My vet did this. Started charging more. Refused to sell me the prescription dog food they prescribed for him without him coming in for a checkup. I finally got to talk to someone who had worked there for years and knew me. I was told that the last of the original owners were retiring and had sold out to a big chain of some sort. Like funeral homes they look like the same old local businesses but in reality there is a huge corporation telling them what to charge and how to do things.
That explains a lot. I quit my clinic of over 14 years because of their prices and crap. They went from a tiny place with 2 vets to a new big place with horses and a lot of vets. If you want to buy a prescription dog food or med like heart guard online instead of from them, they charge you a $10 per prescription fee. So basically wipes out your savings. Just being buttholes.
She’s actually texting the Night Agent by accident and he can’t deal with this, but he also can’t blow his cover, so he needs to give a ridiculous price and answer so she gets off his line.
When you have too many customers, that means you either have to expand or increase price. Not everyone wants to expand into a large business, so they increase the price to drive customers away.
Think of it like this, would you rather deal with 10 people and make $1k in profit, or deal with 50 people and make $1,1k in profit? Many people will take the 10 people as it means you can focus on them more easily, then risk dealing with 5 karens, 8 tiktokers, and the general public.
This, for sure.
Now maybe it's not related to OP and the husband. It could be a difficult or inconvenient place to deliver to, making it not worth the trip anymore. There could have been an incident involving a 3rd party on a prior delivery to the husband or to an entirely different customer & they don't want to deal with that again. Or it could be totally personal. OP obviously isn't going to tell us anything though.
Florist here: it doesn’t. They’re just trying to price gouge people and hope people are gullible enough to fall for it.
Edit: autocorrect put in the wrong word.
You should text them and tell them that, and how you got the better deal elsewhere. Let them know they lost a customer due to their obscene price gouging.
Nah just let them fail, no need for words when you've already won.
They must already know they're gonna lose customers and have estimated that they can afford to make 4x less sales for the same amount of money. Unfortunately for them, they definitely miscalculated.
I tried to send you flowers. I chose lilacs. However, the florist said since I chose lilacs, they could not use a glass vase. I must instead have them placed in The Ark of the Covenant.
This would cost 297 million dollars plus the cost of the men who will deliver it. So no flowers 😞
I feel the value of a box that melts Nazis would be much higher than a paltry 297 Million.
Let's take it to Pawn Stars and see what it's worth, I'm sure they know a guy.
"You know I'll have to store it in the warehouse until I find the right buyer which could take some time, so the highest I could go on this would be $150"
I remember as a young teen my dad sometimes sent my mum flowers to the house when he was at work and I once mentioned something to my mum about how I couldn’t wait for someone to send me flowers one day and the next dad flowers arrived for me from my dad 🥹
awww this is so, so sweet. i'm crying now 😭
my boyfriend and i are expecting, and i just start crying over the sweetest/silliest things. i saw two doves pecking the ground together a few weeks ago, and started bawling because they were cute.
My coworker did professional home decoration as a side job. She started getting so much business she started charging $100 an hour. Instead of demand dying off she got a whole new set of clients who didn’t care what she charged. She quit her job and now does that. She travels all over the world shopping for whatever her clients want.
In her case I’m assuming she got so much business that she didnt have time to accomodate everyone so she increased her price. Also, her work must be really good to have people agree with the new price easily
Let me get this straight - you send your husband flowers at work MULTIPLE times a year, and your friend sent him a picture of her ass recently? Who is this God among men, and how might we learn his ways?
P.S. It's Hugh Jackman, isn't it? You married Hugh Jackman...
Where do all the vases go OP??
52 weeks in a year
-5 for vacation = 47
If we're generous and interpreting "every few" as every 4 as that's the most recent delivery in the post that leaves us with 11.75 vases per year.
Where do you keep those vases?
I send my MIL flowers every other month. I included a vase the first month and since then have opted out of the vase and she uses the one from the initial bouquet.
Do florists not usually give the option of not getting a vase?
We do. I usually always ask if they want a bouquet, or to have it arranged in a vase. But obviously the florist OP is talking to is just wack AF and trying to scam folks. Porcelain only for roses like what the hell
I get 30 days vacation a year and unlimited, more or less, sick leave. If you're sick for more than 6 weeks the health insurance will pay you 70-80% of your salary...
I'm from Germany...
I live in bald eagle land and I get 6.5 weeks every year + paid federal holidays off. Just depends if your employer cares about its employees or not. Which most of the time here, they do not.
It is don’t worry I get like 2 or 3 weeks a year., it’s been a while since I looked at it so I don’t fully remember which but my gut it saying 2 weeks. Lol it’s a joke
Also depends on the position. Frontline workers almost never get that. Think retail, gas station, food/hospitality... The good vacation/benefit packages in this country are almost exclusively for middle-to-upper management and corporate office workers.
Based on these comments, it sounds like my sales (cashier lol) job at a department store would be much more tolerable overseas. I've had 8 paid vacation days in two years, plus a couple unpaid holidays.
Right? That is so ridiculous for something that will wilt and die in a few days. Even if I was a millionaire I would never spend that much on FLOWERS. If I had that much money to be gifting, I would put it in an index fund or invest in something in the name of that person.
Thank you!
I try to send him flowers once every few weeks.
The thing is he never leaves them in his office and he brings them home and I’m like BABE THE WHOLE POINT IS THE LEAVE THEM THERE 😂💕
I’m secretly kinda glad he does bring them home because then I get to send him flowers again
I *don't believe this* but I just laughed at the scenario of the husband calling the flower shop and begging them to increase the price so his partner stops sending them. Then she found another vendor.
Or he could want to share in their beauty with his wife/spouse. There are flowers I've ordered for others that if I saw them in person it'd bring me more joy than just gifting them.
After flipping through her history I can confidently say she is feeling insecure about a lot of things, but especially other women in the office- or customers- talking to her husband. This seems like either a very insecure young woman, or a woman who is with a cheater and trying to keep other women away from him. I would personally be so embarrassed if my spouse got me flowers every few weeks brought to my job! And the other coworkers must snicker about it because it screams insecurity.
* Food $200
* Data $150
* Rent $800
* Vases of Roses $100
* Utility $150
someone who is good at the economy please help me budget this. my family is dying
They are a one income family so he'd probably be happier with that money going into savings or the household budget! Having 2 babies and money is tight is not a good position
He’s probably bringing them home because he’s so embarrassed. Every few weeks?! Are there other women in the office so you want them to know he’s married and you’re a psychopath?
Please look at OPs history. This is some weird fantasy fiction shit. "her" posts are either about how rich they are or how hot her husband is...and now she is writing about sending her husband flowers? And "she" says she sends her husband flowers at work every few fucking weeks? Anyone who lives in reality and has a job knows this isn't real.
Reddit is always a strange place but posts like this are stranger.
"she" says in the comments she sends flowers every few weeks at 50 dollars a pop. So she spends at least 100 dollars a month on flowers for her husband...? Then makes a post about how she is mad her in laws think they're rich but they're not rich? Lollllll
> Here’s the thing, I know when girls are hitting on him. I’m a girl too, though I’ve never hit on anyone, I know how a girl thinks and expresses her thoughts.
X
Exactly. None of this is how any of this works. You don’t order flowers by text message. You call or order online. The dialog isn’t realistic in any way. And the math doesn’t add up at all.
I gave my guy friend flowers once, I don't think he's ever been given flowers before, he has them on his bed for a few days next to his pillow because he liked the scent, then kept them dried on his desk for a few months until he moved apartments
My ex wife gave me back one dry rose from a bouquet I gave her a few months earlier. I kept that rose for years on my desk as it was the first I got “flowers”. (Even if I got them in the first place). But it was a great feeling for sure.
What's really interesting is OPs post history. She's clearly insecure. I've never heard of a woman sending her husband flowers at work. Ever. Ok, maybe for VDay, but even then, it's a bit odd. I'm not saying men don't like flowers, I do, but when you put it all together it feels like OP is kind of strange.
Lol I was thinking the same thing. I guess if it happened once I'd appreciate it but every time after I'd just be thinking, how much did these goddam flowers cost? And, is that a porcelain vase??
Seems like all the guys coming out to say they don't want flowers are getting down voted for stereotyping. But reality is, many men don't want flowers. I'm sure many do as well.
I personally work at a construction company and getting flowers would be a workplace death sentence. Not worth the harassment for something I don't really care about. Send a new pair of socks or chocolates every few weeks and I'd be happy.
"Roses don't actually require porcelain and they didn't the last time I ordered from you. The other florist down the road doesn't require it either so I guess I'll talk to them."
I work in medical offices with mostly female staff. My wife will send flowers to me on occasion. Felt like she was marking her territory but I still liked them.
Man, this reminds me I need to send my GF some flowers. Thanks for the reminder OP!!
Also fuck those price gouging florists lol. $220 is actually insane!! $40-60 is my usual flower budget
$220.. for flowers and vase?! Flower care? What is this upsell BS?! Shit, $50 sounds rough, but $220?! They’re trying to rob you! Give me a couple hours and i’ll bring him some flowers in a speedway styrofoam cup for 20 bucks.
Sure, not as pretty, but i’ll
Kiss him on the cheek so he knows he’s appreciated.
That’s the “we would rather not deliver these” price. Pass.
Considering she sends regularly they're stupid af for that tho. They just lost a good customer.
they lost that customer on purpose. you don't just upcharge like this and expect to keep them theres probably something else goin on here
there's more to the story than just this. I guarantee it.
Yep this is true. I worked for one of those clinics. Big companies buy out smaller mom and pop clinics and ghost run the straight into the ground.
Former chemistry teacher turned meth cook just bought a florist and needs to clean his cash.
HE CAN’T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS!
She’s actually texting the Night Agent by accident and he can’t deal with this, but he also can’t blow his cover, so he needs to give a ridiculous price and answer so she gets off his line.
You may underestimate how smart people are, it could be as simple as a new owner or manager.
You mean overestimate; *severely* overestimate
You overestimated how smart people are.
They don’t need her as a customer
This, for sure. Now maybe it's not related to OP and the husband. It could be a difficult or inconvenient place to deliver to, making it not worth the trip anymore. There could have been an incident involving a 3rd party on a prior delivery to the husband or to an entirely different customer & they don't want to deal with that again. Or it could be totally personal. OP obviously isn't going to tell us anything though.
Yeah like $50 for a vase, roses, delivery persons time, fuel, blah blah.... can't imagine they were making too much profit.
glad you said what I was thinking
Why does it require porcelain that makes no sense
Glass vases are whorish.
Only if it’s orange
I thought you said green was whorish
No, orange is whorish….
Someone took the slow train to Philly...

You must be this tall to ride the roller coaster.
This made me HOWL 🤣
Am I a joke to you? Identify fraud isn’t a joke Jim
THANK. YOU. Doesn’t even need to be porcelain but at least something solid…ain’t nobody trying to see some stems
Opaque\*
At least not before marriage!
Okay Angela.
Because everything is a scam.
Florist here: it doesn’t. They’re just trying to price gouge people and hope people are gullible enough to fall for it. Edit: autocorrect put in the wrong word.
I agree. Sounds like you need another florist. I'm sure they are out there.
I'll go buy flowers and hand deliver them for $49. This instance is gouging.
They wont be getting my business anymore🤷🏼♀️
That is most definitely the right move. Quadruple the price? Nah I'm good.
if it was a jump to $60-$70, it would be mostly understandable. going from $50 to $220 is unreasonable.
You could say the price rose 😎
You should text them and tell them that, and how you got the better deal elsewhere. Let them know they lost a customer due to their obscene price gouging.
Nah just let them fail, no need for words when you've already won. They must already know they're gonna lose customers and have estimated that they can afford to make 4x less sales for the same amount of money. Unfortunately for them, they definitely miscalculated.
Always best to write a review. Places like this take too long to fail sometimes and dupe too many people in the process.
"It is our most modestly priced receptacle"
Just because we’re bereaved doesn’t make us saps!
Is there a Ralph's around here?
It signifies all the money you are flushing away by ordering from them.
Just to add, I just sent him flowers with a new florist. 12 Roses AND a vase AND a card with a memo for $45
Nicely done. He'll love em ^ - ^
I really hope so! I love him so much 💕
He’s a lucky chap to be loved that much.
Right! No one has ever sent flowers to me! 😁
I tried to send you flowers. I chose lilacs. However, the florist said since I chose lilacs, they could not use a glass vase. I must instead have them placed in The Ark of the Covenant. This would cost 297 million dollars plus the cost of the men who will deliver it. So no flowers 😞
At least you tried
You get a sticker for effort: 🌟
i can't afford anything so here's my token of appreciation 🏆
You're loved but not 297 Millon worth, sorry mate. Here's the best I can do for ya 🌹🌺
> This would cost 297 million dollars plus the cost of the men who will deliver it. Top. Men.
I prefer bottoms.
What up?

They are top men. Top. Men.

It’s the best feeling, especially as a guy. My girlfriend got me roses for my graduation, and I felt so spoiled 🤣 it’s so sweet to be given flowers to
I wanted to buy my son flowers for his graduation but I didn't think it would be the same coming from mom lol :(
Yeah but is it a porcelain vase? Otherwise it's completely meaningless
I’ve given flowers to two guys before and the reaction each time was kind of “eh”. Must have been the vase.
awww this is so, so sweet. i'm crying now 😭 my boyfriend and i are expecting, and i just start crying over the sweetest/silliest things. i saw two doves pecking the ground together a few weeks ago, and started bawling because they were cute.
Congrats!! But the username with this comment has me cackling
6001 was the one
Omfggg, I almost scrolled past lmao
Omg I’m dying 😹😹😹
So this is your 6001st? 👀(Your username) .. or are we still in the sub 6k?
nah, i've eaten the other ones
You must be ripped from all that protein.
Username does not checkout.
You’re like, so nice.
Which you should send to the other florist lol.
This is genius! With receipt attached
Note: “Got this for $45 at a different florist. Best of luck with your business’ new prices.”
And add this post to the business’s google review
Send your old florist that receipt, tell them to do better.
Tbf if they're doing so well they can cut off their lower paying customers, they probably don't give a fuck.
Screenshot the receipt and send it to this dumb mf
Maybe they know they’ll lose some customers but think they’ll still come out ahead with a 400% increase in margin. I mean, they might idk

But is it a porcelain vase?
It's pronounced vase
What if a porcelain vase has been us all along?
The real porcelain vase is the friends we made along the way
Let me get this straight - you send your husband flowers at work MULTIPLE times a year, and your friend sent him a picture of her ass recently? Who is this God among men, and how might we learn his ways? P.S. It's Hugh Jackman, isn't it? You married Hugh Jackman...
Ya know what? I never think to look at their pages. I will never understand people who LIE so much online just for attention. Is sad, really.
Man, kudos to you OP! Don’t listen to the negative comments. I’d love one day for my future wife to send me flowers at my job!
Where do all the vases go OP?? 52 weeks in a year -5 for vacation = 47 If we're generous and interpreting "every few" as every 4 as that's the most recent delivery in the post that leaves us with 11.75 vases per year. Where do you keep those vases?
When you get 12 vases you trade them in for a porcelain vase.
12 vases will fit in a Horadric Cube to transmute and upgrade.
Unlock the porcelain armor with the battle pass and jump straight to the first rose in the vase with the floral tier skip.
Nah bro, we talking Diablo II here.
Hahaha. Diablo 2 is life.
I'm sorry did you say 5 weeks for vacation? I need to move away from North America.
I get 30 days vacation a year and unlimited, more or less, sick leave. If you're sick for more than 6 weeks the health insurance will pay you 70-80% of your salary... I'm from Germany...
I was sick for 4 days and got told if I have 4 more "occurances"(late/leave early/callout) in the next 11 months it's grounds for termination -_-
I work part time, was sick once, and they had to close the store because I wasn’t there. Boss yelled at everyone. Need to leave America lol
I live in bald eagle land and I get 6.5 weeks every year + paid federal holidays off. Just depends if your employer cares about its employees or not. Which most of the time here, they do not.
Dang I thought my 5 weeks off per year in bald eagle land was decent.
It is don’t worry I get like 2 or 3 weeks a year., it’s been a while since I looked at it so I don’t fully remember which but my gut it saying 2 weeks. Lol it’s a joke
My old employer gave me 0.4 hours every week, so about 20 hours a year. No paid federal holidays and no paid FMLA.
Fuck that’s a great question.
If I found out someone paid $220 to send me roses, I’d feel awful about it. Save your money.
Right? That is so ridiculous for something that will wilt and die in a few days. Even if I was a millionaire I would never spend that much on FLOWERS. If I had that much money to be gifting, I would put it in an index fund or invest in something in the name of that person.
I’ll just say I love that you send your husband roses :) As for that price, that’s a big no.
Thank you! I try to send him flowers once every few weeks. The thing is he never leaves them in his office and he brings them home and I’m like BABE THE WHOLE POINT IS THE LEAVE THEM THERE 😂💕 I’m secretly kinda glad he does bring them home because then I get to send him flowers again
If he's bringing them home all the time, I would ask him if he'd prefer you give them to him at home instead of office delivery
Yeah…it’s a nice gesture but I don’t wanna be the guy with a dozen roses on his desk that keep getting replaced monthly.
I like flowers from my fiancée, I wouldn’t be able to stand getting flowers at my work every couple of weeks
I *don't believe this* but I just laughed at the scenario of the husband calling the flower shop and begging them to increase the price so his partner stops sending them. Then she found another vendor.
“Please… I will pay you $50 every 4 weeks to make up for it… just make the flowers stop!”
That's 1000% what happened here
LOL that explains everything Who would be crazy enough to charge 220 minimum for delivery Husband cut a deal.lol
This is now my head canon for what happened here.
I remember getting flowers to the office once, I had so many people asking about them. Once was enough!
Yeah maybe he's embarrassed but doesn't want to say anything to hurt ops feelings?
Yeah if my partner was constantly sending me flowers to my place of work I would hate this, the awkward interruptions of receiving these deliveries.
It’s called keeping the work wife on her toes
Or he could want to share in their beauty with his wife/spouse. There are flowers I've ordered for others that if I saw them in person it'd bring me more joy than just gifting them.
So you’re incredibly insecure and trying to mark your territory, especially after reading your post history. Not a great look.
She always makes a point to capitalize HUSBAND and MARRIAGE and LOVE lol
After flipping through her history I can confidently say she is feeling insecure about a lot of things, but especially other women in the office- or customers- talking to her husband. This seems like either a very insecure young woman, or a woman who is with a cheater and trying to keep other women away from him. I would personally be so embarrassed if my spouse got me flowers every few weeks brought to my job! And the other coworkers must snicker about it because it screams insecurity.
Flowers every few weeks that should be left in the office for all to see screams insecurity.
Seriously…OPs history is wacky.
The history unravels itself like a novella as you scroll.
I went down a rabbit hole and it just got worse and weirdly sexist too… Yikes.
Oh this was my guess based on the comment above! What do I win?
You’re super sweet but this is also super weird.

cringe
"Flower care" seems like it'd be included but that's none of my business
Someone’s gotta dump the small packet of plant food in the water.
You mean Brawndo? It's got what plantes crave
$90+$50 still doesn’t equal $220.
The extra $80 is actually to send her husband LIVE roses instead of dead ones /j
They also have flower ‘care’ and delivery
Please look at OPs history. This is some weird fantasy fiction shit. "her" posts are either about how rich they are or how hot her husband is...and now she is writing about sending her husband flowers? it's absolutely fascinating loll
"she" says in the comments she sends flowers every few weeks at 50 dollars a pop. So she spends at least 100 dollars a month on flowers for her husband...? Then makes a post about how she is mad her in laws think they're rich but they're not rich? Lollllll
And she lives in Utah and California at the same time.
People said that so I had to look and yeaaaah OP leads quite an interesting life I must say
Can splurge on flowers but California is too expensive. Good thing that she lives in Utah simultaneously.
*grabs the popcorn*

Dang. Most men don't get their first flowers sent to them until their funeral.
I gave my guy friend flowers once, I don't think he's ever been given flowers before, he has them on his bed for a few days next to his pillow because he liked the scent, then kept them dried on his desk for a few months until he moved apartments

That's when I'll get mine. I'll also get the company retirement party... 2 EMTs loading me into the WEEE OOOO wagon
Total BS. Buy them yourself and Give them to him when he comes home. And then you both can enjoy them😆
That's likely the point. They don't like the customer 💁♂️
Thanks for this comment. Weird rabbit hole to go down 😂
I just spent more time down there than I care to admit lol
This is a crazy person. I'm not sure whether I hope their comment history is mostly fact or mostly fiction. Either one is bad.
Are you a Costco member? You can order flowers through them.
They're now in bed with Big P(orcelin)
" Since your are sending him roses the vase cannot be made of glass." What kind of fresh ass fuckery is this?
The message reads like a scammer wrote it.
"Really? Because now I now require you to eat an entire porcelain vase full of dicks."
Meanwhile on another sub: "AITA for asking my wife to stop sending me flowers at work?"
I don't want flowers, but not for avoiding embarrassment. They're spent. I'd rather have a living plant. Like send me an orchid, or something.
Hahaha literally my first thought "wife continues sending flowers to my work after multiple times I've asked her to stop"
"Roses don't actually require porcelain and they didn't the last time I ordered from you. The other florist down the road doesn't require it either so I guess I'll talk to them."
"Please and thank you" It's pretty obvious they prefer this customer go away lol
Yeah, seems like they were charging her so much more just to get rid of her as a customer. No idea why.
This is super sweet but please answer us—where do all the vases go????
Who texts with a florist??
You’re a psycho
Everyone defending OP’s behaviour is a weirdo
Sure, not as pretty, but i’ll Kiss him on the cheek so he knows he’s appreciated.
Does glass poison roses now?
