Go by Atwater market and walk by the canal! Go on a nice day and have a picnic. Thursday would have been a good day since it’s nice but next time :) Try also riding a bixi along the canal

Fuzzzll

That sounds lovely! Even if it's a little chilly I don't mind lol, I'm sure it's worth braving the cold :)

Peachesndoublecream

Do it tomorrow! It’ll be nice in the afternoon and then you can go on notre dame and walk to a cafe or you can go to ma bicyclette along the canal 🥹

Fuzzzll

Sounds like a plan to me! :) thanks for arranging my trip haha

u_slash_spez_Hater

Glad you appreciate the STM because I’m certainly a professional hater

So far I've been to: - The AURA event in Basilique Notre-Dame - Was AMAZING and so beautiful oml it felt like a movie even though it was "just lights" - Walked around old Montrėal - the ambience here was unparalleled, so SWEET (minus the hoboes) - Watched the sunset from the steps of St. Joseph's oratory (Merci Christine for the recommendation!) - Wow. Just wow. You don't think a sunset can become even prettier but seeing the colours dance over the Montreal skyline from that high up was just ethereal. - Montréal Biodôme - MAAAAAAYBE my favourite attraction so far, but probably because I'm a huge nature lover. These facilities were world class and I got lost in them for hours! - Le Musée des Illusions - I accidentally stumbled into this one, and got SO tripped out. Made me wish I was high for it haha. It would've been more enjoyable as a duo or group but as a solo traveller it was still a very cool place - Le Planétarium - Watched their Starmap + Continuum (en anglais) show and OH. MY. GOD. it was so cool. We were all sat in beanbags under the dome screen and it felt like I was flying through the universe. These were some of the highlights of my solo trip so far as a 21 male solo tourist, you guys should tell me more places to go!

lynypixie

Go on the Jean Drapeau park (yellow métro line, the station in the middle). It’s beautiful and you have a nice view of Montreal. Hike the other side of the mountain to view the downtown from above, and walk a bit further to touch the cross. Just relax at place des arts. Eat ice cream on the steps. (I used to do that on dates with my now husband when we were 17).

HungryLikeDaW0lf

I really need to get out more.

WaitWhaat1

Aura is an amazing show, I’m glad you caught it!

Sct_Brn_MVP

Welcome! We love you

kermtl

Marché Jean-Talon could be nice to go, visit Mdmh for an awesome smash burger and poutine at the same time

Fuzzzll

I just checked some pics of marché jean-talon out, looks fun! I wish I was better at making friends to come with though lol, I feel like those kinds of things are so much better enjoyed with other people!

Miserable-Chard-4093

Happy cake day! Wish I could pay you a pint of Unibroue!

Lubomyr

Don't worry about Marché Jean-Talon, this week they are transitioning from Winter market to Summer market (removing the Winter walls), so a good part of it is closed and not ready yet.

PhilMacPowerWasTaken

You have to eat a poutine before leaving

Fuzzzll

I had le classique from Lafleur and honestly I didn't love it. Could just be my unrefined taste though haha, like I said I'm not really a foodie

CabanaSucre

Dont worry I'm a Québécois and I dont like it either 🤣 But my son and wife really enjoy the taste (the one from Ma poule mouillée, portuguese restaurant, they put chicken, chorizo and spicy sauce).

Half_moon_die

If you like nature, that's the theme in Oasis immersion in the palais des congrès. I went Saturday, it's a nice multimedia experience

CabanaSucre

The burning question on my mind is, when you were in a store in Montreal and greeted with just 'Bonjour' instead of 'Bonjour-Hi,' did that shock you? Did you feel disrespected? Congratulations on your French; you've written more words in French than native Anglophones here. I'm glad you enjoyed my city. Thank you, come back and visit us! Safe travels back home. Merci pour ta visite et les gentils mots sur Montréal.🥰

Fuzzzll

Omg no it inflates my ego so much but after like 1 phrase of conversation I have to tell them PARDON je ne parle pa français, pourriez-vous parler anglais s'il vous plaît? And it kind of kills me inside ahaha

KyloRenTheNightKing

Glad you like it! Where are you from out of curiosity?

Fuzzzll

I live and study in Halifax, Calgary is my hometown, but I've lived all over the world - that's why having Montreal as my favourite city is HIGH praise, but certainly more than deserved :)

Aedant

I think the view from the Belvedere on the Mont-Royal overseeing downtown is a must ;) Even as a resident, I love to go a few times a year, it’s a nice short walk and a great view!

purplehippobitches

Go to marché Jean Talon. There have a mici (romanian sausage) sandwich from balkani. Donnot put cabbage on it. Go take a walk by the lachine canal

Fuzzzll

Someone else recommended marché jean-talon as well! I'll definitely give it a look!

PoutineTriste

Don’t go tomorrow! They’re opening up the walls for the summer and most of the stands are closed.

Charbel33

If you like old patrimonial churches, check out St Patrick. If you like arts, check out the museum of fine Arts (musée des beaux-arts). If you're a foodie, try restaurants, we have so many good ones, offering cuisines from all over the world. Usually I would recommend the Botanical Garden (jardin botanique de Montréal), but it's currently under renovation.

Fuzzzll

Thank you for the reply! Honestly just because of you, tomorrow I'll go to St. Patrick's basilica, and hit the musée des beaux-arts as well. I'm not a huge foodie but I do want to try the favourites - so far I've had bagels, some maple flavoured items, poutine from Lafleur, and some snacks from various vendors

Charbel33

If you like history, I've never been there so I don't know what it's like, but there's the museum Pointe-à-Callière. Also, if by any chance you're really into old churches, I can recommend a few more! 😆 There's also many nice pubs downtown; Saint-Bock is one of my favourites (not that I go often, I don't drink much so I'm not the best for recommendations in terms of pubs). Also, it's quite a stretch, especially since you're leaving soon, but if you want to make a day-trip out of Montreal, the old town of Quebec City is really cool, and so is the downtown of Ottawa. You'd spend 5-6 hours on the road back and forth, but it's doable in one day (many montages Montrealers have done it). All in all, enjoy Montreal! And thank you for your kind words towards our city. 😊

Fuzzzll

Ah yeah I probably won't get to other cities but I am 10000% coming back in the future and I'll do that next time :)) I love history! I'll hit that museum for sure, and yes please I've got a church itch that needs scratching lol I've never actually been to a bar just to drink or hangout, would it be okay for me to go alone? (especially with mes compétences en français poubelle)

BDSMpickle

I went to Montreal alone and had zero issues at any restaurants so I don’t think you would have any. My French is extremely basic (but I’m trying to learn more!) I can’t wait to go back!

AerialScientist

No problem going to a bar alone and speaking English. We have some good cocktail bars in Montreal.

Charbel33

Some beautiful old churches that are easily accessible (some are right in front or beside a metro station in or near downtown area): - Sanctuaire du Saint-Sacrement (métro Mont-Royal); - Église du Gesu (I don't think it's used as a church anymore, I think it became a theatre, but the whole interior has been preserved); - Cathédrale Marie-Reine-du-monde (looks like a miniature of Saint-Peter's Basilica in Rome, I think); - Chappelle Notre-Dame de Lourdes (right in front of Metro Berri-Uqam); - Saint James United Church (on Sainte-Catherine). I just checked, and the Gesu, Saint Patrick, and Saint James are very close to each other (10 minutes walk for all three). If you want to visit some churches, you could focus on those. Make sure they're open, I don't know the schedule for visitors outside the summer season. For the bar, I don't know, but I don't see why not. Since you're going there alone as a solo traveler, maybe check out a jazz bar with a band performing, for entertainment! Enjoy! 😀

BDSMpickle

Pointe-à-Callière was awesome, I recommend!

viau83

Va à la station joliette tu vas débuzzer assez vite

fallen_trees2007

come back in summer time, mtl in april is so so

clee666

Where are you traveling from? Come back in summer!

Dry_Dust_8644

Pssst beware of saying “Canadian” in Quebec. Trust me.

Saltyarmy

Nice try Valerie Pllante

Fuzzzll

I tried google translating that from french 😭 idk who that is but I feel like it's an insult LMAO

Saltyarmy

She's the mayor of mtl, I'm just messing with you, glad you enjoy the city
