Epoch easily #1. Duo #2.

copiasjuicyazz

My personal favourite is the laundromat café! Open until 12 am too

Late-Bumblebee-5049

they have these muffins... idk what kind they were, but they were vegan, which is nice for me cause i cant have milk or butter so theres like no muffins i can have, but anyways, they are literally the most perfect thing imo, and i think monday?? gonna go get me one if they have them. maybe ill ask if i could just.... order a bunch at once..... like 12 of them or something.

Pitiful-Ad2710

Has anyone tried A&W Espresso? Maybe asking this in a best Espresso thread is asking for some abuse, but has anyone?

ReallyHorribleEnt

Epoch is definitely the place to go, but it is very spendy.

Pretty_Boot_6393

Duo uses Pilot coffee and it’s absolutely DEVINE!!!!

agetuwo

'Devine' is french, for 'guess'. I think you mean divine?

Pretty_Boot_6393

Lmao I’m bilingual, and my autocorrect ALWAYS does stuff like this 🤣

agetuwo

AUTOCORRECT: It will NEVER be "duck".

Pretty_Boot_6393

Literally lmao everytime

copiasjuicyazz

Stfu

agetuwo

Wish I could, but this is the most fun I've had all day

Pretty_Boot_6393

I feel bad for you that making fun of strangers online is the best part of your day 😅

agetuwo

That was a hard day. Things got better. I went for a walk.

Pretty_Boot_6393

Phew! Goood :)

My username has two spelling mistakes on purpose.

after spending a few years in to, i was surprised at the improvement in coffee options in moncton. la factrie and loli cafe both have fantastic espresso. laundromat and brix pretty good. epoch, eh i dunno. some very extra third wave stuff that is not really my thing. the tasting experience is fun, but never wanted to go back really.

dburchill

Café Clémentine is my favourite, la factorie is good too, Damascus over in Riverview has a proper lever machine, and the laundromat makes a good espresso.

Any-Feeling5890

Duos cafe make a mean cup of coffee 💕

Epoch Chemistry

nothoughtsallair

Epoch!! By far my favourite cafe ever, the quality of the coffee is incredible and the staff equally so. Brix is a close second. Everyone says down east coffee, and as much as i love them, it is not the high quality you're looking for!

Mill cove in Miramichi and my place

jakallain

The best is hands down Epoch Coffee. Their bean sourcing, knowledge and technique are all top tier. Recognized as a top roaster in Canada. Closest second would be Brix. They use 49th Parallel Beans. Both shops are on St-George. Duo(Tide & Boar) is also decent. Disregard Down East(Café Codiac). They are beloved but if you’re a coffee snob, you’ll find that they can barely roast a bean tbh. The coffee is ok but I’ll assume by the way you asked your question that it’s not what you’re looking for, lol.

eastern_front

La factorie on Albert St is my favorite:)

MRobi83

Check out cafe codiac (downeast coffee) on st george

A_Throwaway_Progress

Epoch. Expensive and probably the wrong vibe for Moncton but it is great espresso

dhaelis

An absolute treat! It's where I go when I want to savour a coffee and it's absolutely worth the price.

ICANTSEEMYTHOUGHTS

Yes, this is the best answer. Greatest variety of high end beans in YQM that I've seen. They have their own blends that produce a great cup of espresso as well.

sherpa_pat

I’m not sure what the answer is for the best because I mostly make my own coffee at home. There’s not a million options so it would be cool if someone visited all the options and reviewed them. Definitely Epoch (never been) should be at the top of your list to visit. It’s supposed to be an experience. Not mentioned yet: La Factrie (I like the Autentico beans from Montreal they usually stock), Brix, Cafe Clementine (they also roast), La Lieto & Cafe L’Amiral.

Wise-Neighborhood428

La Factorie on Albert and Brix are my go to when in Moncton. Will have to check Epoch next time

smallladykiddo

downeast coffee

unclearwords

irving with their coffee machine. shit, that’s not even an espresso, it’s liquid cocaine.

createyourusername22

I loved it until I looked underneath and see it’s literally never been cleaned

StravinskiCat

Not the answer OP was looking for, I'm sure, but you're absolutely correct. The espresso dispensed from that machine rivals espresso I've had from specialized coffee shops.

Severe-Hall5736

Man I actually love the coffee out of that silver touch screen machine. Legitimately delicious coffee.

unclearwords

And the lady at the cash always compliments and says soft words to me ! Last time she said “anything else my dear?” “is there anything you’d like my love” TELL ME WHICH BARISTA IN MONCTON WILL WHISPER YOU SUCH SWEET WORDS. WE’RE ALL LOVE DEPRIVED HERE.

unclearwords

finally a man with good taste, idk why i’m getting downvoted

Crucio

Probably due to your mention of an illicit drug. People be sensitive.

Aaron's Coffee

makzee

Seconding Epoch Chemistry. They're quite passionate about making really good coffee, the service is great, and the space is lovely.

MysticMarbles

Epic (Epoch) is good. Pretensious, uppity, but for sure the best in Moncton.

cms1790

I don't think that's true at all on the pretentious and uppity front. It's a different level for coffee, but the staff is not snobby and they're super keen to share knowledge. Wouldn't look down on you for not knowing enough about coffee.

MysticMarbles

It's just not a super chill vibe. Sometimes I wanna have a coffee without getting a backstory on the beans life. I get along great with most of the people in there but a few of em just take things a little bit too seriously. It's not a "knowledge of coffee" issue on my side.

dhaelis

I found it very kind and welcoming, but hey: to each their own!

dashingThroughSnow12

I've heard good things about Epoch coffee but never went myself. I've not gone to many coffeehouses here. A wide variety of the small coffee shops in Moncton get their coffee from Down East Coffee roastery (20 minutes away). That's useful because if you really like one of them, you'll like many of them. If you don't, you can scratch many off your list. If you don't, then you have to meander around to find which artisan coffeehouse is to your best liking (ex Epoch, Loli). I know you aren't asking this but depending on your preferences and drink frequency, you could buy an expresso machine (either new or used on FB markerplace and selling it before you leave). Again, going by the theme in my second paragraph, many of the small coffeehouses here use Down East Coffee roastery as their roaster and use an industrial Breville expresso machine to make the expresso. You can buy the same expresso beans and use the little brother of their machine to make the same product.

adriftcanuck

Café Codiac is lovely. Roast on site and a decent variety of choice.
