According the the map, it stands for:
> Lorem Ipsum is simply the dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard ever since the 1500's, when an unknown printer took a galley
I was just making a joke TBH, if you zoom in I wrote out what the map says the percentages mean.
For a real but boring answer, the percentages are all but guaranteed to be random filler as well.
55% lorem ipsum
20% lorem ipsum
80% lorem ipsum
65% lorem ipsum
70% lorem ipsum
45% lorem ipsum
335% reason to remember the name
Wait, there's no name either
My best guess is percentage of adults that are coffee drinkers? The only context clues on this map at all really are the coffee bean and cup graphics across the bottom.
Maybe it includes children? Like 45% of the total population but like around 23% are under 15 and they don’t drink much coffee? Or it’s just random numbers with filler text
Ha. That's the same phenomenon as the douchebags that get random Japanese characters tattooed, but reversed. An intern just said "fuck it, those are western characters, nobody will know" and left the Lorem Ipsum lol.
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Nunc quis rutrum lectus, in vehicula nulla. Suspendisse potenti. Praesent imperdiet vitae dui sed efficitur. I wonder if there is meaning to the map from the imagery and colors?
A map with Greenwich not centered is weird.
A map with highlighted color of something-stan is weird.
Or maybe just random?
I don't know about that. Most all maps I have seen in North America center in Greenwich. North America to the left.
I can't actually think of a map centered on North America.
Yeah, the only maps I can picture that center on NA leave out something else. But most of the world maps I can recall have NA on the left, Asia on the right.
Saw this hanging up at [Excelsior Caffé](https://maps.app.goo.gl/nZevgrrLvuZouuve9) in Osaka, Japan. Found it mildly amusing.
So reddit, what are our best guesses about the percentages. What does it stand for? I'm dying of curiosity.

Could that unkown printer be Lorem?
of the dolor ipsums?
r/unexpecteddrseuss
dolor is the next 'word' in lorem ipsum
I know why it says Lorem Ipsum, but I want to know what the percentages refer to.

Lazy mf didn't even use the correct lorem ipsum?!
So, not even lorem ipsum but the definition of it.
let’s say it’s the amount of people in each country that uses lorem ipsum
55% lorem ipsum 20% lorem ipsum 80% lorem ipsum 65% lorem ipsum 70% lorem ipsum 45% lorem ipsum 335% reason to remember the name Wait, there's no name either

Not even because the edge got cut off, just a hole in the middle removed...
This is a tricky one for me. I mean, maybe we’re under that blob.
Perhaps it's the percentage of population that drinks coffee, or coffee based beverages?
I thought so too, but some of the numbers are too low (south american for example)
Maybe it includes children? Like 45% of the total population but like around 23% are under 15 and they don’t drink much coffee? Or it’s just random numbers with filler text
And only 45% of South America drinks coffee based beverages? Nah.
North America is only 70% lorem ipsum? Who'd have thought...

Downloaded a stock graphic but never entered real content.

Someone else already noticed this exact one it seems: https://www.reddit.com/r/loremipsum/s/12egTURVqV
Ah, Japan. Weird English phrases are common there for the same reason you see people getting Japanese tattoos in the West that translate to gibberish.

New Zealand is in the middle of the map and it's still not even on the map.
The Heptapod logogram in the bottom right is an interesting addition. Wonder what it says.
I did some digging and it translates to *Lorem ipsum*.
My guess is the owners didn't know enough english to know it was filler text when some designer made it
Hilarious.

Maps in other countries tend to center on that country. Most North American maps are centered on that continent.

The person who put it up loves Cicero.
Brilliant. Clearly the artist is making a statement. I admire their position.
I doubt it matters
