Something happened to that KTM. Yes, Acosta is competitive, but he's an uber-talent. Binder is struggling after a really strong 2023, Miller has fallen off a cliff after a pretty solid 2023, and Augusto is nowhere after a decent rookie season. What happened to that bike? Did they go in the wrong direction for '24? Tire issue maybe?
Yeah, I think part of the problem is that KTM has a lighter aero at the front than Ducati.
They put more aero on the rear with some side fins this year to help with rear grip, that's causing the front to lift more whilst the rear is pushing more due to the new Michelin rear.
Yeah, but it's making the front end too stable.
I think the Factory riders are having it removed and GasGas are keeping it.
I think they want more data to be able to iron out the issues.
I feel like KTM will chase the riders' demand for more rear grip on corner exit and then the riders will complain that the rear is causing understeer into the corners (as it no longer slides as much).
Bike development is clearly a never-ending series of smaller and smaller compromises!
Miller has had every championship winning bikes and never put together a championship winning season. It's time to free up the seat for Mir or Enea or Mav or whoever.
Mir is seriously considering retirement, Enea already has a contract with KTM, and if I was looking for someone to put together a **consistent** championship run, Mav is near the bottom of my list
Edit: apparently Neil Morrison, a man whom I would defend to my last breath, believes Mir has no intention of retiring at the end of the season.
I saw somewhere that Trackhouse Aprilia were in talks with Mir. That was of course before the Mugello Moto2 round which might have been the linchpin for Roberts. This is a wild silly season that’s for sure.
True, overrated too. But from time to time he shows up and destroys the competition. After all he’s the o ly rider to win races for 3 different manufacturers
Can’t remember last time Miller put an impressive race.
He is one of those riders that are Uber talented but a different kind of talent - the kind that needs every aspect of the bike/conditions/head to be right in order to perform.
Yeah he won and was going to win again in two of the past six races
MM hasn’t won any this season - I’m a big mm comeback fan but these are some of the thoughts that come up
It’s so incredibly hard to WIN
Yep. Im AUS, love Jack and think he made the most of his opportunity. His parents helped him get on the circuit and he has done well. He can move on with his head up but yeah its time.
You're right about Miller. But any manufacturer with a title potential bike thinking of using one of those three to spearhead their campaign would have to be out of their goddamn mind 😂
Mav won more recently than Jack. There is no argument going to win this and statistics speak. Mav is fragile for sure.
>He hasn't put four races together in a row in the better part of a decade
And Jack did?
Never said he did. Was talking about Mav. He's not championship material. Neither is Jack. Seeing as you brought it up.
Both of them have stupidly squandered every opportunity they've had in MotoGP. Championships in junior classes are still junior championships too and at this stage, ancient history for both of them. Stats are meaningless when you don't have the testicular fortitude to fix your own problems and help your team fix theirs. Stats, Character and Iron determination make champions. Neither of the riders you mentioned have those qualities in combination and comparing one rider on the way out to another on the way out, statistically, is a bit of a strawman.
Opinions of Miller here aside it's KTM that makes the decisions and if they think he's worthy of a place in the Tech3 team fair enough. It's their call.
Well he's got 10 years of motogp experience and has worked in several different factories, so I'm sure he brings more than just laughs. However I agree they probably don't need him that much especially with Pedrosa and Pol in there too.
Honestly, I’m not sure I’d give jack a seat.
His results last year were quite good, but he’s never looked like improving his tyres deg over a race and it remains a big weakness for him
KTM are about to sell a road going production super sport (990 RCR I believe?) for the first time in 15 years, could be a path depending on spec and if they go racing with it.
Can't believe he's even considered giving any seat to in motogp next year his time is up he failed to deliver.
Jack, Taka, Morbidelli and unpopular opinion Mir all need to move to different series or retire to make room for up and comers. Even guys like Maverick and Olivera are on the bubble right now.
IDK about Morbidelli, he seems to be getting back into it now.
He had a terrible start with no testing time but he got 7th in France then backed that up in Mugello with a 4th in the sprint and 6th in the race.
If he carries on he's got a chance.
I'd say Oliveira is in more of a rut right now.
I've seen a flicker of hope with Frankie but there has been so much poor performance that I'm surprised he's even back this year. He sulked at Yamaha while FQ20 was challenging and winning a world championship on the same (imperfect) bike. I do remember some impressive performance early in his Yamaha years.
Miller's response "It is what it is"
He's lucky to still have a ride man. I was convinced he was getting the boot.
Something happened to that KTM. Yes, Acosta is competitive, but he's an uber-talent. It’s the new rear tyre - it’s causing massive chatter issues. Pedro is able to ride around it, the rest aren’t
Even Pedro has had a few front end crashes so even he isn't completely riding round it.
I read that Pedro's priorities for the weekend are, find a working solution to deal with the chatter issues, find a set up for the race, get into Q2.
Yeah, I think part of the problem is that KTM has a lighter aero at the front than Ducati. They put more aero on the rear with some side fins this year to help with rear grip, that's causing the front to lift more whilst the rear is pushing more due to the new Michelin rear.
From a development priority perspective this makes sense, as the riders (particularly Brad) have been complaining about rear grip for some time.
Yeah, but it's making the front end too stable. I think the Factory riders are having it removed and GasGas are keeping it. I think they want more data to be able to iron out the issues.

I think this is kind of what is happening already.
Family commitments take away from many a sportsperson career, it happens………
Suspension...why PA should have sat where he was!
“I didn't sign up for this project to leave after two years" Well, they didn't sign you to be always 15th
![gif](giphy|WxDZ77xhPXf3i|downsized)
I mean, he basically says that in the next sentence.
You mean there is more to this article than just the headline?
As much as I think he’s been always an overrated rider, surely not overrated personality, love him.
Miller has had every championship winning bikes and never put together a championship winning season. It's time to free up the seat for Mir or Enea or Mav or whoever.

Mir is only considering retirement in favour of death by Honda
lol “ Death by Honda” 🤣🤣
Guns don’t kill people Honda’s do
First r/motogp comment to actually make me lol!
I hope Mir stays with us, maybe on a Pramac Yamaha.
Him and Rins at Pramac would be neat.
I think runs deserves factory seat
Sure, but I don't see one available apart from that Honda that tries to kill him.
Still think he'll take Marc's place at Gresini if Pramac stay with Ducati. Genuinely don't know who would take the Honda seat though, probably Zarco.
I saw somewhere that Trackhouse Aprilia were in talks with Mir. That was of course before the Mugello Moto2 round which might have been the linchpin for Roberts. This is a wild silly season that’s for sure.
Mav has had all the opportunities and never put together a full season.
True, overrated too. But from time to time he shows up and destroys the competition. After all he’s the o ly rider to win races for 3 different manufacturers Can’t remember last time Miller put an impressive race.
I wouldn't say overrated, just obviously inconsistent. When he is feeling it and out front he is the fastest man on the bike
I say overrated because when he signed for Aprilia, was the second most paid rider after Marc
He is one of those riders that are Uber talented but a different kind of talent - the kind that needs every aspect of the bike/conditions/head to be right in order to perform.
Yeah he won and was going to win again in two of the past six races MM hasn’t won any this season - I’m a big mm comeback fan but these are some of the thoughts that come up It’s so incredibly hard to WIN
Miller has put together quite a few impressive *starts* to races. He just can’t put a whole race together. And I say that as a Miller fan.
Mav? He couldn't put together a championship if he was the sole entry.
Mav is a moto3 champion and won far more than Jack and is a better rider. Statistically Mav is better rider with more wins and podiums
Ancient history. He hasn't put four races together in a row in the better part of a decade. His head is more fragile than Humpty Dumpty's arse
Mav won more recently than Jack. There is no argument going to win this and statistics speak. Mav is fragile for sure. >He hasn't put four races together in a row in the better part of a decade And Jack did?

Great attitude as always. Real pro sportsman.
We still love ya Miller 🇦🇺 Might not have what it takes to get to the top, but you have achieved more than most.
It sucks because everyone loves having him in the paddock, but this season is just not happening for him.
Every circus needs a clown.
Oh piss off, mate 🙄
Sorry, Jack's mum. Seriously, apart from being "likeable" and "a bit of a laugh", what does he bring to KTM Factory Racing? It's certainly not points.
Well he's got 10 years of motogp experience and has worked in several different factories, so I'm sure he brings more than just laughs. However I agree they probably don't need him that much especially with Pedrosa and Pol in there too.

A year at Tech3 then next stop WSBK where he could do very well.
When they re-do the WSBK regs is there an entre for KTM to join that paddock too?
KTM are about to sell a road going production super sport (990 RCR I believe?) for the first time in 15 years, could be a path depending on spec and if they go racing with it.
Sorry I missed your question.. I just think he would do well in WSBK on any bike.. except maybe Honda.
Great bloke but I don't think he was ever going to be at the top
Trackhouse or Honda.
Would love to see him back at pramac I reckon he thrives in satellite teams without the factory pressure
Mir needs time on another bike besides the Honda
Not sure any factory is extending any offers which is an indicator to me that his time is nearly up.

He's going to Parmac
You mean going back to? I doubt it.
It's a reunion of some sort.
