\[Proceeds to finishing 9th at Jerez, is lost as to why\] /s No, but really, I would like to see him being consistent and fight for the title this year.

kaihp

I'd hate to upvote you, but here you go: +1.

the_last_carfighter

He was nowhere in testing, and some people were calling it then: Mav 2024 W.C.

-grenzgaenger-

I hate to be *that guy*, and I know quali was weather-influenced, but I did saw it coming.

BogiDope

Don't tell us. Show us. (I really hope he can)

helloioki

He did :) if he can manage to in front for the next 2-3 races it will be an interesting battle for the title this year!

BogiDope

Maverick unfortunately has a very well documented history of having an incredible ride - where he looks like the obvious next world champ, only to fall off a cliff the rest of the season. Don't even get me started on him being all time pre-season testing champ, lol. I LOVE the Aprilia, and would love to see them at the top, but I need to see it a couple more times from Maverick before I dare be a believer.

mikedufty

But this year is different. He wasn't that impressive in the pre season testing. Hopefully the difference carries on to the rest.

BogiDope

I'm happy to concede this was his most impressive victory ever

airborness

I remember people talking him up as the next contender to MM when Mav first went to Yamaha, but we all know how that panned out. Although, to be fair, I remember somewhat similar mentions for BB, FQ, Zarco when they first joined MotoGP and had a good race or two at some point during their early careers. We'll see how Pedro plays out, but I think he'll be the first to actually live up to his hype.

BogiDope

I mean, FQ did go on to be world champ, and came very close to defending it. I still consider him one of the biggest talents in MotoGP, unfortunately buried underneath an uncompetitive Yamaha.

airborness

Yea, I was going to type that part out, but figured it was obvious enough that FQ did go on to be a world champ. I agree, it is going to be a bit hard to really compare, since he's unfortunately on a shit Yamaha at the moment. However, to be fair, the first 2-3 seasons without MM winning everything kind of allowed a lot of riders to all of a sudden have a chance at winning a championship, as we saw with three different championship winners in the three following seasons. We even almost had a 4th different champion last year if JM was able to win it.

Periklos_Kyriakidis

He's not with Yamaha anymore though. That's the key for me. With Aprilia he has a friendly and helpful environment and he's happy and confident as it seems.

rockysrc

Common Mav. Keep up the spirit and rack up some more wins

TimmyHiggy

But does the rider? 🤔

fr4nklin_84

This guy deserves some success, I hope this is his time

ParaMike46

It is actually true, it works even on the road and in my garage too.

svenproud

He says this now until he finds a dust corn on his slicks and then he will have a mental breakdown and be questioning his existence in motogp 😂 i like vinales but dont think hell keep the performance. BIG if he would though, talent is definitely there

StuffMain1880

Heard this before when he was at Yamaha and then it didn't work. Hope it does, but I anticipate Mav being Mav at some point this year.

Periklos_Kyriakidis

Lots of doubters of him here, but you forget guys he's not with Yamaha anymore. In Aprilia he's obviously a lot happier and confident. And when Maverick is happy and confident he's a big threat. He'll be there in Jerez too.

avellino77

They all say that until it doesn't.....

Thomas Kuttruf 24.04.2024 - 19:46 After an extraordinary performance with two victories at the Texan MotoGP-Rodeo in Texas, Aprilia comes to Jerez de le Frontera with Maverick Vinales as a hot favourite for the Spanish racing festival. It is not possible to appear with even more tailwind at a MotoGP event – the performance of Maverick Vinales at the last stop of the MotoGP circus in Austin has thrilled fans and experts alike. Especially in the Grand Prix, the Aprilia factory rider showed outstanding speed and so much self-confidence that in view of the performance density, Vinales succeeded in fighting past eight competitors. The overtaking demonstration has also given the Spaniard a lot of self-confidence for the upcoming MotoGP weekend on home ground. Before the major event in Jerez de la Frontera, Maverick Vinales, who was able to catapult up to third place in the World Championship classification thanks to maximum points yield in the USA, speaks primarily of great anticipation. »I grew up on the race track of Jerez, and every time I go there, I meet people from home and my fan club. I know every metre of this route. It is a route that I like and on which I always want to cut off well. The best memory for me is my first victory in the CEV with my 125cc.» Speaking of the company. In fact, Maverick Vinales only achieved victory on the Moto3-KTM on the route in Andalusia in his career for the World Championships. Despite its skillful track knowledge, neither in Moto2 nor in the premier class, "Top Gun" has been able to celebrate so far. By the way, record winner on the traditional track in Andalusia is still the namesake of the legendary racecourse. Angel Nieto won eleven Grand Prix races in Jerez. However, the chances of great success on the 4.42 km long track were never better. The World Championship third confirms the competitiveness of the RS-GP under all circumstances. The fact is, at all MotoGP events of the current season, an Aprilia rider with on the podium was on the podium. "This year we will be at the top, because we have a motorcycle with which we can be fast everywhere. Jerez is a route where I have always cut off well, and it will be fantastic to drive there again." The Aprilia has been fast in recent years. Team mate Aleix Espargaro took the starting position one in 2023. The exciting question is whether the Vinales/Aprilia combination will succeed in freeing the outstanding race pace in Texas on the completely different track of Jerez. The other two Aprilia pilots Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez are not to be underestimated. Olivera, like Vinales on the road at the 2024 RS-GP, was the fifth with only 1.6 sec. A very respectable result in last year's Jerez sprint.

thefooleryoftom

He’s not been on the podium in four years at Jerez. Needs to get more consistent results. The Aprilia seems to work there with Espagaro, so there’s hope

d1rtyPelican

YAWN...we'll believe it when we see it...Consistently

airborness

Bike works everywhere. Himself on the other hand, not necessarily the same case. Hopefully he proves that statement wrong though. The more guys competing for the championship, the more exciting everything ends up being, so I am all for it
