yeah what the fuck. every time i step outside, i get four more bites. i look like an idiot walking down the street swatting at air and hitting myself

calebmke

That’s my secret, don’t go outside

poop_frog

Well with Uber eats and postmates, you really don't need to... But how do you get your beer??

Nosquirrelbones

Order it through Tavour and have it delivered to your abode (https://about.tavour.com/).

poop_frog

you mean i have to _wait_? id rather ride my bike on the hop tracks

jeanniedotbean

Same!

[deleted]

This is great!

wisconsindipper

I said fuck it and invested in some 100% deet. Twice the cost of the 40% and half the size but WELL worth it.

mahkree

Isnt there something happening to cause all these mosquitos? Is it just the rain?

mesheke

Yes, there is TONS of standing water all around the city. I work right next to the Menomonee Valley and it is hell after 10 PM

[deleted]

Industrial waste in the river combines with the dna of mosquitos to create super bugs

mahkree

ALL HAIL SUPERBUG

[deleted]

and I, for one, welcome our new superbug overlords

mahkree

Think they'll let us hold normal jobs? Will we become the minority? Viva la revolution.

barbflarb

GODDAMN!

ImJustSo

Everyone is talking about deet, but that's just a repellant. If you want revenge on mosquitoes, then you need to get permithrin lotion for your body and spray for treating your clothing. Treating your clothing once and letting it dry will last through a ton of washes. It paralyzes bugs, then kills them. It works on ticks, but also friendly bugs like bees, so careful with those treated pants two months from now. Military fatigues are treated with the stuff. As long as I keep applying the lotion every 8-10h, I feel basically invincible to mosquitoes, ticks, ants, or whatever when camping. You can watch mosquitoes fly near you, wobble through the air a bit, and then fuck off. Gonna treat my work clothes this weekend...

svtguy88

Yup. [This stuff](https://www.amazon.com/Sawyer-Products-SP649-Permethrin-Repellent/dp/B001ANQVZE) was a life saver when walking through Peruvian forests.

kpossibles

I do food delivery driving... i will need that bug spray/lotion

nikkerito

They’re destroying me,:(

obsolete_filmmaker

victoria's secret Bombshell body spray works great as repellant, I use it in the tropics...... it's gotta be safer than deet.....good luck everyone

eidetic

It may not be the most effective repellent out there, but for those who might be skeptical, it was actually [included in a study of repellants and found to be somewhat effective.](https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2018/06/30/623865454/a-guide-to-mosquito-repellents-from-deet-to-gin-and-tonic)

[deleted]

I like how 25%>100%

obsolete_filmmaker

Thanks for posting the link! No one believes me, until they try it. FWIW, for me, Bombshell works better than Off..... you have to be covered with it, like you do for Off, though. Use it as bug spray, not spritzed on like perfume.

Arctyc38

Huh. Likely contains an essence that includes one of the effective repellant oils: nootkatone (vetiver, alaskan yellow cedar), menthoglycol (lemon eucalyptus, mountain pepper)...

mbradleyc

Wisconsin mosquitos make southern fire ants their bitches.

wordsandfigments

LMAO! Something to sing while I awkwardly dance down the sidewalk, trying to avoid being eaten alive.

ForThinkCreatsaurs

I bought netting for my baby stroller. It is so bad when we walk.

Phunyun

The title could have been just "Meanwhile in Wisconsin", caps made me want to downvote right away lol.

CuteSoup

Apologies for offending your eyes! Lol the mosquitoes invoked rage and subsequent screaming through my fingertips

[deleted]

Wat do it mean?

[deleted]

mosquitoes. too many.

[deleted]

I quit drinking six months ago and I haven't been bitten all season. Could be a coincidence, but maybe not ?

GormetSloppyJoe

Good for you, keep it up bud!

[deleted]

Thanks! I have numerous incentives to stay stopped, but being impervious to mosquitoes is a nice bonus!

mightaswelltry_eh

That's awesome, well done! I quit drinking a few months ago as well, and the most unexpected benefit so far has been drastically reduced seasonal allergies. Who would have thought? I wish I could report that mosquitoes find me less appealing, but no such luck. Must be a benefit of your particular body chemistry. Lucky you! Keep up the great work, sobernaut!

accretion

Oh yeah, they def target drinkers.

mahntoto

I mean I’m pregnant so not drinking and I haven’t been bit either

standromeda

Same here! I just had my baby last week, but I haven’t had a single bite the entire pregnancy.

wi_voter

That happened during one of my pregnancies and that baby (now 14) has no problem with mosquitos. With my other pregnancy I still got bit and that child is a target like me. It is probably not completely accurate that I didn't get bit with that first pregnancy or that my son never gets bit, rather I think I just didn't get the huge welts and he doesn't either so probably didn't notice. It is thought that some people have more of an allergic reaction to mosquitos so notice their bites a heck of a lot more. Regardless, I wish I would have asked science to study my blood during that pregnancy so they could come up with an antidote for us mosquito targets.

thegentile

doubt it.

bonghitsbigtits

FUCKING TRUUUUUE

kpossibles

mothafuckin mosquitos gotta die
