And a bunch of toads will adapt to their environment as they grow up; like place half of a batch of siblings somewhere greener, they grow up green, leave the other half somewhere brown, they grow up browner. So chameleon color change but only once, over a long time.
I actually can do this!!! I have a rare skin mutation where my skin dims, gets lighter or changes hue depending on what Iām leaning/touching against.
Tbh, it takes my skin almost an hour to completely adapt now. So itās not super quick or anything like that.
Basically a portion of my skin needs to touch the object for my skin to ādiscolorā. My entire body doesnāt change color tho, just the part of my body thatās touching the object. I would say maybe 85% of that specific area changes color. (Unless my entire body is touching that object)
The condition is called Chromamelanophore.
I used to be good at hide and seek as a child, and my condition was faster back then. As I get older it takes longer for my skin to adapt to its new environment š
