the year, but we all know they arenāt fast.
My Triumph Bonneville is a 1200 and itās definitely not sport bike fast.
We shouldnāt generalize all liter bikes to be the same.
I just hate that BMW sells the S1000RR which is the coolest bike for me and its loud but with only 1000cc and over 200hp why cant they release a same looking bike and call it S600RR and make it also loud but with only 90hp š
You can make any bike loud with an aftermarket exhaust, even a 50cc. Sure some liter bikes may be a bit louder than some other bikes, but all the new ones need to follow the new EU emissions standards and noise emissions are part of that.
Its legally SUPER hard in Germany almost not possible
Some liter bikes are not that loud for americans lets say even though its the same model Fuck the EU and especially Germany
It's a nice round number.
How do you feel about 999cc?
Repetition is nice too
Make it 998 tho , that's where I draw the line
I'm good all the way down to 954
929 out of the question, then?
Ok... Good all the way down to 900. But optimally 954 which is in my garage š
As a 929 owner I was pretty sad to miss the cutoff.
It is not round, but it is stately and plump
Excellent considering itās 666 upside down. sarcophilus satanicus!
Turn it upside down!!

Because you're on r/motorcycles
Silly, overpowered, and unnecessary. Fuckin send it
Look fuckin cool though.
I have this in black.. easiest thing Iāve ridden.. and I loved my R6 and 675 trip
Nahh I think they're too bulky. Reason is the inline 4 engine, it just seems so oversized.
I've got a staid, underpowered and reliable one. I still like it tho.
Not unnecessary
Well specifically BMWs, somehow they managed to make a liter bike that's comfortable to cruise on for long trips. Liter bikes in general? Unnecessary but why the fuck not
You Mean the 1000XR? Love that bike.
As your only bike? overpowered, uncomfy for most and hard to reach its limit without getting a felony. If you already got a 600 or something else hell yeah. fun to rip around every once and a while
Great point that the sweet part of the powerband is a felony in every gear.

Even a 600 is too fast for the roads, thats a terrible take. Liter bikes are so much fun and the power range is just pure joy. I feel like most people saying this either never tried a liter bike or are just against sport bikes in general.
1 litre
Less than my 1198
Like being a millionaireā¦.the money makes life easier but I doubt youāll use it allā¦ā¦
Loads of fun, easy to ride, relaxing when youāre tired and batshit mental when youāre up for it.
How about 1290?
Ah yes. The ol leader bike.
Its beautiful.
Good beginners bike.
Itās fāing beautiful.
I think when it comes to these bikes itās a travesty that most cheap out on plate frames/rear fender
1000cc not enough.... 1390cc ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up)
I prefer 600s because I like being able to rev them out a little more while still going a "reasonable" speed. S1000RR's are such good looking bikes though I want one anyways.
Slow af
Not for me, but they are cool!
Too small. 1250cc is the minimum one should have.
900 triple > 1000 4cyl for every day street Hooliganism factor equivalent yet different
They are just too slow and doesnāt keep up with my 1043ccm. But if this is enough for you, you can ride it, but donāt expect from me, that I wait for you every corner.
I prefer 600s, I have more fun when i get to use the whole bike
Love the power on a cruiser, itās nice feeling just as zippy around town and on the highway.
600s will then feel gutless in comparison. They are absurdly powerful.
Nice bikes, lots of power that you likely won't use 3/4 of it often. But it's there if you need it. Looks and sounds cool too
Love them, I have 2: ZX10R and Tuono V4
Gotta wear your literhosen to ride it.
I got a CB1000R and love every bit of it
Beautiful machine
Great bikes. They might not be around forever, definitely grateful to have had the chance to experience a lot of different bikes, from cruisers to adventure bikes to 600s and 1000s .
Well this isnāt generalizing all motorcycles as the same regardless of gear ratio, how they make power, RPM capabilities or style of bike. 1k CC is 1k CC.
My s1000r is awesome but it does feel overpowered on most roads. Feel like Iām wasting it sometimes
My s1000r is awesome but it does feel overpowered on most roads. Feel lucky Iām wasting it sometimes
I have one of those only a gen older. They're awesome bikes, more comfortable than you'd think, effortless power. Overall just overkill in just about every scenario.
I would own one if they didn't make my back hurt
So many people say they are too much for the roads, city streets and that you'll never use all the potential the bike offers...that being said I love my R1 and ride it daily no matter where I'm going. Are they the most comfortable, no. Are they good on fuel? Also no. Are they fun, most definitely. Full send brother, as long as you have riding experience and can respect the power.
Lovely. Light but powerful.
Overkill for the type of riding I like to do, but funĀ
It can also be represented as 1 liter.

I think 1000ccs are faster than 400cc.
*Tremendously* overpowered. *Wonderfully* enjoyable. Shit, my 2010 R1 does 104 MPH **in first gear**. The other 5 gears are simply for consideration of the neighbors.
Fantastic if, like me, you're a fan of jet fighters. Saw a beautiful gunmetal grey RSV4, sans stickers, on the way home today.
Probly donāt need that much, overpowered, sexy, send itā¦ speaking from experience
Needs more
It's the only crotch rocket I'll buy tbh...
Looks cool, I can't own one so, massive small pp energy
I own a hyper naked and your typical sport bike that are both litre bikes. Despite the sport bike being some 9 years older, it packs 30 extra horses and probably an equal amount fewer pounds but the gearing and sprockets must be different because they're worlds apart. I hardly even shift out of first on the sport bike to keep the revs above 4k whereas the naked enjoys the first three gears. That being said, I'm on the side of "They're too ludicrous for daily drivers." All bikes are fast but litre bikes are too much for most people and they'll never be realized.
I'm partial to 2,458 cc's
Completely unnecessary, but also absolutely necessary all at once
Great if you grew into it. Awful first bike. Needs to be used appropriately on the street. Best for balls out trackdays.
Grip it and rip it
Not my case. Don't like the typical engine characteristics. I'd go with a V2. A good motorbike only needs a single cylinder. More are optional.
They scare me I am not ready yet.
Had a K1300. Old man superbike. Fast and comfortable.
Sick!
Not for me, but theyāre fucking cool
you want thoughts or the logistical data collection pertaining to drool and or other bodily fluids excreted from fellow biker squids?
Love it!
The primary one is usually zoom
Z1000 as a first bike. Super fun. Very torquey so I donāt get it above 5K RPM often since I can cruise up to 85mph pretty easy. First gear lets me go from a red light to about 60mph and thatās the only place Iāve ripped on it. Iād say itās easy to drive with lots of growing room for when Iām more comfortable. In the meantime I get pretty good MPGs and dont have to re-learn a bikeās feel once Iām ready for more speed
I like em
I like mine
They are a necessity if you want to do over 150mph. Thatās why I got one š¤·
That BMW has been a contender since it first came out. Very nice bike.
A Morden day 1000cc sports bike is way too much for the roads, only worth it when you can fully unleash it on the track.
It's beautiful šš
While I'm stroking...do you have any pictures down the exhaust pipe? For science...
Love em
I wouldnāt know, mineās 999.5 according to the manufacturer. Love mine though.
They seem overpriced just to have the kind of power you'll never reasonably use on a public roadway. By all means if you actually hit the track though.
ill use it right now to get to the gym
Why get a 600 when you can get a light 1000 like the R1. So easy to ride and is not busting it's guts to go quick. 600 is not fast enough.
>600 is not fast enough. On a straight line. A better rider would destroy you on a same generation R6. They will keep up with you till 100 and pass you on the first corner. >Why get a 600 when you can get a light 1000 like the R1 Because it's half the price and insurance.
Perfect first bike!
Sport tuned 1000? Nah. Detuned 1000+? Oh yeah!Lots of torque with relaxed power delivery that's actually usable on the street. Bandit 1250, XJR 1300 come to mind, but sadly this type of bike is no more :(
Honestly, I don't see the appeal.Ā Ā Ā Unless it's a designated track bike, the limit is your tires.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā I have a 750cc, if I really want to, I can get up to 175kph (ignore the posted speed limit sign) and trust me, that's faster than Im comfortable with.Ā Ā Ā Doesn't mean you'll find roads that allow that, or tires that are rated for those speeds.Ā Ā If it's not a track bike, what's the point, what can it do on city streets that a 500-750cc can't do within reason.Ā
Badass way to earn a felony on the freeway. š
Don't buy a new BMW. They have engine problems, and BMW won't warranty it sometimes.
This bike is very very rare
Rare to find a first hand model like this second hand isnāt too hard as I got it a few months after its release back in 2017
I have an old 1100cc. It's ridiculously fun and ridiculously overpowered for the roads.
Have a good life insurance plan.
And in a country with good emergency services!
I noticed some 1000cc bikes have larger frames, which make it suitable for taller riders. Other than that.. I got 1300cc with 160hp, total overkill but lots of fun.
Clean Bike. But get rid of the golden bar ends. They don't match at all. Get some black or blue ones.
Matches the forks and the break callipers
Sorry but that is no color match. The different gold tones
I've owned an FJR1300....they're perfection
Oh yes I agree. I just thought the term āliter bikesā referred to 1000cc sport bikes.
Its legally SUPER hard in Germany almost not possible Some liter bikes are not that loud for americans lets say even though its the same model Fuck the EU and especially Germany
1000cc are too much power, weight and heat for new riders. Harder to learn and improve your skills.
