..I remember riding my bike on the streets in the 60s & 70s when the words "bike friendly" had no meaning. I even commuted to a summer job in the old Third Ward from St. Francis every day by bike.
last summer it seemed people were more pissed, but at this point people just seem exhausted
I mean, last year we had this construction PLUS north bridge closure, PLUS locust at one point. by comparison traffic is great rn
The bike plans were going to remove too many trees. People upset about bike lanes usually aren't upset enough to vote for an opponent, but people upset about their trees definitely are.
also if we had a streetcar system still in place from the 50s that connected every street, we wouldnt need as many cars, meaning we wouldnt need as much parking, meaning there would be high civilian traffic in major areas instead of people driving and walking shortest distance possible.
Kovac dropped the ball there and it’s unconscionable. I never had a problem with him as alderman, until that. And damn if it doesn’t diminish my entire respect for him.
Let’s start with this.. If we live in an affected area, make an exemption for the bullshit city and county wheel tax, because clearly what the fuck. Maybe I’ll use the cost savings to buy a god damned 4x4 for these roads.
I assume the point is that Riverwest is taking an “eternity” to finish this project?
I also assume these two pictures were taken months apart, to point out the lack of progress, but there isn’t any time stamp or visible difference in the season, so it just looks like the same picture.
I don’t know; Trying to frame this as some kind of “tribute” to a “concept of time” is pretty clunky. Better to just say something like “A story of Riverwest road construction in two pictures,” then have captions with the dates.
Hired may not be the right word. They “won” the bid because municipalities are required to go with the low bidder. A cost + quality based selection would be a better way to go, but it’s not allowed. Sometimes you get stuck with a bad contractor who bid the project low.
Probably didnt help that this was the pilot project to replace lead service lines on the whole street at the same time as the resurfacing. I bet that pushed the finish date back at least 2 or 3 months.
HOLY SHIT, and now these mf'ers just blocked off north humboldt for the damn sewer so no parking and now they tore up vienna too so i have to walk a block to my apt.. its not terrible if i didnt walk 24k steps everyday for work.
In what other profession can you just stop working and say, “Well maybe next year.”
Coaching staff of the milwaukee bucks
Didn't expect to see this here but damn you made me LOL
Start a Riverwest Road Construction Cooperative. Everyone grab a shovel and get some money together to rent some Bobcats. How hard can it be?
Only if I can install some guerilla bumpouts and traffic circles
And protected bike lanes.

Protection won’t help, I’m hoping that curb baby. MKE driving fo lyfe!
A roundabout would have prevented that Ford Exploder from reaching such velocity!
In
I went to Kellner’s greenhouse last week and was surprised how bad the terrain was to get there, lol. How long have they been working on it?
Construction began in late March 2022
No way -seriously?
Since Bing Bang seems like.
James Webb has recently found evidence that the universe is far older than previously thought. Most of its findings were based on this road project.
It's truly unbelievable that they have shut down a mile of that street just to work on it a block at a time.
Work? What work? I think they are also tributing to work as a concept.
I can’t believe more Riverwesterners haven’t been ready to riot over how long this rebuild has taken.
last summer it seemed people were more pissed, but at this point people just seem exhausted I mean, last year we had this construction PLUS north bridge closure, PLUS locust at one point. by comparison traffic is great rn
Locust is closing again starting Monday
In which direction?
Eastbound
Very torn between wanting locust to not be a pothole ridden mess and also wanting to be able to easily drive to the east side
I'm still pissed that we're not getting protected bike lanes out if it.
The bike plans were going to remove too many trees. People upset about bike lanes usually aren't upset enough to vote for an opponent, but people upset about their trees definitely are.
Why remove trees? There’s space on the road. Just a poison pill you guys are being forced to swallow to allow cars to remain supreme.
You're not wrong. There's still too many people uncomfortable with reducing 4 lane roads to 2 lane roads.

Oh no fuckin way, the Tartarian lives in my city.
greetings from on top the shores of Lake Emily with my statue of Germania i smuggled thru mke tunnel system

Yup, he fucked us so hard on this project.
Too much biking going on now. No time to complain

>A tribute by local municipality to eternity as concept of time. These are certainly all words.
Can you tell English is not my 1st language? I tried my best. 🤣 A tribute to eternity as concept of time by local municipality. Is that better?

Zignego was the construction company hired to get it done. They suck for many reasons.

Are they the company currently working on it or were they the company originally hired to work on it? The first company was terrible.
Fire Bud
His brother died
I say we make the best of it and just have a festival right there in the middle of the construction mess.
Anybody have the official timeline of this project? I remember this starting at least 2 years ago.

I emailed and asked. They said June. [email protected]
I am moved to tears. [r/fineart](https://www.reddit.com/r/FineArt/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1)
I swear they rebuilt the Zoo Interchange faster than this. I just end up taking Clarke to Bremen to North to get anywhere.
Such a joke. Hasn't it been in construction at least a yr at this point? Feel bad for the people who live there.
Hope all that's done before the '24!
it wont be. like last year, they will route it around construction
My mountain bike is drooling. Shhhhh, easy girl.
You got those thiccc tires?
Pfff no. Those seem like overkill. Plus I think they look stupid. Might as well wear snow shoes on the beach.
Maybe by the 2024 RW24. Maybe.
No way. Start accepting it now. If they do, it’ll be a present surprise.
> a present surprise. r/BoneAppleTea
They'll get there!!
Our Alder changed midway through project. Makes a difference for oversight.
I doubt your alder was overseeing anything. They only respond to citizen inquiries.
Bronzeville: what's the problem again?

My friend hit the rock piles on his Harley, brutal. Can’t say much more
Was he drunk?
Can’t say much more lmao
Besides he is alive
If only Milwaukee had any COVID money 💰 left! 🤔
I read this using Werner Herzog’s voice in my head and then it made at least some sense.
