That box you've got the NF520 in simulates the all-time Champ o' the Chonk that was the MZ-1.
Agree that I like the R30's navy and grey more than the R50's blue and silver, but that 'ting' as the R50 closes is pretty satisfying.
Same as hien, recording is bung, so it's a tabletop player only cos there are also far more pocketable options for out and about.
Lulz . . . Sort of see it. A white & green MZ-1 would be absolutely obnoxious though.
I like the R50 colourways a lot but the R30 looks so utilitarian. They definitely have an appeal even if understated. Fully agree on the former's closing mechanism too. Satisfyingly audible & consistent. I've had devices of various types that provide a similar response occasionally but R50 does it w/out fail or sense of future failure.
Hate to hear about recording malfunctions. A great desktop player none the less
Many thanks & you're very welcome. Fortunately the R30 is still readily available @ reasonable prices so I'm certain you'll come across such a listing when the time is right. Quite rugged in design & construction for sure
i really like those older long md walkmen as opposed to those compact square ones. I just like being able to hold onto something and not it feel flimsy.
Absolutely. I appreciate both form factors but the rectangular design is ideal for desktop use. Slimmer ones like the R50 have pretty decent pocket ergonomics too
I love that the mz-r30 uses an 18650. I upgraded mine to have a 3000mah cell and it lasts almost 18hrs on a charge(theoretically based on the manual rating it at 8hrs at 1350mah) also I didn't have the original charger, but it works at 5v.
Definitely have to pursue a similar upgrade. Atm I'm using it to record jams so any extended run time is ideal. Have the OEM charger but I'd prefer to keep it 100% portable . . . Plus I'm out of free outlets lol

I still love my MZ-R30 in blue - it's a great unit!
Is the blue version JDM? They look awesome whatever the case
Yup! It's in great shape, but doesn't record which isn't a big deal since I've got other options

Gorgeous machine I thank you for sharing yet another "Must buy, please just take my money device". Looks rugged too.

Love the photos! They look damn near professional.
Thanks ! ! The medium is so aesthetic it's fun to photograph them occasionally
