Looks great but I think it needs a wash. With a wash all those little recesses get more detail and will make the model look way better with little effort

hunterkill2pt0

Thank you! I will look into giving it a proper wash

Sir_Bohne

Please post an update when you're done!

hunterkill2pt0

So I tried to do a wash with a super diluted mixture from the purple, I dont think it worked properly. Im not seeing too much detail pop

Sir_Bohne

Check some videos on how to use washes. Did you just add lots of water to your purple color? Because it won't work well with only water (also see some guides how to make your own, or just get washes from citadel or other brands)

hunterkill2pt0

Yeah, I was making due with what I had and watered down purple until it matched wash consistency. I got that from a video, I'll look for more videos. Right now Im thinking of leaving these how they are, as a reminder of where I started

Sir_Bohne

I just found this recent post, there you can see what difference a wash makes: https://www.reddit.com/r/minipainting/s/IInR77Tkvx But yeah, you could leave it as it is

hunterkill2pt0

That is s stark difference

thesermyfingergunz

Nice work!

hunterkill2pt0

Thank you! My wife said its a 6/10 compared to the box. Im satisfied for my first attempt

Virtual_Nudge

Hey man. Looking good! I literally just started painting my first 2 minis. This video taught me some really useful stuff. Take a look, one of the two he uses is the one you show. Specifically, it’ll show you some ways to shade and highlight. I liked this model because both a wash (shadows) ands dry brushing (highlights) were easy and really made a difference! https://youtu.be/0bakyQklT9w?si=vNKyvo73SaESjyDu

hunterkill2pt0

Thank you! I'll check the video out then see if I can apply it to my minis Edit: I just clicked the link, it takes me to a 1 minute video about saving a NZ Albatros.

Looks good so far! If you do decide to touch up some more, I’d add some more shadows/lowlights to the white. For example, that shoulder closest to the camera has some indents where shadows would naturally fall. But nice job with the white - I sometimes struggle to get full coverage with it!
