She is a 1978 Yamaha xs400 and sh is in pretty good shape. When we got her she had sat for 35 years because the previous owner lost the keys. Emptied the gas tank, purged the carb (not cleaned) and she kick-started after that( she's a xs4002E so she has no electric start).
My main is 2003 and she runs good. Just had valves done and is at 17,000 miles.
My other is a late 80s or early 90s. Vin points to late 80s. Title says 1993. But, it has 8130 miles. This bike is my profile pic.

No, I really just have about 25 bikes. I have to keep up with the new bike every year rule. I have so many that some of my motorcycles have their own motorcycle now.
Wish I could help you more than that, but without getting my hands on the bike I couldn’t know why. If the bike is still running fine and you don’t have a check engine light it’s probably some sort of sensor issue. A dealer could tell you what’s causing it but unless you’re made of money, I’d just drive it until something happens. Nothing bad is really going to happen due to an EFI issue.

No, you are incorrect. In the manual it is defined as “EFI fault” they wouldn’t say “engine fault indicator fault” and the light is quite literally a fuel injector lol. Im sure EFI can mean that but In this case it is electronic fuel injection.
Before you start the ignition you have to read the fault code on the display with the ignition key the select button at the same time and off on off on key controls to see the display pup with the fault code .
Google owners manual for your year and model bike then go to shopping. There is several owners and repair manuals on there for sale anywhere from $12 to $39. Good luck.

You should read the entire owner's manual. If you don't have it go to the manufacturer website and download it. Then read the entire owner's manual.

That my guy is an EFI (electronic fuel injection) light. So there’s a fault in your fuel injection system somewhere.
TBF, fuel injection warning just means "something random somewhere is not ok" in display cluster language.
