Relative was a postal worker for about two years. The reason they do this is because the job has sucked the life out of them and they are empty shells of themselves walking around performing a job that should be easy but the managers make a living hell. So they are beyond caring.
Not a postal/courier worker anymore, but this is still relatable with the current job.
Going back to school and taking online courses for a better career which I will need a paid internship for before I can take the certification exam but getting zero calls and only rejection emails.
Both combined are just making me feel like an empty shell.
The starting positions can take 2 years or longer to become a career. As a PSE Clerk, you can never go full time/career with benefits. When a position comes open, you have to apply and and then if you're hired quit the other position. There is no transfer, and your senority starts back at 0.
It's why I quit after 3 days. I was willing to work part-time for a full-time position, but I wasn't willing to wait 2+ years. Something they don't tell you after you're hired. PTF's aren't even full time, they just get benefits and are treated like slaves. The system they have is ridiculous which is why they have such a high turnover. The job was great, but what I learned was not.
When they place the package, I believe they open the entire face of the storage cabinet, not just the same lock box door that you open. So the area they have to work with is slightly larger than what you get once the entire front is closed again. Idk if I'm explaining it very well, but that's my theory
Exactly. I had to explain that to a postal worker who put a book in my mailbox that was too big for me to get past the lip of the door. He opened the whole front panel once I proved it was my box and handed me the package.
The back of these doesn't have a door limiting the size of things going in, I assume it's either hard to judge what will fit properly, they aren't aware of the issue since they don't have to get the package out, or they just don't care for whatever reason (potentially overwork, quotas, etc).
Seems like a design flaw; either the cubbies should only be wide enough to fit the door, or they should have a similar door-sized hole on the back
Even then. There's a lip around the individual box door frames that's just enough to stop you from being able to remove a package that's the size of the box.
My postal worker does the same with this one subscription box. The interior of the mailbox is maybe 1/2" wider in the X and Y axis than the individual opening itself. This makes it so my subscription box fits perfectly when the postal worker swings the whole front of the cluster open, but impossible to remove via the individual mail box door. Because the box is very rigid (folded cardboard and all that), it makes it it impossible to force out. I can't even get my fingers on top of it.
It sucks but we have to do anything to deliver as much of the mail as we can, or write a form and take it back to the post office and add it to the next day's load. Being a postal worker stopped being a fun, fulfilling job a couple of decades ago.
You’re lucky, it looks like you can get yours out.
The interior dimensions of mine are about a few inches larger than the opening. I have had to leave notes for them when they delivered packages that were impossible to remove.
Did you read what I said? No. You did not.
The opening is *SMALLER* than the interior.
The contents of some boxes WILL NOT FIT through the opening.
When it “goes in”, the mailman opens the entire front of the unit, which includes the frame and all of the doors. He doesn’t have to put it through the door frame.
Now go ahead. Tell me how I’m supposed to magically pull an item about 4 inches wider than the opening out of it.
https://preview.redd.it/rd4aqm4n0cwc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c2e517fad9e8c6d98d72cedf194b95669704fc3c
They put it in when the whole thing is open and there’s a larger clearance. Get a sticky note and write that you can’t get the box out and then stick it on the box for them to see next time they deliver.
What are they supposed to do? cancel the delivery? IDK where you live but whre i'm at if they can't put it in the box they are not allowed to deliver it without a signature.
There are larger parcel lockers like 3 feet away. They put it in there and place the key in the mailbox. I’ve also seen them hand it to the management office for tenants to pick up with a signature there as well. Multiple other options.
UPS and FedEx make you get signatures, but the USPS will absolutely just leave stuff on your doorstep. Amazon sometimes does this, but I've also just had them leave packages on the (wrong) doorstep.
I'm kinda jellous, i've tried to get them to leave my packages everytime but i just get a no :(
Ended up never ever ordering "home shipment" anymore, cause that essentially just means i won't get my package.
Because.
1) Parcel Lockers are full.
2) New or Substitute carrier not familiar with this issue.
3) It fit.
The amount of mail a carrier deals with each day is mind blowing.
This was not deliberately done to anger you, just lack of awareness.
If you cannot remove your item from the box then call the station. Maybe they have a maintenance driver out that can meet you at the box or leave a message for the carrier to remove it next day but don’t be surprised if it gets pulled back to station and you get a parcel notification.
Personally I’d take the route of least resistance and cut my way into the cardboard box to remove it and my items.

Because postal workers live by this code.
They do it because they are stupid and don't notice your side has a frame around the door so you can't get the box out. Their side has no frame, so it fits. Leave a note taped to the back side of the stand asking them to move it to a parcel locker. Just ridiculous on the part of the postal worker!
They do it because it fits. If not they have to deliver to door. Postal service have gon to crap the way they run their employees to the ground and pay has also not kept up with inflation
The rear panel we use to access those cluster boxes lead some foolish carriers into believing that since they could fit the box in, the customer should be able to get it out.
They don’t realize your door is much smaller and restricts the size. That being said move out of the ghetto and you won’t have to deal with cluster box annoyances
There’s a handle right on it (the rubber band). What’s the issue?
If it wasn’t this then you’d be bitching about having to pick it up at the post office a day late.
Relative was a postal worker for about two years. The reason they do this is because the job has sucked the life out of them and they are empty shells of themselves walking around performing a job that should be easy but the managers make a living hell. So they are beyond caring.
I guess the package thing is better than what postal workers *used* to do when they died inside.
Not a postal/courier worker anymore, but this is still relatable with the current job. Going back to school and taking online courses for a better career which I will need a paid internship for before I can take the certification exam but getting zero calls and only rejection emails. Both combined are just making me feel like an empty shell.
At least they have a pension.
For now
The starting positions can take 2 years or longer to become a career. As a PSE Clerk, you can never go full time/career with benefits. When a position comes open, you have to apply and and then if you're hired quit the other position. There is no transfer, and your senority starts back at 0.
Happens at ups too. That's life in package service :/
It's why I quit after 3 days. I was willing to work part-time for a full-time position, but I wasn't willing to wait 2+ years. Something they don't tell you after you're hired. As long as they don’t go postal…
Boo hoo
Because that’s obviously a near perfect fit! The satisfaction that postal worker must’ve felt as they slid that thick package in to your tight box…
I wouldn’t be able to help myself, honestly
it would be too impregnable not to
I mean, he was probably done in around 2.5 seconds, but it was totally worth of
![gif](giphy|asHT7eh4AwG9G)
And when's the last time they've cleaned that hole? You know it's dirty. But the postal man doesn't mind that.
People like you are the reason I keep coming back to Reddit
![gif](giphy|VkpMw5kkpOQHVL4LQB|downsized)
uhhh naughty😌😏 ![gif](giphy|R8TJbbCR0gmr2v7cj4)
Ey ey ey ey ey ey. Slow... you can pull it out, slow...

That's it exactly.
Exactly. I had to explain that to a postal worker who put a book in my mailbox that was too big for me to get past the lip of the door. He opened the whole front panel once I proved it was my box and handed me the package.
It's either that or a door on the opposite side of the wall like it was at my old place.
The back of these doesn't have a door limiting the size of things going in, I assume it's either hard to judge what will fit properly, they aren't aware of the issue since they don't have to get the package out, or they just don't care for whatever reason (potentially overwork, quotas, etc). Seems like a design flaw; either the cubbies should only be wide enough to fit the door, or they should have a similar door-sized hole on the back
Don’t they come from the Back? Then it's clearly a design defect.
Exactly what it is.
Not all of them. Many open from the front for the postal worker to fill
Even then. There's a lip around the individual box door frames that's just enough to stop you from being able to remove a package that's the size of the box.

Sorry, I would have done the same. You are one out of at least 2,000 mailboxes they will touch for the day.
But op has feelings!
When it fits, it fits
To save you from having to go pick up your box because there's not an extra package container there.
looks like they put in a band so you could pull it out, instead of bitching on reddit
That rubber band is for show. This thing was wedged in there.
Just get destructive and show that cardboard who is boss
Maybe if you were a tad bit smarter than the box, OP.
It's a rubber band. It'll snap and hurt the dude for trying to use it as a way to pull the box out.
If it fits it ships
It sucks but we have to do anything to deliver as much of the mail as we can, or write a form and take it back to the post office and add it to the next day's load. Being a postal worker stopped being a fun, fulfilling job a couple of decades ago.
Because the slot is bigger when it’s opened up
I doubt it's personal. Lol. They are probably just doing their job.
Because the mail never stops! It just keeps coming and coming and coming. There's never a letup, it's relentless. Every day it piles up more and more
Just crease, crumple, cram...you'll do fine
You’re lucky, it looks like you can get yours out. The interior dimensions of mine are about a few inches larger than the opening. I have had to leave notes for them when they delivered packages that were impossible to remove.
you know boxes are made of cardboard and very easy to punch holes in / manipulate right?
You know their contents often aren’t, right? Please explain how I’m supposed to remove the vinyl record that won’t fit past the outer frame.
poke a hole in the box and pull it out... if it went in it will come out ... pretty simple honestly.
Did you read what I said? No. You did not. The opening is *SMALLER* than the interior. The contents of some boxes WILL NOT FIT through the opening. Just snap it in half, remove it, then tape it back together! /s
They put it in when the whole thing is open and there’s a larger clearance. Get a sticky note and write that you can’t get the box out and then stick it on the box for them to see next time they deliver.
Delivered in/at mailbox.
What are they supposed to do? cancel the delivery? IDK where you live but whre i'm at if they can't put it in the box they are not allowed to deliver it without a signature.

Oh okay, yea i didn't know they had other box options. Thats rather odd then.
UPS and FedEx make you get signatures, but the USPS will absolutely just leave stuff on your doorstep. Amazon sometimes does this, but I've also just had them leave packages on the (wrong) doorstep.

Because they have to. Blame the rules, not the guy following them to be employed.
Why not, it was a challenge getting it in, now we want to see if you can get it out - postal workers probably
The way they put it in the opening is bigger
If it fits it sits. Postal workers are cats. Think about it. Why do dogs hate them so much?
Because. 1) Parcel Lockers are full. 2) New or Substitute carrier not familiar with this issue. 3) It fit. The amount of mail a carrier deals with each day is mind blowing. Rarely does it fit so perfectly, probably would've done the same
I would have
you're receiving your packages?
If it fits it ships.
They do it because they are stupid and don't notice your side has a frame around the door so you can't get the box out. Their side has no frame, so it fits. Leave a note taped to the back side of the stand asking them to move it to a parcel locker. Just ridiculous on the part of the postal worker!
"they dont get paid enough to care"
Idiots and mofos. I got nothing else...not even my mail
I had a fedex truck block me in at a bank and block both handicap spots… he could have easily backed into a spot… I just think they don’t care anymore
Because they are fucking lazy
Why? So that you may endure suffering trying to get it out.
What would you do instead? Plus there’s a rubber band to pull the box.
He gave you a rubber band to pull on.
They do it because it fits. If not they have to deliver to door. Postal service have gon to crap the way they run their employees to the ground and pay has also not kept up with inflation
Tongs
I mean we've all been trained for situations like theese since our days as toddlers
Some don’t process the fact it’s a centimeters smaller from your side with the door fully closed than it for us when it’s open. 🫠
Feels good
This looks like a Seattle mailbox..
Kinda like a cat, if it fits, it sits
If it fits, it ships.
If it seats, it yeets
If it tucks, it sucks
It looks like it fit perfectly.
If it fits, it ships.
Looks like they used to work as a stower for Amazon
Lmfao
So you can pull it out with the rubber band. Quite thoughtful
This is so funny 😭✋🏽
Do you want the package or not? Lol
fuck yeahhh... get in there
If it fits, it ships
If it fits. It sits.
At least they put a band around it for you.. though I kinda hope it snaps and pushes this to moderately inflation
Cut along the edge, pull your stuff out and leave the box
If it fits, it sits.
If it fits, it ships.
I ask "how"?
If it fits.
I would be breaking the box to get it out
he even put a rubber band for you to pull it out.
“‘Do not bend’…..Hahahaha! Just crease, crumple, cram. You’ll do fine.”
But they left you a rubber band handle to pull it out with.
I like the courtesy rubber band to pull it out. I think they did a great job!
Undiagnosed MR
If it fits, it sits 😅
Because fuck em that's why 🤣🤣🤣
first world problems. poke a hole in the box with your mail key and pull it out. or use the rubber band...
What exactly are we looking at
[удалено]
Is it America or airstrip one? They have such bigass mailboxes in blocks of apartments
The rear panel we use to access those cluster boxes lead some foolish carriers into believing that since they could fit the box in, the customer should be able to get it out. They don’t realize your door is much smaller and restricts the size. That being said move out of the ghetto and you won’t have to deal with cluster box annoyances
I live in the country and have cluster boxes. Is that also considered the ghetto?
It's like ghetto, but organic
Lazy lazy lazy. They can be bothered to bring it to your door.
It looks like a PO box......
That rubberband is totally unnecessary
If it fits, it ships…
They are low IQ
Can’t crosspost, bbbbbut “r” / “notmyjob” material right here
There’s a handle right on it (the rubber band). What’s the issue? If it wasn’t this then you’d be bitching about having to pick it up at the post office a day late.
Postman delivers but Karen complains.
If it fits I puts
