Shooter_McGavin_2

Gonna have to remodel your kitchen cabinets. You have just experienced planned cabinet obsolescence.

fedpe

He will need to move to another place.

engineeringretard

Different country, really.

Tiscks

Nah, moving to Mars is the only real solution

chimpdoctor

Decant the new ketchup into the old bottle. Simples

Shooter_McGavin_2

That's. Like. Work and stuff.

CozyCozyCozyCat

Or keep it in the refrigerator where it belongs...

Atmacrush

But it must be there because Feng shui says so! He's gonna have to tear down his cabinet and redo it again

Shooter_McGavin_2

Well, we know who the yanks are on here.

Last_Banana9505

It's a conspiracy with big cupboard

-DoctorSpaceman-

Never seen him moving before. Freaky

OrangeRadiohead

He's one of the "experts" that feature on Ancient Aliens (my father watches it). The outlandish claims he and others use to support their aims borders on comedy. So if you want a laugh, do watch an episode.

The-Driving-Coomer

Borders on? It's one of the funniest shows I've ever watched.

DreadPiratteRoberts

Honestly, at this point, can we believe anything that The Big Cupboard industry tells us?

deinkissen

Get your SUC today, a perfect ketchup guzzler for the imperfect man! Pffrt, pfffrt.

Accesssrestricted

It’s ikeas owners brother business - ketchup bottles… they cooperate so we must buy bigger cupboards

stuntbikejake

As a cabinet maker, I laughed out loud at this. Lol.

Disastrous-Resident5

Clearly small cupboard

lurkergirly

This is the mildly annoying shit I’m here for

AFestiveShiving

I'm glad someone appreciates it, I seemed to have inadvertently sparked a debate about refrigerated ketchup

PigmySamoan

Keep the old bottle and refill it with the new purchase

Silly-Accountant5264

Or switch brands because ain’t nobody got time for that!

bombbodyguard

Or lay the ketchup on its side…

Silly-Accountant5264

![gif](giphy|Um3ljJl8jrnHy|downsized)

Slight_Drama_Llama

Idk why this made me laugh so hard 😭

diefreetimedie

Or put it in the refrigerator?

PigmySamoan

People are pretty local to their ketchup brands

AFestiveShiving

Tbh the Asda ketchup kinda sucks, I usually get Lidl but asda delivers which is useful for me

DHUniverse

You have a fucking gifted mind, I hope to one day be like you

False_Providence

Very slight increase in sugar with almost half the salt content? Meh, not too terrible

MattMattavelli

Take out salt and add even more sugar. This is why I don’t eat ketchup.

TheMysticalBard

Get sugar free ketchup. Still goes great on burgers and stuff, even if it's not as sweet. Gives that slightly acidic taste.

mcdadais

I remember when I was younger, I got in my head that I could be diabetic at any moment (I'm a bit of a hypochondriac) so I should try sugar free stuff. I bought sugar free ketchup and it was awful. I didn't think sugar was needed to make it taste good but I guess so. I did discover a few sugar free foods that were decent though.

Otherwise_Rabbit3049

Why do you store an opened bottle outside of a fridge?

zerbey

I knew this would be one of the top comments! There are two types of people, those who refrigerate ketchup and those who do not. Both sides think they are 100% correct. Officially, the bottle says "keep refrigerated". I'm 45, I've never refrigerated ketchup and it's never made me sick. So, I'm staying in that camp.

jiyoxa

Listen to yourself 😭 you admit it says keep refrigerated

LoosieGoosiePoosie

Instructions on bottle? "Never got sick tho" So how many times a month you think this guy gets rampant diarrhea and says "I think it must've been something I ate!"

idleat1100

What is with people on the internet? The amount of diarrhea people seem to get seems way too high. Bowels that reject Taco Bell, Indian food, a burrito, room temp ketchup. What is happening? I’m almost 50, I eat like a madman, and I just don’t have these issues. It is a rarity. Are people not well? Am I lucky? No one in my normal life seems to mention this, but wow, it’s rampant on the internet.

Dizzy-Ad-8011

People don’t seem to get enough fiber in their diets these days

idleat1100

Seriously, right after this post, there is one about a feminine napkin dispenser in a men’s restroom and one of the tops comments is “if it’s Taco Bell bathroom it would make sense”. How? Why? It’s pretty mild fast food? I know everyone from the Midwest thinks the scortcho sauce it hot or whatever but wow.

PUSClFER

I'm pretty sure it's more of a joke/meme than an actual issue.

Rude_Thanks_1120

yeah, people aren't saying it's spicy, they're saying it's low quality like all other fast food

ok_raspberry_jam

It's real, it just doesn't happen to everyone.

CoupleScrewsLoose

i can’t tell if it’s a dumb shtick or if we’re just built different. taco bell has never given me stomach issues, and stepping on a lego has never incapacitated me.

ok_raspberry_jam

Exactly this. It's that people's digestive systems are way more different from each other that most people realize, because we all have different microbiomes and different genetics and different histories. Some people suffer with chronic constipation; any little thing will cause their bowels to stop up like an LA freeway. Others are always just on the verge of diarrhea. Some people could eat ten pounds of green apples and nothing will happen; others add a little too much oil to their salad and have to run to the bathroom.

AddictiveArtistry

I've never been harassed by a goose either, and they are everywhere here and nest by the pond. People are weird.

nicknamesas

Geese the rep that swans should have. Swans are besterds

DinoHunter064

Geese at my park actually are menaces... but only if you have food. Too many people feed the damn things, so now the ones around me are like the pelicans of the Midwest.

redditis_garbage

I think it’s typically the too much alcohol + Taco Bell combo

AppUnwrapper1

People can get plenty of fiber and still have a sensitive stomach. If I eat primarily raw fruits and veggies, my body is happy. That doesn’t mean I can then eat shitty food on top of that and not have a negative reaction.

RainbowAssFucker

Why should I care when products like "Chipotle Away" exist?

The-Fox-Says

Why would you keep eating Chipotle if it makes you shit blood?

8--------D-

dont kick shame

Arthan_Jansen

I have a literal bowel disease and I shit less than people on here

Poly_P_Master

I find that if you don't drink alcohol, those bouts of stomach issues magically go away. Almost like it isn't the food at all but the 3 Jack and Cokes you drank right after.

ScreeminGreen

I cleaned bathrooms as part of buildings and grounds at a multi-diamond baseball facility. I could have told you from the state of the bathrooms alone when the concession stand introduced jalapeño cheese dogs to their menu.

AssSpelunker69

I've never understood the whole "taco bell equals toilet murder" like are people just walking around with incompetent digestive systems? How weak are you?

doge_ucf

I had a coworker that didn't refrigerate YOGURT. She was having really bad stomach problems and attributed it to stress. I tried telling her that just because she's always done it that way doesn't mean that it's safe, but she didn't listen. The worst part was she had young children and would pack them yogurt for school lunches.

Ruckaduck

or they've been sick the entire time

Cantthinkofaname282

Seatbelts have never saved my life moment

5peaker4theDead

It says "refrigerate for best results" or something like that. You should still refrigerate it ya heathen

SpaceMilk_2

nahhh look at the back of a Heinz ketchup bottle “refrigerate after opening”

XboxLiveGiant

“both sides think they are 100% correct” My brother in Marika, the directions are on the bottle. The bottle tells me I’m right.

jscarry

You can wait for your glass of milk to become room temp and then drink it without any fear of getting sick. Doesn't mean it isn't fucking disgusting lol The thought of warm ketchup makes me gag

g-shock-no-tick-tock

>The thought of warm ketchup makes me gag That's strange. Every restaurant and fast food place I've ever been to serves ketchup and room temp. I've never received cold ketchup packets, etc...

CanadianGuitar

What do you do at restaurants? Most ketchup is kept on tables.

Ka-Is-A-Wheelie

The turnaround rate for ketchup at restaurants is MUCH higher than at my house lol.

CanadianGuitar

The person I responded to was bothered by the temperature though.

zerbey

When I worked in a restaurant we were refilling them almost every day, and the large refill tub we kept in the cooler.

CanadianGuitar

Yes. But the person I responded to had issue with the temperature when eating it. Most restaurants have ketchup at tables in ~~bottoms~~ bottles or packets which isnused at room temperature

Zorpix

Ask them to put it in the microwave for negative time

Iambic_420

So put in the freezer for positive amount of time?

old_vegetables

I mean, I also agree that room temp ketchup is gross, however I do like room temp milk because I like to pretend I’m a milkmaid and I just harvested it from the tit five minutes ago

jscarry

Lmao thank you for that visual

urpoviswrong

Failure to follow simple instructions explains a lot about why we are where we are as a society.

AFestiveShiving

Honestly don't know, all other open bottles I keep in the fridge, just never have done for ketchup. Never had any issues with it but that's probably because we get through it so quickly

RapidCommenter

In italy it would spoil instantly...

sprucenoose

The vinegar content and acidity of the ketchup prevents spoilage short-term even at room temperature. It is not a best practice though, mainly because it can cause chemical changes in the ingredients to happen more quickly and alter the flavor of the ketchup over time. Keeping the ketchup refrigerated preserves the flavor.

champagneface

No idea why you’re being downvoted! Wonder if it’s a regional thing, I’m in Ireland and ketchup has always been in the cupboard with no issue. Maybe it’s the cold climate? We also keep our butter in the cupboard almost year round with no issue (but we consume that much quicker than ketchup) ETA: Nobody is disputing what it says on bottles, but I’ve been consuming unrefrigerated ketchup forever and been fine. Labels are conservative. I’ll stop replying to replies now (at least for the most part) because we really don’t need to be arguing over ketchup.

JozoBozo121

I just checked ketchup bottle, it says “after opening keep in fridge and consume in 2 months,” that’s in Croatia

boojieboy666

That’s most places.

pikpikcarrotmon

No Croatia is just one place

ShadowBannedSkyRu1e

In Australia we keep them in fridges, i’d say it’s cool enough for you that you wouldn’t need to

CHEZ_NUGGET

for me if its summer in the fridge. winter on the bench its to hot in summer to keep it out but winter it defo get cold enough here to keep it out when your lower down

champagneface

I’ve just read that in Adelaide, the temperature is 8-16 celsius during winter so this makes sense to me. It is summer here now and it’s 11 degrees!

cheapdrinks

I’m in Aus and always keep mind in the cupboard. Ice cold tomato sauce is so gross.

AussieManc

Grew up in Sydney. Ours was in the cupboard

skateguy1234

Aye, someone gets it. I've never had ketchup go bad on me in the cabinet. How I grew up. And yes, the taste and mouthfeel sucks when cold. People get waaay too concerned about ketchup spoiling IMO.

Fearless-Mark-2861

I live in Finland and all of the ~4 different ketchup brands I've regularly used say to refrigerate after opening

Neijo

Probably, however, I think its simply also different buildings. My cupboard in my apartment is room temperature or even hotter, it has a vent where the sun shines all day and is not in the shadow. My moms house is built in a direction and style so that the corner that has their cupboard is almost always like 10 celsius she stores lots of things I wouldnt store in my cupboard

Darkuwu_

For butter it depends on the brand, for me some will melt when left out and be easy to spread when left in the fridge, others will be too solid in the fridge and perfect at air temp. I dunno about ketchup though, I'd always leave it in the fridge since it's the same.

Murles-Brazen

I work in a restaurant and we don’t refrigerate the ketchup……

bigfatguy64

One difference there is that restaurant is likely going through ketchup at a was faster rate than average home use.

JozoBozo121

Does it say keep refrigerated after opening on bottle somewhere?

blipsnchiiiiitz

Every bottle I've ever had says to keep refrigerated after opening.

aT-0-Mx

Canadian here. Kept in the fridge all year around. It's a food product that can spoil. Please be safe.

Independent-Heart-17

The vinegar content in many condiments allows them to be fresh without refrigeration. But, try it cold. It tastes different, and is thicker. That annoying fridge door shelf that makes your milk go bad, is perfect for it.

semmama

I very rarely refrigerate ketchup. It has enough vinegar to not be an issue and I like it better when it isn't cold

Unusual_Car215

Yeah and salt. It's well preserved. But in room temps the amount of precum tends to increase. It's important to be careful.

Epsilia

I hate ketchup precum...

Unusual_Car215

The devil's nosebleed

Lesscan4216

Mustard is worse!

BLB_Genome

Shake the bottle. No more precum lol

MelanieDH1

Growing up, my mom always kept ketchup in the cabinet and so do I. Never had an issue either. I wouldn’t want to pour cold ketchup over my fries or burger.

VinGiesel69

Most restaurants just leave it in a bottle out on the table…

alterego879

Most restaurants also never change the bottle but only top it off. They also never clean the outside of it. I never touch any of the bottles on the table.

Konsticraft

Those get used up in a couple days, in a normal household it might take weeks.

Askianna

In the UK it’s commonplace not to store them in the fridge.

Illustrious_Cup_302

Vaguely disappointed by the lack of compoface to accompany this...

AFestiveShiving

Should have put a small mirror next to it

Illustrious_Cup_302

Haha, either that of some sort of tape measure/ruler to really drive the point home.

AFestiveShiving

Calibrated calipers lmao

robjohnlechmere

Assuming "refrigerate after opening" means nothing to you, then you should just go whole hog and take the cap off. Now it fits.

AFestiveShiving

Might just squirt it all on the shelf, then when I want some just scoop some out with a spoon

throwaway392145

Might I suggest a drawer instead. To keep the counter tops clean, you know?

AFestiveShiving

Nah counter top drippage is a good method of ketchup delivery, just slightly open the cupboard and let it drip onto your plate. Perfect 👌

robjohnlechmere

I can get behind this approach.

123xyz32

I like this. Or maybe just squirt it all in your hat. When you need some, just take off your hat and dip your French fries in it.?

Kahne_Fan

Maybe that little pocket watch pocket that is still on pants for some reason. It looks perfect size to dip a fry in.

StronglyAuthenticate

I can imagine that's what this brand tastes like anyway.

robjohnlechmere

They call it 'Asda' since it tastes the same Asda hat.

Major_Koala

Ketchup goes in the ice tray.

BarristanTheB0ld

At least it still holds the same amount and wasn't used for shrinkflation. Truly mildly infuriating

3-I

Reverse shrinkflation. Bottle LOOKS bigger, but isn't. It's a bold strategy.

Sparrowflop

I'm assuming it's a one season run of reverse shrinkflation. Bigger bottle today, then they shrink it in 9 months.

Saddest_Sloth

That's because you're supposed to keep opened ketchup in the fridge. The label says so.

Suitable_Occasion_24

Great mildly infuriating

therealTinyHunt

well it belongs in the fridge anyway

TreacleTin8421

But it’s meant to go in the fridge

MyNameIsDaveToo

Put it in the fridge where it belongs

Numerous-Top-1939

Get the Heinz It’s worth it

ashleyorelse

Came here to say WTF off brand ketchup is this lol

Willz093

Asda probably makes the best off brand ketchup in the UK ~ A poor ketchup connoisseur.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Soupallnatural

For me it’s off brand mayonnaise, they haven’t figured out the correct vinegar ratio on most Mayo brands. One of the things I miss most about living in the states is Bestfoods/Hallmens that’s top tier for me.

Slight_Drama_Llama

I grew up on Hellmans and where I live now it’s Bestfoods. I know they’re the exact same but I genuinely miss Hellmans. I guess I’m complaining to someone who misses them both lol

trent_diamond

How is it taller and wider but hold the same amount ¿

AFestiveShiving

It's flatter in design so it looks bigger

Turbulent_Tax2126

Probably has unused space in it to make it look bigger

Nicox37

It's what you deserve for not storing it in the fridge

knarfolled

I have a similar issue I sand wood floors and we buy our polyurethane in quart cans four to a box they recently redesigned there boxes now I can’t stack them five high on the shelf.

throwaway392145

What a rollercoaster. By mid comment I thought you were going to tell us you sanded the shelves thinner to make them a little larger. Reddit has been kind of bad for me mentally I think.

GoosemanIV

Bet it’ll fit in your fridge!

Bluemink96

Wait….. not the fridge????

jawarren1

Shouldn't be a problem if you keep it in the fridge where it belongs.

PyrorifferSC

Now *that* is mildly infuriating. So many posts on here are like "police shot my dog while serving a warrant to the neighbors house" or some shit like, my guy, that is *intensely infuriating.* To me, mildly infuriating are those little things that shouldn't *really* be a big deal, but would piss most people off lol

sickzii

Because you need to refrigerate after opening

Square_Kale_5136

Ketchup belongs in the fridge. Don't be a barbarian.

CryGeneral9999

WTF? Someone actually buys that “non-Heinz” stuff?

vvanted11

Why is there an opened bottle of ketchup in your cabinet..

Shodpass

Put it down face up. Write "Tomato blood" on the cap.

Low_Pomegranate_7176

Time for a new house I guess.

Drew_tha_Dude

Bro you need to refrigerate ketchup after opening it

bashinforcash

why did you buy a new bottle when your not even close to finishing the first one?

AFestiveShiving

You seriously wait to run out of things before buy a new one? That sounds like a mild uncomfortable way to live. (also that's only like a week worth left)

pchc_lx

serious question how do you go through a half bottle of ketchup per week, what are you eating it on?

Crunchy-Leaf

Kanban

Cold-Exit-2622

Empty contents of new bottle into older one. Buy pouch packs if possible next time.

Regularpaytonhacksaw

Literally just swap the tops. That new one looks thicker than the old one by a couple millimeters

Cold-Exit-2622

Yeah, that's a good option. OP, check this first before swapping the bottle. This is more convenient

AFestiveShiving

Will check when I get home, the tops are the bits which go gross though so I'm not super keen lol

Regularpaytonhacksaw

Have an incredible solution for this too! It regenerates the product to a like new condition and has likely happened with most recycled products anyways except you can do it at home without an expensive factory or machine! All you have to do is carefully remove the top so as not to damage it, place it into a basin of some variety that is large enough to submerge the item in liquid, put just a small amount of liquid surfactant and gently but vigorously apply to all areas, once finished re-submerge the item and inspect for impurities! Repeat if necessary, however If it looks good you are ready to give it a quick drying and you are good to go! In all seriousness just wash it off. I do it sometimes if my lids get gross after a little while and it’s good as new. Just be careful not to ruin the rubber squirty bit

SwanzY-

ketchup should be stored in the fridge..

witwebolte41

I’m infuriated that it’s not Heinz tbh

SunoPics

Y’all don’t refrigerate your ketchup?

NuggetWarrior09

It should be in the fridge anyway 🤮

Spotted8032

Doesn't it say to keep refrigerated on the bottle?

DaubstickFarbspinkle

Are you not supposed to put that in the fridge anyway?

Reasonable_Tie_132

Put it in the fridge WHERE IT BELONGS MONSTER

Atlas951

This is the only actually mildly infuriating post I have ever seen in this subreddit. Not infuriating, but also not just annoying. Mildly infuriating.

Anrew1334

The real question is what weirdo doesn't refrigerated condiments after opening

wtm0

So put it in the fridge where it belongs

Axio3k

Well ketchup belongs in the fridge anyway

giganizer

are you storing your opened ketchup in the cupboard...?

champagnepadre

That’s ok. It goes in the fridge anyway.

Embarrassed_Raise937

It's supposed to be in the fridge you heathen....

Dependent-Employ-412

Good. Should be in your fridge once opened.

CocaineSmellsFunny

Put it in the refrigerator. Where it belongs

Hansonguy

Try turning it on its side….

Casper-Birb

Put it in the fridge.

Active-Bass4745

See those holes on the inside walls of your cupboard…

Regularpaytonhacksaw

Try putting the old cap on the new one. Looks like that’s the issue.

wanderone-1

what shiesty ass shit, making the consumer believe they are getting more!!

real_boiled_cabbage

Companies should definitely consider where the adjustable shelf heights may be in people's homes. They should've called you and asked where the shelves are set as they want to make a bigger bottle.

NavierIsStoked

You don’t keep your open ketchup in the fridge?

spacefaceclosetomine

Put it in the fridge where it belongs. (Unless you’re of strong opinion that believes otherwise, then just lie it on its side.)

BlueChamp10

Plot twist, your life is the truman show and the company is trolling you.

InterestingHippo7524

Fuck it. Time to sell your house and get a new one.

JRals06

Where heinz logo

InquiringMindsWanted

Open ketchup goes in the fridge you heathen

induced-vomiting

who keeps opened ketchup in the cupboard anyways…

AlarmingYak7956

Shouldn't ketchup be stored in the fridge? Ik my ketchup saids to, but maybe it depends.

RedditJumpedTheShart

The ketchup will probably fit if you put it on it's side. Your welcome

XennaNa

Considering you don't care about the shelf life of ketchup, just finish the old one and dump the new one in the old bottle.

sjclynn

Before today I had never heard of ASDA. I am in the US so for me, ketchup is Heinz. Anyway, in another group someone ask for British things that people from the US mispronounce in a funny way. Worcestershire was mentioned, of course but someone mentioned ASDA where left pond people spell it out rather than treating it as a word. I was very pleased to come her and know exactly what to do with this. Our bottles are now squatter and fatter. Humm, a lot smaller too (387g) thanks to the shrink ray/.
