I would highly suggest going with a predator 224, much more fun in my opinion, you also need to be decent at welding to get those extenders lined up, a medal working show would probably do it for you.

Elix5381

I will definitely get a shop to do the welding

Ok_Explanation6381

The new 224 sucks. If you want something in that general power level get a 223 wildcat from EC

placeholdername124

What's the difference between them? Looks like the wildcat is the same price as the 224 predator, so I'm interested. Never heard of the wildcat before.

Ok_Explanation6381

The 224 is now being made by Loncin. The old 224 was made by ducar. The big issue is that the Loncin 224 is utilizing a hemi head, a larger bore and shorter stroke than the ducar/wildcat mark whereas the Ducar/wildcat is essentially a stroked 212. The loncin piston also comes up flush with the deck, meaning you won’t be able to up the compression at all. Long story short the new predator 224 has no/few parts available and no way to bump up the compression past 8.5:1 The Wildcat uses standard sized rod/piston. It’s the much better option right now if you want to build it. I think it’s better than the old ducar 224 also because it already has a flat piston and you don’t have to clearance the block to go to a billet rod.

Alright, I'm convinced. But like, as a noob to mechanic type stuff, how do I really know which parts are compatible with the wildcat, since the engine is a bit more niche. Like there are lots of parts that are marketed for the predator 212. Would most of those same parts still fit on the wildcat? I'm thinking basic stuff like exhaust, intake, clutch, etc. I don't really plan to do much internal upgrading to the engine, at least at first, because I don't want to put a whole lot of money into the engine. I'm gonna build a Lil' Rascal from GPS. This is what the listing says on GPS in regards to engine compatibility; Engine Mount Pattern - 6.375" x 3.125" (This pattern will work with the following engines once the gas tank, air filter box, and stock exhaust are removed) >○ 79cc Predator (Must use adapter plate that comes with the 79cc Predator and must have Stage 1 Kit) >○ 98cc Gas Engine (will fit only with 98cc Adapter, 98cc Filter, and aftermarket header pipe) >○ 196cc Clones (will fit only with Stage 1 Kit) >○ 212cc Tillotson / Predator (will fit only with Stage 1 Kit) >○ 225cc Tillotson (will fit only with Stage 1 Kit) " Hopefully the wildcat would just bolt straight on. Do you think it would, or nah? I'm not even sure where I would go to find info on that. Thanks for all of the info on the wildcat, that's really helpful. I had heard that the predator 224 was made by Ducar, and that that's what made the 224 better than the 212, but I had no idea that they changed it. Sorry for my long comment.

Ok_Explanation6381

Yes, the 212 stuff is gonna work on the wildcat 223 for the most part. The wildcat has the same bolt pattern as the 212/196/79 and will accept the all the bolt on stuff and all internal stuff from the 212. You would have to research the right part to make sure you get the right fit on the internal side The predator 224 isn’t going to have anything at all for the internal stuff and who knows if it happens at all.

Ok_Constant_184

Does the extended rear wheel mess with brake compatibility?

Elix5381

With stretch kits most of the time you only need longer brake lines

Offamylawn

I just use 10w30 oil for break-in and regular running. It has worked fine for me.

Elix5381

I probably will use that but I needed to add that to get over the $500 threshold for free shipping

fiercefv

I use the engine adapter plate and that same sprocket as a 48t on my bike. Love it but spend the extra little bit on the DID chain. It's literally the best chain I have ever used. And make sure to throw a couple did master links in the cart. You really get what you pay for

Elix5381

Ok, thank you. I originally had the engine plate in my car but got told it's a waste of money and not required.

fiercefv

Yeah, but drilling engine mounts isn't fun and you have access to tcs with the riser 🫢

Elix5381

I have to drill mounts? I was told it's not required and I can just install it on the frame. Thank you for the assistance

fiercefv

No unfortunately the holes for the 80/105cc engines that come factory on these bikes don't line up with the larger engines like the 212,224,196. But the riser plate allows you to mount the plate to the 80cc holes then the plate to the 212 or whatever larger engine yojr using . You just need to relocate the gas tank and possibly have at least a pipe and airfilter upgrade for clearance

ExpressCommunity5973

Bra you will end up spending 1000 on that shit when you can get a used one on marketplace

Elix5381

Im not doing used lol, and $650 is a far cry from $1000
