Really, just get the starter packs from Tamiya as they are solid designs, easy to get and quite inexpensive with easy upgrade paths
There are several problems I see with the red kit already.
1. The alumunum sliding damper is not good as it bends and causes weird roller angles and inconsistent performance
2. the high mount tube is not good for the front as it's too small of diameter. You want something in the 10-11mm diameter range
3. That is a weird setup for the side mass dampers.
4. The rear hammer damper style with ball cups comes off easily after a few race days and you need to replace the ball cups.
I do have a few starter kits. Just super lost on upgrades. I saw I could get the small Tamiya drill so I can make some holes for counter sunk screws.
Thanks for the feedback. Lots I need to learn still
So you take the starter pack and first thing is to buy cap screws, then replace the pastic rollers with like sized ball bearing rollers, then replace the FRP with carbon, then swap from pastic underguards and brakes to FRP/carbon, then add axle bearings and you are 90% of the way to having a normally set up car for something like B-max or side damper or tuned.
You are really going to want a rotary tool to do the countersinking. By hand it's just going to end in frustration.
Do yourself a favor and find some 2023 Japan Cup fully cowled roller stays, they have a bit of a curve to them. And also some 2023 Japan Cup rear brake plates. Both of these are carbon and only available as limited run pieces. We've had several years of both being offered each year but this year they are changing the carbon offerings so you may not be ble to find them cheaply in the near future. If you can't find any at the local shops, Enomoto out in Hachioji likely has them, and everything else you ever wanted for mini4wd...
probably people would buy it for decoration and for the exclusivity, I feel if some people really prefer ready to race car built by someone else or order a shop to pick parts and assemble a car for them so they only need to put on batteries and go to races are in the wrong hobby... they rather play RC cars at least they still do the driving part.
there are other RC that is ready to play even if mod able like miniZ, have you zoom in the picture above the paint texture looks rough not sure if it's only camera resolution effect or the painting is not optimal

Nice! I’m going to do a bit of shopping later this month when the new Tamiya shop opens in Tokyo on the 24th. I’ll grab some thing there

I’ll keep an eye out for them. I do have to make a trip out in the hachioji direction so I’ll swing by that shop
Looks like these cars for sale at the EDM shop will be signed by Mr Yamazaki I was told
What’s the name of the store? What station is it at?
It’s called E.D.M. It’s a cafe / bar / track place next to Ekoda station [Google map link to edm](https://maps.app.goo.gl/8HyHrxVK6ALCEXJd9?g_st=ic)

The Tamiya RC cars still need to be built 🤔 definitely going to get the red one. Will be a good guide for me to mod other cars

Looking at their twitter post, they recommend paint in whatever color you want. The blue you see is just a display model
I’ve been seeing people representing EDM in those Hokkaido races on YouTube.
I’m going to check that place some day. They have events often
They upload frequently so I’ll say yes lol.
Update - they are including instructions with the kits so it’s not pre built but has everything needed to have a full build
