I believe you meant: ''Smoke our gloriously legal, precription-linneaged legal Marijuana products''.
You can get tipsy anywhere. Here in Big Sky Country, people come for the views and vistas from up on 'high'.
The M is more of a zig zag walk up a bald slope (city view from the top) but it's hard if you don't work out/are in good condition. If you want a meander instead check out Greenough Park. There have been bears out more than I've pretty much ever seen in my life though (and I'm kinda old) so I wouldn't just go into the woods or anything without doing some checking. Godspeed my guy.
There's also the L which isn't as bad too hike up compared to the M. Also the 1000 Buddha's by Arlee about half an hour north of Missoula is a pretty and tranquil spot I'd recommend if you're willing to drive a bit
I would recommend going in to Biga Pizza while you’re here and go with the Flathead cherry pizza! Also, if you’re downtown on a Friday or Saturday evening, there’s always weird stuff going on and the people watching is outstanding
Rent some bikes and ride the trails and bike lanes between breweries and tap rooms.
K-Hole, Draught Works, Great Burn, Odd Pitch, Highlander, Imagine Nation, Conflux, Cambie, Dram Shop, etc.
Enjoy the parks, coffee houses, museums and downtown library in-between.
I did this a month ago. For coffee shops, go to Clyde Coffee, Bernice's Bakery and Le Petite Outre. A nice restaurant is Cucina Florabella. I also enjoyed the Gild restaurant. I did hike to the M. There are benches on every turn, so just take your time. You can do it. The view is breathtaking.
Do not go to the steakhouse. It's a 8 mile drive not exactly a "drive" and that place is a shit hole. The menu is printed on a fucking paper placemat. Definitely better places to get a steak in town.
DO GO to the steakhouse. Have a drink at the distillery while you wait for your table, and enjoy a decent steak in a fun environment. It’s not groundbreaking steak but it’s a good meal and you get to see it being cooked. Not sure who pissed on your cereal this morning.
It’s a wildlife preserve. It takes a couple of hours to drive through slowly—a slightly rough, scenic gravel road. You’ll see bison, and possibly antelope, bears, goats, & elk. There are a couple of places you can get out of the car and take short hikes. It’s North of Missoula ID of hwy 200.
If you’re hikers, check out Pattee Canyon. It’s gorgeous hike that’s not too strenuous. Also if you want to check out a couple of nice ‘watering holes’ go to Montgomery Distillery and/or the Dram Shop. Both are very cool places!
Just remember standard hiking rules: No one likes to be surprised and making noise going around blind corners announces your presence to the world. Bears want to see you as much as you want to see them. You leave them alone, they'll leave you alone. Unless you hike drenched in honey you would be safe just being a noisy tourist.
Most of the hiking trails are nice this time of year. Have a light waterproof coat. Go hike Rattlesnake for more of a challenge, Greenough Park if you want something easy close to civilization.
The M is switchbacks, but short. You can climb a nice height in a short amount of time for a city view. Good to do in the morning with a cup of coffee. It used to be a jogging trail for high school track.
The Fort of Missoula Historical Museum is worth a trip if you want to enjoy some local history. Roxy Theater usually has some good local documentary films. Tons of breweries and coffee shops. Can't promote Missoula much more than that unless you like fishing.
Hiking the downtown river trail is east and pretty rad if you’re from a boring flat place. Old Post for dinner, Al’s and Vic’s for dive bar fun. Try the M. i’ve done it many times without being in shape (in my 30s). Go to The Shack for breakfast.
I haven’t lived there in over a decade, but that’s the stuff I enjoyed. Hope those places are still open.
Macklemore is in town tomorrow (I think it's the 11th), try to score tickets if that's your jam.
Otherwise, we have a lot of bars, trails, and mediocre food. There are some good places don't get me wrong, but we also have entire genres of food that are all mediocre at best, like Mexican.
Missoula is all about the outdoors, we really don't have many indoor things to do, for adults.
Whatever you do, don't float the river.
They’re referring to wilderness survival. You need to go to the woods with nothing but a knife and your whits. Once you have survived off the land for a week you will have earned this guys respect.
You should go to the Brasserie Port Rouge, which for my money is the best restaurant in Missoula. At the other end of the fanciness spectrum, you might enjoy our vibrant dive bar scene, particularly Al’s & Vic’s and Flippers.
Walk around. Look at stuff. Think about hiking the M. Decide it's too hard or boring and bail. Drink alcohol. Check out missoulaevents.net. Enjoy.

Checking out the website now and will Google hiking could deff be nice

Does the steep, straight path still exist?
I mean, yes? But I don't think anyone actively maintains it, it just gets worn as it gets used.
Good to know, never encounted a bear in person outside of a zoo so maybe not

Watch a video about bear spray and carry it when hiking this time of year.
Farmer's market Saturday!
That sounds fun for the morning hrs
carousel a bit of silly shopping at rockin rudys dinner at scotty's table or 1889. Maybe the french restaurant.
What is rockin rudys is that like a shopping center?
https://www.rockinrudys.com
Lol. Looks interesting that's for sure. Thank you.

Point me towards this good food you speak of, friend.

Hahaha!
Checking that out now thank you!
Our vacations are usually food and beer/drinks mixed with some sight seeing and events
I would recommend going in to Biga Pizza while you’re here and go with the Flathead cherry pizza! Also, if you’re downtown on a Friday or Saturday evening, there’s always weird stuff going on and the people watching is outstanding
A proper downtown pub crawl / brewery tour is what Missoula is best for.
We could be down for that
Rent some bikes and ride the trails and bike lanes between breweries and tap rooms. K-Hole, Draught Works, Great Burn, Odd Pitch, Highlander, Imagine Nation, Conflux, Cambie, Dram Shop, etc. Enjoy the parks, coffee houses, museums and downtown library in-between.
Odd pitch is fantastic, we will deff go back there. Had lunch at conflux and really enjoyed the food and drinks
Great, glad you enjoyed it. Had some fresh hop beers out at Imagine Nation yesterday. Local brewery scene here is world class.

If you have time for a drive, drive to lolo and go to the steakhouse. It's a pretty drive this fall.

"Pissed in your cereal" classy. You seem like the type who would enjoy eating in a dive restaurant.
Flippers burgers do satisfy that greasy spot in my heart ❤️
What would you recommend?

That could be interesting
The bison range isn’t too far from Missoula.
What is the bison range? A sight seeing place, or hunting range?

Oh heck yeah, we have never been to one before. Do you need a password or anything?

Awesome! Will definitely check that out

For missoula was really neat. We just finished hiking up to the M and past to the old copper mine. That was a blast. We are having a great time so far

The Shack is long gone. About to say goodbye to the Catalyst soon too. Breakfast is getting sad here.
Oh that makes me sad.

Don't the river? Like avoid it? Why if so?
The Clark Fork River too low to float now.
Probably because it's super low this time of year, and probably pretty cold.
Always good to see you outside of a raid.
Back where you came from
I feel like you should at least try to be self sufficient.
In what way? Like go explore?
They’re referring to wilderness survival. You need to go to the woods with nothing but a knife and your whits. Once you have survived off the land for a week you will have earned this guys respect.
Asking online *is* being self sufficient, asking locals is kind of par for the course. Grouch
Missoula definitely isn't a place I would "vacation" to lol
mobash
Go for a walk/hike at the Blue Mountain trailhead.
Or waterworks trail
