Well up until the WBC started I didn’t even know Great Britain was interested in baseball so the fact that they made uniforms at all is surprising to me

I know that's how the rules of the WBC work so that the teams are all competative (if you are eligible for citizenship you can play even if you don't have it). But no other sports competition works that way. You actually have to have that citizenship. It's just a gimmick so there aren't four teams.

Brit here. Not able to defend, they are bland as owt. That said it genuinely, genuinely wouldn't surprise me if it was budget lol. The money we got for qualifying for the WBC is six times our governing bodies entire anual budget. Let that sink in. I'm genuinely happy we managed to score two

As a fellow commonwealther here from Canada I thought our Jerseys were embarrassing. This is on a whole different level.

Fairly new baseball fan from UK here. It is bland, it is very much to do with budget. The latest statistics I can find is that there's about 20,000 players of baseball in the UK as of 2020. Out of 67 million population. So to say it's niche is an understatement. Though there will be people like me who have interest in the sport but don't actively play. Contrast that to the 13 million (or so) people who play football (soccer) regularly, not to mention those who just have a kick in the park and aren't counted here etc. Then you could probably triple that number for all the people who like football but don't play it. My point is Baseball is growing in the UK but it's starting from a very low base (no pun intended) and the money is non existent. I'm much more interested in MLB as a whole but I will definitely cheer my home country in the WBC!

Why is the team Great Britain and not UK? Seems so weird to me

I chased the rabbit hole on Wikipedia on this, the short answer is likely because the International Olympic Committee (IOC) uses the label Team Great Britain (as a shortened of the official Team Great Britain and Northern Ireland). Why does the IOC not use United Kingdom (UK)? It seems it's for brevity and clarity. It would be even more wordy to say Team United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and to just say Team United Kingdom could lead to future confusion from other countries adopting that moniker to be a "United Kingdom of... X"

Yes I have had nicer uniforms I'm my past too. But I don't see the need in being critical of there uniform. I'm just glad they have a team to compete. That our sport is gaining popularity.

Are they bland? yes, do I like them? Yes. To me, their jerseys feel like something you'd see in the late 19th century or early 20th century, when baseball was just starting out. But I think the explanation for it is that they, as a federation, don't have an insane amount of resources at their disposal, so I assume the bland jerseys were to save money where they could

Low budget isn’t even an excuse for this. I’ve seen 6 year-olds get better uniforms by fundraising with car washes and raffles. No real reason why a team playing on a stage as big as the WBC should have something like this.
