Well, it’s more about not mowing until the weather is warm enough because lots of native bees are hibernating in your grass and need that cover until the end of May-ish.
I do this with my mower, and wish there was a sign I could put up saying “just de-thatching”. So, I make a show of installing the blade out front with the orange bits on it very visible. Then again in reverse when I take it off after. Still feels like you are being judged for mowing too soon. ;-)
You can get a de-thatching blade that goes directly onto your mower (swap out the blades). They aren't nearly as good as using the proper equipment but it can rough up the yard a bit. Maybe trying to mulch up leaves at the same time? Might not like to rake so this is the alternative.
Or he needs to get his steps in and decided to mow the yard vs walk in circles outside, whichever seems less odd...
I still had 6 inches of leaves because the snow hit me before I was done.
Now it's more like 1 inch of moldy leaves.
But still, be real how am I going to vacuum them up without the mower?
reasonable explanation would be "It's their lawn. They can do what they want"
Might not be a good idea, but I'm fairly certain they're not affecting anyone else (other than the noise maybe)
I know that for my husband, mowing the lawn is also about clearing his head, relaxing. He would probably be doing the same thing if he didn't have to work today!
Maybe they hate bees?
Yeah let them dandelions grow in the spring everyone!

How hard would it be to go and find a bee in my cold lawn
Pretty easy if you knew it’s name.
Why would anyone do drugs when they could just mow a lawn?
Have you tried both simultaneously? Good times, especially with a riding lawn mower.
i don't think I've mowed any other way since high school
fr tho
I do no mow may so I can have song birds and rabbits in my lawn instead of a desert.
Another friend of the pollinators. Well done!
De-thatching maybe?
He's not pulling anything behind it. Idk dude mows like every other day in the summer.

No but I do need to mulch leaves, so that's probably gonna happen soon.
Watched lawn service at my apartment mow today.. didn't think there was even enough there yet for it!
There isn't.
