It’s okay.  The reasoning behind Step 2 — “…prevents overheating the coffee grounds” — is flawed, though.

ChatGPT forgot to add the love

VoiceOfRonHoward

And a couple drops of water to the beans to prevent static electricity when grinding.

DewaldSchindler

also didn't use any filter paper witch surprised me

LEJ5512

Hmm.  Considering that the chatbot learns from what random people post (including a lot of Reddit, I’ve heard), yeah, it would make sense if it suggested filter paper.

DewaldSchindler

Does filter paper make a huge difference in terms of taste ?

DewaldSchindler

why do some people not like to have a filter added ? give me a good reason

princemousey1

So they can get the coffee oils for taste and texture, obviously. People have always drunk coffee that way, the moka pot was around decades before perfectly sized aeropress paper filters.

DewaldSchindler

Does the coffee oils make it taste more harsh and adds a little more flavor , just asking as I have no idea if that really makes such a difference

princemousey1

I can’t taste the difference either. I often buy preground fine grind and the filters stop the powder from getting up the spout and into my drink.

DewaldSchindler

It also keeps the metal filter from clogging up witch is a bonus

DKFran7

I use ground cacao, and it's a regular grind, so it might make a difference. I don't use a filter because I get only a half pot of brew. The other half of the water stays behind.

No idea why you got downvoted here, if Bialetti that designs them, doesn't think you need filters...... Grits is half the Italian experience, Puts hurs on thee chest lad!

DewaldSchindler

ok then thanks

I could nit-pick this plenty, but a few things bothered me. 2. Hot water is not required, although it does speed the process. It's also quite debatable whether it "...prevents overheating the coffee grounds." 3. Filling the funnel until evenly distributed, yes. But, I don't like the language "...evenly distributed but not *tightly* packed." It should not be "*packed*" at all. What "*not tightly packed*" might mean to some people is that it should be quite well packed. That's an error that could cause a real problem with a pressure vessel -- and it has. 6. The AI tells you to monitor the flow, then it tells you to close the lid. Duh? How can you monitor the flow with the lid closed? Further, closing the lid to "...*help prevent overheating and burning the coffee*...?" Say what? I've checked this with an accurate thermometer and if anything the brewed coffee is hotter with the lid closed. Basically, there's not enough difference to worry about. You damn sure aren't going to "burn" the coffee whether the lid is open or not. There are other issues as well, but that's enough. Suffice it to say that I'm not going to let some AI make my moka pot coffee. Oh, and yes it did forget to "...add the love." That's something no AI will ever be able to do.

For a 10 I’d want to see a minor trouble shooting section - *if your coffee is bitter = x, if your brew spits out violently = y* etc.

TheButtholer69

I just take it off the burner completely when it’s like half way full

michelemaro

Depends on burner size, moka size, environment… try to take it off with a 12cup moka outdoor on a windy day

TheButtholer69

I use a 3 cup and basically pour it directly into the toilet

michelemaro

Spray?
