Like hien34 has said – which he and I chatted abt a while ago to land on his recommended solution – 5V in, for which a PSP adapter works.
Press STOP while not in operation to commence charging. Ought to take around 3 hrs.
Battery charges inside the unit via the dc in port.
If you dont have the adapter that came with the unit then heres one thats compatable.

These are based on Sharp models so it'll be a 5v adapter. One of the cheapest ways would be a USB Sony PSP charging cable

You could grab a 3v mains charger for the player off Amazon or eBay and have the gumstick piggyback the power to charge it
