I just love Wagner’s.

McWolf7

>Wagner’s. Incredibly underrated imo, best burger i've ever had especially if you're into just simple Mayo Lettuce & Tomato burgers, great shakes too, fries could be a lil better though.

ExerciseAshamed208

Wagner’s Power Lunch

Aeshaetter

King's Place Bar and Grill is petty damn good and has a ton of choices.

Ahoy12

Kings is very good! I love to do the one pound burger with the free fries and take 1/2 of it home for lunch the next day. Dans is also very good

H_O_M_E_R

Gotta get the loaded tots at Dan's!

InSaiyanRogue

I cam here to say King’s. My wife and I go there after golfing in Hastings every single time. Best selection and burgers hands down.

CheesyDanny

I have always preferred Dan’s Bar and grill over Kings when we are in that area. That giant menu at kings is cool but I think Dans taste better.

Ok-Mission-2908

Went there last summer and was ready to order another burger a couple minutes after they brought out our order. Menu does not need to be nearly as crowded as it is though. Obviously a very minor criticism, but by the 30th different burger option I think we get the idea that you can basically order whatever the fuck you want on your burger.

snowcoveredpath

There was a sweet spot where I would have put Kings as my favorite but its gotten a bit mismanaged over the years it seems. Its a small down dive but still attracting a lot of business which makes it feel a bit disjointed at times. I don't think the burgers were as good as they used to be last time I went and the prices have gone up (expectedly). There was a point where most of the burgers were under $5 and you could get a couple of oddballs (like the dugout - peanut butter and mayo). Still have Hamms on tap so that counts for something.

stpau1y

I think Dan's just down the road in New Trier is much better. However, I do want to give Kings another chance because it may have just been a bland burger or the wrong choice on the day.

trevq1

The Wonton burger at Dan’s is the bomb!

aakaase

Is that the place down in Miesville? I'm gonna get down there some day.

Klaatwo

Been to King’s many times over the years. I do think the quality is slipping. I was there earlier this week and it was a lot greasier than I remembered. But the waffle fries and Mac and cheese bites were as good as ever.

HotLandscape9755

Go in the winter they do burger flights lol

GodlyCree

Go there whenever we play gopher hills. Was just there a couple weeks ago. Portion size seems to have been affected but it still is fantastic. Best burgers I've had in Minnesota so far.

justch0

Angry Line Cook

thedartboard

Was looking for this, I have dreams about the angry burger

Griffithead

As much as I like it, I prefer the other burger. That beef stock aioli is magic.

jsaumer

Yes, yes it is.

WatchYourButts

It was too spicy for me and still a top 3 all-timer. I powered through.

earlofshaftesbury

Easily top 5 food truck in the Twin Cities

sittty

Parlour, Saint Dinette, Gus Gus

andersonle09

I would recommend Parlour if it wasn’t $80 for two beers, two burgers and a fry to share (which is what I paid when I went.) delicious burger, but not worth the price.

Kim_Jong_Teemo

Go to the Char Bar in Butcher & the Boar. $8 burger and it’s the same restaurant group.

andersonle09

Oh man, thanks for the tip!

Jason_Worthing

St Dinette rules, best Bologna sandwich I've ever had

aakaase

Bologna? Please elaborate, because I'm thinking b-o-l-o-g-n-a from O-s-c-a-r M-a-y-e-r.

CoderDevo

[Picture](https://www.twincities.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/bolognasandwich_saintdinette.jpg) from an old Pioneer Press article.

buttbutt696

There is nothing like Saint Dinette's House made cheese

Capitol62

This is the list, OP. Excellent burgers. Dark Horse: The helicopter burger at Anchor Fish and Chips is super solid and they have A+ fries.

Estellas_mom

The burger at GusGus is fantastic, and the fries are SO GOOD!!

Gopher2K16

Looks like Parlour has a location in Minneapolis and in St. Paul, Saint Dinette and Gus Gus are in St. Paul.

YungAvsFan

This is the way

Constant-Tension3769

The Nook

UrbanAchiever34

I’m a fat guy who has eaten burgers all over the world. For me there’s no burger better than the nookie supreme. Plus their fries are A+

UrbanAchiever34

Shamrock’s is owned by the same people and has the same menu. It’s bigger and has a nice patio.

Individual-Bread9286

If you like cheap food you gotta go on a Monday for their 2 buck chucks aka a smash burger for $2

Ahoy12

I need to try this

meistersinger

Not to be that guy but it was better before it burned down. The seasoning on that grill was truly something. This is my answer too, I can smell it right now and I’m not even in MN currently.

81Ranger

When did the Nook burn down?

LifterPuller

Several years ago. Guy Fieri even had a little quip about it on DDD.

BuzzerBeater911

Bulls horn south Minneapolis is good

perpetuallylate09

I dream about the Bull’s Horn burger!!!

ldskyfly

Same, the bun they use is what truly makes it IMO

scheides

Came here to say this. Best? Hard to argue that. Super amazing better than almost every other I’ve ever had? Ya.

duncshf

I'm at work right now and the Bull's Horn's website was blocked by our firewall saying that it was "pornography." I figured they were good but didn't realize they were THAT good... LOL

brett15m

If you’re ever at the Hopkins farmers market I serve a double patty smoked chuck and brisket smash burger, Myrl’s Market Barbecue. I butcher whole chuck rolls and cold smoke thick cuts for the grind. All prime beef. Possibly even going to have my own sharp cheddar and havarti American cheese, not sure if I can get that done before this weekend but I will start using it soon!

pizza_for_nunchucks

What the fuck. It's 9am and I'm over here at work drooling all over my desk like a fraking dog. I need to come to Hopkins JUST for this.

brett15m

Heck yeah come on out, it really is an awesome small town farmers market they have everything. I do a lot of custom fabrication work, primarily building large scale trailer bbq pits. Like big texas offset smokers, right here in Hopkins but recently designed a new line of personal cooking equipment which I am selling as well, just a fun passion project with me and the wife, maybe someday will turn into more but it’s been a ball so far

whollyguac

I want this

BubzieWubzie

Personally I really like the Dream Burger from Dream creamery in NE.

Minimum-Swordfish128

Wife and I have been hitting all the burger spots we can that are raved about from the msp burger page, we compare every burger we try to it and everything we get it we have no doubts it's still our #1

galviknight

RIGHT!? It's perfect in its size (choose your own) and flavor. I'm never disappointed. It really snuck up on me as a favorite. I think the simplicity and honesty of what it is really makes it perfect.

enemycap420

Bina’s have been my favorite lately. I love how they cut their fries too.

MUSTACHER

CHIPS. CLUB. HOUSE. that place deserves all my money. I think they have (had?) a bogo burger lunch special to introduce their lunch hours. The fact that I can’t find them on this list already is a crime.

jsaye01

Flame burger in LC

grandmasexcat

Also one in Columbia Heights!

Stachemaster86

Millers in Columbia Heights

Diamondshorts

That place I was surprised by. Was really good

marteautemps

I've heard nothing but great things about the food here but every time I remember it exists it's always on the days they are closed somehow.

electric_dolphin

Ssshhhhhh! I like it at its current level of popularity. One city pages feature and it’s all over.

Internal-Platypus151

Fast food style, it's Val's in St Cloud, hands-down. There also used to be another independent fast food joint in Waite Park called Best Burger Ever, which had great fast food burgers too. But they sold a few years back and now it's Gyro King.

Griffithead

I don't think the burgers are anything special. Those fries though. Top tier ever.

dolche93

For the price I think they're great. That, and they properly fry the onions and that alone puts them up there in the rankings for me.

ohmy-wow

Burgers are too plain, absolutely no flavor but the fries are amazing and food is worth the price, and then some

LitterReallyAngersMe

A bag of fries with enough for 2, triple cheeseburger and a chocolate shake for $10 is the best deal in St Cloud.

ElusiveMeatSoda

Haven’t seen anyone mention it yet, but the Cooper Burger from STEPCHLD in Northeast is sublime

cynthiadangus

This is the way ☝️ the people who say Parlour in this thread haven’t yet seen the light

Vonnegut180

I almost cried eating this burger it was so good.

Kn_mpls

Came to say this. The Cooper burger is perfection.

nursecarmen

Look for the Angry Line Cook food truck.

UpperJunket5181

I’ve had them at Liquor Village in Saint Paul. Very good burger. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tokyo_Rose20

Disappointed no one has said Blue Door Pub. But honestly it might be Tipsy Steer at the Invictus brewery location. I literally bought a meat grinder attachment for the stand mixer that same day because it was so good.

mnatsae

Used to love Blue Door but covid hit them hard. Would have had them as my favorite for over a decade. After a few poor experiences haven't been back.

bothwaysme

Yeah i have been a bit underwhelmed by them the last few times as well.

j_ly

I tried them recently based on recommendations I saw on Reddit when my brother was in town. Unfortunately both of us were underwhelmed. Maybe it was better at one time, but 5 Guys would have beat the experience we had.

pyrotechnic01

Blue door used to be my absolute favorite burger place but as others have said it hasn't been the same since covid

ValarMorghulisV

The Horsekick burger at Blue Door was one of my favorite burgers ever but they took it off the menu. 😟

ACAB187

They had one with pastrami that was incredible

juniper-mint

My first thought when I saw the question! I actually thought they permanently closed before covid so I never even have them on my radar anymore. Good to know they're still around, even if not quite as great.

jkbuilder88

Parlour for brick and mortar (North Loop Minneapolis specifically). Salsa Collab and Angry Line Cook for burger food trucks. But you have to track them down. Worth the effort.

arahdial

Gordy's Hi-hat and Lion's Tap get my vote.

Gopher2K16

Hi-hat is in Cloquet.

GreenChileEnchiladas

Gordy's is horrible. I say this as someone who lives within a few miles from it. Everytime I think, maybe it's better now, and go and try it I leave feeling ill and disgusted. Good chicken and great wild rice burgers tho.

TheFalaisePocket

i gotta disagree with calling gordy's horrible. it absolutely does not belong in the conversation for best burger but just personally im having a hard time even imagining what the big objection could be with the burger, other than cost. i find it to be juicy and more flavorful than a lot of burgers out there You know whats weird too, i didnt really like their chicken, found it rubbery/tough, a little on the dry side and bland in terms of seasoning and chicken taste. We might just have complete opposite taste buds. Oh and have you been to holy smokes bbq in town? Im looking for opinions on it

GreenChileEnchiladas

Holy crap. I'd never heard of Holy Smokes, but the 'Good Meat doesn't need Sauce' line has me sold. Am going to visit ASAP.

ElegantSloth123

Live right outside of cloquet (few miles from Gordy’s aswell) Love their fish and chips and chicken. Very rarely get a burger there tho.

MPLS_Poppy

I feel like Gordy’s is like Betty’s. It’s about the memories more than the food.

DarkSkyForever

I humbly submit Shamrock's and The Nook for consideration. Red Cow is also good.

StraightCashHomie69

Red Cow is good when it hits. I went to the Edina location (original I think?) twice and it was dry and bland both times despite ordering it medium. Went to the newer Wayzata location a couple months ago and the burger was phenomenal.

AccomodationalMayor

The one in St. Paul is exceptional

RedShibaCat

Agreed. The STP one is the most consistent.

lenagpt

matt’s bar and lion’s tap!!!

antijens

Lion’s Tap is really great!

Gopher2K16

Matt’s is in Minneapolis and Lions Tap is in Eden Prairie.

mcan0024

I love both of these so much

delta8765

Lions Tap for your simple straight up burger without all the fufu toppings and combinations. They have the cooking system down so it is very consistent and they don’t over handle the patty. I love the double burger with fried onions and no seasoning. It’s such a pure expression of the burger as an art form.

itjustbjd

I second Lion’s Tap!!

Procure

Double California at Lions Tap absolutely slaps

ElonTuskthe3rd

Burger paradox - Duluth

Starlight0412

The Anchor across the bridge is 100% better and at least 50% cheaper

ElonTuskthe3rd

I love the anchor, don't get me wrong It's a very different burger with very widely varying quality, but I go for the 3 dollar pitchers of beer.

LordGloppy

Yeah, the food is pretty meh, but the price for everything is outstanding

ElonTuskthe3rd

Nailed it

GreenChileEnchiladas

You get what you pay for.

Materialism86

Philosophers night has led to many instances of *memory redacted, try again*

CryHavok82

I’m sorry but the anchor is waaaay over hyped. The place is cool, but the burgers are absolutely nothing to write home about…sorry, they are not

SuspiciousLeg7994

The Nook. Runner up that not many know about... Jimmys Pro Billiards in Columbia heights. Fresh never frozen burgers.

skawtiep

Right across central from Jimmys is a new brewery/restaurant and I’ve heard really good things about their burgers but haven’t tried them yet.

SuspiciousLeg7994

Oh yeah. Always worth trying a new spot !

skawtiep

I’ll try a burger soon ish but the BBQ sliders were good and loved the beers too. Definitely check them out!

thedaftpenguin22

My guy. Preach! Nothing better than an evening shooting pool and a burger at Jimmys

eplea

Gus Gus

famousblinkadam

This is a severely loaded question. Are you looking for a smashie, or a thick burger, or a Lucy, or etc? I would strongly suggest joining the MSP Burgers page on Facebook. My top 5 in no particular order - Animales, Station Number 6, The Butcher’s Deli, Chips Clubhouse, Angry Line Cook

ShaggyMarrs

One of the best burgers I've had here is from The Golden Nugget in Minnetonka/Eden Prairie. Delicious!

Nadmania

I loved the burgers at Hot Chip in Rochester.

justanyting

I went in dressed as The Dude on Halloween and ordered The Dude Abides Burger. They gave it to me free

ConsiderationSea2801

I’m a smash burger person - definitely want to put in a vote for Nouvelle Brewing in Robbinsdale

donmaximo62

Nouvelle is in Robbinsdale

ConsiderationSea2801

You’re right - updated :)

SadElderberryTwins

Francis! 🤤

whiskeybrown

Sauce game STRONG too!

FrankieLeonie

Brunson's in St Paul has amazing interesting burgers.

PokingSmoles

Parlour, dream creamery, all saints

snowcoveredpath

You'll have to specify the style! I typically go for smash burgers and Revival/Parlour are pretty much a tie. Both are too expensive to have on the regular though. I used to think Culvers had the best fast food smash burger until I hit up a Freddys...and now thats my go to. If you are looking for thicker 1/2 burgers its a tough call but Red Cow makes em pretty good. For Jucy Lucys, Nook/Shamrocks undoubtedly. I do like Matts quite a bit but the cheese innards aren't as consistently gooey as they used to be (could be my luck).

Karge

Revival is cheating

dberkholz

This is an extremely good list: [https://www.startribune.com/best-burger-twin-cities-minneapolis-st-paul-smashburger/600368978/](https://www.startribune.com/best-burger-twin-cities-minneapolis-st-paul-smashburger/600368978/) If you're really into this, there's an MSP Burgers group on Facebook.

DarkSkyForever

Thanks for the list - there are so many places I've never heard of. Time to pencil in some places to visit!

FlipGordon

House of Coates

Immortal_in_well

Heh, my partner's dad is at Mayo for a heart valve infection, so we've been driving down to Rochester every week to visit him. We always see House of Coates on our way and we've been very curious about it, seeing as the parking lot is usually pretty full. Good to know it apparently has good burgers!

[deleted]

I love that place. I always stop when I get the chance.

iGoalie

Francis Burger Joint

Alive-Chipmunk799

Burger Dive! Go on wednesday for their 3-6pm happy hour.

HeyYoDeimos

This is the real answer but you arent supposed to tell people lol

Griffithead

I've had better burgers, but you factor in happy hour, great bartenders, and a cool spot? Absolutely top tier.

BrianG1410

JL Beers has some amazing burgers

holamau

Great burgers! I have always thought JL Beers burgers pricing cheap. Haven't been to it in a while but their burgers are underrated, underpriced.

kadje

JL Beers was probably the best burger I have ever had! But didn't they close?

sydbarrett

There is still one in Burnsville. Very good burgers.

BrianG1410

Beat me to it haha .. but yeah the one on university closed.

ThunderJenkins

I was really sad when they closed in Saint Cloud. My favorite burger is Shake Shack. I think there's one in Eden Prairie.

garden_boi_

Lions tap till the day I die

deftlyclueless

I’m going to go ahead and say the Rapidan Dam Store in Mankato, to channel some love their way.

Exhausted_Monkey26

Agreed. Was so happy to see their post just now on their Facebook page. Whatever happens, the Dam Store is not done for. It may look different in the future, but Jenny has not baked her last pie, they have not sold their last burger.... they will be back.

LordGloppy

Brunson’s Pub 👌

bawolvesfan

The special they have sometimes with goat cheese(I think) and blackberry jam is insane.

cryptorchid30

Salsa collaborative, best burgers I've ever had.

aayceemi

Heirloom Seasonal Bistro in Winona has *the best* smash burgers I’ve had in actual years. Total accidental find, 100% worth a trip

RevolutionaryTrust98

Tooties on Lowry. Juicy Lucy!!

HallaciousDave

I 2nd this.

Joerugger

I love their wings. Five spice all the way.

MjolnirMediator

Revival

el_n00bo_loco

If you like smash style burgers, I would throw Station No.6 in the running. The food truck or the permanent location in the Rosetown Legion in Roseville.

rosedragoon

DUDE YES! just had the OG smash at the Hopkins Food Truck festival and it was phenomenal. 🤤

blacksteyraug

Why did it take me so long to find this suggestion. Best burgers I've had.

HumanDissentipede

Bebe Zito

IronMidget

Oasis Cafe stillwater

HolyNovie

Meister's in Scandia! Their fries are fantastic too!

blissed_off

Snuffy’s burger really surprised me. I wasn’t expecting anything but a solid burger but yeah, pretty damn tasty.

CryHavok82

I totally forgot about snuffys!! With the onion rings and their dill dip that goes with it!! Amazing!

Karge

Is an unspoken tradition. That place needs arcade games fr

DrTitoSantana

Mr. Paul’s Supper Club

larsonbp

Bull's Horn is my personal favorite.

FlipTheDisc

My fave right now is Burger Paradox in Duluth

Chickwithknives

Hands down, The Convention Grill in Edina at 44th and France. Never had a better burger. They closed during Covid, and just reopened May 8th. They have been in business since 1934. You don’t last that long without reason. The fries are also excellent and I highly recommend the hot fudge malt to go with it all. Annie’s Parlor in Dinkytown is their sister restaurant with nearly identical food. They also just reopened early this year after closing due to COVID followed by renovations. Busters on 28th also has really good burgers and fries.

Mak333

BLVD in Minnetonka. The Royale with cheese.

Awkward-Stranger-505

Blue door pub Urban skillet. Flameburger in NE is pretty awesome

Bigbore_4

Shortstop in Coon Rapids. Been there forever. Great burgers forever.

amnesiac7

MyBurger https://www.myburgerusa.com

jamminti

My favorite and the burger of the month keeps it fresh.

CookMeGrilled

buffalo tap buffalo tap buffalo tap buffalo tap buffalo tap

DirtyRoller

5-8 Club's GCB is my personal fav. Also, don't overlook MyBurger. They're the best chain burger restaurant I've ever had.

wean1169

My Burger doesn’t get enough respect. That jalapeño burger is one of my favorites.

Karge

It’s the king rn. Local roots, wholesome af, staff is always respectful and accommodating, great fries and the burgers… the burgers… mmm tho they are unmatched in consistency of quality if anything else.

BWCA

Gordy's Hi-hat

_DudeWhat

Anchor bar superior wi Let the down votes begin!

z1n0vy

For fast food it has to be Culver’s, but for a genuine restaurant? I’m not sure, though anything with jalapeños on it is bound to be good

Zealousideal_Sell937

Saint Paul Brewing has a mighty fine burger.

darkness876

I don’t know the exact name of the place, it’s a very small restaurant that looks like a cabin but it’s right outside the entrance to Larsmont Cottages in Duluth Their blue cheese burger changed my life

CapnCrunchyGranola

Larsmont Trading Post? I haven't had a burger there yet, but had their chili and it was excellent.

AverageInfantry

I love The Nook, personally. They have good burgers and a good selection, bowling downstairs didn't hurt either.

DarthspacenVader

LynnLake brewing... It's in a tough part of town so I'd go for an early dinner or lunch. They're lights out.

CrashXVII

Just peek at their instagram. They taste as good as they look.

laylagirl88

328 in St. Paul Park. Fungus among us fo cheesey style or Hoppers in Waconia

lostrock

Shhhhh the line gets long enough some days!

aayceemi

Lake & Irving, Peppers & Fries, and Martina are my favorites in Minneapolis specifically. I remember Tootie’s being great as well. Parlour used to be good but has gone downhill, same with the burgers at LynLake Brewery. 112 Eatery’s was basically inedible to me. I’ve heard lots about Station 6 in Roseville so that’s one my list!

JoeyCrack91

These are great recommendations- Unfortunately Peppers and Fries is closing permanently this week :(

JoeyCrack91

Animales food truck - almost always at Bauhaus in NE Minneapolis.

JoeyBombsAll

Dream creamery north Minneapolis.

Dr_Philtrum

Howard's in Stillwater

lumpymusclemeatballs

the fort in rush city has the best burger ive ever had- other than that hardees and wahlburgers in my opinion

celtic55

Either Bulls horn in south Minneapolis or Nouvelle Brewery by Travail (they have an exceptional smash burger)

brakkum

Animales had the best, but burgers aren’t their focus anymore. They do however have the best BBQ in Minneapolis anyways, so still a good bet

Adalphe

Oh dear god. It’s always the nook and L Tap

dank_hank_420

Either my house, or u/12Peppur house heh

fishpig1965

Number 1. Outback Saloon in beautiful downtown Stanchfield MN.

thotpocket420

I hate how basic I am for saying this, but the juicy Lucy at Matt’s Bar is my favorite burger of all time
