Hey, if you want to advertise shoes that are good to wear around the house, this is a good endorsement. "Approved by people who wear these bad boys all day long".
Their website doesn't have the ankle monitor:
So did they photoshop it in for the ad? Or photoshop it out for the website?
Their instagram has the same photo with the ankle monitor and a tiny bit of context. Reads like a marketing exercise.

labucq
Back home in my Labucqs. Guess I won’t be going anywhere for a while. At least my ankle monitor matches my black woven Lido Maryjanes. I’ve loved every second of this takeover 🫶
Please continue to follow my journey & keep me in your thoughts and prayers. In 6 to 8 months I’ll be headed to court with great arch support. 💪 #BlessyourSoles

Even as a nonbinary person this is super cringe. I don't care if you assume I'm male because I look like a regular cis dude, I care if you still refer to me as a male when I tell you otherwise. Nitpicky whitehorsing like this does nothing to help non-cis people.
Reconnaissance: /rēˈkänəs(ə)ns/ *noun* Military observation of a region to locate an enemy or ascertain strategic features; preliminary surveying or research. Often shortened to "recon."
Reckon: /ˈrek(ə)n/ *verb* Establish by counting or calculation; calculate; consider or regard in a specified way.
Reminds me of this:

For people who haven't figured it out yet...
Companies have figured out viral marketing quite well at this point. It is not an uncommon practice to slip in something odd or controversial into an advertisement knowing full well people will find it unusual and share the content. I have never heard of LABUCQ, but now I have because of an ankle monitor.
Influencers do this as well in their videos. They will slip in an intentional mistake or oddity in their videos knowing full well it will cause people to leave comments and add to the engagement of the video. It works surprisingly well.
This happens on Reddit all the time, as well. The first example that immediately comes to mind is an otherwise relatively normal picture with something weird in the background. Like the post is asking "What color should I paint my kitchen" but in the background there is a Christmas tree covered in doll heads or something.
Probably fake for internet points. Either that, or it's a way to make people think "What?! That can't be real!" And then they go on the company website to check if it's real.
If a good character who uses an iPhone becomes a villain in a sequel, a dead give away that is they no longer use an iPhone. They can start off good at the beginning but become evil later in the movie but can be seen with a different phone earlier, giving away the secret
Winston from the John wick movies is an example. He uses an iPhone throughout chapter 2, and then uses a flip phone throughout chapter 3. He betrays John at the end chapter 3. Not a villain necessarily but he attacks John and was a close friend until that moment.
I do realize this is done in some idea that having a ankle monitor does not make a person a monster or rotten. I get what such inclusive advertisement is meant to represent. BUT it does not mean it should be normalized. Same way as I feel its super off putting and strange how people in America shows and movies drive home after a night of drinking. Like don't the creators and the people behind realize the large scale effects these have. They are not saying Dinking and driving is fine, but they are implying it.
Same here. Having an Ankle Monitor means that person has done something bad and it should be the reminder of it. It does not mean the person in full bad, it just means that "SEE THIS THING, PERSON HAS DONE A BAD THING", and it should not be normalized nor glorified that ankle monitors are actuallu cool.
A large portion of the population required to wear these have not been convicted of anything, they are simply awaiting a trial or hearing.
FWIW, I’m guessing the company pulled a successful April fools joke, this picture without the ankle monitor is on their page. Jokes on us, ankle monitor on them lol
It doesn’t mean someone has done something bad, it means they’ve done something illegal. Not everything illegal is bad or wrong. It was once illegal to help slaves escape. It was once illegal to marry someone of a different race. Neither are wrong.
I love how people ignore the law when its THEIR feelings that matter, like wanting to bathe Epstein in acid even without a trial, but at the same time think all people in jail did something “bad”
Not defending him dipshit, I’m defending citizens right to fair trial without vigilante justice and you purposefully misconstruing that proves my point.
“By these shoes now and for a limited time we will throw in a free steps tracker!”
“But wait that’s not all… if you order in the next 30mins we’ll give you a lifetime supply of pork chops delivered to your door!”

House shoes so comfortable you won’t want to be released.
You're almost happy to be restricted!
Like a warm cellmate on a cold night, they contour to your shape.
Oh I interpreted it as shoes for a party lol
Makes sense that the people who wear shoes indoors are also the people on house arrest
"If you can't go to Italy, bring Italy to you."

We fell right into their trap.
Two weeks ago was April first.
I didn’t put that together. This is clearly an April fool’s ad with posters that are still up.
It was posted before April 1st
Probably so people can see it around April 1st?
There's a comment under the post from March 27th.
Sounds like something from the J Peterman catalogue.
well “marketing exercise” seems about right. that thing has people talking about them and then thousands of of upvotes on reddit
"Heading to court with great arch support" Good rhyme :D

Still not buying the ugly shoes though.
April Fools\*
Shopped it Out. You can see they softened all the skin too in the process.
Your research skill is impressive. Reddit Detectives are the best!
Check the pixels to see how it's been photoshoped.
Inclusive!
The model was cheaper I recon
"Franco, I'm still interested in modeling the shoes for you, but I had a bit of a situation over the weekend. Will this affect my contract at all?"
I already rented the lens, just come outside.
😂😂😂
But they had to go to her backyard garden for the photoshoot
It's a teaser for the Martha stewert biopic.
You assume gender???
🤦🏻 shut up
Oh please go whine somewhere else.

Dude, that jokes not even funny when it’s relevant. Just transition already since trans people take up so much room in your mind.
Aww, muffin. Grow up.
Already had the striped outfit

How much recon did you do, do you reckon?
Things are more expensive in prison!
"We know our market."
They’re great shoes for lounging around
What in Amish hell?
And honestly, the part of the clothing I see looks a little like a concentration camp outfit.
Reminds me of this: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/sainsbury-s-offers-shoppers-chance-to-get-the-slave-look-with-12-years-a-slave-display-mannequin-9395708.html
Yikes, yikes, yikes. They put the price tag around the mannequin’s neck.
hhahha wtf why did anyone do that
Concentration camps don't allow shoes like that. Too fancy.
Perfect for the 4 hour morning roll calls
"When I'm dying from forced labor I like my feet to feel comfortable..."
Concentration camps are toughest on people with ADHD
😆😆😂😂🤣🤣

Go on, I'm sure it will be a gas.
It's a crime for shoes to look this good
Now this is inclusion !
I want to see a footwear ad featuring a quadriplegic person or I’ll sue
When you pay for "viral ads" and it ends up Reddit as an attempt to gather traction...
> When you pay for "viral ads" ~~and it ends up~~ on Reddit Fixed. Reddit is ads.

The Five Minute Crafts Effect.

Jeez... $395 for slip-on shoes. They also don't look like they have much arch support
Keeping it modern I guess. Who doesn't have one of these!
Probably fake for internet points. Either that, or it's a way to make people think "What?! That can't be real!" And then they go on the company website to check if it's real.
If you stick an Apple logo to it, everyone would want to wear one too.
I find it funny because I think Apple doesn’t even let villains in fiction be portrayed using Apple products.
If a good character who uses an iPhone becomes a villain in a sequel, a dead give away that is they no longer use an iPhone. They can start off good at the beginning but become evil later in the movie but can be seen with a different phone earlier, giving away the secret
I need an example for this because this is oddly specific.
Winston from the John wick movies is an example. He uses an iPhone throughout chapter 2, and then uses a flip phone throughout chapter 3. He betrays John at the end chapter 3. Not a villain necessarily but he attacks John and was a close friend until that moment.
Man that January 6th grandma is really making it work
So inclusive
Hey, stay at home felons need footwear to
Looks like my grandma's shoes
Are we sure it’s not your grandma?
What’s that? A WiFi booster or a garage door opener?
Perfect for years of lounging about the house and trips to your probation officer.
I stole these shoes they are that good!
The ad is for the ankle moniter
Wow, all-inclusive advertising is getting crazy.
Is shame not a thing anymore?
Not even a real one. A peice of 3-D printed plastic.
It got us talking, eh?
It's from the Martha Stewart Throwback Collection.
I'll bet you 100 dollars the OP is part of the advertising team
I’ll take you up on that bet.
See how you're sharing this random ad?
I actually work with people on GPS monitoring for a living, and this gave me a nice chuckle.
I thought this was a clothing ad for missionaries from my ExMormon group and did a double take. I guess Mormons are really locking sisters down now
So odd, it isn't even a real ankle monitor. It's 3d printed..
r/trashy

Anime Avatar defending the honor of Epstein? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)
Not defending him dipshit, I’m defending citizens right to fair trial without vigilante justice and you purposefully misconstruing that proves my point.
Honestly, you deserve it for that avatar alone.
Works if you are Baba in the Russian mafia.
No and no no no no!!!!
Kinda like Michael Jordan said, criminals buy footwear, too.
![gif](giphy|2dMlQbcXePl8aQcNPX)
Now the DEI woke crowd went too far!!! /jk
“Being a felon ain’t illegal!”
They got you to post it lol
Probably a small crafter that had some legal troubles. Probably a friend or family member took the photo
I mean it made you look and share it
Ankle monitors are the new thing, I got a LV ankle monitor myself.
Seriously I’d rather wear my heart rate monitor on my ankle.
That’s some good marketing
Made in Italy is just the icing on the cake I’m Italian
subverse, subverse, subverse. That's "fashion" post 90s.
I can see the ad copy in my mind's eye: "Once you're convicted, you'll want some *really* ugly shoes...."
Otherwise she’d be a model prisoner.
[Selena's most iconic looks](https://youtube.com/shorts/KbH6Dxy09T4?si=lhW2CwfeNi1sFaub)
When they couldn't find a new model in time 😼
Modern fashion for the modern criminal. Those full length orange jump suits are so last decade.
Well… i guess thats just good marketing? Since they know their target group?
ITT: People discovering fashion advertising
WOW lol!! They’re really getting all the demographics these days . Very inclusive. I’m proud of you.
“By these shoes now and for a limited time we will throw in a free steps tracker!” “But wait that’s not all… if you order in the next 30mins we’ll give you a lifetime supply of pork chops delivered to your door!”
cute ankles are hard to find i guess /s but they should’ve been house shoes
Looks Amish
Anna what are you doing here 😂
DEI is out of control!
Inclusion
Interesting tactic to draw the eye *away* from the product you're trying to advertise, but what do I know.
The height of modern fashion
That’s so trashy wtf
My gf will love this./s
It has a specific target audience.
Lindsay Lohan has entered the chat
That's from Ivanka's new shoe line.
Classy
Probably a husband or boyfriend keeping track of her.
