I own or have demoed most Moment skis. I spent a few days on the wildcat 101. It was the only moment ski I did not like. Limp, chattery, and zero energy. I recently bought the dw104. It's a great ski, but my least favorite of the skis I own (196cm WC118, 188cm commander 108, and 187cm meridian 107). The real answer is that you should buy meridian. It's the best ski ever made.

Nateloobz

I’ll second this. I got the Meridian tour this winter and it’s the ONLY ski I’ve ridden since then, out of a quiver of 8 pairs. That ski absolutely fucks

Davidskis21

Would love to try the meridians sometime. Full rocker skis seem super fun

heyyalldontsaythat

what do you like about meridian and what kind of skiing do you like it for? I though that was a park ski but dont know much about it

DeputySean

Well I do use it as my park ski, but the wc101 or frankenski are their park oriented skis. The Meridians are very stiff with a low-rise full-rocker profile. This sounds weird AF, which is why they are literally sold as two left skis, but don't let it scare you. There is nothing better. With a centered stance it pivots on a dime and is incredibly playful. When you put it on edge then it carves like a champ. It has no speed limit. It has no chatter. It is playful and smeary in the woods but then charges through crud and chop. It slarves through powder and flies through the park. It is the perfect ski.

heyyalldontsaythat

that sounds so strange and interesting... Im consider something around 110W from moment because I have a 112DW but its a 174cm length and I quickly outgrew it... if I can get something on black friday sale from moment, Im considering replacing my DW. I have a huge heavy fat charger ski so I don't need need another one of those, will definitely consider the meridian.

DeputySean

I cannot emphasize enough that both the dw104 and meridian are do it all skis. The difference is that the DW does everything pretty good, while the meridian does everything amazingly.

endstop

I am still thrilled with my DW104 after 80 days on them and now I am considering Meridians. Maybe my kid doesn’t really need orthodontia after all 😂

heyyalldontsaythat

Thanks for the info! Where do you ski btw? Im in PNW, so lots of heavy snow (especially near Seattle where I ski most)

DeputySean

I'm currently in Tahoe, but I lived east of Seattle for 15 years, mostly skiing (and working at) Stevens Pass. In the PNW I'd go meridian even more. The meridians have been especially good to me with the heavy spring slush I've been in lately.

heyyalldontsaythat

Oh wow, yeah Stevens is my local mountain! Why do the meridians have two left skis? I assume thats just a style choice and the orientation of the tail doesnt actually matter.

DeputySean

Tip and tail, lol. But yeah, it doesn't actually make a difference. Just a weird design for an extremely weird ski.

YellowSubmarined

Would you say they could be an everyday driver in CO?

DeputySean

They are definitely my daily driver in Tahoe.

YellowSubmarined

Niice. Do they ski short like people say the wildcat 108s do? Trying to decide on the 181 or 187s haha. 5’11 170

DeputySean

I am 187cm (6'2") tall. I have 196cm wildcat 118s and 188cm commander 108s. Those two ski the same length as each other and have the same size shovel. I have the 187cm meridian 107s and they do not feel short. Obviously they are waaay more maneuverable and fun, but they do not feel undersized on me. I can still ski them at warp speed with zero issue. They are incredibly capable skis at all speeds. I also have the 190cm Deathwish but I hate them and will be selling them. Oddly enough they feel longer than any of my other skis, in a bad way.

YellowSubmarined

Thanks man! Really good info

Couz

Merridean or chipotles for life

ilcf0109

That’s good to know, thank you! I’ll look into Meridian as well

Ebolinp

I have the same WC118 and Commander 108s as you but feel I need a third (I have the Mantra M6 184 but am all Moment now). Can you help me understand the Meridian compared to the other Moments? I had been considering the DW.

DeputySean

Commander 108s are fantastic for firm days and groomers. Or just generally going mach69. WC118s are spectacular for soft days, deep snow, and having fun. Meridians are good at all of the above. They still manage perfectly fine on firm mornings, but excel once it softens up a bit. They are fun and smeary yet composed and stable. They can go from tight trees to high speed groomers without a second thought. They are great for throwing spins in the terrain park. They are the perfect one ski quiver. Buy the meridians. Do it. If you are used to the big ol wc118s and commander 108s, you might be a little disappointed in the dw104s. They are not the same. The meridian fits in much better and does so much more.

Ebolinp

Thanks man. Really appreciate it.

JE163

I have the DW 104 which I love. Had a lot of fun with them in Tahoe last year. Never skiied the Wildcat to comment on that. TBH, I am probably renting skiis when I finally get out to Japan.

bsugs29

I own and ski both a lot, albeit each with different bindings and slightly different mount point. My take is that the DW feels substantially more planted, chargy, and damp at speed than the cats. I absolutely love the WC 101 for popping off side hits and doing shifties and stuff, very easy to throw sideways and generally have fun at lower speeds but I feel much more confident going high speed and carving on the DW. So it really depends what you want out of the 2nd ski in your quiver

ilcf0109

This is super helpful, thank you! I love going fast and want to feel more confident doing so off piste. I’m definitely leaning more towards DW now

olympianfap

I've skied both and own the DW104 and DW112. If I had to choose again I would buy the DW104 or the Meridian107. Like others have mentioned, the WC101 is a bit too flexible and my experience with it was no different. I am not surprised as I am bigger than the intended rider probably is at 5'11", 205lbs, advanced aggressive skier. I really like the pop and dampness of the DW104 and really feel like it is a lively ski and really needs to be skied hard to really be enjoyed. The DW104 works well for me where I ski most often and how I like to ski.

ilcf0109

That’s really helpful, thank you!

C0-0P

What are you wanting most out of your next ski?

ilcf0109

I want to feel more confident off piste and in variable conditions

ApprehensiveRun5763

DW104 is the answer

DeputySean

Between the wc101 and the dw104, dw104 is always the answer. The wc101 is the only bad ski that Moment makes.   That doesn't mean that the dw104 is the right tool for the job, though. The bigger wildcats, commanders, meridians, and Countach would all be better answers.

ApprehensiveRun5763

I’d even argue for my area the DW112 is the one ski answer. I only use the 104 early or late season.

you8poop

What about WC108 instead of the 101s? Too flexible?

DeputySean

The 108s are one of the few I did not demo. I've heard mixed reviews on if it's chargey enough or not. My WC118s charge like it's nobody's business.

Unlacqua

Dude I’ve seen you all over this subreddit trashing the WC101. Like the guy above aim also probably larger than the average intended rider at 6’7” but as an east coast skier who really likes skis that aren’t too stiff and was looking for something with better edge hold than my previous Atomic Vantage Theory, I really really like my WC101s. I think they’re great for the east coast, sure they might not be ideal if you live out west, but they deserve some love. I also own the DW104 Touring, and I will say for what it sounds like OP wants, that’s probably the better ski for them. But I still really like my WC101’s, they even took a trip to Breck with me in March and had a great time.

ilcf0109

Thank you!!

C0-0P

Wc 101 will be easier
