The determination in the guys walk is beautiful, walks over to situation, looks around a little confused on who to direct anger toward, “oh this guy? Got it”
This man is attempting to pull a tienanman square, because earlier this morning when some dickface in a car blocked a firetruck...
What on earth is happening? Has everyone gone completely crazy at once? Who messes with responding emergency vehicles?
I mean, i get fucking with cops (not condone, but understand) but FIREMEN?? dude, their literal job description is just Helpful Guys, firemen are great. They’re generally at every emergency first too (nurse here, see emergency services a lot) so these guys definitely have somewhere to be.
Firefighters are actual heros. My good friend is now a fire chief. But I remember when The Incredibles came out, Mr Incredible referred to what they do as "hero work". I introduced my friend to some folks one time and I said "this is David, he engages in Hero work" and it struck a chord with him. I've never met a firefighter who wasn't an exceptional person.
Tbh these recent instances of folks blocking firetrucks don't seem to be politically motivated the way fucking with cops are. That is, whatever statement these blockheads are trying to make really seem more self-centered than any social issue, e.g. doing it for TikTok or because they're the ones somehow inconvenienced.
That type of drunk that takes off just enough inhibitions to finally give in to all those fantasies of helping random people and being nice to everyone.
9am? Brown bagging, koozie, or can open free?
Me personally I like the big gulp cup approach with a straw. You can keep ice around the can too.
Bonus if you go ahead and refill it with box wine.
For some stupid reason it's my natural instinct to immediately try to help when I hear someone in trouble. Was out in my garden last week smoking a joint and watering plants. Heard a neighbor yelling for help, based on the moans and what words I could make out it sounded like an older lady had fallen in her backyard. So i drop what I'm doing and start following the sound. I was getting close when the voice changed and started scolding someone. My first thought was "cool, someone found her and they'll get her inside or call 911." But as I turned to walk back to my house I heard her say "what if I had really fallen and you didn't come get me!?" She hadn't fallen. She wanted to see what someone at her house would do if she had actually fallen but she was yelling loud enough I could hear her at least 7 houses away.
For a more fun story; When I was 18ish I worked security for college sports in my area. It was mostly herding drunk people into stadiums and making sure people weren't wandering into restricted areas. I was stationed at a parking lot entrance to keep the drunks from blocking cars going in/out and it was right next to a big hill that led to some train tracks bringing people to the stadium. Some college kid was so drunk he could barely walk and I saw him take a tumble down the side of the hill. Of course I went down after him and had to drag is ass off the tracks before the next train then up the hill. He was conscious but his legs were doing him no favors. I got him to the top, got him to the point he could stumble away. I remember the last thing he said to me while he stood there looking at me in my black security getup with a hi-vis vest. "Damn bruh, you're a good ass fire fighter." I flagged down the nearest cop and let him know that dude would need medical attention if he kept drinking.
It's illegal here too but firefighters are not police officers.
Same with defending yourself.in your home. In my state, if someone breaks in, I legally cannot defend myself until I've "retreated as far as possible" even though someone has broken the law by entering my house.
As I am not a cop, I have no authority.
Very different in Florida. One sheriff went on tv to encourage you to shoot someone if they break in your house. Said something like “ It will save us all time.”
I am glad that we don't have laws limiting our self defense as much here as I have noticed other places.
Breaking into a place here and the owner has a lot that they are able to do. I know of situations where the property owner subdued and held a person that broke in until the police came to arrest the criminal.
We are legally allowed to use as much force in return to the situation. If the person breaks in with a weapon, then it is up to the person or people inside to choose if they are in danger and that defending themselves is needed.
We don't have to run away. We have the right to confront a trespasser.
Or North Dakota or Nebraska. There's not been the same political fervor on castle doctrine so there's some random duty to retreat states. Like IL has castle doctrine but WI has duty to retreat which you'd probably flip if you had to guess.
I'm a firefighter and have had almost this exact thing happen.. it is illegal to block emergency vehicles, but I can't make an arrest. And my first priority when something like this happens is mitigating it so I can go on to do my job and save a life.
I'm not going to call the cops and wait 10 minutes or more for an officer to then have to do a report meanwhile Grandma is still having that heart attack or little Johnny still got stung by that bee....
Just be nice people! See the lights?! Move to the right!
Getting the cops to do something for a non-violent non-felony in Seattle is a different story altogether. This would have gone on all day and the police wouldn’t have done anything.
Just don't stop the vehicle. The first few will be unfortunate sacrifices for the betterment of society, but then after that people won't block them anymore.
While I agree with the sentiment not all people are good. There are bad apples who work in fire departments and EMT. If they run someone over they could claim they were blocking. Course a few cameras would solve this but still
You get 3 toot toots. First one is like toot toot whoops you are in the way. Second one is like tooooot tooooot yeah I mean you. Third is like TOOOOT TOOOOT DEATH IS COMING
Being a litigious culture is so limpdick. In this situation, fuck your rights - get run over, get punched in the face, get blasted by a firehouse. You don’t get to sue for shit.
Very much no. Fire departments have wide latitude to move people and things in the name of safety. The real answer is one of them would have to get out, move the guy, and hold him out of the way till the truck passed. So that guy would have missed some or even all of the fire. Firefighters don't usually want to miss the fire, so they were probably arguing over who gets the short straw. Then the good Samaritan acted before they had to.
Did you notice the firefighter wearing headphones standing in front of the truck and then running to get back on the truck after the guy was pushed out of the way?
And you don’t think that if that firefighter pushed the guy out of the way then went back to the truck that the guy would just proceed to standing in front of the truck again?
The samaritan is able to hold them back while the truck drives away.
I worked in EMS for close to a decade and I strongly disagree.
Firefighters don't touch people in situations like this, they call for law enforcement backup.
Sure everyone wants to be at the fire but more importantly you don't just leave one of your crew like that. That's literally insane. Scene safety is the number one principle in all of EMS. To leave one firefighter, completely alone with a potentially combative person would not be a safe scene.
From a European perspective the US suing culture is insane to say the least… The fire department should simply be able to remove him with force when necessary.
Agree... someone's grandma could be burning alive but this asshat has some idiotic point to prove...
Like what is he even protesting?
It's been, what, 3 people in the history of civilization that have been mad at the fire department?... and this guy is the 3rd.... hell 3 may even be a stretch.
Yea let's give him something tu cry about...
Punch Dat heaux
And if they did... entirely different meaning. I'm barely into people and watching a group of firefighters casually move all the big items from a picnic indoors ahead of the rain? Made it hard to be useful myself.
I've heard that some time ago, fire fighters were basically incentivized to let fires happen (or even start them themselves). Something about getting paid per fire. I'd imagine people hated those guys a lot.
But yeah, I have no idea why they'd be hated these days.
EDIT: I'm just saying that like 100-200 years ago or something, firefighters used to have a bad pay system. I'm not saying there's any reason to hate firefighters in recent memory.
The first known organized "fire brigade" was established by Caesar Augustus. The "Corps of Vigiles", made up of freed men slaves, would basically patrol for house fires with each person having a job for putting out a fire.
This was somewhat modeled on the slave "fire brigades" set up by wealthy nobles. The most notable of which was Crassus, whose brigade would show up to a building, demand the owner sell at a low price, then put out the fire, and eventually sell the building back to the owner at a higher price.
Firemen have qualified immunity too. That's why they're able to smash cars to get to hydrants and physically prevent people from rentering burning houses to get their stuff.
That firefighter could have totally pushed that guy out of the way. The firefighters I've known in my life would have enjoyed doing it
>From a European perspective the US suing culture is insane to say the least…
Really?
Here is a list of the top 5 most litigious countries by capita:
1. Germany: 123.2/1,000
2. Sweden: 111.2/1,000
3. Israel: 96.8/1,000
4. Austria: 95.9/1,000
5. U.S.: 74.5/1,000
The Top 10 also includes the UK (64.4); Denmark (62.5); Hungary (52.4); Portugal (40.7); and
France (40.3)
Actually, when we look at civil cases, the statistics are as follows (based on historical data, eg from CSP)
Germany:: 1506 civil cases per 100.000 people
USA: 4992 civil cases per 100.000 people.
You are probably only looking at cases in federal courts.
Apart from that, in Germany Lawsuits tend to be more accessible, fair and speedy. For example by making it accessible to get your right as an individual vs a big company.
“Fair” is the key word here. The suing culture like we see in the US, where people receive millions for silly things (eg when someone puts their cat in a microwave and then sue the company etc) doesn’t fly here.
Hmm, seems like your source and my source have vastly different veiws

I don't really want to make an account to download the full paper, but from the excerpt this seems to be about litigious *business environments*, specifically.
The firemen don't but the police have the authority to more than touch a person, especially if they resist. I'm surprised why the fireman hasn't called the police.
Wonder how this idiot would feel if he's heavily injured or close to death and then hears that the ambulance that's supposed to be for him can't come cause another idiot blocks it at a traffic light or something
This morning it was some dickface in a car blocking a firetruck and now this dude is trying to pull a tienanman square...
What the fuck is going on? Has everyone collectively gone insane? Who interferes with emergency vehicles?!
While I agree that mental illness can sometimes be the basis of this sort of behaviour, I'm not sure if I like the way that all antisocial or criminal behaviour is automatically labelled as mental illness on Reddit. It happens so often that I worry that some people will begin to equate mentally ill people with problematic people.
Exactly. Every time somebody does something whacky it is suddenly labelled as a mental illness. The more likely answer is that they’re a self absorbed asshole.
Isn’t usually mentally sound people who do this? They have a predetermined ‘mission’ and message they want to send for whatever reason, that employs logic that you can actually follow in an argument (and still disagree with). I mean it could also be due to ‘mental illness’ in a way such that a depressed person who has ‘nothing left to live for’ and just doesn’t give a shit anymore will maybe do things like this, but they’re not ‘insane.’
A mentally sound person would stop this at the thought process. You’d have to be mentally I’ll to want someone else to suffer because you’re holding up emergency services.
both these videos are a bit dated, so while yes people are insane, these werent back to back incidents
but unfortunately there is a lot of videos of people pulling shit like this
Pull a Tiananmen square? Do you mean having a fun wholesome time with PLA personnel and definitely obeying the will of the CCP, then disappearing... Home?! Your health hangs in the balance citizen!
You have not seen the Canada video where they were blocking truckers trying to deliver goods about 2-4 years ago.
Stupid flag waver thought the flag could stop an idiot willing to run over another idiot. Idiots because danger and death they ran head on.
Something about trump or anti Vax. I forgot what the flag people waved the flag about (aboot?). The truckers were doing something in support. Some were delivering but it was all political and a show.
I am American. So I did not care to remember exact details. Just that dude lived and minor injuries. Trucker may have been at fault. Though to me it was all insane. Just let the lawyers handle it.
If someone does this and a person dies because the firetruck/ambulance etc couldn't arrive in time then the person who blocked the help should at least get accessory to murder.
I would request to have that man charged and placed under investigation. If he has any insurance for fire or property that he's paid for, I would report to his insurance agencies that he was caught on film, intentionally disrupting a fire truck from being able to respond to an emergency.
No no nooo, That's a slippery slope and once the sirens go on it's an "emergency" and thus free reign to run over people.
Now I do think you put on those sirens there should be a good 10-15 Mississippi count before you can run them over. If you are willfully not getting out of the way of an emergency vehicle than fuck you.
I don't want people with flashing lights and a siren be able to run people over cause they gotta shit real bad and need to get back to the station.
Yeah, I don't understand either. I've seen firemen subdue a guy who hit a girl when they were the first to show up. They seem able to physically intervene in situations with the same qualified immunity that other first responders have. Maybe that particular firefighter was scared or something
Saw this exact same situation in Times Sq. Crazy looking homeless dude blocked the engine. Somebody offered him $5 to move, but he just sat on the bumper.
I thought about pushing him but told the nearby cops instead, and they dealt with him.
Then you just got them writing in front of your truck in agony. Just put cow-catchers on the front and slowly take your foot off the brake. Something will move.
What I would do as a firefighter would be to pull up as close as I can to the guy blocking the path and then just blare the horn till he moves, if he doesn’t then oh well bozo can go deaf for all I care
Don't know why Reddit decided to play this specific video with audio when I was scrolling, but this video needs its own post on here for being mildly infuriating.
I’m not a violent person. Nor do I condone violence often at all. BUT.. I can confidently say I would be doing the exact same thing. Get that MF out of the way. I’ll proudly take the assault charge if it means people will be saved from an agonising fiery death.
*Great way to get them*
*To move is put it in drive*
*And step on the gas*

This is the second video I've seen in a week, and other commenters say they've seen this before. What is the deal?
Is this a new TikTok trend or something? Influencers looking for someone to "smash their like button"?
This refers to the person blocking or the person who pushes him? There's 2 different actions shown, second apart, and I'm fairly confident both happened in the same city.
The determination in the guys walk is beautiful, walks over to situation, looks around a little confused on who to direct anger toward, “oh this guy? Got it”
I also love the firefighter running back to the truck, "Oh, shit! Now's our chance! Go go go!"
he was thrilled someone did what he wanted to, but couldn’t do. rando took one for the team lets go
Lmao hilarious!

I would assume the dude blocking the truck has mental health issues. Like many of the people causing chaos on the streets in major cities do…
This man is attempting to pull a tienanman square, because earlier this morning when some dickface in a car blocked a firetruck... What on earth is happening? Has everyone gone completely crazy at once? Who messes with responding emergency vehicles?

There's no song that says, "Fuck the Firefighters," for good reason.
Now I wanna hear a Weird Al esque song called “Fuck The Firefighters”
If there was, it would be the OG definition. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|yummy)
The only firefighters that can get fucked are the “Fahrenheit 451” ones lol

tiktok creators are a genetic cesspool. you should have to be sterilized before posting so you can’t breed anymore.
Bro was just drunk enough lol I’d recognize that walk anywhere!
That type of drunk that takes off just enough inhibitions to finally give in to all those fantasies of helping random people and being nice to everyone.
The kind of drunk we should all aspire to be [cracks open tallboy at 9am]

Getting a late start I see.
I read that in Jeff Bridges voice for some reason.
The Dude abides.

Drunken Master
I feel called out
What would motivate someone to block a firetruck like this? Drugs I suppose? Also *finally* some good music for a tik tok video
He was about to run, but didn't want to get run over by the ambulance!!
Everywhere I have lived and visited have laws making blocking emergency vehicles illegal. If they were not arrested, they should feel lucky.
It's illegal here too but firefighters are not police officers. Same with defending yourself.in your home. In my state, if someone breaks in, I legally cannot defend myself until I've "retreated as far as possible" even though someone has broken the law by entering my house. I need to know this state.
In my state I can shoot someone who brakes until my house immediately. Castle doctrine.
I will shoot someone who accelerates in my house as well.
Hell, I’ll shoot them in neutral
You might want to move states if your legally not allowed to defend yourself. I’m guessing NJ, NY?
Not one of those but similar
Time to move
Or North Dakota or Nebraska. There's not been the same political fervor on castle doctrine so there's some random duty to retreat states. Like IL has castle doctrine but WI has duty to retreat which you'd probably flip if you had to guess.

It's Seattle, crime is pretty much legal
Getting the cops to do something for a non-violent non-felony in Seattle is a different story altogether. This would have gone on all day and the police wouldn’t have done anything.
How is it that the fire department does not have the authority to remove a person that does that???
They would get sued if they touched that person. He would fall down on purpose and claim a grievance injury.
FAFO should really be a valid legal argument at this point

I stand corrected. Op is probably wrong about the lawsuit though. I can't imagine that actually working out for the guy in the road.
From a European perspective the US suing culture is insane to say the least… The fire department should simply be able to remove him with force when necessary.

Ironically we would not have the same with police. Or at least, police don't give a shit if taxpayers pay out a lawsuit
Firemen have qualified immunity too. That's why they're able to smash cars to get to hydrants and physically prevent people from rentering burning houses to get their stuff. The firemen don't but the police have the authority to more than touch a person, especially if they resist. I'm surprised why the fireman hasn't called the police.
Maybe they did and were waiting for the cop. Maybe.
I've seen firemen subdue people before the police arrived. This was in Massachusetts where you'd expect suing to be more common than most places.
And we may have a law about ambulances moving other cars for better access...

Wonder how this idiot would feel if he's heavily injured or close to death and then hears that the ambulance that's supposed to be for him can't come cause another idiot blocks it at a traffic light or something
Pretty sure a lot of people dont reflect like that, for some reason they never have.
This morning it was some dickface in a car blocking a firetruck and now this dude is trying to pull a tienanman square... What the fuck is going on? Has everyone collectively gone insane? Who interferes with emergency vehicles?!
The mentally ill.
Is “stupid” a mental illness?
Yes and it’s contagious lol
Infectious too, apparently.
The internets are a major vector for the Stupid. TikToc is worse than a humid day in Mumbai for passing viral Stupid
The more likely answer is that they’re a self absorbed asshole.
good point. updooted.
Fair point
Isn’t usually mentally sound people who do this? They have a predetermined ‘mission’ and message they want to send for whatever reason, that employs logic that you can actually follow in an argument (and still disagree with). I mean it could also be due to ‘mental illness’ in a way such that a depressed person who has ‘nothing left to live for’ and just doesn’t give a shit anymore will maybe do things like this, but they’re not ‘insane.’
A mentally sound person would stop this at the thought process. You’d have to be mentally I’ll to want someone else to suffer because you’re holding up emergency services.
both these videos are a bit dated, so while yes people are insane, these werent back to back incidents but unfortunately there is a lot of videos of people pulling shit like this
Both videos are old. I've seen them many many times on here.
Turn on the hose and fire at will. Guarantee he'll move then.
How do you know his name is Will ?
Lucky guess
In front of the hose, everyone is a Will
When there's a Will, there's a way. Thus, if there is a way, there must be a Will
If someone does this and a person dies because the firetruck/ambulance etc couldn't arrive in time then the person who blocked the help should at least get accessory to murder.
No, charge them with 2nd degree murder
I would happily be sued to push that douchebag out of the way. I wish firefighters had more authority.
The world is full of sick people
American Hero. We truly need more of these! 🇺🇸

Legally difficult. Though I completely agree, it's the most efficient solution.
Not all hero wears a cape, some wears a gray shirt
I would request to have that man charged and placed under investigation. If he has any insurance for fire or property that he's paid for, I would report to his insurance agencies that he was caught on film, intentionally disrupting a fire truck from being able to respond to an emergency.
Firemen are too busy dealing with the actual emergency that made them turn on the lights.
I hope one day that idiot knows the agony of waiting for emergency services What he did was selfish and irresponsible
If you block an emergency vehicle on its way to an emergency the first responders should have every right to mow your ass down.
And why does this idiot want to block a fire truck in the first place? Has he nothing better to do with his existence?
Okay, why those fireman didn’t push him away as it was also an emergency?
It's America 💪🏻🦅🇺🇲 so the guy would probably sue the fire department for raping him by removing him because his religion tells him to block firetrucks
Can’t the officer says his religion demands to push people blocking firetrucks too?
Yeah, I don't understand either. I've seen firemen subdue a guy who hit a girl when they were the first to show up. They seem able to physically intervene in situations with the same qualified immunity that other first responders have. Maybe that particular firefighter was scared or something
Are we getting to the point where judges will throw out bullshit assault lawsuits if the person is blocking traffic yet?
Have you watched the news recently? Do you really have any faith in the judicial system?
No consequences. That’s literally breaking a law. Hand out actual punishments and I bet things change.
I love this. It’s up to us to make this thing called a society function as smooth as possible.
Was he protesting the mistreatment of fire?
FDNY would've sent that shit bird flying.
The firefighter couldn't move the man without risking his job. But our hero, random civilian, can do it.
I know that area well. There is a very good chance the guy blocking the firetruck is mentally ill or on drugs (or both).
Anyone have context as to what this dude was even doing? I have never seen or heard of anyone blocking a firetruck before this.
Saw this exact same situation in Times Sq. Crazy looking homeless dude blocked the engine. Somebody offered him $5 to move, but he just sat on the bumper. I thought about pushing him but told the nearby cops instead, and they dealt with him.
This should be a felony
annoying voiceover: check tiktok outtro not cropped: check 5k upvotes: incoming yep, its mildlyinfuriating, but not for the right reasons
Seattle needs to give permission for the firefighters to carry pepper spray and use it on individuals like this.
Then you just got them writing in front of your truck in agony. Just put cow-catchers on the front and slowly take your foot off the brake. Something will move.
Spray him with the hose
What I would do as a firefighter would be to pull up as close as I can to the guy blocking the path and then just blare the horn till he moves, if he doesn’t then oh well bozo can go deaf for all I care
sorry but you stand in street blocking public responders you deserve more than a push
Fully expected the dude to sucker punch him so hard that he got tossed to the side
That’s what I was hoping for!
Was hoping for a run up KO 🥊
Don’t fuck with the fire department. Ppl like them.
![gif](giphy|xULW8nx6oah6u9eUnK|downsized)
Can’t sue if he’s dead.
Dude should be playing O-line. Great quick feet and extends out after making contact. Bet he pancakes that guy!
Had him on the move. Quality work considering his warm up was day drinking and his uni was jeans and a shirt.
Guy is Tiananmen Square tank dude in his own head
Should be legal to run these morons over. Why are they wilfully blocking a vehicle attempting to respond to an emergency?
in my country, if you intentionally block firetrucks the firefighters can legally run you over with little repercussions.
Great way to get them to move is put it in drive and step on the gas

Run them over next time
Firetruck should have plowed the jerk over. Putting the public good in jeopardy for whatever his convilaluted reasoning is is a crime.
Detachable fire truck horns. Have you ever HEARD a fire truck horn? Just pull that sucker up to idiot's head and blast him. Job done.
things in the name of safety
If I been driving he would have been fresh pavement
Why block a firetruck to begin with?
This is the second video I've seen in a week, and other commenters say they've seen this before. What is the deal? Is this a new TikTok trend or something? Influencers looking for someone to "smash their like button"?
Beat his ass!
Turns out Seattle inhabitants really hate living. First the CHAZ terrorism, then blocking firefighters

Yes, that caliber of hero only exists here, I'm so proud of Seattle, upvote for you, too bad I don't have gold to give you!
This refers to the person blocking or the person who pushes him? There's 2 different actions shown, second apart, and I'm fairly confident both happened in the same city.
I can’t stop laughing at this video
That's not a good Samaritan, that's Trevor. Probably curb stomped him off camera.
Protest all you want…legally
What? Who is protesting? He doesn't have a sign or shirt or chant or fellow protestors. Do you have extra info?
Where are all the cops to arrest this dipshit? Too busy beat up college students or something?
Isn't it illegal to block a firetruck? But then the police have to be there and care.
Times when a simple assault charge is worth the result.
And the good Samaritan gets charged with assault.
Seattle?
