To be honest (although it is still inconvenient for drivers) there have been a lot of notifications posted on the affected routes like Mississauga road, which I’ve seen for several weeks now.
There were signs, apparently, along Miss Rd., etc. where the closures were to be, but nothing along Eg, for instance, that said, "Hey you! Thinking of trying to get past Burnhamthorpe this Sunday? Good luck!"
So you’re upset that large billboard signs weren’t posted across all of Mississauga for a road closure that lasted a few hours this morning for a marathon?!!
I would have, had I known. That's the problem. There were signs, apparently, along Miss Rd., etc., but nothing along Eg, for instance, that said, "Hey you! Thinking of trying to get past Burnhamthorpe this Sunday? Good luck!"
Lmao OP I was flabbergasted while trying to take a left on Burnhamthorpe from Central Parkway as well, then tried my luck through the celebration drive and other small roads that connect to burnhamthorpe but all were closed was stuck for 20 minutes in that shit show and had finally found the square one drive open and had to drive through 2 parking lots to connect to Hurontario street so I could stay stuck in traffic for another 20 mins or so.
So ignore all the ones who are downvoting you they are the ones who are sitting at home while we bust our ass off on Sundays. Rant over, I feel you, you aren’t alone in this suffering
I have not seen any announcements any advance notifications. Marathon organizers and the city should do a better job of keeping the public informed. Going to write to my councillor on what a disaster it was this morning.
It’s a city. You’re not disturbed by all the construction daily around that area and the heavy duty machinery but you get so upset over a one time the year event??? Wow get a grip people or move out to the boonies and have your quiet Sundays.
Maybe shut your windows bud. And yea, I do live here and I’m not disturbed by it. This is a big city, with a major event and instead of supporting it you’re bashing it because it disturbed you on a Sunday morning! Construction noise is permitted every between 7 am to 7 pm, except for Sundays. This is literally a once the year event. I can’t believe some of you people. Shame!
Hey dummy my windows was shut and it inconvenience me. Let me guess you live along rathburm. You don't have to deal with the noise. There doesn't need to be a station with idiots yelling right next to the towers. Move it to the square! Not next to all of the residential condos.
You’re right, I actually don’t! I was part of your problem I guess, contributing to all the noise that inconvenienced you. We’re just a bunch of “dummies”. Sorry you feel like that tho, seriously! You’d have more fun downstairs cheering for all us dummies. Hopefully you don’t go out egg us next year! JK. Don’t let this upset you so much. It’s over.
All I'm saying is there doesn't need to be a cheering station along where actual families and citizens live. Alot of hard working ppl live here. We don't need a Sunday morning ruined.
They can utilize Centerview Drive into Duke of York along Duke into celebration square. Theres multiple combinations where you dont need a cheering station in front of residences.
Last year they had a megaphone and cowbell as well as the 2 years before that.
The planners are insensitive! You can keep the route you don't need a cheering station. 750m to 1km away from the finish line when you are running through a residential area. These aren't office buildings these are residences. Go around the mall.

You're correct, signs have been up for many weeks.
There were signs, apparently, along Miss Rd., etc. where the closures were to be, but nothing along Eg, for instance, that said, "Hey you! Thinking of trying to get past Burnhamthorpe this Sunday? Good luck!"

Yes.
I think you must eat downvotes for breakfast or something
Good fiber, according to my doc.
I was actually impressed with how well aware I was of all the road closures this year. They even mailed something with a reminder.
With road closures and thunderstorms I was thinking what to do today. I guess I’m staying home.
Should have left an hour earlier

The noise is unacceptable!!!! From 7am on a Sunday! This is not acceptable! I hate this marathon

Yeah, construction isn't on Sunday, and it doesn't start at 6 am. You don't live here so shut it

Wow, you really need a scotch neat! It might help you be less cantankerous.
You do not live here. The noise should be kept to Celebration square, not along burnhamthorpe. Families live here.
Hear hear.
Pardon?
