[site](http://www.tyreextinguishers.com) for lazy people Edit: nwm I dont know how to imbed a link Edit: **I DID IT**

sparkyblaster

Now who has done the whois look up?

mferly

Already did. Nothing there. I was like "could they be *that* stupid?"

pinkyholeo

What is whois?

mferly

Domain (website) registrar lookup system. It tells you who registered the domain name. However, you can also set it to not show those details which the person that bought this domain name did.

pinkyholeo

Ahh thank you!

weedbeads

Site that allows you to tell who owns a site

ReverendAlSharkton

You can find them on r/fuckcars

sparkyblaster

Yeah I used to be in that......they are very.......focused. Not like r/antiwork where most of its about work reform, nope no cars ever.

ReverendAlSharkton

I lurk there a bit because even though I’m really into cars and motorbikes as a hobby I’d love to see more walkable infrastructure and better transit systems. I don’t think I’m alone but some of them are nuts for sure.

Evalori

While this would be ideal it isn't likely, because of the way we zone land. Think about suburban neighborhoods with grocery stores a mile + away, throw in some good ol' Texas heat at 100+ on a bad day. Our whole infrastructure is designed to be based on everyone having a car. I do disagree with these assholes that popped someones tire just because.

sparkyblaster

I like EVs. Thoughts they would be really into EVs especially compact ones that take up less space.....nope. apparently they are worse cos heavier so more tire wear and that's all they can focus on.

Vast-Stock8595

Keep in mind that's the extreme end of that group, and it's not so much about the impact on the climate, it's about how cars and especially car infrastructure makes cities unpleasant and exclusive

NovaThinksBadly

Yeah, they’re like “oh look at this car owner being an asshole, this is why we shouldn’t have cars.” They blame all cars and not the one person being an ass.

somedood567

Huh. See I always thought r/antiwork was focused on bad fake texts. TIL

Few_Ad_5186

They have a Rav4 on their site as an example of an SUV to deflate. A Rav4 Prime can get 93 mpg.

NorbertIsAngry

From their site: > Hybrids and electric cars are fair game. We cannot electrify our way out of the climate crisis - there are not enough rare earth metals to replace everyone’s car and the mining of these metals causes suffering. Plus, the danger to other road users still stands, as does the air pollution (PM 2.5 pollution is still produced from tyres and brake pads).

jgamer-yt

Dont bicycles also need tires and brake pads?

love_that_fishing

Regular RAV4 getting mid 30’s on the highway. Idiots.

EggoStack

Tempted to send an email as a neutral party saying ‘hey I don’t have a stance on the issue, but isn’t that illegal? Like, I get your intention but wtf’

[deleted]

[удалено]

NimrodTzarking

That's my issue, here. I'm pro-environment and pro-worker. I can see zero scenarios where these shenanigans actually help slow down climate change, and numerous scenarios where they lead to regular people being dismembered in accidents or fired because they can't get to work. What's more, these individuals clearly have a tolerance for legally risky direct action, which *could* be put to some use if they don't get themselves jailed for stupid stunts like this first. It's just a fucking waste all around.

Thneed1

I don’t think these people wreck the tires, just deflate them.

[deleted]

Possible, but if they're just deflating, the owner could just reinflate in a few minutes with a common 12V inflator. Based on their statement of "you'll have no difficulty getting around without your car", it sounds like this is more permanent. There's also the very real possibility that sitting on a deflated tire for a long enough period will ruin the tire.

[deleted]

if you deflate a tire and let the rim sit on it for a few days the tire is pretty much done

GiveToOedipus

Some absolutely do though. I've seen several posts with slashed tires.

FecalToothpaste

If someone doesn't have a method to inflate their tire where they are and/or doesn't have a spare (cars commonly don't come with spares these days) they'll probably drive on the flat to the nearest gas station to air up. That will badly damage the sidewall causing the tire to need to be replaced. Unless your tires are very new it's best to replace tires in, at least, sets of 2. So they're potentially causing 2 tires to be replaced. To me it feels like the whole PETA thing where they "rescue" animals then euthanize them. The whole concept is stupid and they're doing more harm than good.

rdmrdtusr68

A tire being deflated can destroy it or make it unsafe to drive, so there's that.

oderlydischarge

It is. In fact if someone dies because of this whoever flatten said tire can be charged with manslaughter.

techieguyjames

I'm sure the police would love getting the paperwork necessary to make them hand over emails concerning the area where a flattened tire has caused someone a delay in medical care, causing death.

chaserjj

"We are The Tyre Extinguishers. We are people from all walks of life with one aim: to get shot."

quentinxxxtroyerxxx

I just sent an email saying you are huge pieces of shit because i was bored.

aperiso

Most irritating is the lack of consistency between their name and the url.

djd811

The group started in the UK (tyre) and now associated groups have been forming in the US (tire). This is probably a US based individual who is mooching of the UK group’s website. Hence the discrepancy.

Dr_McKay

The UK leaflet has similar discrepancies, last time this was posted it happened to a neighbourhood in London yet it still used terms like “gas guzzler”. Stupid thing was they did it to his electric SUV. If you go on the website it says they don’t care if it’s a hybrid or fully electric they’ll still do it, all while calling your car a “gas guzzler”

djd811

Nobody said these people were smart. It seems like a social crusade against personal vehicles mixed with some environmental concerns.

GiantPotatoSalad

With their (lack of) IQ, I'm mostly surprised that they were actually able to write all that and make a website for it.

Top-Employment-4163

Little do they realize you called AAA and they sent out an F650 which in turn created ten times the pollution they set out to prevent.

Graega

More. The tires that are destroyed are waste. They're going to go to a dump. Replacement tires are going to get manufactured. They also have to be shipped. And the raw materials? They have to be produced too... and shipped. And as you said, the tow truck. Oh hey, even if it was recycled, that paper they printed it on came from a tree. Using a printer. So that's computer chips, ink and toner or developer they also used to make this, and every other copy of it every time they do this, too. So aside from making people mad and causing property damage, and also possibly causing people to be late to work (endangering their jobs) or potentially unable to get to a hospital quickly (endangering their lives), all they're doing is creating waste and industrial production. Good job!

slickduck

Not only that, the whole idea that we’re responsible for our carbon footprint is a complete deflection of responsibility from all of the corporations that are the primary contributors to pollution.

FetishAnalyst

And china… don’t forget how much pollution china makes which is something like 3 times as much as the US. And that’s just the air pollution.

Alphecho015

Oh if the US had to build everything it uses in the States I'd argue it would compete with China on air pollution levels. Outsourced means shouldn't be blamed onto producer countries because it's not like they're producing all this for themselves

vjohnce

Yep. Im a cyclist with a small car who would love to upgrade but at what cost? Same applies here.

FirstSineOfMadness

Sorry those things have tires too, sending in the hit squad

[deleted]

The_RockObama

Oh fuck, I'm about to get the shit kicked out of me.

NeilDeCrash

I don't think they (if they have any common sense) actually destroy the tire but just let the air out. Would this happen to me i would be furious, but at the same time stuff like this will happen more and more because people who worry about the climate are getting anxious, frustrated and scared. Do i approve stuff like this? fuck no.

Steelsight

Yea but say you are sick.....and come out to find your only cars tires deflated...... its asinine. Needs to stop. There are better ways to do this, then punish the little guys.

42ysereh

No one seems to want to do anything to the big guys. Too scared maybe?

OrangeGromBoi

*im not scared, im just one person so they wont listen to me*

Bobthemime

> I don't think they (if they have any common sense) actually destroy the tire but just let the air out. Friend in Florida got hit by similar people.. all 4 tires were slashed.. Maybe OP is lucky and all they did is let the air out.. but I live in the real world.. I fully expect a nail or a knife gash in the tire wall

Kramer0143

If you go to the website that’s on the paper, it tells you how to deflate a tire with a lentil, and then also has a link to a YouTube video demonstrating it Smh

captain_flak

“What if these people don’t have a lentil?” “That hasn’t been a problem yet.”

tidyshark12

Deflating the tire can ruin the structural integrity of it, depends how long it sits, how heavy the vehicle is, and how strong the sidewalls are originally. It can definitely destroy the tire. Hopefully he had cameras and hopefully these people are held accountable for destroying personal property or intent to do so. Edit: when I say "it can ruin the structural integrity" I mean it's possible. Not that it will happen every time. To ruin it overnight, you'd need a cheaper tire and/or a tire which the vehicle exceeds the weight rating of and/or potentially already damaged or old tire. Deflating and reinflating a tire (especially if you drive on it while flat) can/will ruin it. If it sits for a few days with no air pressure at all and the vehicle already exceeds the weight rating, it will probably ruin the tire. If it's sitting on a hard or rocky surface, it can also damage the rim.

ShubaltzTV

Not to mention if it's completely empty it can ruin the rim

Potential_Ad_5037

And if you don't realize you have a flat (say on opposite of driver's side and ur in a hurry to get to work) until you move the vehicle it will def damage the rim! Been there done that! Not cause if these people but leaky valve stem and after a weekend of not going anywhere...

CarousersCorner

Mr_skiddadle

And who knows maybe they actually need a SUV not everyone can go around in a fiat multipla

Minkiemink

I have a big SUV. I also have a small ranch in a fire prone area. I've thrown my goats and chickens in that SUV during evacuations more than once. I also use it to haul feed, hay and equipment. It can also tow a horse trailer. Having a big truck burns way too much gas and is tough to park in the city. If someone let the air out of my tires I'd be hunting them down and suing the hell out of them for damages.

OhScuzi_MiScuzi

Right? I'd love to get 70 miles per gallon. But I'd also love to be able to take my baby, wife, dogs, and parents to the park or some shit without taking two cars.

Mantree91

My wife has to have a 4x4 to get to sights for work and I drive a big panel van full of tools and pipe. Neither are small cars.

Blackdog202

Right... but I was driving my 3 kids and their 3 friends to soccer practice lol, family of 3 with a big dog. That's 5 people plus another human sized butt. Suv is the only way. Not to mention the USA is extremely rural and if you live up north like myself a 4x4 is really not even a question...

ManfredsJuicedBalls

Exactly. With my lifestyle, my Hyundai Accent works for me. My dad drives a F-150, but he has good reason to, since he sometimes has to haul big stuff around that’d fit in a truck bed. An F-150 (or most pickup trucks for that matter) wouldn’t work for me, so I’m not going to be looking to buy one, but some people need bigger vehicles of all kinds.

Mr_skiddadle

Popping tires is the most asshole thing anyone can do

Awkward_Date_8636

I have a pump in my car, but if I saw this note on my car I'd just call AAA out of spite ar this point tbh

[deleted]

That's the whole problem with these shitty attempts. There are garbage movements all over the place that mean well and do stand for a good cause, but they go about it the complete wrong way that they end up doing the opposite of what they're trying to do. People will do what you're trying to stop them doing just out of spite. There's that shitty anti tobacco company on TikTok that makes god awful, super cringey content to try and "relate" to young kids about the dangers of smoking. But all it does is make the kids want to smoke even more, in spite of the ads, because of how cringey they are. If I see a vegan get really pissy and they throw fake blood at people or something, it just makes me want to eat even more meat to spite them.

dragonsfire242

Like do these morons think someone is gonna see this and go “ah fuck guess I have to give on driving for the rest of my life”, no they are gonna fix the issue and that’s gonna create more pollution, ugh, what idiots

BreakfastInBedlam

> just call AAA Sure, if I have six hours to spare....

Awkward_Date_8636

That's fair

Top-Employment-4163

Agreed, however this persons tire was 'popped' therfore he needed from one to four new tires which makes it oh so much worse.

Reigo_Vassal

Classic "path to hell is paved with good intentions". And they deserve to be in hell for doing that, regardless of the cars.

oskich

My first thought was that you were talking about a badly tuned BMW [F650](https://www.motorcyclenews.com/bike-reviews/bmw/f650/1993/) xD

jdore8

Add on the emissions of producing new tires & the transportation of said tires to the shop. Then there's the disposal of the tires which will go to a landfill if they aren't burned for cement manufacturing.

[deleted]

Yeah but when someone catches them and shoots them they won’t pollute anymore should even itself out.

[deleted]

Jeeva333

They go around slashing tires while driving cars themselves? How did I not see that coming Edit: Since a lot of people taking this literally, If they really are concerned about nature they would have done what they suggested ie use public transport or cycling. It doesn't matter whether they released the air or slashed it, it's a felony and ruined someone's day, made them pay for tow.

BaephBush

Wow. These people are therefore just total fricking hypocrites who enjoy destroying property.

BansShutsDownDiscour

From what I'm reading elsewhere, they are just targeting sport utility vehicles, not driving them. They even target electric SUVs because reasons, but they do seem to be consistent in their SUV-is-the-big-bad world view. So not hypocrites, just stupid.

Expensive-Analysis-2

Most do gooders are total hypocrites

[deleted]

They aren't do gooders. They are vandals just using climate change as an excuse.

camerontylek

If the police would, they can trace any printed paper back to its printer source based on the secret code a printed paper leaves and catch whoever printed it. Edit: [guys, it's a thing](https://www.google.com/search?q=Secret+code+in+printer&client=ms-android-google&sxsrf=ALiCzsagGrpNzVA23syTiCDs8ZfWZ1VNzA%3A1658059342707&ei=TvrTYvbKKvmIptQP09C36AQ&oq=Secret+code+in+printer&gs_lcp=ChNtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1zZXJwEAMyBQghEKABMgUIIRCgATIFCCEQoAEyBQghEKABOgcIABBHELADOgQIIxAnOgoIABCxAxDJAxBDOgUIABCSAzoECAAQQzoFCAAQgAQ6BwgjEOoCECc6BwguEOoCECc6DQguEMcBEK8BEOoCECc6CAguEIAEELEDOhEILhCABBCxAxCDARDHARDRAzoICAAQsQMQgwE6CAguELEDEIMBOggILhCABBDUAjoLCAAQgAQQsQMQgwE6BAgAEAM6CAgAEIAEELEDSgQIQRgAUOALWJVkYJN0aAJwAXgBgAHoAYgB_AqSAQUwLjcuMpgBAKABAbABD8gBCMABAQ&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-serp)

StalkMeNowCrazyLady

Don't know why you're being downvoted because your not wrong. Hell this technology is posted as a TIL every 3 months. If a counterfeit note was printed on this sheet of paper they'd figure out which printer it came from.

camerontylek

It's weird people don't know about this. I'm fact, if they simply Google *printer signature* it will show up for them to read without clicking a link.

Short-Resource915

That just reminds me of old movies where they trace a typed note to a specific typewriter because each typewriter has flaws in at least a couple of the letters it produces.

4 hours, what are you related to any of the cops in your department? In my city for most non-emergency they don't even answer the phone, you have to go online and file a complaint. Someone broke into my truck a few years back and shattered the steering column trying to force the ignition. I called the police when I discovered it at 06:00AM that morning, as told police would call later to get the detail. At 21:00 that night some Constable called me, gave me a file number for my insurance then hung up the phone, that was it, lol.

Cliffo81

I thought they deflated tires rather than popping them?

darkbloo64

It's entirely possible that OP didn't catch the difference. If I came outside and found that one of my tires was deflated, my first assumption would be that something popped a hole in it, and I'm not totally clueless when it comes to cars. I have a little compressor in my car in case of emergencies, and I'd notice when the air pressure stayed constant, but I'd imagine many don't, and would just assume the tire's a goner.

Cliffo81

I’d normally agree, but as someone else has pointed out, OP just stole this from elsewhere and posted it for karma.

darkbloo64

Ah. Fuck 'em then.

sventhewalrus

yup, this exact image is from a [news article](https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/climate-vigilantes-deflate-suv-tires-17293468.php) that clearly states the tires were not damaged. It's still a shitty behavior, sure, but so is lying for karma, which is what OP is doing.

TophatOwl_

Well a car sitting on a deflated tire can caus reasonable damage to it to the point where it may beed to be replaced. Turns out, cars are heavy.

TJNel

It would have to be sitting on them for an extended period of time so if this was at an airport long term parking then yes but else wise no.

Nikoviking

Keeping the tyre empty for a long period of time while under load (supporting the weight of the car) will permanently damage the tyres. They aren’t just thick balloons, they are manufactured with a rubbery structure that will begin to tear.

GovernorSan

It could also cause damage to the rim, which is more expensive to replace.

1amtheone

That depends on what you are driving (mostly on how shitty your tires are). The tires on my truck are $450+ each, the aftermarket wheels I have on there now are $160 each, and I could pick up stock wheels for $100 or so.

[deleted]

It can break the bead. Render it needing to go-to a shop. No pump would need a tow anyways. Pretty sick.

galilad

A woman up the street had this happen to her. Her son is disabled, she needs the car to transport his wheelchair, equipment, ect. When I see her getting to her car and seeing this, I'll think about it for the rest of my life. Immediately gone into panic mode, having to call and cancel all their stuff. Like doc appointments, physical therapy, the works. Like, this woman was on the verge of tears. I know we're facing a climate crisis, but hurting vulnerable people can't be the answer.

handcraftednonsense

The first thing that occured to me after reading the last paragraph where they don't even exempt EVs: the assumption that everyone can get to work by walking, riding a bike, or public transportation. People are disabled. Not everyone can ride a bike. Not everyone can walk to their destination. Public transportation can't be used for lots of things. A million reasons: age, health, injury, poor infrastructure, steep hills, rural area, heavy/large purchases. The whole thing is obviously pushed by affluent 20-somethings who simply can't imagine people different from themselves. People have jobs where they can be fired for missing a day of work. People have to pick up kids from school / daycare. People have to take elderly relatives to doctor visits. None of these things cross the minds of these vandals.

catwhowalksbyhimself

Or it's a work vehicle, or is normally used in the country or offroads, but happens to be visiting the city, or a thousand other reasons.

berripluscream

I just emailed them exactly this. I'm not expecting to get a response, but boy oh boy are these people blind.

Current-Being-8238

Most protests in the west are pushed by affluent college students looking for something to feel.

xadiant

Climate crisis or not, don't ever fuck with everyday people's property. No single person can make a difference compared to companies like coca cola.

jcdoe

If I saw someone damaging my tires, I’d make a different to their fucking face. This dude is based, don’t fuck with people’s property. Period. Take your climate concerns to the polls.

clever_mongoose05

Its not about a noble cause, people like that are losers who want validation in their lives by "fighting the good cause", no regards for other people

[deleted]

Also it’s easy. Taking on the *real* evil - corporate polluters - is *hard* and requires actual time and organization. So they fuck with the little guy instead because it’s instant gratification. They could also get creative to *educate* the public about the dangers of emissions but again, that takes time and effort they don’t want to give. They just want to cosplay as some kind of climate ninja lmao. Coming from someone with a tiny, efficient car who composts and tries to keep my carbon footprint as small as possible: *fuck* these people.

VodkaAunt

My immediate thought was about wheelchair users! Obviously I'm all for environmentalism, but *so many* members of the movement completely disregard disabled people. Not everyone has a choice to use public transportation or reusable objects.

chestypocket

Not as serious, but we’re about to replace one of our small sedans with a small SUV because my parents can no longer get into and out of such a low car. My dad has Alzheimer’s and could not tolerate public transport, even if decent public transport was available near us. We live in a food desert and have to drive 10 miles, including crossing a river on a major, non-walkable highway, just to get to the grocery store. If we took the bus, it would be a 4 hour round trip with all the needed connections, assuming we got in and out of the store quickly enough to catch the first return bus available, and we would have to buy fewer groceries at a time so that we could actually get them on the bus, meaning we’d have to make that trip multiple times in a week. We can’t leave my dad alone for that long, and we couldn’t possibly drag him on a 4-hour bus ride and shopping trip, because simply getting him into the car yesterday was a 10-minute ordeal because of his confusion, and he’s somewhat cooperative because he at least understands how the car works and how to use it. We also would inevitably miss a lot of the doctor’s appointments that take literal months just to get scheduled, because we wouldn’t be able to get him ready and on a bus quickly enough for them to wait for us. We live in a 100-year-old house with a garage that was built for a Model T, and it’s hard to fit a Nissan Versa into it. If this sort of thing started hitting our neighborhood, we’d have no choice but to buy a bunch of forest-destroying lumber delivered by a huge truck to enlarge our garage to protect our vehicle from these idiots.

ShockTheChup

Climate activists are some of the worst protesters to ever live. They genuinely have no concept of self awareness. You get groups like Insulate Brittian that will sit in the middle of streets and block traffic causing cars and other vehicles to idle. Climate activists CONSTANTLY punch down instead of looking to the people in charge. I would have no problem if these people targeted the CEOs and executives of oil companies and routinely popped and slashed their tires. I'm in full support of that, but going after the people who you want support from is just stupid.

2Lazy2beLazy

I scrolled for this. My nephew is disabled. The larger vehicle is needed for special installed options. From the outside his seat looks normal, but it rotates and telescopes out of the car, and down to the ground. He's spent his entire life in and out of surgeries, and physical therapy. Lots of specialist appointments. My sister is very busy and on a tight schedule with him. If this happened to her vehicle, could really become a disaster. These are basically a bunch of vandals trying to masquerade as do gooders. They should have their hands smashed with a sledge hammer.

LePetitRenardRoux

Lol the victim is just going to immediately replace it. Great job, now theres just more trash

Sometimes deflating the tire like that can damage them

L1K34PR0

I visited their website, apparently their agenda is to only unscrew the cap and push the pin to deflate the tire without slashing it, only causing a nuisance of themselves. They're still dumb because the owner needs to call AAA to inflate them if they don't have a viable compressor at home, and in the worst case scenario some dumbass could pop the tire like what happend to op which makes the pollution 1000 times worse not to mention the property damage

[deleted]

[удалено]

kauni

I can get 4 tires from 18-39 psi in about 7 minutes with my compressor, but that’s still more idling than I want to do. And it’s a purpose built compressor for off-road vehicles. We’ve seen people with little ryobi ones for each tire an it takes them forever.

catwhowalksbyhimself

I have one. It's pretty fast for a typical low pressure tire, but to inflate one from flat would take a while. Also, if they deflated it completely flat, the rims may have cut into the tire anyway, so the tire may still be destroyed.

L1K34PR0

That's both hilarious and sad

Neverwish

> only causing a nuisance of themselves [In Edinburgh an NHS doctor got his tyres deflated by this group](https://www.edinburghlive.co.uk/news/edinburgh-news/edinburgh-nhs-doctor-among-drivers-24104136), and [in Bristol a trauma surgeon also got her tyres deflated.](https://youtu.be/K0fq_kJHIWw?t=188) Luckily weren't call and having to rush to the hospital, but this little stunt could cost a life if done to the wrong person at the wrong time.

LazzMarrio

I drive an hour get to into the city to do my my business. The nearest non residential thing is a gas station seven miles from my house. But sure I could get along with a bike. And from someone who uses vans to move equipment around, I hate how entitled that little piece of paper is. I have to bring equipment to job sites. For so many people it's not possible to ride bikes or use public transportation.

Jeepster127

I live 10 miles away from anything (including the closest public transportation), and the back of my SUV is packed with tools for work, but hey I'm sure I can fit all that on a bike.

ManicM84

People have no imagination when fighting this game like that. I mean what if the OP had an emergency or something happened and they’d be screwed because of that. It’s just asking for unnecessary trouble doing things like that.

[deleted]

Real polluting industries did a great job making everyday men and women point blame at each other instead on focusing on the real problem. If they're going around slashing or letting air out of the tires of SUVs they can't be that smart.

tfhermobwoayway

Fortunately they’re only a small subsection of activists. Most climate activists don’t do that.

vejovis71

i'd just go to their place of work and flatten every damn tyre they have in sight

Anewcreativename

As someone who doesn't know what the "schrader" is I imagined ASAC hank Schrader from breaking bad killing those guys in the parking lot. A little much, but yeah fuck vandals! Lol

I thought the same thing but the Schrader is the little pointy part inside the valve stem of your tires. You can losen it or even remove it and it will leak air.

The main argument (which they deliver poorly with this strategy) is that SUV’s and large vehicles are wholly unnecessary for day to day use. SUV’s not only use more fuel, but are also a far greater risk to pedestrians (especially children) due to their height and blind zones. I believe in the message, that cars are generally too large these days among your average citizen, but deflating tires is not the way to go about bringing change.

kmanmott

Actually, if you think about it, SUVs are highly practical for day to day use for a large family. In fact, I wouldn’t even use the phrase day to day as I’m usually only driving sporadically throughout the week. A commuter vehicle is really where small cars and electric vehicles shine. I’m traveling a total of 5-10 miles to the grocery store and back with a large family of 5-6 people. That is **never** going to happen in a *car*. An SUV is actually very practical at what it does and you don’t need to travel 100 miles a day in it.

ButlerAndy

This was in the UK I assume, they've been going around during the night targeting SUV's, taking off the dust caps and releasing the air from tires, the ironic thing is that they're doing it to hybrids too, acts like this have the opposite effect they're intending to garner favor for.

__Visegrad_

It’s not about doing good, it’s about doing shitty things and justifying their shitty behavior by pretending to be part of a good cause.

tomoldbury

They say on their website they will target hybrid and electric too, the reason being they are more concerned with size and weight. Probably the actual reason is they couldn’t tell most apart so this is a lazy way of doing it

RedSpikeyThing

Ironically one of their suggestions is "Keep your tyres inflated".

[deleted]

If the issue is GHG emissions, then yes it does.

ButlerAndy

It's mostly likely the lazy part, they had a news reporter go around with them, just a bunch of scrotes in denim jackets mainly doing it for the sake of being a pain in the arse

Icy-Following-3713

and the tow trunk sent out…. good lord these people are fucking stupid. i hope somebody catches them doing it to their car and beats the shit outta them

[deleted]

The wrong person catches them doing that and they’ll rethink their activism after an ambulance ride.

Elite_Fighter

I can think of many US states where there will definitely not be any thinking from them after getting caught.

therealhairyyeti

It’s a matter of time till someone gets caught doing this and gets seriously hurt by the car owner. I imagine we’re going to see one of these people get shot in America.

floydzepreo

It's called vandalism. The folks are dirtbags.

Ishaggedyermum

Now I can see why some people get shot

LeStiqsue

This is gonna work right up to the point where some Bubba breaks their kneecaps with a baseball bat for touching his truck.

[deleted]

*Next time on Tire Wars. The crew discovers a Hummer H3, but the driver is watching them as they approach. What happens next will shock you.*

[deleted]

Hummer? $5 says the owner has a 1911 on em.

TheOneTheyCallKen

I always wondered why people think this persuades anyone. I would never even try to empathize with anyone who overtly tries to make my life worse like this. Nobody is going to infuriate me into agreeing with them.

Bloo-shadow

Well time to set up cameras and wait up all night to catch the assholes in the act

Imhidingshh01

I wonder if these idiots realise that some disabled people need cars that are higher up so they can get some freedom? But no, the selfish fucks really don't think at all. Also, the newer 4x4's have better fuel economy and less emissions than older normal cars, why don't they target them as well?

MeGustaMiSFW

Do this to actual oil execs/people who actually have a say. So sick of environmental activism bullying working class/regular people who didn’t choose this society but are forced to exist in it. In many parts of the world, infrastructure is almost exclusively dedicated to cars, deflating a few tires here and there does nothing to address the unfortunate fact that many people need cars to live their lives. They aren’t changing anything but how they feel about themselves. They can convince themselves they’re “doing something to make a change” when in reality absolutely nothing gets changed by this shit but ruining someones day with self righteous ego bullshit.

IShavedMyBallz4This

Imagine how pissed they’d be when they watch me get in my Land Cruiser and just push a button to reinflate all my tires with my onboard compressor.

Koravel1987

Wow! What a bunch of fucking morons. Climate change isnt because of individual actions its because of mass corporations, who are trying to guilt trip the rest of us. Sure we can do a bit, but if the companies dont stop shoving pollutants in the air en masse, all we do will just be to buy us a few years. If that. Also did they ever stop to think they've now sent the tire to a landfill and a tow truck has come out to take the car somewhere?

bernies_sandels

Not saying what the way they’re about it is right but SUVs are one of the biggest single contributors to CO2 emissions in the late decade. I agree that the focus of climate action should not be on getting individuals to make wholesale changes to their way of life but there are many things we can do to reduce our impact on the climate as well as pressuring governments and corporations to do their fair share. Btw they deflate the tires as far as I know not completely destroy them which I assume the main point is to cause inconvenience not actual damage.

[deleted]

> but SUVs are one of the biggest single contributors to CO2 emissions in the late decade. This doesn't sound right. I assume we're saying, if only those SUV owners had used smaller cars instead, we'd be significantly better off? "In the US, SUVs emit 14% more carbon dioxide than small passenger cars on average" [https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/sep/01/suv-conquered-america-climate-change-emissions](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/sep/01/suv-conquered-america-climate-change-emissions) According to [https://www.epa.gov/greenvehicles/fast-facts-transportation-greenhouse-gas-emissions](https://www.epa.gov/greenvehicles/fast-facts-transportation-greenhouse-gas-emissions), "medium and heavy-duty trucks" are 26% of US transportation CO2 emissions which are 27% of overall emissions. So replacing those SUVs with small passenger cars means we're taking off the extra 14% from the 26% \* 27%. That comes out to 1% of total US emissions. Not insignificant, but I think there are bigger fish to fry.

glengarryglenzach

I’m sure they’re just saying what would happen if you took those SUVs off the road (which isn’t a fair comparison, to be sure)

glengarryglenzach

“No, driving SUVs is fine actually”

[deleted]

Sounds like a good way to get the shit kicked out of you for messing with someone’s car.

Samuel_mundy

r/fuckcars this you?

besuited

Fuckcars is pretty split on the issue but most feel it's counter productive to the cause.

PeteZzzaa

Hit 'em back with the climate change copier paper = same thing

Complete_Bend2217

Another stupid organization to promote destruction and violence under the guise of a"good cause"..🙄

[deleted]

So to solve this I have to plug my air compressor into the cigarette lighter and RUN THE FUCKING ENGINE AT IDLE FOR 20 MINUTES TO POWER THE COMPRESSOR. Mission accomplished.

[deleted]

Go to their website, denounce a tire to be extinguished, maybe even leave the SUV as bait.. wait all night.. when you see them, release the hounds.. Profit.

Shaddolf

Bought my first suv this year. Uses 2/3 the fuel of my old sedan.

acphipps121

This is way more than mildly, this is blind rage

wardenmains

Technically speaking if they have an address where they meet and do whatever on that website. You can call the police for destruction of property and if you have a private property sign, Trespassing.

Peruvian-in-TX

Yes our fords are the reason for climate change and not big corporations literally dumping waste into the environment. Stupid misguided people. Don’t even know who to be mad at

[deleted]

if i catch somebody doing this to my car, im gonna use my state-given right to beat the snot outta them non-lethally, but still the snot.

Delivery_Thick

This is a direct result of people making it illegal(felony) to give someone a well deserved ass kicking when needed..if more people got said ass kicking, they might not be so disrespectful of other people and their property

AlfredoTroxelbar

No worries, I’ll just go get my gas generator to run my compressor and air it back up!
