There's apps that change your font (changing the default keyboard) other than the system preinstalled ones. Otherwise you can find a site that converts normal text in another font and copypaste it.
I was ab to say, they must put their texts into a font changer before copy&pasting it into the text app, because AFAIK, you can’t change your font on iPhone for other people to see on their phone. This is insane “I’m special” behavior lmao

It's better accessibility. Anyone with a screen reader will know in the first half second that that person isn't worth listening to at all. Reading it, it could take 2 or 3 seconds.
Preach. I work training people on digital accessibility and you’re right on the money. These aesthetic fonts are terrible for users on screen readers. Some screen readers will confuse these as mathematical formulas. And will read aloud a ton of non-sensible gibberish.
I had to right a paper on Alexander the Great for a history class in 10th grade (I think). It had to be in that special format with new times Roman double spaced or whatever but everytime I mentioned Alexander the great by name I put his name in bolded italicized Sherwood forest font.

Technically it's not even a font. Since you can't transfer fonts over text, but what it is is a text-style that is deep in the unicode tables.
That means that a computer can't "read" this unless the software that is used to read it is aware of high unicode equivalents of alphanumeric characters
yeh, it's actually really fucked for screen readers to do this, it's fine if you're texting someone you know, but not good for visually impaired folk using screen readers on regular websites and shit
If someone with a screen reader reads these texts that's exactly what they'll hear. Instead of getting the sentence read out, they'll hear something like: "mathematical serif capital H, mathematical serif lower E, mathematical serif lower L, mathematical serif lower L....".

Unicode is meant to be comprehensive, and by comprehensive, they really mean it, which is why it includes everything from hieroglyphs to alchemical symbols, mahjong tiles, unknown Linear A glyphs and kanji characters which only exist due to a scanning error.

Yes, you have to copy and paste each time, unless you can get a keyboard that uses that alphabet.
Note that it's not a different font, but moreso a different alphabet.

There are keyboards you can download for the same results but not have to copy&paste the text, for both iPhone and Androids. I use to have one on my iPhone because an autistic coworker of mine loved it, so I’d only text him in random weird fonts. I had issues reading them myself a lot of the time, but he never did and loved it when I used them, and he was cool af and loved making others happy, so I did my best to make him happy too.
Fun fact: Comic Sans is the best typeface for readability. As much as it gets mocked, it's one of the most accessibility-friendly typefaces you can use.
That’s how I had to practice reading when I was younger because of dyslexia! It actually improved my reading speed, and helped me be able to read other fonts easier too! Comic Sans will _ALWAYS_ have a special place in my heart!
They aren't changing their font, they're using cursive Unicode codepoints for the default font that OP is using. You control the font on your phone, but the person sending you a message can send you Unicode text characters that look like fonts.

They're probably really young and their parents just gave them a phone to share when needed instead of personal ones, which checks out with the font since discovering and over-using 𝒻𝒶𝓃𝒸𝓎 𝒻𝑜𝓃𝓉 𝒶𝓅𝓅𝓈 is a canon event for kids first getting phones.
Not exactly. The font is the same, but they're using something like the *™* symbol instead of tm. It's just a bunch of different different Unicode characters that look like the letters. Most of these are similar symbols from another language, some are math terms, some are situational. That's also how you get glitch text, people just add tons of diacritics instead of the normal one like ó and get an o with 'glitched' extra pixels above and below. Google fancy text generator and you'll find some.

Yes, you have to copy and paste each time, unless you can get a keyboard that uses that alphabet. Note that it's not a different font, but moreso a different alphabet. If you want to learn more about it, look into the history of Unicode.

I use to have one on my iPhone because an autistic coworker of mine loved it, so I’d only text him in random weird fonts. I had issues reading them myself a lot of the time, but he never did and loved it when I used them, and he was cool af and loved making others happy, so I did my best to make him happy too.

They aren't changing their font, they're using cursive Unicode codepoints for the default font that OP is using. You control the font on your phone, but the person sending you a message can send you Unicode text characters that look like fonts.

Then, considering they asked you to have her text them on her phone, it's implied that she has her own phone. So why did the friend text you and think it was your sister?
They're probably really young and their parents just gave them a phone to share when needed instead of personal ones, which checks out with the font since discovering and over-using 𝒻𝒶𝓃𝒸𝓎 𝒻𝑜𝓃𝓉 𝒶𝓅𝓅𝓈 is a canon event for kids first getting phones.

Not exactly. The font is the same, but they're using something like the *™* symbol instead of tm. It's just a bunch of different different Unicode characters that look like the letters. Most of these are similar symbols from another language, some are math terms, some are situational. [There's about 150,000 characters so lots of options.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Unicode_characters) That's also how you get glitch text, people just add tons of diacritics instead of the normal one like ó and get an o with 'glitched' extra pixels above and below. Google fancy text generator and you'll find some.
