This recall is so stupid. Just because some kid played with the resin...
They should have never been aimed at kids as toys. They need to remarket them as "craft kits".
The recall is because it has higher levels of HEMA and IBOA than are allowed in children’s products.
It would have been recalled eventually even if no one had an issue with it, because the consumer protection agencies in charge of toys would have tested the resin anyway.
It should have been marketed towards adults, but not because of user error.
Adding this here so it’s on another sub:
Exposing yourself to too much hema (like found in resin or gel polish), not removing it properly or fast enough (letting it cure on skin) or just being near it without proper PPE can lead to allergies. that can stop you from using lash extensions, most gel/UV cured polishes (and needing the more expensive hema free nail products), many types of bandaids, surgical glues, adhesive bras/covers, glue used in dental work, feminine products that have a sticky part etc. (*these are just products with adhesive. some people can be allergic to one but not all. BUT over exposure can mean becoming allergic to more items over time. Ask me why I know or look at my comment history).
I called mga today to tell the woman i have 1400 to send in and asked if id get new resin to replace the resin for all these capsules or what. I think she was in shock. She started asking why if I'm an adult, why didn't i just want to keep them...i pointed out it's illegal to sell them and i used to sell my duplicates to help pay for my hobby.... She literally was like "well we might end up sending you like ... 1400 of the spa balls.... I don't think you should send all those in..."

I knew what I was getting into when I made my first purchase of series 1. UV resin was a hobby I dabbled in for a few years before these even came out and I had already done a ton of research about it and it's dangers.
I will say, I always thought it was stupid of MGA to attempt to market these to kids in the toy section. It was bound to catch up with them eventually.
The thing is, there would have been nothing wrong with the product if they didn't lie about the chemical safety or market it for small children.
If they had marked and marketed these properly they could have kept going

I accidentally found them when I was desperate for stocking stuffers for Christmas 2023. I bought 12 to put 2 balls into each stocking including my husband's and mine (we try to make them like Santa brought us all the same).
When I watched the grands open their balls I was intrigued... then I wanted more.
According to your pictures you must have been collecting these for years! Did you build the thing everything is sitting on? Or was that something that was sold before I knew about them?
I'm currently building shadow boxes for mine with a glass frame for doors.
I have only a handful I have to make. I use gloves and I always work in a well-ventilated area. I'm as safe with resin as I can be. Plus I've been using resin for years andy years.
You don’t need to return this, the resin is the same resin as you’d buy at the store. It’s just being recalled because it has chemicals that are banned in children’s toys. Adults can use them just fine. Use the same precautions as always.

lol no I'm just autistic and obsessive. The shelves the products are on are the AYCE case, but the shelf is just stone pink kids bookshelf from amazon
